have tried cm9, aokp by ho!no!, paranoid android by andasa but the problem is same in all !
gallery lags a lot and is unable to generate thumbnails for hd videos & movies and sometimes pics too, so it is obviously impossible to play them via gallery !
video playback works fine with mxplayer or any other player but i want to play them with default video player through gallery !
any workaround or solution for this ?
thanks.

i am talking about the roms i mentioned in the op !
i use the leak and everything is fine over there !
just want it in cm9/aokp/pa !
Some things to try...
* Before starting up the Gallery, long-press Home and swipe-away EVERYTHING that's running. This ensures full resource availability before starting the Gallery.
* If you use SetCPU, make sure you're not in a throttled down setting...Or manually set to max while using Gallery
* Settings > Developer options > Force GPU rendering. Try on or off to see if that makes a diff
* Settings > Performance > Memory Management. Play around with some of those settings to see if it helps.
Good luck!

Hello,
I noticed that the default youtube player always plays the video in low quality. I can then press a button and select playing in high quality, but I wish I could do that by default, I mean that the player should open the video in its best quality. Does anyone know if this is possible? Thank you!
+1
I'd love to do that as well.
Just change the settings. Open the youtube app, menu > settings & its the 1st option
thanks but for some reason i dont have this option in my youtube player. the version is 1.5.20. the menu reads like this:
general settings: clear search history
time settings: fillter videos by time
and that's it.
Me too, I don't have this setting.

mine is 1.6.20,
im on modaco r3 rom, which has the option
I'm on Modaco R2, and I have the option also (YT version is 1.6.x)
Well if people are on custom ROMs is it not beholden on them to assume MOST people are not and to not give general advice as if we all share the same settings?
C'mon people, think.

I don't have either on my Factory-Unlocked Desire on O2... So may be it's a feature chefs putting in custom ROMs.
I can set it to high quality NP, stock rom - unlocked desire.
thanks again, and everyone else for their opinions. I am NOT trolling (nor am I sure what that means). I am using a perfectly new out of the box HTC Desire, network free and un-rooted or un-hacked or un-anything. It was bought in Romania.
I still don't have that option in my youtube player. It's a little annoying that it plays the low quality by default, especially since I have a large data plan.
I have this option on desire straight from o2. App version says 1.6.19 (E) Dont think it was there on my previous desire from 3 though (I could be wrong)
App 1.5.2 stock ROM using T-Mobile within the UK here... the video always starts in high quality. Initially, it started in the normal quality (which horrified me, heh) until I changed it for one vid and the option stuck ever since. I can only change the quality by pausing the video when it starts, clicking menu>more> and I see the option there to change to normal quality, or vice-versa if you start on the normal quality to begin with.
Low... Err normal quality is terrible; high quality seems good enough really. High quality on Youtube generally gives me a 29FPS 480x270 554Kbps H.264 MP4 vid using the app. Low quality is at 104Kbps -- haven't precisely managed to get the rest of the data yet.
My problem is that using the default browser or HTC's flash app gives vids always in the low quality without any option to change this. So I have to use Meridian to play most vids (nice app).
EDIT: a correction and added some more useful info.

Hello WFS users!
As you all know, user Henry_01 relased MIUI v4 recently. It is a very nice rom, but it have some bugs like music player won't load mp3 files, deep sleep not working, and rom is little slow. BUT, in this tutorial I will show you how to fix these bugs without making some changes in code.
First, I would like to say thanks to Henry and wfsdev team for porting amazing MIUI v4 to WFS!
How to get my music player to load mp3 files?
Well, when I installed this rom I have noticed that music player won't load mp3 files. Bcos of that I went back to CM7, but that was a big mistake.
All that I and every one of you need to do is to download music player with build in decoding. TTPod is great music player and it is not force closing like one user said. It is working like a charm and you can listen to music.
Okay, one big bug solved
How to get deep sleep to work?
Without deep sleep working your battery life will be poor, bcos cpu will use 245 or 120 MHz of power all the time. How to get it to work? Well, it may sound stupid, but for me it worked disabling auto rotation in display settings. If that doesn't work than put your phone in airplane mode and enable wifi.
How to get better performance?
Overclock cpu to 806 MHz and select performance governor. Then download ram manager and activate balance option. Your performance will now be better.
Why my camera isn't working?
If you get message like 'Can't connect to camera' or something like that just reboot your phone.
Some more tweaks
Here are some more standard ICS tweaks.
If you don't want to get apps force closing go to Settings - Developer options - Background process limit - At most 4 processes. You will have to do this after every reboot.
To make more internal storage use data2sd for cm7/cm9. Or use link2sd if you don't have powerfull sd card.
Last row on the screen can't show widgets in full size. To fix that use LCD density modder and change resolution to 140.
If you have and sugestions fell free to tell me, and feel free to press Thanks button
Thanks for letting me know
- Now fixing deep sleep, thanks modpunk for saying how
- Music player is fixed
- Implementing new kernel for better performance
- Maybe fixing location and gps too

Hi all,
Yes, I've searched, but I didn't find an answer... Why is it not possible to lower the quality settings on our camcorder? I don't want to send 11MB movies for each 15 seconds of movie I sent through whatsapp, and since the setting is there in the options dialog, why is there only one option to choose from? I tried most popular ROMs already, none of them support this feature, and the amount of good camcorder apps on the Play store is very very low... All help is welcome!

Hi,
i'm running with Flinnys Jelly Bean Testbuild 103 atm and i can choose between 720p and 480p while i'm in the standard camera-app.
What Rom do you use?
I'm using original HTC ROM as we speak, but I've tried almost all popular roms on the Vision, none allowed me to change the quality.
Hey guys,
Lately I almost gave up on Instagram because of the freezing and black pictures when it did succeed.. But I think I've found a "fix" for this, there is an option in Instagram now to enable high quality, as default it was disabled, after I enabled this option all my problems were gone..!! You can find the options for Instagram in the app at your profile page, at the top right there is a menu button, click it and scroll down to "options" and open "advanced functions" there it is..
Plz let me/everyone know if it worked..

I've noticed that Instagram freezes only when you apply some effect.
I've solved applying the filters with another app (Aviary, it is free on PlayStore. Very nice effects!) and then i share the photo with Instagram
Hope it helps
fix
installing Instagram to the Internal Storage fixed this ! ...but filters don't work all the time
I'm using MildWild's Rom (HTC Desire), it has this option to install apps to your internal, even though app2sd is installed
other solutions I found(didnt work for me, might work for others) were:
-Instagram>Settings>Advanced Features>Use HQ Image Processing
-Go to Developer Settings>Force GPU Rendering
-Crop/resize to 612by612 before uploading (Filters work if I use this)
-Dont use filters
-Use instagram itself to take teh pictures
---- my Instagram btw: amclouds

Hi!
I recently got my hands on an [email protected] monitor, and I would like to know if I could get some benefits of those extra 15Hz and 1440p resolution on the Shield! After all, it has HDMI 2.0 and enough horse power to run [email protected]
It's not to run apps or games at this refresh rate as it might cause some timing issues (games running faster as natively locked at 60Hz) but I'm using Shadow on it. Shadow streams the screen of a virtual PC in the cloud with low latency and resolution/refresh rates variating from between [email protected] to [email protected] That being said, the Shadow client received an image between 144FPS to 60FPS, and accordingly to Shadow's "PC" resolution. Of course you can receive 4K stream on a 1080p TV but that's not where I'm headed to.
I would like to run the Shield at 1440p, at a 75Hz refresh rate... Which is natively not doable but I wanted to know if there was a possibility to edit some files in order to add those options in the settings, or use a third party app... Anything that may help me to achieve it would be awesome!
Cheers!
EDIT: Whoops! Can someone move this to "Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting"?
Make sure you have developer mode activated.
1. Enable the developer mode by going to Settings > Device preferences > About, scroll to the bottom and tap Build several times.
2. Go back to device preferences, go to the bottom.
There should now be a Developer Options.
3. Click on that.
4. Go down to HDMI and enable "Show all supported modes in custom display modes".
5. Go back to Device Preferences and click on Display & Sound > Advanced display settings > Custom display mode.
It might be there now.
If it's not, then there might be no way to get it, since its not supported
But be aware, as it say under developer options, there might be graphical and ui issues by using a custom resolution in some apps.
