Hi all,
After being frustrated with not having TTS working correctly in Waze in any FF18 build, I decided to investigate. I remember that in the 4.0.3 FD26 version of MIJJz blend, TTS worked correctly for me in Waze. Any build after that and it would cut off. I compared files between FD26 and FF18 and found a couple of files that were changed between that dealt with audio. Here's my solution:
Push libstagefright.so to /system/lib from FD26
add media.stagefright.enable-player=true to build.prop
And that's it. TTS not cutting off anymore in Waze. I'm sure it should resolve the vlingo issue also. What's strange is that svoice is based on vlingo but it doesn't have the cutoff issue.
I'm going to test this further over the next few days to see if anything else was broken by pushing a 4.0.3 file to the 4.0.4 build.
Attached is the libstagefright.so that I'm using. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR LIBSTAGEFRIGHT.SO.
Also, use a build prop editor app. I tried messing with it from my PC and it caused my phone to get stuck on boot. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR BUILD.PROP.
Next on my list to try is the bluetooth A2DP streaming restarts.
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR BRICKS.

Normally, file permissions are set exactly the same as the rest of the files in that particular root directory. In this case /system/lib is rw-r--r--

I have this issue with Waze on Calk's 1.6 rom. I kept going back to Calk 3.0 because of it. I'll try this out and let you know if it works.
Thanks for the bug fix. I've been waiting for someone to work on this.
What is the vllingo cutoff issue?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Where the text to speech cuts off the last few seconds of the audio. Also had the same issue with waze and some other apps that don't use the native Google tts. Happened when they went from ICS 4.0.3 to 4.0.4

I'm sure some folks will appreciate this. There were definitely more than a few complaining about it when the leaks were coming out.
BTW have you experimented to see whether you need both the library and the setting or just one or the other?

I know for sure just having the change to the build prop does not fix it, haven't tried just pushing the lib

Just FYI, I tested Waze out this morning on Calk's 1.6 rom and I didn't get the cut off issue. Everything is working great. Thanks again for providing the fix.

Just wanna say THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS. I am on the tweaked stock FF18 and I flashed the Google Now zip and it worked fine but the little audio cutoff was driving me nuts. I did this and it was fixed. so i appreciate it.
yep this fix works perfectly if your mikeyxda v6 gooogle now is cutting off the last sentence.

I too would like to know this :silly:
Sounds like there may be easier ways, but I made a copy of my build.prop and then connected to my PC to open the file with Notepad. From there I noticed I already had media.stagefright.enable-player=true in there so no edits had to be made, just the push of the libstagefright.so file. (I'm running Blazer 1.5)
This problem has been bugging me for months, so much thanks out to nacron for the fix!
I'm running Supernova 1.3 and found all I needed to do was push the file to my system/lib folder and reboot! Problem is gone!
Thank you!

If you use ES, it may rename the copied file when you paste it. Delete the original and rename the file you copied...that's it!

The audio sound quality and volume has been greatly improved on IncDoes's desire hd port. The audio through the headphone jack sounds better and is much louder. What file or files are in direct relation to this? Basically, what file or files do I need to rip out of his Rom to apply this to another Rom?
EDIT (10-10-10): about a week or so ago i did get the result i was looking for. i copied and pasted probably about a dozen or so files from the Desire HD rom to the Virtuous rom i am running and i did get this to work. i just have no idea whatsoever, which file actually did it.
i'd like to get this figured out so that i can apply this hack to another rom if i ever decide to switch to another rom. i'm running a very early version of Virtuous, 2.0 to be exact. if i update, i'll loose what i somehow did. 2.0 has been running pretty flawlessly though i gotta say.

ok, i would, but the rom is broken. streaming any kind of audio makes the phone unresponsive within about 10 minutes or so. it works fine for about 5-10 minutes and then the cpu usage gets maxed out and the phone becomes completely unresponsive. if that one issue was fixed i would continue to use the rom, but until then, it's useless to me. in the meantime i would like to get this kind of audio quality onto a more stable rom.

use adb push and overwrite them. make sure to nandroid backup first. also, when you boot run adb logcat just in case you run into errors.
give it a few days, theres gonna be a big skyraider rip or a new version of RR with everything fixed i bet

i think your update.zip worked like it should have( phone booted and is running), but the audio is still the same. i think it's a different file than the ones that are in your update. thanks for the try though.
is it possibly part of the framework, and not in the lib directory?
haven't installed that rom, but in other roms i've used where dspmanager is installed, that app greatly improved the sound quality. maybe it's built into the framework with tweaked settings already in place?

yea i already have DSP manager. have been using it since the day that it was discovered to work on the incredible. this is something completely different. on incdoes's desire port the volume is considerably louder and just sounds better. there has got to be someway we can make this work on other roms.
i was just hoping a dev that knew which files controlled what, could lead me in the right direction.
have you tried just PMing ID and asking?
What’s needed:
Root Explorer (or ADB for you veterans)
A measure of common sense.
Virtuous Fusion (any version)
Fingers
Alright kids, here we go.
1) Download the attached VoiceCommander.apk
2) Download this zip and extract the file.
3) Use root explorer to move VoiceCommander.apk to /system/app.
4) I gave it rwxrwxr-x permissions (just in case)
5) Move the contents of your extracted lib2 file to /system/lib. Do not move the actual lib2 folder to /system/lib. Your phone won't blow up, the mod just won't work.
6) Reboot.
7) Enjoy.
If using ADB (assuming you downloaded the files to your ADB directory):
1) adb push VoiceCommander.apk /system/app
2) adb push \lib2 /system/lib/
3) fix permissions
4) reboot.
5) Enjoy. lol
There are more than the necessary lib files needed to run Cyberon Voice Commander included in the lib2.zip. This was done on purpose as I’m still testing to find out what other apps I can bring over from the LEAKED Canadian Official Glacier 2.3.3 / 2.1 VANILLA Sense ROM to Virtuous Fusion.
Please click the Thanks button if this helped you out.
Thank you TrueBlue_Drew, ckisgen, eViL D, Football and also anyone else I may have inadvertently left out. You guys rock.
eVil D, please feel free to add this (and anything else I find) into your next Virtuous Fusion update.
If any of you guys want to package this into a flashable .zip file, just let me know and I’ll credit you and add it into the OP.
Finally, the standard disclaimer:
I am not responsible for your phone bricking (I'd truly be amazed if you figured out how to do this by following my instructions and would likely ask for your autograph if you did so), your phone boot-looping, anything Donald Trump says, your first born being born with 13 fingers and 4 toes (exactly), or your girlfriend leaving her cell phone at my place (I reminded her to take it off my night stand).
Side note: Cyberon can map to your genius button if you're using 1.0.2

HTC Locations works as well. However, the widget does not.

I'll give this a try when I get a chance.. Not sure if it'll work on ICS or not though.
Edit:
I went ahead and did it... And it seems to work! Great work finding that thread, the phantom voicemail notification was the one major issue I've had with CM9.
Here it is:
Phantom VM Fix for CM9 Beta 0 (Changed link to new thread)
Just flash it in CWM. Should not need to clear cache.
Let me know if it works for you. Make sure to create a backup of your Phone.apk beforehand, just in case something is broken that I haven't noticed yet.
If everything seems to work OK for you I'll probably create a new thread and keep it updated for the latest versions of CM9.
I tried this last week but wasn't able to get it to compile.
YES IT WORKS!
And now I don't have to flash back to cm7 anymore.

Yeah, it can be a little tricky with ICS system APK's. It is usually the plurals.xml, or dimens.xml files that need a little editing to get it to compile properly.
Sweet....first time I haven't had a vm notification since the switch to ics...big props....thanks a ton
Looks like its working on my end as well. Thanks for the help! For sure one of the annoying parts of CM9 wish I could hit the thanks button a hundred times.
Back in the days of Gingerbread nivron created this excellent tutorial on how to enable 1X / 3G to display correctly in the status bar.
Now that most people are moving over to ICS, the 1X/3G issue returns. It also seems that the files have been changed and rearranged. The smali edits are no longer located in StatusBarPolicy.smali. In fact, that file is gone completely in ICS.
I was able to locate 2 files that seem to contain the variables that need to be changed to fix the issue: TelephonyIcons.smali and NetworkController.smali. Since I am not a developer or a Java programmer, I wouldn't know how to approach the code. So if anyone is willing to take on this challenge, it would be greatly appreciated. The files are attached to the post for your viewing/editing pleasure.

Hi Everyone,
First I would like to say how much I love Frosty JB and that this thread is only to help make it better.
I would like to report some issues that I have seen and see if anyone else has had this as well.
1. I was getting random reboots saying invalid SIM
2. Screen would flicker when Hardware overlays was not disabled.
3. In ICS there was an option on the setting of call for configuring the Native SIP this has disappeared
4. Camera shutter not making the shutter sound anymore
Can't wait for the next release V4 of Frosty.:good::good:
If anyone else is having other issues I would like to hear about it.
THANKS AGAIN

Alright. Best way to be helpful is pm the rom's dev about bugs you find.
Once you get your 10 posts you will get better support posting in the rom thread. Until then just do what you can like now.
Couple things you can try, redownload the rom and reflash. Make sure youve backed everything up and factory reset before flashing. This will give you a clean install and rule out any compatability issues with apps or data.
If you are still having sim problems use Odin to flash back to UVALH2 stock and if it still has issues you may need to exchange the sim or even the phone.
I dont think 1. has been a common issue so i doubt its the rom. The rest are likely related to it being a jb leak. Youll find out faster for sure by scanning through the last 10-15 pages in the thread.
Good luck with it!

1. Don't think that is a ROM issue (might be your hardware). But best bet is to to fully wipe everything and do a clean install them wipe cache dalvic and fix permissions reboot and wait 10 minutes then reboot again.
2. Flicker comes from the kernel (uvli6/uvli7) it has much better battery than uvli8 so we accept rare flickers. Easy fix by disabling hw overlays (video wont work while disabled though).
3. Idk but i think that is just how it is on jelly bean. Nothing to do with this ROM but literally all jelly bean roms.
4. This is a known issue with acid sound mod not the ROM. You can delete the acid sound mod find the apk with a file manager or titanium backup.
Gotta use the search option my man!
