Help - Bricked - won't go past the Google Logo screen - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Noob here:
Not sure what to do in this situation.
Flashing went wrong at some point.
At this point the phone does not get past the Google logo.
fastboot or adb do not recognize the unit.
When starting in recovery mode. The unit does appear in the device manager.
How do I unbrick the thing?

Boot into the bootloader. (Hold down both volume keys and power). Then flash the stock Google images.

Use this tool to flash stock ROM from fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400871

Thanks for quick reply.
Noticed an error in recovery mode: "Fastboot Command Read Error -2147483647"
Which was an easily googleable item, from there on all was clear. Got my stock yakju rom installed and getting a JB update offered!

Galaxy Nexus stuck on Google logo boot loop help [GSM]

I am running the stock rom without root and unlock and I got the 4.0.2 OTA update 3 days ago. Today when I do the pattern unlock my phone froze and reboot. Now I cannot get pass the Google logo boot screen.
I am able to get into the recovery mode but I don't want to do a factory restore as I don't have anything backup yet.
Is there any solution to this boot loop problem? I am surprise that I am getting this problem as I am running the stock rom without any root / mod.
If there is no solution to this, is there any way I can backup my phone before doing the factory restore?
Many thanks!
You can back up via adb. Try searching in the General threads, since there's a long topic on this...
Good luck!
Thanks, I do find information about backup, but I can't find anything regarding the bootloop...
When i got stuck at the Google screen with a bootloop i booted into the bootloader/fastboot screen with vol up+down power and i redid the one click all process and it basically rewiped my device and put it back to working again with unlocked bootloader rooted etc....
All you have to remember is what build number you have and let the toolkit work its magic.

Sorry, forgot to mention. You're probably gonna have to wipe via recovery - which is why I pointed you to a back up...

I can't find a way to backup without going into Android. I can only go to Fastboot Mode.
Anyone know how to backup the file using abd without getting into android?
Why did make 2 threads about this. Unlock the boot loader and use adb to flash your stock. Image files. You will loose all data unfortunately but I think that's the only way to fix it.

Ok I'm stuck with the same problem now. I wanted to flash a ROM, so I downloaded AOKP, flashed it and rebooted and the phone refuses to boot past the Google logo and keeps rebooting again and again. I am able to get into the recovery. I have flashed the ROM several times and its still the same. I have done a complete wipe as well. Still no go.
Fastboot command doesnt work in the bootloader either. I have made sure the drivers are installed, still there is nothing when I type fastboot devices. If I type any fastboot command it just says <waiting for device> or something like that.
Any other suggestions? :-s

Help urgent!!!!!!! Gn stuck on google symbol

So I was trying to put JB on my GN using this:
pcworld.idg.com.au/article/429778/how_update_your_galaxy_nexus_jelly_bean/[/url]
I reached to apoint where i had 4.04 yakju, but when I put the file to get JB, It said error and aborted, i went to wipe data and reboot, wipe data worked fine, reboot led me to the google home screen and is stuck there.
I can access fastboot. Recovery mode takes me to that android with the danger sign, doing another reset doesnt work, clicking reboot doesnt work.
I'm pretty nooby at this. I read a few other forums and they said something about flashing a new rom or something but I don't understand.
Please help! The phone isn't mine! Need help ASAP before owner finds out I messed up their phone, thanks!
If you can access fastboot and your bootloader is unlocked just flash a stock system image.
These are the reasons people shouldn't just one click everything they do. If you understood how fastboot worked you would be golden.
Reflash recovery. Then mount USB storage and then get a ROM on there and flash it.

The site I went to dumbed down everything, and all i had to do was input numbers into some program. I double checked what a fastboot was. I definitely don't know how to work that. I mixed up the fastboot with the bootloader...
how do i reflash recovery and get a rom on there? I know this is asking alot....sorry
My bootloader is unlocked but im not rooted. I will (figure out how to) root if needed.
Open up a terminal on your computer use fastboot to flash the recovery image.
Since you didn't take the time learn what you were doing to begin with, I would take the time now to go read. The answers are easily found with google, or searching this site.
Roughly, install adb and fastboot on your computer, load drivers for your phone, download the proper recovery and put it in the fastboot directory on your pc, plug in the phone boot to the bootloader
open term
./fastboot oem unlock
./fastboot flash recovery <nameofrecoveryimage>
I reached the fastboot part, but when i type in "fastboot flash recovery (file name) it says it cannot load file name...
What is the proper file that I should use? Running 4.04 YAKJU looking to just recover the phone back or switch to jelly bean, whichever is easier. (jelly bean if they are both the same)
okay okay okay, i think im almost there...got a rom and extraced it, i know how 4 files:
Boot 4,148KB
Recovery 4,478 KB
System 316,112 KB
Userdata 137,555 KB
Which one do I put for fastboot oem recovery (fileimagename)
Thanks
Stuck on Google screen
Background: GN is unclocked and rooted. I've had quite a few devices and have rooted them all and run custom ROMs. I am fairly familiar with all of the tools needed, but by no means an expert. I have the Android SDK with adb and fastboot installed on my Win 7 x64 machine as well as the samsung drivers. I loaded a Jelly Bean ROM the day after it was announced at Google I/O and ran it for awhile before I started having touchscreen issues. I removed the battery and restarted the phone and had no problems for about a week or so.
Problem: I started having touchscreen problems again, but figured it was perhaps due to the early version of JB that was ported over from the GSM version (I believe). I tried a few other versions that were released later and they would work for a few days and then the touchscreen issue would pop up again. At this point I started thinking it might be a hardware problem because if I twisted the phone (weird, but it worked) the touchscreen would respond. I flashed another version of the Jelly Belly ROM yesterday (//rootzwiki.com/topic/28677-rom-jelly-belly-v33-07122012-jellybean-411-pure-aosp-its-all-about-speed/") to see if it would work by chance. Unfortunately, I still encountered the touchscreen problem. After rebooting a few times my GN started bootlooping and would not load into Android.
Actions: At this point I tried to recover from a backup, but much to my dismay it failed (don't remember exact error). I tried a few other backups with no luck. I tried reflashing another ROM, no luck. Then I started seeing some errors when booting into recovery (E: can't mount cache/recovery/log. Around this time I also noticed I was getting errors with sdcard. I decided to take the phone back to stock using the verizon ICL53F factory image. I tried via numerous toolkits (Odin, Galaxy Nexus Toolkit and directly from fastboot) and have been unsuccessful. I've searched every forum and have literally tried everything I with no luck. I can flash new recoveries, but it doesn't solve my problem. Right now phone is back to stock with stock recovery and just bootloops at the Google screen.
I assume my phone is completely hosed, but am hoping someone might know something I don't and might be able to help me restore this phone.
Edit: I tried flashing an imm76k factory image via fastboot and was finally able to get in. I must have had a bad icl53f factory image...close call.

[Q] Stuck in Odin Mode after trying to download and install Stock 4.2

Hello everyone
After being prompted with the option to download and install stock Android 4.2 I pressed the respective button but instead of having an updated system my phone is now stuck Odin Mode.
I'm facing the following situation:
- When trying to boot into fastboot mode the phone shows the Android guy and says "Downloading Do not turn off target".
- When rebooting it, the Google logo shows up and nothing else happens.
- When I connect it to the computer [in fastboot mode] it says that the OMAP4440 drivers could not be installed.
- It is not recognized by the toolkit.
Before I've tried updating to the recommended stock rom I was running some early 4.2 release. My bootloader was unlocked and my phone rooted. CWM 6 was installed.
I'm pretty much screwed right now, no matter what I do, my phone is not recognized by the toolkit and stuck in Odin mode.
I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me out!
Thanks in advance.
Rob
Just thinking aloud... have you tried connecting it to another computer in fastboot mode?
Not yet, unfortunately I have no other computer to my direct disposition (except the university ones). Also, I would also have to install the drivers which apparently fails for the one I need.

1) that isnt fastboot mode. fastboot mode is pressing and holding vol up AND down and the power button
Thanks for the quick reply.
I managed to boot into fastboot mode - CWM is gone, the only option available is "Start".
My phone still doesn't get recognized, the error I get from Windows is "unable to install galaxy nexus bootloader driver".

sigh. use the volume buttons to select recovery mode.
just that screen however is fastboot. as far as the driver thing, you need to install the driver manually. follow step A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895

Thanks for your reply. The problem is, that navigating by means of the volume buttons didn't work. But at least my phone got recognized in fastboot mode. I'll try to reinstall the stock rom now.
Once the computer can communicate with the phone in fastboot, you are golden... just make sure you flash the right radio.
Managed to flash Stock 4.2.1 and everything works fine
Thanks a lot for your help guys!

[Q] Nexus 7 stuck at Google logo and can't unlock bootloader

Hi all
Interesting issue that I've searched here and Google for and not getting far, my searching skills may not be the best though as I'm fairly new to this.
My Nexus 7 was working fine, put it on the side, came back and it's turned off. Thinking it's flat I charge it and try to boot it with no success. Pressing the power for a while does get it to turn on but it gets as far as the Google logo and stays there.
I've factory reset it in the recovery and nothing
I've tried to flash the stock image from Google but when unlocking the bootloader it just sticks on "yes" forever and nothing happens.
What can I do at this point?
Cheers

Have you heard of Wugfresh Tool kit ? (aka Nexus Tool Kit) It is in the development section or you can google it. It is quite famous.
It will do anything actually from drivers to repair a device stuck on google logo. Just make sure you select the correct option.
You will need unlocked bootloader to flash stock images. And to do either of those, you will need drivers!
Install drivers and use it to recover your device. If you still have trouble, quote me back and I will help you to my best of ability.
Look into the forum before posting your questions. There are so many similar problems and you can easily find a solution by reading their questions and their possible solution.
Good Luck!
I'm having issues with my nexus 7 (2013). It will not boot up,it's stuck on Google logo. I am able to put in fastboot mode. I'd like to do a hard reset/wipe but I cannot enter recovery mode; it just goes to the Google logo and doesn't show me the recovery menu. I thought I could try doing it through adb but bootloader is locked. Downloaded WugFresh toolkit but it requires correct build number, which I do not know. I tried different ones but everything fails. AND USB debugging is not enabled, but I cannot do it through my tablet because it won't pass bootloop. I haven't been able to enable it remotely. So, any help with getting this tablet up and awake?! It's not rooted BTW, its running stock 6.0 marshmallow

Interesting, and troubling for you, I'm sure.
-- What do you mean, in fastboot it doesn't show you the recovery menu? If you are into (more properly) bootloader mode, the Recovery option has to be there. Do you mean you just can't select it, or that it won't work when you do select it?
-- Using fastboot, you might be able to boot into custom recovery without flashing it. (e.g. "fastboot boot twrp.img", not "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img".
-- Have you tried unlocking the bootloader via fastboot? Is it possible OEM Unlock is already/still enabled somehow?
-- Also.... Wug's NRT doesn't need the correct verion/build. The last option in the drop-down menu on the NRT is this: << Android *.*.* - Any Build >>
HTH
-- When i go into bootloader/fastboot mode, the option is there for recovery mode along with 'start' and 'power off',etc.. However, when I select it,it just hangs on Google logo and never shows me the Android man and recovery options.
-- Sorry, not sure what you mean by this: "Using fastboot, you might be able to boot into custom recovery without flashing it. (e.g. "fastboot boot twrp.img", not "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img"."
I may need some instructions on how to do this please.
-- I have tried unlocking bootloader via WugFresh and Nexus toolkit and via adb but it hangs on erasing user data and also hangs on 'unlock bootloader's screen (left it for over 12 hrs). I doubt anything is unlocked.
--Yes, I tried the "any build" option and nothing works.
Thank you
I'm open to any suggestions.

Ah, right. I didn't read closely, and didn't realize you might not have used fastboot tools... and please, I'm no expert, so if I'm saying somthing inaccurate, I very much hope someone will correct me.
I'm never sure how much a poster knows, so I'm not sure if you meant you don't know fastboot commands at all, or just the specific ones I mentioned .. fastboot commands are like ADB commands, but run in the bootloader environment. We know you have fastboot commands installed and fastboot drivers installed on your computer because you have adb installed - which includes fastboot, and you said WugFresh's tool was able to run, which means you also have the right fastboot drivers (the NRT uses the same fastboot commands).
fastboot can be used to flash/install custom recovery packages, among a whole lot of other things. So what I mentioned in that command was a possible way to maybe get into a custom recovery if you have to do things like wipes or whatever, even if you can't actually fully install the custom recovery. You might need to do this stuff, if you can't unlock your bootloader and flash the whole official Google Factory Image from their website (which is what I'd try - simple instructions are right there, too).
Flashing the full factory image will wipe your device, of course, but there are simple ways around that, which you can find on this very forum. Good luck.
Let us know how you get on.

I had a sort of similar issue while unlocking my bootloader today. I got to the part where you flash the A and B slots with the patched image, and upon reboot, both slots were seemingly unbootable. The way I got around it was to go into fastboot and boot the pre-rooted ULM image. (I can link it if you don't already have it.) That allowed me to boot all the way into Android. Not sure if it would work the same for your situation, but worth a shot since you're already in fastboot.

Hello @aaya888 -- My G7 is stuck on the fastboot screen. Can you help me with fixing it so I can flash stock kdz again? I bought a G7ULM online, but turns out to be a Sprint phone that was cross flashed. It was not getting OTA updates. I tried flashing Pie on it using LGUP, but it errored at 74% and now my phone stuck on fastboot screen. I've tried some of the other methods found online, but so far no success. I was wondering if you could help guide me through fixing my phone with QFIL. I want to flash an unlocked stock Pie (like GFI unlocked) that will work on t-mobile with all bands.
If you can help out in any way, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Try using LG Bridge to restore your phone using "Update error recovery" link under the Software Update tab. First though you do have to get into download mode for this to work. Hold down your volume up button while the phone is plugged into your PC via usb cable.
