Paranoid Android for Sprint GS3? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I wish I had developing skills as some of these other folks here have. I was running the paranoid android rom that kbizzle put out for the e4gt and it was to date the best rom I ever ran. Battery life was ridiculous, based on cm9, had the hybrid tablet ui.
Anyone working on a port?

No one is developing?

[Q] Best GB/ICS ROMs?

So I'm pretty new to the SGS2 scene (but not to the Android hacking scene) and I've just recently rooted. I've been looking at a few of the ROMs, and they all sound pretty good. I'm not such a fan of developer theming and bugs. Are there any GB/ICS ROMs that would suit my needs?
NOT PART OF THE ORIGINAL QUESTION: Another question that has been on my mind, but didn't want to start another thread: What is stopping us from building AOSP 2.3/4.0 ROMs? I've been a real sucker for vanilla ROMs. (Mods, let me know if this "illegal" and if I should just make a whole other thread.)
This thread is gonna be closed and your gonna be flamed to hell and back so I'll tell you nicely.
Do some reading and learning on your own and you will find out. What is best is subjective. The reason we don't have aosp has been covered millions of times and the answer is readily available.

You totally saved me. Thanks. Mods can close.
@least he posted it in the right section lol
We pretty much only have 2 bases 2.3.5 and 2.3.6
GB all the roms with current dates are pretty stable,Kernels are all pretty stable also. It just depends on what you want.Im on Malice right now you will have to go to rootz and find it Dan left his rom is fast stable and I get alot of life out of my battery 9 hrs heavy use and up to 18-20 with light use easy. Whitehawx speaks for its self, his roms are everywhere fast stable and tweaked to hell and back, M&S has nice roms with nice themes and amazing audio tweaks. TDJ's Rom is also amazing stock look fast stable tweaked to hell and back lol
Faux's, Eugene's and Mr.X "synergy" are all Kernels you can trust.
Hope this helps

the fact that we have no source for ics based off Samsung source nore do we have access to there proprietary drivers.
The fact is we have a ATT Leak that we used to build stock based ics and we have a AOSP rom that needs completion. ( working on that with Devs from the skyrocket).
I've been using the Bombardier ROM with Synergy kernel for months. Tried others and keep coming back. One of the main issues with the available ICS roms is they're based of a leaked AT&T build, so the kernel ain't quite right. Especially for things like auto rotate, which is all jacked up. I'm waiting for a t989 leak before trying ICS.

Just Dumped HTC One X + PLUS for S3 - Now What? Custom ROM or wait for Update?

HTC One X PLUS was had poor wifi reception in my home. Wifi Analyzer shows 20 dBm signal drop when you hold phone in your palm. Not with S3. All good now. But miss Sense + Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I know Jelly Bean stock update is probably happening within the next days/weeks for S3?? I'm a Power User but got everything on the HTC with JB to work the way I wanted using Widget Locker and Nova Launcher. HTC stock keyboard much better so Swiftkey 3 wasn't even necessary. Definitely need Swiftkey 3 on this 4.0 Touchwiz phone.
I spent hours and hours learning Android and setting up the HTC. Don't want to spend all weekend again. But also would like to be on 4.1.x. I was an iPhone Jailbreaker so I'm not afraid of rooting and/or custom ROM but I will be very frustrated with bugs or losing useful features just to get a custom ROM. I'm sure this has been asked 100 times but I think I've explained my usage goals enough to get a decent recommendation? I think a main goal if I do go custom ROM is I want the one that is the most established meaning, most likely to still be around as new devices are introduced 1, 2, 3 years from now. I'd prefer to not keep having to learn the quirks of a different ROM, but I'm also not married to Samsung Touchwiz.
a) Stick with ICS and wait for official JB update and just live with it?
b) Install JB 4.1.2 Custom ROM that is closest to stock? Which one?
c) Wait for stable custom ROM that is based on JB 4.2?
If (b) can someone post a link to the "Custom ROM for S3 Newbie Guide" ?
Thanks in advance.
My advice would be to test out some of the popular ROMs around here, such as: CM10, AOKP, AOCP, etc. There are also ROMs based on TouchWiz with rooted features that have been debloated.
I personally have been using Task650 AOKP for a while now. It offers great performance, battery life, customization, and stability. He offers great support and updates.
Ultimately only you can decide which is right for you as they're all slightly different and we all have different needs from our devices.
Read around the development sections and you'll find something to suit your needs in no time.
Task650 AOKP 4.1.2 JB. 11/18 Build
Underwear kernel (Intellidemand/Deadline)
Well after spending at least 25 hours setting up that HTC (much of it was first time using Android Learning Curve and getting Questions answered and app suggestions.) I'm sort of burnt out. I started reading and reading and reading more here and ran across these two threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869300&highlight=grey+7
And although rooting seems like no big deal, it seems there really isn't as far as I can tell a JB ROM that doesn't have at least some issues or lacks some Touchwiz features that may be missed?
I'm leaning toward (a) Wait for official 4.1 update. Should be any day now?

Is there a stable Touchwiz based ROM, debloated, based on JB 4.1 I should consider? I really am not interested in "custom" I'm just interested in as close to stock Touchwiz ROM but just JB instead of ICS. And something that when Official OTA update is out, I can switch to that if desired.

Head over the development section, not original just development and check out the thread started by Drewgaren. I haven't personally tried it as I prefer AOKP, but I've heard it's a nearly perfectly working JB TouchWiz based ROM.

This looks like what I would want. This video seems to confirm:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzJR3I6nLvA
But is there version for I747 and there's no issues?
Does the official OTA update require a reinstall and reconfig of all apps?
After skipping around all 742 pages of the CleanROM thread (geez) sounds like exactly what I want. Problem is, it's for Verizon I535 S3, not the AT&T I747 S3. So what's the closest thing to CleanROM that works for AT&T I747?
I think that Frosty JB and Black jelly ...both are bug free Tmobile ports. Both are stock...or near stock touchwiz. Frosty is straight stock and black jelly has a few mods/ theme ...but they both have been flawless for me. You can find them in the SGH-I747 development section easily. I have tried all the ao•p original ROMs and they all had some form of compromise.
Just my 3¢

Nexus Roms

Hiya everyone,
So I just became a Galaxy Nexus owner as of yesterday, and wondering what support is out there for this phone dev side as well whats everyones fav rom? I'm quite happy with the stock AOSP 4.2.1, however I do miss some customization of roms like from CM and AOKP when I was a S2/One X owner.
Wondering if its really worth that much of a change though however to go custom? I used to build on the S2 side of things so if there seems to be a strong community on the Nexus side maybe I'll reboot the old linux box.

You couldn't just look in the development section? And there is no favorite rom for everyone. I use slim but everyone has their own preference. No offense but I'd have expected a Dev to know better.
Try Xylon, custom toggle, custom navbar, custom status bar, custom kernel, custom .... Blablabla
A powerful mix of many CM, AOKP improvements and mainly lag and bug free

I did look through the dev section, hence why I'm asking what people run. I don't feel like sitting at my computer all day downloading and flashing roms. I'm really looking for a decent rom thats up to date with AOSP at 4.2.1
No offense but I like to get involvement from people around me and get to know a new community a little better.
Do try Black Bean AOKP. I found this one a very complete and stable ROM in my starting days with Nexus.

Hmmm, why don't you try building as you used to do on your S II and customize your ROM the way you wish? Actually this is what I settled on after trying so many ROMs on my S II and I am following the same way with my GNex. I feel great and satisfied when I am running my own ROM and I may even bear some bugs in it just because it is mine
This is the only experience I can help you with because this is the only ROM I use
try taking a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802692 it has rom comparisons in terms of features in their google doc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AggpxyzXBu--dEZMWnZTUWtMVXBpdHNteW5zTXpRVmc#gid=1

I may just have to do this, as I'm not looking to go down to 4.1.2, and the only 4.2.1 roms I've tried thus far actually haven't gone past the bootscreen logo oddly enough.
rasbean jelly is a wonderful aosp based rom, its always updated to be up to date with the latest aosp, asap. speaking of, it was updated minutes ago http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=rasbeanjelly&device=maguro

Codename Android here. It's Jb 4.1 and is rock solid for me. Love the stock feel and plenty of customizations. I've tried paranoid android and bugless beast, but always come back to CNA.

For me 4.2 is a total dissapointment,i'm still running 4.1.2 on CNA 3.8.0,the best i found out there. Tried all the 4.2 roms and all of them had that lockscreen delay that was driving me nuts so I decided remaining on 4.1.2 for a while. Also tried all the 4.1 roms but the best that fits my wishes is CNA with a stock look and tons of customization, along with faux' latest kernel, 23m-sr
Paranoidandroid hands down, no rom on this site is comparable when it comes to speed, smoothness, customizations and battery life all rolled into one, others may have one of those better but none have the combination and NONE have the amount of options.
What I am using currently can be found in my signature below.
If you're looking for a stock ROM that's merely been rooted and deodexed, bigxie's ROMs are solid and popular.
If you want a lean, clean, fast ROM with only the most useful modifications, it would be hard to beat Rascarlo's ROMs.
If you want ROMs with mods galore, some of the most popular ones are CyanogenMod, CodenameAndroid, and ParanoidAndroid. But there are plenty of others with dedicated followers.
I'm using Mmuzzy's AOSP 4.2.1 with kmameguy's MODs. I have the nice CM circle percent battery and other MODs, with the stability of 4.2.1 (as stable as it gets ATM) and probably 15-20 hours on battery. I don't think there are a lot of customizations on any 4.2 ROMs yet, as they're dealing mostly with stability issues. I've tried Factory, Vanir's beta, Xylon, and others... none have been super impressive to leave Mmuzzy's...

New dinc for me ROMs?

I bought the dinc after my commando was smashed by a semi last week. I have a little experience with custom roms and this is my third android based phone. I received the phone yesterday and it will be rooted by me tomorrow. But I wanted to know what roms you guys find to be best also any tweaks that are useful. This phone a three years old and I know you guys have come up with some dos and don't so rather than reinventing the wheel I figured IDE use my first post to list what I'm looking for and see what you recommend.
Stability stability stability! I won't be changing every week once I find one I like that will be it. I can't devote the time to constantly update and tweak it plus this is my daily driver so I need it to work above all else.
Speed I know these guys don't have the fastest processors so if i have to choose between load speed and looking cool or cute animations I choose speed.
Battery life I'm running a 2800 mah slim battery but I spent that money because I don't want to charge it not to waste battery life.
Media I do use my phone extensively to play music, watch, movies, photos, photos, photos, anything that optimizes these features I'm all about trying out.
Also anything I should stay away from do to extensive bugs ect please let me know. I will read all I can about these roms as you suggest them and of course report how they do for me here as well as the phandriod.com site. Thanks in advance for all the knowledge I'm about to get hit with ill try not to ask too many stupid questions

Thanks tiny! There are soooo many of them which is good but are there any standouts? What are the major differences between the GB and the aosp? i know on my og evo the aosp roms seemed to save batt but that all i know and i don't really know that. I do like the miui icons tbh but I think I can use those with whatever rom but I like the minimalist if nature of the miui setup.
I have rooted three phones and installed custom roms on them but am really brand new to the android or smart phone game only been messing with droids for 3 months now. Idk just looking for info are there any seance or Gb roms you think I should stay away from.?

This is pretty much the only evo. What was good on that device is good here. Rom names are different. If you want a pure stock sense rom then I recommend cmlusco's rom. CM 7.2 is the best aosp gingerbread rom IMO.

[Q] Opinion on best ROM for my needs?

I have the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II (Galaxy Hercules) and I am wondering what you guys think is the best ROM for great battery life, good performance and lots of customization? I am familiar with cyanogenmod, miui, and paranoid android; however, I have not gotten to try any yet- just read about them. It seems like people like paranoid android, but I am very picky about my icons and the look of my interface. I like the new Nexus look and some of the newer cleans icons, and will love a ROM with plenty of customization. Thanks!
Edit: If my phone can run Jelly Bean 4.2.2, then that is preferred but not needed for the ROM
AOKP. Look for it in the dev section. The Milestone update 1 should be suitable for your needs. Also it comes with the Nexus boot animation so that will be nice
CM is having a couple of problems with the recent nightlies that's why AOKP.
Start flashing and you be the judge. Most will say the same.
