For the life of me, I cannot find a way to change the default voicemail number for the Sprint SGS3. I have tried looking in Phone | Menu | Call Settings | Voicemail Settings but do not see it anywhere. Am I missing the obvious or is it not possible? I use YouMail as my voicemail and I would like to press and hold key number 1 to dial YouMail voicemail but it always dials Sprint's voicemail.
Has anyone been able to change this...?
Been searching as well and no luck... Dont think its currently possible

Hey everyone...so I've read that it is possible to set up Google Voice for my carrier's visual voicemail. I tried doing it by going to google.com/voice, logging in, adding my carrier's number, and activating it, but when I go to the Voice app, it says my carrier isn't set up to use Google Voicemail or something along those lines.
I'm hoping there's someone with an EVO who uses Google Voice to display voicemail for primary/carrier number. If someone knows how to do it, please tell me how you set it up! Thanks
The talk app can't do it automatically. Go to Google.com/voice. There is a spot in the settings for voicemail that tells you what to dial to setup conditional call forwarding on Sprint.

I received that message too. Like, jabba said, you just activate your number through google voice. They'll give you a number to dial into the key pad that starts with a *xxxxxxxxxxx. When you click "call" you'll hear a couple beeps then the call disconnects after 3 seconds.
Also, you might have to go into the phones voicemail settings (through the voice mail widget) and set it to google voice (instead of carrier VM).
I did this today and tested it out. Works perfectly.
Is there any way to reduce the number of rings before VM pickup when using the conditional forwarding to google voice? I had it set up for a while but it took so long to pick up that I switched it back to the sprint visual vm.
One cannot alter the number of rings
before voicemail hits on Sprint's network. This is a carrier setting.

Thank you. I did that last night but wasn't sure if it worked because I was still getting that popup

I also read about this that some people were NOT receiving calls and it would go straight to voicemail. Has this been the case with any of you?

it is, its *86...it says its not valid
Call your own phone number, that should work.
Or get Google Voice. Try it. Trust me.
im having the same problem. i use google voice and still get the voicemail notification. I have changed the sprint voicemail number from the *86 to my phone number. didnt work. using google voice now and i still get the *86 notification. its not a really big issue, just a nuisance having to go into the settings and clearing the notification when i dont have any voicemail.
I know a lot of people really like google voice, but I actually prefer youmail. Easy to setup, simple interface. Make sure your voicemail settings match the app you are using to access your voicemail.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone else is missing the backup assistant on this ROM?
Also, the voicemail tab within the messaging app is gone and I can't figure out how to check it without manually dialing *86 every time... Help?
Also, when I dialed ##3282 and entered edit mode, there is a ton of Sprint garbage in there....I did download the Dinc ROM, so this is very strange to me... Any ideas why Sprint info and addresses are in there?
Thanks !
The VM tab in the messaging app was for Visual Voice mail and that is not in the ROM. You can dial voice mail in the dialer by pressing and holding the 1 . That is the speed dial for voice mail.
The sprint stuff is because the ROM came from a sprint based phone. All the important VZW stuff is changed. That is also why BA is not part of the ROM.
I've searched and search but only found the obvious answers I wasn't looking for. My question is:
Is there any way to change the 1 to dial google voice and still keep my google voice and sprint numbers separate? I already have GV working on my phone the way I want, but I wanted to have the 1 call the google voice instead of Sprint VM. It seems the only way to do that is change my number to either Sprint and lose my GV number or change to GV and lose my Sprint number. Is there a script I can flash or edit to make 1 dial the GV instead of Sprint VM?

I've been looking for this too. It seems the 'voice mail provider' option in the "phone" settings menu doesn't exist on Samsung GS3 like it does on HTC devices.
I gave up after searching and just added my GVoice mail number to 2.
Annoying as crap tho
Hi all, I've been asking around on AC forums and haven't got an answer yet, but going to see if tomorrow I can get to an ATT store for tech help. No help on the phone at all, just 3 different Tech reps going over the same thing again and again, with no result. Tried third party apps Google Voice and Youmail, can't even get the access codes to go through. The phone seems to be having errors, because it's looking for the Verizon Voicemail and even though I was able to set speed dial #2 for dialing ATT's Voicemail service, all I get is Missed Call notifications. Not every missed call leaves a voicemail, so would like some sort of Notification to alert me to my voicemails. Need this feature a lot. When I dial the access codes or even try changing to the ATT voicemail their Way with Holding down "1" , all i get is Call can't be completed and an error code. Also a message at the top of keypad screen saying No Sim, Sim Error. To me it seems like it's trying to dial the Verizon number, and it can't because of being on ATT. Has anyone had this problem?
Does anybody know a workaround. I was able to get google voice forwarded to my cell phone number, but doesn't still give a notification. I do get emails sent, even though send a text is clicked on Google Voicemail. Also spent time with their tech support with no help there. Notifications is Set and I have an alert for it on the Phone's Voicemail setting, so that's not working either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You can set att voicemail to speed dial 1. I don't know the number. I just downloaded att visual voicemail app and got it to work. In order to set voicemail you need to go to settings>aplications>call>voicemail settings. Then input the number you're trying to use. It will save it as speed dial #1
