I am very interested in the features of kernels such as DoomKernel, however bacuase of some differences in the ramdisk, most of these alternative kernels do not work with Cyanogen Mod 7 and 9 distributions. Do you have any suggestions about other existing kernles that work with CM on sony xperia arcdevices?
Thank you in advance!

we can usually say that there are no kernels for Cm roms.
except the outdated cm7 doomlord kernel.
for cm9 there are no kernels except its own FXp kernel ,
but u will find the fxp cm9 kernel with some additional Governors. in our android development section
Thank you for your reply ArcMan09!
Now I have it clear that basically there are no prebuilt alternative kernels for CM roms.
Actually what I am interested in is not CPU governors but kernel support for additional filesystems (ext2,3,4,ntfs) and USB OTG. I hope Cyanogen Mod developers can consider adding these modules to the standard kernel at sometime in the future.

Hey i thinks there is no other alternative as cm gives its own kernel which is apt..
and there is no prob using that kernel...

can any one suggest the best cm9 kernal for my ARC
thanks for helping
Pretty sure for CM9 you can only use the included CM9 kernel.
Yes, only the cm 9 kernel for now. Because the other kernels are based on Sonys kernel, whereas cm 9 was written from scratch. also questions should be in q and a, this forums for development related topics only. If you want a new kernel because of battery issues fxp have said the optimization is in the pipe line

is it possible to make an ics kernel for sgy to work with CM9 or AOKP roms...
or we can use any Gingerbread kernel like Merruk Technology 2.0 kernel to compile CM9 or AOKP for sgy...
what feature are needed to run ICS that couldn't found in stock GB rom from SGY?
Actually, the 2.6.x.x series of Linux kernels works fine with ics, so there is no need for a 3.x.x.x kernel.
Although if you are interested we could make a team and compile it
well i say go for it if it has more benefits than bugs tat are gona hopefully be fixed eventually

hi all !
i just flashed cm 10.1 official and it is great so far except for the superuser issue
so i tried to flash a franco kernel as i always do , franco r325 and all my phone went dead force crashing everywhere , without panicking i formatted my phone and i downloaded the r345 kernel but it seems to be an img file something cwm can't flash so i decided to try trinity kernel but i am not sure which is made for 4.2 so i am not taking the risk of flashing a random one then it struck me ...why do i even need to flash kernels anyway? isn't stock kenel the same? so can someone enlightnen me?
Custom kernels allows you to overclock and undervolt the CPU and GPU.
Some custom kernels also add extra features that a stock kernel does not have; fast charge mod, kernel sound mod etc.
kernels control pretty much every aspect of your device. they connect your cpu to your os and hardware. custom kernels add functuality that isnt included with the stock kernel, as well as performance and battery enhancements. google the the word kernel or linux kernel for more info.
now about your issue.. cm made some modifications that made many custom kernels non bootable on cm. franco kernel in the img format isnt flashable via recovery but is flashable via fastboot or the franco kernel app. trinity kernels latest 4.2.1 kernel is alpha10, but the 4.1.2 kernels also run on 4.2.1.
Hi, i was wondering if the Eternity custom kernel will work on stock and custom roms. The kernel seems to have various improvements to the CPU and GPU including 1.7GHz overclock. Found here: http://www.eternityproject.eu/topic/48-eternityproject-kernel-34-for-htc-one-x-endeavoru/
Also has anyone used a custom kernel and thought it was better than stock?
Cheers
It will only work on ICS ROMs but an update to JB compatibility is in progress.
Thanks for the answer, i will be happy to wait Looks a good kernel.
Is there any kernel for CM11 ROMs that supports entropy tweaks, more governors and maybe overclocking/undervolting for the XperiaM?
Maybe someone can do this?
Any devs interested?
Thanks in advance.
