I just upgraded to a sprint Galaxy s3 from the Epic 4g. The Epic was a great phone but it's been starting to do some wierd stuff, and I just needed an excuse to upgrade. I was very active over in the Epic 4g section, and ran many different roms etc...The epic is rooted, which probably makes no difference for the purpose here. or maybe it does. I want to be able to migrate my stuff over to the s3 as painlessly as possible.
1)Will the paid apps in the google store still be mine to use on the s3 as long as they're associated to my username and google account?
2)if my calender and contacts are synced to google, will those just migrate over easily?
3) what should i do now with the epic, while its still live, to make sure that I'm set to move everything over?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Marcel

1. The paid apps you bought are linked to the gmail account you used to purchase them, once you sign in go to the play store and redownload the apps
2. I'm not sure.

Well i planned on getting the $60 that sprint is offering for the Epic4g. It'll probably just sit in a drawer if i don't.
Yes, yes and save the epic 4g for when you have to send your
gs3 in to have the cracked screen replaced.
Enjoy

If you're gonna sell it, do it over eBay or craigslist. You can a lot more than 60 for it

you guys think I should save the Epic? Huh... I'm gonna give that some thought. All the other phones i ever kept i ended up giving away to somebody that needed a phone or they just sat in the drawer. This is the first phone that i could get a few bucks for. I keep the sprint insurance on my phones for repairs, it cost me $8 a month for the insurance.

Thats only for new subscrbers. I'm getting the 32gb gs3 for $249 as an upgrade thru sprint online. I thought that wasn't too bad.

I upgraded from the epic. If you were using cm9, as soon as you log in the phone will automatically set itself up exactly as it was before. I logged in, phone downloaded about 50 apps, it even restored my Wi-Fi settings by itself. Didn't expect that one. Only thing I lost was program data and I had to pair the Bluetooth. If you weren't on cm9, you can get app bak, save a list to the sd card in the epic, put it in the gs3 and restore like that too. Probably better to just go to the market and click the download history tab and stay fresh though.
I sold my epic for $120 on Craigslist, took two days to find a buyer.
The rom I'm on now is Touchwiz MTD. MarcussantRom v3. It's an older ROM but I liked it so much I just stuck with it. If I'm not mistaken, the TW roms should be recognized as stock by the market even though its MTD. I aways recieved app updates , with no problems.
Didn't they say the same thing about the Epic 4g screens cracking easily? I never had a problem with that screen cracking...and it certainly wasn't from a lack of abuse. I'm a contractor, I wear my phone on my hip all day, climbing ladders, banging into stuff, dropping it, it's encased in a SEIDIO armor though.
I really loved the Epic 4g and Android OS, which is why i wanted a next gen Samsung Galaxy. Plus the learning curve should be next to nil because they are very similar except for speed improvements. I might miss the slide out keyboard though, fingers crossed.:fingers-crossed:
The phone should be here today..
Another Question: Wheres the sprint Samsung Galaxy s3 developers thread and the rooting info for the sprint s3? This forum is gigantic, it's easy to get lost in the weeds here!
Marcel
Everything saved to your Google account will be restore to the new phone or any phone you log into.
Calendar, contacts and apps will have to get downloaded again.
If you have titanium Backup you can move the folder to the S3 and you can restore the apps w/data like that.
Only problem is if you were using a GB rom than you my have problems with them. Just un install and install again.
Good luck.
Oh, yeah! Sell the phone. No need for it. Unless you want a back up just in case.

What about text messages? I have some texts that I save for business that I would like to transfer over. I don't think those can be synced over to google but maybe i can save them to the epic sd card and move the file over to the galaxy if I knew which one to move?
There are many free apps in the play store that can save and restore those texts and mms. I use mybackup root. Works great. I have also used sms backup and restore.
I also came from the epic. My screen finally broke or I wouldn't have switched. I definitely miss the kb. You lose so much screen space when the on screen kb is up. It was so easy to slide the kb open and start doing something. If a new high-end slider rears it's head I will scoop it up immediately.

1- yes they still yours me personally I use my backup pro to do a complete back up from another phone I did this with my S2 to my S3 works great hope this helps
2- yes your contacts, calendar stay the same
3-keep it or sell it on ebay or something

Everything worked out great. I didn't lose a thing. The only thing i lost was a few old VVM voicemails which were not that important. The SMS backup app worked great to reload the texts back into the new phone. I did reinstall all the apps from the market since i wanted a fresh install. The market not only had all my paid apps listed but also every app free app I had downloaded in the past.
It worked out great!
The phone is now rooted and awaiting custom ROMS.

Hey Everyone... Originally when I got my GNEX, I could have sworn that when I tried to unlock/root it, it had been easier than a lot of the instructions, but I didn't think too much about it at the time. (I got it directly from a VZW wireless store) I think at this point, it was already unlocked. Now that I've changed phones, I wanted to prep this one for selling, and I was trying to follow instructions on how to reset/relock the phone, but it doesn't seem to let me lock it with the fastboot oem lock commands... but if this is an engineering build, should I even bother? Or can I sell it as is and just state factory unlocked?
Here is an image of my "About Phone" after flashing back the google images that I downloaded from here: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/mysid-icl53f-factory-65895fa8.tgz

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask, but I tried -looking- for a factory unlocked CDMA version to judge it against, and can't even seem to find any, am I just missing something? Are people selling them somewhere else?
You won't find a "Factory Unlocked" model, AFAIK they don't make them. What you have is somewhat unique, although not that useful since it's a Nexus device. If you want more info on what exactly you have this thread has a decent overview if you read the first 2 pages: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461386 Bottom line, your fine to sell it as is.
To the right person you will get more just because it is an engineering model! If I were you I would bank on that!!

I thought about that too when I first read the post. But, since this is a Nexus device to begin with, does that really get you anything?
I doubt it gets you anything but I want one lol. I'd pay maybe $20 more than a normal one but beyond that I'd get a stock. Someone may want it just to have it like me though.

Will do. Kinda bummed about the selling prices in general, haven't been able to decide what to list it for. Gonna throw it up with no reserve and see what happens.

If its rare people will pay, just due to the fact that no one else can get it.
I personally am the type of person you want to sell this to. I buy tons of stuff for hundreds more just because I collect tech.
***Speaking of which, if anyone knows someone that owns an original 20gb PS3 I am looking to spend $400 or more depending on condition. Been looking for 3 years. Also looking for a copy of Super Metroid for SNES, I`ll pay $60 with out box, $100 in box***
Anyways yeah, if I didn`t already own a Galaxy Nexus and was not in the process of looking for a Galaxy S2 White (perferably from France to use here in Canada) I`d pay around $800 easy.

No I don't sorry.
Only reason I threw out the $800 number is because, really its not that much more you'd pay buying a "normal" phone really.
I still remember paying something like $700 after tax for the Xperia x10 (ouch bad device) and another $700 for the Xperia Arc (Better device but still too much IMO)
$800 is not that big of a jump, and you are getting something truly unique.
***On a side note: I bought the Xperia x10 and my wife's first iphone, the white 3GS the same day...I think the total was like $1400. Imagine my surprise learning my brand new "latest tech" android didn't support multitouch....mmm still feel that burn! Oh well I guess 2 finger touch ended up being supported later, but by then I was on the Samsung Captivate. Loved the Captivate!***

Used daily for about 3 weeks daily, with a screen protector installed @ verizon when I bought it. Somehow it still managed to get a tiny line in it near the front camera in the upper right... you have to have the light hit it just right to see it, I tried getting it in the pictures here but could not. I took the screen protector off now to show how clean the real screen is, there's some dust on it though.
The pictures came out a bit too big that I'd want to post here, you can see them here:

Anyways, just won $1000 gift card by beating them at the challenge
Post a status update to both facebook and twitter.
I got so lucky for getting this challenge! Even iPhones can win this! lol. There are many apps that allows us to do this, but damn it felt great to win.
let me just start off that the microsoft workers are really cool guys, they weren't trying to deny my win or anything, but were congratulating me with it.
But yeah came in, the greeter told the manager that i'm here to do the challenge. The greeter was really nice about everything telling me how someone just won earlier that day and told me what kind of challenges are asked. He actually helped confirmed that the app I used is fairly well known because the challenger never even heard of it lol.
But yeah the challenger comes out, asked me a couple questions, went through with telling me how things should be done. Restarted my phone, picked a card out of 6, got the said challenge and agreed to post "Hello". Turned on the phone, he told us to connect to store's wifi (you can actually use this time to set up anything just in case ahem ahem)..
put the phone down. He told us he'll count to 3 and we'll unlock the phones and do the challenge. that's when the manager was approaching. As soon as the manager got there, "3!" my phone lagged like a second more to unlock! UGH, but thank god I use swype. "Hello" DONE!. the guys were dumbfounded. the challenger only just entered the app, and only managed to type "h" when I actually waited for my thing to finished updating before yelling out done.. just precautionary measure in case they try to cheat by saying.. you can't say done when it didn't finish uploading lol. But yeah, it took no longer than 2 seconds after the manager got to us.
He asked me to show him what I did, and asked me if it posts to both accounts, and I'm like yeah, this app is actually used on computers too. He was like oh that's cool, he then said "I'm gonna have to check if widgets are allowed, I'm sure it is, but I just have to check to make sure."
He comes back, "yep, there is nothing against widgets, here's your giftcard, come over here so I can set everything up and get your info"
he announced the world that I won through his microphone... I asked to be escorted out because of that announcement. jk.. i didn't ask for escorts lol. But a couple girls approached me and asked what I'm doing afterwards .
no jk again... sigh...
That's awesome congratulations dude.

Oh they still do the challenge at every microsoft store throughout the country lol.
The challenge is different though. This is actually the 2nd extension of the original challenge so it is considered "ROUND 3."
You can no longer swap phones if you lose, instead, you get a $25gift card.
You no longer win the hunger games laptop, instead you win a $1000 gc, which I think is better.
tomorrow is the last day! So if you want to try it out then you best do it tomorrow!
maybe they will extend the challenge again! but who knows.
What! Man I'm always out of the loop then find out at the end lol. Did you have to unroot for the challenge? And what challenges do they do? Did you find any apps to be useful? I know you only had to do the status update, but I read that you were doing your homework on this stuff lol.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
There are 6 challenges:
1. take a picture, tag it, post on fb
2. send a message to a friend on fb and text the same person
3. check movie showtimes at the closest theater
4. check the status of your SO or close friend and text that person
5a/b. translation foreign language to english or english to foreign
6. status update to fb and twitter (the one i got woot)
1. Don't think our phone can win this, couldn't find a good app for it. Talked to the microsoft people and apparently their phone actually autotags it, a feature we don't have. I actually think only HTC's sense and their fb integration has a chance at this. (we'll lose this one)
2. gosms + gosms facebook chat, you can make a group text with this
3. cinemadroid is the best one, it downloads the movietimes for you and caches it, You might have trouble downloading movie showtimes in certain cities.. it takes forever... but it eventually gets it... alternative use flixter and click the movie theater not the movie they ask for because clicking on the theater automatically shows all showtimes
4. contapps, you need to fiddle with it
5. google goggles (we'll lose this one)
6. tweetdeck's widget, remember you need to click on/enable fb when you use the widget, it is design to automatically enable twitter but not fb (you'll see what I mean).
however some stores don't go by using cards and actually chooses the challenge themselves (cheap)
We basically have automatic wins at 2,3, and 6 if you don't fumble. cinemadroid is one click and you're done that is our for sure win
4. this one is a little tougher to do..
5. you'll be going against their bing translator which is similar to our google goggles but they have it precached -_- rigged
technically we have about 58% chance of winning considering #4 to be 50/50
I would say if you can't do any of the challenges within 3-4 secs, consider it a loss.

lol i was in the middle of posting my tips for you when you already replied, but yeah that's the best I can do. for contapps there is a tab to look at your contacts recent fb status post. choose the STATUS POST (not sure on actual term) not their fb page you'll see when you play with the app. they have you READ aloud your friend's status, so my tip for this is to just remember what your friend said, and click on that tab real quick and switch to the text tab within the same app and text him whatever you guys agree upon.
edit: oh you must link it with your social hub's facebook. so contact sync your social hub's facebook or something like that.
oh and yeah I unrooted because modified OS is against the rules... in reality, i went back to stock, removed some bloatware and deleted superuser. just don't remove all bloatware, leave some t-mobile stuff on there. The microsoft employees don't know the difference, but in case they do, it's best to remove superuser.
Thanks, I am going to give it a try tomorrow! Just one more idea, with FriendCaster Pro you can sync your contacts facebook statuses with your contact list

crap, I meant the challenge is over today!
the friendcaster pro status sync is way too slow and you want to text the person too.
contapps have them both built in and they're instant. there is no load period. I'm telling you, if you can't check the status and send him a text message in like 3 secs you'll lose because their widget uhh "deeplinks" does that from their homescreen

It says that rooted phones are not allowed, but I suppose it will depend on each individual employee as to if they actually check or not. You could download a launcher that allows you to hide apps from the app drawer and hide su. Couldn't really see them checking for anything else.

Hi all. I'm looking for some help with sprint as the title says. I love the E4GT but I have had like 6 replacements since November (when I bought the phone) and apparently sprint doesn't want to do anything but give me the same phone or the conquer, but obviously this isn't acceptable. So I have been on the phone with a store employee or a csr everyday for the past two weeks but no one seems to understand the trouble I have had to go through to get absolutely nowhere.
A little back ground: last year I had the Evo shift and I had various problems with the replacements but most notably one that I took to the store on the same day I got it and found out that the MB had corrosion. So Sprint, after much haggling, gave me an upgrade and I bought the E4GT. the issues with the E4GT have been updates bricking the phone, capacitive buttons activating without being pressed, overheating, and camera malfunctioning. Any advice on where to go next or what to do would be appreciated.

Having worked in customer service. You are a complainer. Doesn't make you a bad guy its just who you are. You had the shift complained enough to get E4GT, now you want to keep complaining until you get another one. And when you go to a store and they will see your record. That's all they will see is that you are a complainer. It doesn't matter what carrier you go to. They still buy the same manufacturers phones for the most part. They aren't going to give you another free upgrade. Which is what you want. Let's just cut to the chase. It sounds like you want an Iphone. Instead of complaining to trying and get one. You sell your E4GT and buy the Iphone that you want.

not trying to fight here but im a complainer because i have not had a phone for a month though im paying for service. and yes i have thought about an iphone because im not loyal to a manufacturer. also it becomes a problem when i can't even get an E4GT anymore because of having too many replacements within a year, while also not being given any good replacement option or anything. i would pay the etf but i dont think i should have to given my luck with their services.
someone else got any advice or input?

I'm not arguing...just stating the obvious....the squeaky wheel get's oiled. Your not squeaking enough.
Be persistent, stand your ground, and if all else fails, email corporate.
Your posts are intelligent, which means you can craft a very concise email explaining your troubles. Explain exactly what you want and how you want it. Then if that doesn't work, write another....and then another. Complain louder and eventually your cry's will fall on sympathetic ears. Just know that there is no magic combination. I've been told that 3 replacements and you can choose a different device. Honestly, there's only one device better than our and that's the S3.
Good luck.
(note...what he said...only more nicely)
Ok well thanks for making my case.
If you haven't gotten service fora month call customer service for your credit. Seems easy enough? For having worked in customer service. I have little sympanty when you refuse to take replacement device. Ohh why because it won't work like the last one. That a very defeatest attitude. And its no wonder you aren't happy. NO phone is perfect. But I'm sure you know this. What you want is a free phone for nothing. YOU ARE LIMITING YOUR OPTIONS!!!!
1. Pay the ETF and leave. People with good credit have that option.
2. Sell the phone and buy another one. You can get a good 150-200 for it
3. Quit complaining
4. Try the conquer, maybe it will stop you from complaining. But I doubt it.
For the complaining that you have done at the sprint store, over the phone, and now coming here. You could have worked a part time temp job for a couple weeks to paid for another phone by now. What you want is a free phone go to another board if you want a way to scam them.
Call up Samsung for a sammich.

No trolling, you wanted help. I didn't tell you what you wanted to hear.
My bad didn't know I had to play down to my competition here. Its unfortunate that out of all the other options I present. Complaining is the only one you see as a viable option. That's sad
i had an issue when i bricked my phone lol jk.. but naw man, you need to figure out what it is your doing to mess up your phones..we honestly have one of the best phones from sprint besides (like said already) the sgs3. how could u go through six devices lol. either way sounds like sprint already helped you once in letting you upgrade early and they wont do it again. so you had issues with your evo shift too? sounds fishy.. gotta love it when people dont tell the story right. how about buying a phone outright? then upgrade when its time like the rest of us

I'm all for against corporate greed and the first to advocate for consumer's rights...but 6 phones with "problems." And you also had issues with prior phones. You sure you're not causing the issues? I was somewhat with you until you acknowledged that you did think about the Iphone. So maybe there is more to your story that you're letting us to believe. I believe you received fair advice on what you should do.

you need to be transfer to the retention department explain your story. Try and get a record for all thr e tocket info and replacement records. Then ask to be xfered to the multipule devices departmentthey will help u out. Ask for an other device or a non referb replacement. Sprint CSRs are mostly under educated or badly trained . Its just fact they are horri fic. I am dealing with multipule people on the higer levels right now they email me and i have dorect numbers. If u need assitance PM me . I am in the middle of a huge deal right now where they are actually throttling data and they admit to the problem but claim they dont have control thet have multi sent devices too.

lol cool story bro.. so your deep in a deal with sprint and have them admitting to throttling? whats your point exactly? retention dept is the dept that saves customers from cancelling service.. if its that hard for him to get a new phone im sure hed get the go ahead and cancel with etf or else they would have offered him a upgrade already.. and what is the multiple devices dept? a special team to deal with repeat offenders who every phone they have has issues somehow to obtain new phones?

Yeah its pretty hard to type on my phone lol..sorry. But yes those are the correct steps about going to get a new phone. The retention department usally takes situations more serious and are usally more willing to direct your call properly. I guess a lot of peoe are use to prints ****ty customer service..u need to control the situation as much as u can or saddly u wont get much.
Sorry for the typos..lol my phone to is all jacked up theyre tying to send me a different phone now this is my thrid one! Always trwated perfect not a drop or sxratch 2 days old my i ad..heres to the referbs jk lol..

OK so I'm sure you'll accuse me of trolling like the other guy who gave reasonable advice... but you talk about the evo shift and its "replacements" (plural!) and how this got you a free upgrade, now you've gone through e4gt's at a rate of almost one a month since you've bought the damn thing. Newsflash dude, they boot loyal, on time paying customers of years for using too much roaming data, in the past few years they've eliminated all of the awesome legacy discounts that they used to offer via retentions (eg I used to get a 40% monthly statement credit, seriously) I've been on sprint for 12 years now, have 4 lines with them, and always pay my bill on time and they still just let me out of my contract and said take your business elsewhere after I complained about the loss of said discount (I ended up staying as sprint was still cheaper than vzw or att). Long story short you are costing them money, they don't care if you're happy and if you keep pushing them they'll end your contract. This may excite you but keep in mind sprint is consistently rated the highest in customer service, so good luck pulling this kind of crap on another carrier, I'll doubt you have much luck...
Furthermore how have you had multiple phones bricked by updates? And even if this is really the case only the ICS update could brick it unrecoverably... does not seem possible that you've had more than one e4gt brick taking the OTA to ICS, if that... capacitive button wonkyness is a known ICS bug, and not necessarily a hardware problem, you should have downgraded to GB or tried other ICS ROMs if it bothered you that much.... overheating also most likely has its source in a software problems (an app is causing it), not hardware.... also what do you mean by overheating? These things are passively cooled, if you use it a lot doing intensive things its going to get HOT.... lastly camera malfunctioning? Seriously? What does that even mean, also the camera is modular, I would imagine the sprint tech would have just replaced it as opposed to sending out a refurb if that was the actual issue.
To sum up this long rambling post the problem is not with the phone, its you... it is statistically impossible that you've somehow managed to get god knows how many "bad" evo shifts followed by 6 "bad" e4gt's... sprint isn't going to do anything for you nor do I think they should.... take the advice already offered and just buy a damn iPhone, clearly you can't differentiate between hardware and software issues, and apple will be happy to help you, they'll make a fortune off you as you'll probably be the most frequent genius bar customer ever

What I want to know is how you were able to convince Sprint to upgrade you and give you a monthly supply of replacement phones. That is what I call negotiating!
Hello,
So I have 3 Samsung Galaxy S 3's and two of them are for Verizon and one for T-mobile... I have had nothing but issues with one of my Verizon models and my T-mobile is no better... So I sent it in to Samsung for repair and I noted that I had several different problems, such as screen flickering, home button sticking, power button falling off and random reboots. They received my phone yesterday and now today they claim that it is fixed and it says this in my notes " SOLUTION: Replaced Component - Replaced Cosmetic" and now they are sending it back, which is a great turnaround time but no one can tell me what they actually replaced or repaired??? I have made 4 calls and not one person can tell me what was done to the phone. I used to work for Nextel (before Sprint scooped em up) and I was a lead technician for them and whenever we repaired a phone or replaced a phone we always wrote down EXACTLY what was done and what parts were used to complete the task. I am going through some of the same issues with one of my Verizon units as well and keep getting garbage ass refurbs that solve one problem but add another... I am not trying to nitpick but I paid FULL price for ALL of my phones so that I could keep unlimited and I am going crazy cause I don't want another defective phone from Samsung... What do you guys think was done or what do they usually do (refurbish them)?? I am just hating Samsung right now so I had to vent and get some comments and opinions.... This is my first experience with sending ANY product in for warranty work as I usually have a local authorized facility close to me or Verizon has just kept on sending me there good ol "Certified Like-new refurbs" that they claim to go through a 100 point inspection check.... LMAO! Ya okay.... Then why is it that I have already received 2 bad refurbs from them if they are so "Certified"... It's too bad cause I just want a working S3 in my hands. :crying::fingers-crossed:
I honestly have no problems with my phone. I've heard some people complain about issues. But three phones with two replacements all having issues. I have to wonder if you are even for real.
That been said. It beats the hell out of me what Samsung would do. How you get it resolved. Personally I love my sgs3. And most IPhone owners who try it are wowed by it. Especially now with iOS6.

Well why would I sit here and write up a story cause I feel like trolling about phones on xda.... I have been a member since 2008 and have had about 100 phones since then... So no, I am not making these issues up. In fact there are several threads about refurbs from Verizon and some people are on their 4th or 5th refurb.... I do have one of my 3 that works FLAWLESSLY but I have had bad luck on the other two.... I love the S3 and would NEVER go back to IOS but I am just tired of getting defective replacements.... I am just looking to see what others have been through with Samsung repairing their phones.... I see your an old timer too! Damn 2006.... I don't ever think I have seen someone who has been a member since 2006 but with only 10 posts... I have to wonder if you are for real?? lol

iPhone comment wasn't need it, and since you bring it up apple has the best customer service, iOS is not my cup of tea anymore but apple customer service with my experience is the best, they had replaced my iPod right at the apple store no questions asked

Dude that sucks you got defective devices and it sucks the technicians can't tell you what was changed in my experience with Sony they have noted out sometimes what was wrong but not all the time, HP let's you know what was changed which is great (they have a website) i haven't deal with Samsung before but if their like HTC they will probably sent you reburshed unit, that been said I have never had problems with those units work like new to me, and never had any physical damage, good luck to you and hopefully just like Samsung is getting better at releasing phones they can fix their tech department as well

Ya I guess I am just a lil paranoid cause of my bad luck lately but I will just cross my fingers that I have a good working phone.... The power buttons are terrible on these phones it seems... They are firm once you get them then they slowly start to get REALLY loose and one of mine got to the point where it actually popped out... It is about the size of a grain of rice and I have yet to find it... LOL For the most part I don't regret any of my purchases I just think someone has to get the lemons and it might as well be me right....
They give a more detailed note on what they replaced in the receipt you get when the phone is returned to you, granted it's not much detail, but yeah.
And if it returns and it's still messed up, go to Verizon and T-Mobile and demand to see the manager, tell them the situation and asked them what they could do.

Sounds like a good idea! Some of the problems were intermittent so I find it hard for them to just see it for 30 minutes and ship it back out unless they just replaced everything except the main board...? I will just wait and see... Glad someone could chime in who has had experience with Samsung repairs cause that's what I was looking for was to see if Samsung did a good job for others... Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, actually got my Galaxy S II and Nexus S serviced not too long ago.
The NS took about 3 weeks to get back to me, from the time I sent it in the to the time I got it back.
Everything was in great working condition, and I believe they replaced a lot of the phone.
The original problem was my lock button didn't work anymore.
I only realized they replaced more than just the lock button because my screen looked brand new as well as the outer part, there were no scratches or dents, when I had a few on it before.
My Galaxy S II took about 5-7 days to get back to me from the time I sent it in to the time I got it back.
I did request for the repair to be expedited as it was a gift for my girlfriend and needed it before a certain day.
They did a great job at helping me and getting my request through.
But I'll give you this, they are horrible at knowing what's going on with the phone, their status updates are pretty lame.

Don't try going to a T-Mobile store to get a phone replaced if it is passed 30 days in California or 14 in other states. I've been a T-Mo rep for many years and I could think of maybe 2 situations in 5 years where I have seen someone get a new phone replaced after 30 days in store (This is from experience working 4 districts in SoCal/LA area and 1 in Norcal).
I wish you luck with the Samsung repairs though. Hopefully they actually did more than little cosmetic repairs to your phone and actually fixed it.
maybe they saw the bezel hitting the button causing the home button to not function properly. That sucks that you had to send them directly to samsung, i love my tmo plan with insurance! Any problems, and the next day i have a new phone. And before people start crying that they are refurbished, i really could care less, as long as it works like it should im happy.
I don't know where else to turn. I've been dealing with this issue since February. Forgive me if this is long.
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ bought and paid for.
Last year, I had to change my email associated with my Google and Samsung accounts as I was hacked.
In February, my phone went for a swim in the washer and I had to replace it with Assurian. They sent me a factory refurbished one. About that time, I have not been able to use the Samsung Members app. I receive the error "Server Error (0) Try Again Later." and if I click on the Community button I get a similar error and the app crashes.
Since then, I have replaced my SIM card twice with no results, including upgrading my SIM to a 5G card. Factory reset the phone multiple times also. Spoke with Level 3 tech support at Verizon and still nothing.
I have gone back and forth with chat in the Members app. All along thinking I was sending Error Reports only to find out that someone finally informed me that my reports were blank.
I then discovered that all this time the replacement phone that Assurian had sent me was an AT&T phone that I was using on a Verizon network. Not leaving anything to chance, Verizon swapped it out. It still didn't work.
Samsung finally agreed to open a trouble ticket in their accounts department. Told me to clear cache and date for the app and uninstall it. Wait 48 hours and re-install it and everything should be fine. 48 hours later - nope. Still not working. I call back to Verizon. They call Samsung Accounts. I get transferred to Samsung Customer Service. I get transferred to Samsung Accounts. They tell me that there is nothing wrong with my account that it's a tech issue and transfer me. Samsung Tech Support tells me that there is no way it's a tech issue that it's an account issue. If Accounts won't fix it that the only way to fix the issue is to create a new account.
So that's what I did. I created a new one. Logged into my phone. Everything worked great. No server errors. App worked. Except now I have 2 problems Tech didn't tell me:
1. all my paid for apps and themes are gone.
2. my Samsung Pay is gone and I had a SoFi account that I can't resync even by going back to my old account (I know I can call Samsung Pay tomorrow and fix this - or I hope I can)
I got on chat with Customer Service (I think) and was told that I can't bring my data from the old broken account to the new working account. I was also told that my issue is a phone issue and I need to take my phone into a service center 20 miles away. He obviously didn't pay attention to anything I told him and this is after 40 min of remoting into my phone. He didn't even know what a pop up for 2FA was on my phone he saw. So the Samsung rep from chat said I have 3 choices 1) drive over 20 miles to a Samsung service center (a U Break We Fix store) - and they aren't going to do anything 2) use the new account and lose everything or 3) live with it - of which none are an option.
So, I'm hoping one of you hear can help me with this. I have been Samsung brand loyal since the S3. I have to say this experience has left a real bad taste for me.
Thank you in advance for any and all help.
If you're trying to retrieve data and paid for apps from the hacked account... that's gone baby gone, more than likely.
I be more concerned with keeping the new phone and accounts secure. Focus on the present, learn from past mistakes and don't repeat them.
You got the current phone operational, be happy with that. Be careful what you install...

Sorry for not making myself clear on that. I was part of the Google mess of 2020 when Google itself got hacked. I didn't get hacked because I installed something. I decided to log into my Google account and look at my registered devices. I have been a Verizon customer for 16 years. Sitting in my list of devices was a phone I didn't recognize. When I looked up the IMEI number, it was an AT&T phone. I immediately booted that phone out of my account. It was too late. 2 weeks later Microsoft emailed me stating 60 of my usernames and passwords were on the open net. That same day Quest Diagnostics sent me an email with a link to change my password, a request I didn't make. That Google account was the account tied to my cell phone and the Microsoft email was my personal email that I used to sign up with my Samsung account. I had to kill both accounts because Google had a security breech and allowed some prick access to my data. So, I don't feel I should have to sacrifice the 50+ themes and apps I paid for because no one at Samsung can help me clean up the after effect of Google's wrecking ball.
I still have access to my old account. It still works all but the Members app and having to go back and fix my Pay account.
That's a lot of accounts. I subscribe to the KISS principle. As far Samsung icon packs I find enough free ones to get the look I want. Tried a few themes but the stock loaded high contrast one is still my favorite.
Part of the reason I do this is to avoid ever needing to pay Samsung and the complications it could incur.
Consider streamlining things for your sanity's sake.
Samsung tech support is some of the worst on the planet. If so inclined dig up the dates of purchases* and see if your bank will do a charge back for the whole bloodly lot. Contact your state attorney general's office as they may have more ideas.
The real question is how much is your time worth and how much satisfaction will this investment of time bring you? Pounding sand isn't fun.
Taking Samsung pay apps out of the loop would save you a lot of time and trouble. You should point that out to Samsung.
Of course getting the account back or a full refund would be a great exercise in assertive training. That in itself may justify the time spent. It's a talent well worth developing... and woe to those who make the mistake of underestimate you the next time or this time.
In that case... rain down fire.
*if all to the same vendor you may be able to get your bank to filter them like that.
A refund maybe the only satisfaction you get.

Ya know, sometimes that little extra effort is worth it. I called Samsung Accounts and spilled the whole story. I got EVERYTHING back. My themes, my apps AND my Samsung Pay with the working Samsung Members App all on my original email before I created the new account.
Who says I can't have my cake and eat it too?
