Hi, I updated to
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel version: 2.6.39.4+
Image version: Acer_A100_AV041.RV16RC02_WW_GEN1
Build: Acer_AV041_A100_1.037.00_WW_GEN1
via OTA, and found out I can't root my device anymore.
I tried Zeronull's script, and it seemed to be working, which is exactly what rot checker tell me.
However I can't update my su, whether using SuperSU or superuser.
It just says can't mount /system as r+w
And if I use RExplorer to fix it or copy su manually, it works almost fine, except that some of the apps don't get full permission. I can't uninstall the system apps, for example.
When I try to apply V6 supercharger, it even says I don't have busybox, and my device is not rooted.
I also tried to reverse back to 1.014, (it shows that at system info)but still can't get root.
Really appreciate any help!

Hello, trying to update my SU binary. 4.0.4 IMM76K, 3.0.3.2 binary.
I go into superuser, hit update binary, it says OK and says it updated to 3.1. After reboot, it says I no longer have root. I've tried clearing cache/data of superuser, and reflashing the su.zip I have but still nothing.
How to fix?
Anybody?? Tried using the toolkit as well but nothing
Well for anybody else this happens to it appears it may have been an issue with the deodexed pre-rooted IMM76K I used from the Development section.
Reflashed to complete stock IMM76K with the toolkit, re-rooted then updated and it seems fine now. What a PITA
For those having problem of updating Super SU binary after flashing rom [ROM][ARC/S][.587]JELLY SANDWICH 6.0 STABLE[22-09][Aroma][Uploaded] or any other rom that have the same problem.I found a way to fix it..
1. first try update binary using Super SU for few times, if still installation failed try to download old superuser through play store.
2. Disable superuser for Super SU in settings>Superuser
3. In old superuser, go to info and then tap the "tap to check updates" and update the binary.
4. Then, enable superuser in Super SU and voilaa!!... try it..

Hello, My HTC Desire has
MIUI Android v. 4.1.1
Kernel v. 2.6.38.8
Build nr.2.8.17 MIUI
I am trying the above unsuccesfuly
SuperSU 0.96 will say Installation failed when trying to update (tried several times)
I then disabled as advised and I get a message that uninstallation failed (even if the button is then in the off position)
I install the old superuser, I tap to check updates and I get the following errors:
1. The checked version is 3.0 rather than 3.1.1 (which I think it's not an error since I am using an older version)
2. Everything is OK until is trying to Copying su to system... fail!
Any ideea why?
Thank you!
P.S. Nevermind, I found SU update FIX on googleplay and it did the job.

Thanks a ton for this fix! I was about to throw my phone out of the window but you saved its life.
In step 2. I think it's easier to say: Open SuperSU and deny root access on the Superuser prompt.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing (destructive).
I just say this because I couldn't find an option to add a denied application in Superuser. Maybe I didn't search too hard...
This works with Xperia-ICS v2i ROM port (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855768).

Issue Resolved :"Supersu binary failed"
Amigos,
Who is having issue of SuperSU Binary update than they should download the attachment which is an update for SuperSU & install or flash it through "Recovery mode" & reboot. It takes while to get up your device but it works for me.
Cheers.
This is what worked for me:
1. Install Superuser by ChainsDD.
2. Install SuperSU.
3. When the Superuser prompt comes up, click allow.
4. Update the binaries.
Thanks

Worked for me!
tried everything, doesnt work.
I have rooted my Gnex 4.2.2 after receiving the OTA from VZ. I have CWM 5.5.2.3 and SuperUser Elite 3.1.3 installed. Running SU it doesn't complain about anything. As far as I can tell it thinks things are fine. But trying to run Root Explorer or Titanium backup both complain about not being able to get root access. And opening a terminal and attempting cd /root fails due to permissions. I went into CMW and found it didn't think it was installed so I tried it again and it fails while flashing.
Booting into recovery it shows CMW image 6.0.2.3 which matches the image I pushed via fastboot flash recovery. I tried the "fix permissions" option but it didn't make any difference.
It seems like it isn't really rooted even though I went through the steps. I've done this before successfully on previous Android versions.
Maybe the old su.zip I am using no longer works?
I uninstalled/reinstalled Root Explorer, Titanium Backup, and CMW apps. I could not find a way to uninstall the SU app -- very weird... Hmm.....
Use a new su app and make sure the updated binaries are installed.
Further research showed attempting an update of SU indicated it isn't rooted. Noticed, also, that uninstall of SU isn't an option. Hmmm...

Update CWM to 6.0.2.3 (http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager)
Flash SuperSU to 1.25 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053)
I rooted by phone using the GNex toolkit on 4.2.2. I did everything right, SU had permissions, etc.
I downloaded Purity ROM, leanKernel, and GApps. I installed everything as normal, wiping cache and dalvik after the Kernel. I hit reboot and it came up "Your phone does not have root access, would you like to you? (gave some directory next to yes)" something along those lines.
Not sure what to do, I hit no hoping it would bring me back into recovery but it rebooted my device. The ROM works and everything, but I have no root access, and as far as I'm concerned, there's no root for Verizon 4.3.
I did create a backup of my stock ROM and the ROM right now works perfect.. but how do I regain root access?! I can't even boot into recovery out of ROM Manager.
Help would be much appreciated!
cont...
Further more, I rebooted to recovery, hit reboot, yes root, and it rebooted. Root checker says I don't have root access.
Open up SuperSU, "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?" >Continue "How would you like to install SU binary?" >Normal "Installing, please wait" "Installation failed! Please reboot and try again!"
ERGG! Rebooted and got the same thing.
cont...
Android Root User says "You are ROOT."
I deleted SuperSU and installed Superuser. Go to Binary Updater...
-Downloading manifest... okay!
-Parsing manifest... okay!
-Latest version = 3.1.1
-Checking installed version = legacy
-Fixing database... okay!
-Unpacking sutools... okay!
-Checking current install path... /system/xbin/su
-Downloading new binary... okay!
-Gaining root access... fail!
BUMP!
Will flashing my backup give me root privilege again?
Even if, are there any other solutions?
Try installing SuperSU zip via recovery:

See what happens.
Sent from Google Nexus 4 @ CM10.2
Thanks!

WARNING: THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP
This is a modified kernel for Android 5.0 that allows root to work.
This kernel alone will not grant root access.
Flash this in custom recovery to obtain root: http://download.chainfire.eu/591/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.17.zip
The kernel boot.img can be flashed using fastboot.
Credit goes to Chainfire. After seeing this post: https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/VxjfYJnZAXP ,
I took it upon myself to decompile, edit, then recompile the stock manta LPX13D kernel since he had only done so for the Nexus5/7.
Link: https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/ZzXaU1W7Uzm
Keep in mind this kernel allows root to work, but most apps that require root will need to be updated in order to fully work on Android 5.0.
Chainfire explains this in greater detail in the first G+ post i linked.
Damn, titanium backup is a no go.

So far I've only restored a previous backup of flappybird from tibu on 5.0, I'm restoring a twrp backup of kitkat now so i can run a new backup in tibu, then restore lollipop, then test all the things!
It force closes when trying to sync with my Google cloud backup.
So far I've found that the experimental version of TiBu fails to uninstall system apps claiming "Cannot remove system app, failed to locate the apk file."
But... It does restore backups (app + data)

Aw man. That's all I really want right now. I'm about to give rooting this a shot now. Hopefully to try out some ad removing stuff like adaway! Thanks for the updates on TiBu!
I can't seem to get this to work. I flashed the boot.img via fastboot using "fastboot erase boot" followed by "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and then I reboot into recovery to flash the superuser zip in this thread..and I still get the same error with SuperSU about missing stuff and all root apps I've tried say I'm not rooted. I'm using the latest TWRP. Anything I'm missing?
Off topic: if you only need root to restore TiBu backup - create update zip from your backup, then flash the update zip in recovery. No root needed.
On topic: since you followed Chainfires' method, this won't set the whole system to permissive, right?
edit: I believe not, if TiBu is not working with this boot image. TiBu has not adopted to the new 5.0 SELinux environment yet.
Thanks for this kernel. İs there anybody tried this kernel ? I havent got much experience about android.
Thanks, this gave me root. Just need to wait for the various apps to be updated in due course. First one I tried, rashr, gained root access but said device not supported.
as an aside, anyone looking to block ads with or without root you can always flash this from recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916098
Keep up to date with the latest versions of TiBu. Check out their Twitter feed.

The first test version I linked was older. I haven't had a chance to test this one yet.
Flashed the modified boot image & flashed SuperSu 2.17
SuperSU app won't let me update the binaries - so no root. SuperSU 2.16 doesn't work for me either.
Where to look? Can't find flashable SU binaries either.
Thanks!

If you flashed the boot.img and the SuperSU zip, root access should work.
The SuperSU zip includes the SuperSu app and the su binaries. It won't let you update the binaries because 2.16 is the latest stable release.
To test root:
Download and open Terminal Emulator > type "su" > you should get a SuperSU promt > grant access to Terminal Emulator.
The $ should now be a # , this confirms you are using the shell as root user.
Latest tibu test version working ok here for backup and restore :good:

What build of Lollipop are you running?
I flashed the images from this post :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56505625&postcount=99
Edit: that build is android-5.0.0_r2 (LRX21M)
