Well since wifi tether does not work with this build. I was just curious if the one built into cyanogenmod is free just like the wifi tether app in the market?

OK, first of all....what ROM are you using right now? CM7 or a different one because it sounds like you're talking like we're right there with you dude! The WiFi tethering in CM7 works flawlessly and YES is build in so is FREE! The only thing is that you can't use the one in the market prior to trying to use the build in one because it will break the build in one and that will open up a can of worms!
For future questions or anything, try to explain things a bit in detail and include what rom you're currently on....if you're talking about a kernel include that as well! Don't always assume that we're mind readers or anything.......Oh and NO I'm not catching an attitude, I just like to use exclamation points...lol
For those coming from the OG Epic can we get a dev to incorporate the modded Sprint hotspot. I prefer that over wireless tether for root users.
See here for questions

It would be great if someone could update this program to run on the new epic4gtouch
We will get that soon hopefully, most dens are focusing on getting stable root and can at the moment though

Hello,
Does anyone have any guides on how to root a Samsung Epic 4G Touch?
My wife and have ordered this phone and it is set to arrive this Monday.
I am trying to get a head start on the rooting process, so that I can get remove the Sprint bloat apps (Sprint Navigation, Sprint NASCAR, etc.) and also install the Mobile Hotspot hack. Currently, I have a rooted HTC Hero (Android OS 2.1) with the Wireless Tether app. The rooted HTC Hero has been a great phone. Due to its older Android OS and hardware, it cannot seem to handle the demand of current apps and the Wirless Tether app is pain slow. My previous Android phone was the Samsung Moment, which I thoroughly despised. I experienced nothing but problems with it. In face, I swore that I would never get another Samsung phone again. But alas, the features/specs of the Samsung Epic 4G Touch impressed my wife and I. I was eligible for a phone upgrade and we decide to take the plunge.
I would like to be as prepared as possible before the phone arrives.
As previously mentioned, I'd like to root the phone, remove Sprint bloat apps, and install the mobile hotspot app.
I also heard there is a wi-fi issue after rooting the phone. Is there any way to resolve this? I will be using wi-fi very often.
I do not have any previous flashing ROMs, other that the stock 2.1 ROM that was provided on the HTC site. I was able to root this 2.1 ROM with the Z4root app.
Thank you in advance for all your help.
Sfhubs auto root in dev sticky. Easy as pie. For a stock look rom with hotspot, try calkulins rom.

qbking77 may be a great asset to you if you're also more of a visual learner. Here's his latest vid on how to root the E4GT (sfhub's method) on EL29 which your phone should be on when it arrives.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I have read that the wireless tether app is problematic and the Sprint Mobile Hotspot hack is faster and more reliable. Which do you all recommend?
The Calkulin ROM looks great. The hacked Sprint Mobile Hotspot is already preloaded in the Calkulin ROM? Are the Sprint bloat apps already removed?
Since the phone will NOT be activated and straight out of the box, what would be the recommended steps to ensure the best rooting/flashing results.
I am trying to ensure the best possible result.
Thank you again in advance.

Since you have some time its quite simple go into development and read the OP of different roms and of course the stickies normally have the most reliable methods. This is what I normally do. Honestly its best to read for yourself which can always make trouble shooting in the future easier. Also don't Use Rom manager. Good luck and happy reading....
Just remember development has all your answers
Thank you for your help.
I am currently running Calkulins ROM via Mobile ODIN.

New to the SGS3 coming off the SGS2
Anyone have a ROM suggestion for me. My main reason for going to a custom ROM is to get tethering ability. I want a stock look but want to add tethering.
Thanks in advance for you help/suggestions.
Tethering is done using Fox-Fi in the Google Play store.

I am thinking of getting a regular Note 4 or the developer edition and wondering if the paid Foxfi wifi tether works on either phone where both versions are unrooted?

On a rooted device you'll have plenty of options for tethering. On a standard Verizon Note 4, I can say that yes FoxFi does work. I've used it myself.

Just to add to this, you can use an Xposed module, like Moto Tether, to get WiFi tether toggle natively (although the option for native WiFi tether toggle in Wanam Xposed does not work). Please also check out the mods by @EMSpilot here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note...ve-cd-t2924708 -- he has a mod for native Wifi tether toggle, among other goodies. He also has a deodexed ROM with that feature, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note...-free-t2949569.
