Okay so I have an HTC Evo 4G that I want to flash to MetroPCS. A friend of mine told me I could just take it Metro and they would flash it themselves and give me an MEID which is need for my phone to work on Metro's service. I went to one of the local Metro stores in my town and the guy told me that Metro has stopped flashing phones cause they have been getting fried for bricked in most cases now in days so he wouldn't do it. Lastly he told me if I would like to wait till December Metro will be getting their own stock of htc evo 4g's. Now I don't know if what he said was true or not but I would appreciate any help I can get to flashing my phone to Metro. Please help me!!!!

As with all smiliar topics, I saw a good deal on an EVO on craigslist. 250 for one flashed to cricket. Is it possible to flash it back to sprint?
Run the 3.30 RUU from your computer while phone is USB cabled?
Just a heads up, you will want to check the ESN to make sure its not lost or stolen. Sprint wont let you activate a bad ESN, that's probably why it was flashed to Cricket in the first place.
Hey... This thing makes phone calls too!
Chances are a used Evo already flashed to Cricket has a bad ESN and can't be used with Sprint any more
Hey! I purchased an htc evo from a friend of mine who fail to pay his phone bill, so the phone have a bad esn. Can someone guide me thru flashing it to boost mobile please. i have seen guides but from what i read it a royal pain the ass and don't work 99% of the time
I bet its a stolen phone
HERE'S a tutorial on flashing to metro. It will be a good start but you will need to change the addy from metro to boost. A little google searching should help you out but like I said, start here.
I know two people, that got there evo stolen too bad they can sorta still activate it on ghetto metro.
Any talk of boost/metro flashing should be banned >=]
The information in my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008909 may be helpful.
I completely agree with both nsxla and weehooherod... stolen phones shouldn't be able to be able to be activated. At the same time the way providers tie you into using their devices is as ridiculous as Apple's software copyrights not allowing you to use software you purchase on non-approved hardware (that's another topic). I have an acquaintances that is a area sales manager for a big cell company and his only argument for carriers not accepting outside phones is that they are not optimized for the individual provider's network and hence can bog it down. Yeah... mmmm hhhmm
Flashing to Metro is perfectly fine, because you don't need to illegally modify your phone, hell metro openly flashes evo's to their service.
However, putting an evo on Boost is outside of the legal guidelines since it requires a donor phone to clone onto the evo.
As far as MetroPCS and other pre-paid services bashing them is just plain ignorant. In some states you'll get better coverage with Metro than you would AT&T or some other contract providers and the prices are good.
To the OP: Metro has better coverage than Boost in my area so it might be worth checking out where you live.
Hello Gentlemen and Ladies.
I was recently given a rooted Sprint HTC EVO 4G.
I bowed down and kissed the ground in thanks.
We, my benefactor, and I went post haste to the Sprint Store to get my number transferred over on to my miraclulous new device.
This went fine. We got the number swapped to the new phone, BUT
driving home we realized that it actually did not work.
So we called sprint tech support and after a long difficult conversation we realized they could not assist us.
Im asking you Kings and Queens of the Evo 4G.....is there a way I can get a rom that will allow Sprint tech support to assist me in getting my phone set up properly?
and WHICH of the 9jillion roms should i flash to?
Thank you in advance from a sparkly new noob who is worthy of nothing but contempt.
For ease of use for them activating it, just flash a stock rom, preferrably the latest one. Then once it's fully activated, you can flash another rom you like. Technically you should be able to activate it with any sense rom, but again, to make it easy for you and sprint just flash a stock one.
I agree, I would flash a stock rom that does not unroot your phone:

I have searched everywhere, and there is not one place that shows how to switch back to sprint from straight talk. I bought this phone on ebay and the guy said it would activate on sprint no problem and i got it as a present for my dad. I need help returning it to sprint, there are many threads about how to do it from cricket or metro pcs, but nobody ever states from straight talk.
Can somebody help me please!!!

Have you tried either of those methods to see if they work?

I've been on page plus for a couple years(flashed multiple phones no probs) and believe it or not the service is pretty terrible in my area and especially at my house. USCC is actually the best around here. I've had USCC service before but their contract service just got too friggin expensive. They do have prepaid service as well but have to flash phones since they only offer total crap... I'm going for it anyways but I've never flashed(or heard of)any devices to USCC prepaid.
I bought a uscc r530 to try to flash. My question is, have you guys flashed anything to uscc before? I've flashed phones to boost, metro, and PP before so I'll figure it out but I'm curious. THANKS!
