Try Franco's kernel
Volume in particular in call volume is a right joke in comparison to my wife's HTC one x, I know it's not fair to compare a day old phone with a 7 month plus phone but fact is volume is redicoulos. As mentioned above try Franco kernel as it comes with some volume tweeks, accessible after you purchase his app on market which is very cheap, considering the resultant contribution by the way am in chap. Good luck.
I use volume+ from market. The free version let you increase a little bit, while paid increase it a lot. It's worth a try...

Unfortunately for me on cm9, nightly the app doesn't appear to work the paid version. I think it worked on stock 4.0.4 though.
Install equalizer, its better than volume+. smarter apps is the dev.
Max out all frequency and you can double the volume. Don't blow your speaker.
CNA works too...the rom (codename android)...also fixes the screen purple thing

this is the third time ive seen this "7 months old thing"
WHERE ARE YOU GETTING 7!?!?!
It was released in december...15th...january, february, march, somewhat april...i counted 4..like 3 1/2
Well, it was released in November in Europe. So more like 5 months.
I have franco's app with the volume thingy set to 3 and then in stock "play music" go to the equalizer and pump everything up to about 90% (100% is a bit distorted). That's all i did and now it's quite loud actually.
Pretty simple actually.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Lean Kernel with Lean kernel tweaks, it has an option to increase the volume.
Speakers seem to me like a marketing attraction.... like on the one x.. I mean come on, its loud enough.. and who ever listens music with his phone speakers.........
But a better speaker would have been nice

Umm yeah, that's why in my post I said the developer is by SMARTER APPS, so you know which one I'm talking about.
Oh, didn't notice my bad.
I really like 95% of this phone but I can't get one with no major issues. These are the things that are making me considering switching to an S3
- battery life still isn't great on the latest update. S3 should be much better
- inconsistent wifi - I don't have the hardware problem on this one (previous ones have) but staying in the same spot, I still a signal which fluctuates alot, where other devices recieve a consistent strong signal
- Chrome browser - really like this most of the time but I frequently just get a blank white screen and no amount of reloading works - it affects any website and all open tabs.
- overheating..especially when on charge (playing games) it flashes red/green or even just browsing (on low brightness) it gets very warm to touch (high 40's degrees C shown on Batter Monitor Widget)
I'm on stock BTW and am not a root-er so I'm not considering other ROMs. Had an S2 previously, liked it but not too keen the gingerbread look which the S3 seems to have stuck with on their ICS touchwizz) Any advice appreciated.
The S3s wifi is awful I have both. The S3 also gets very warm when playing games and charging. The issue with chrome is the app not the phone. Mine does it on the s3. The battery life would be better of you had more than one battery. As far as a single charge goes they are about the same.

Chrome is like this because it's beta man. It's not because of the phone. I have this problem too.

Fair enough on the Chrome thing. I thought the s3 battery is meant to be a fair bit longer lasting (it's more powerful for starters). Guess these phones will run hot, just didn't expect it to stop charging as it's overheating when just browsing etc.
Which of the two handsets do you prefer?

Flash siyah kernel, it.has.excellent battery life.and.extended wifi.range and you can undervolt or.overclock with.the.built.in.app. on average i.get just over 4 hours screen on time, some report even.five hours, i guess it depends how much you.under volt. I prefer the one x myself & I know you can mod it but I was basing this as if it was stock no mods. & the s3 lasts a bit longer but not a major difference. I was plugging them in the same time.

Have both s3 and hox. I use the hox over s3. The pros far outweigh the cons. Especially if you dont intend to root and use custom roms. Stock cheezwiz on sgs3 is just pathetic. Sense is miles ahead and with the latest update it rocks. Stay with the hox.

I have the htx one x my colleague has the s3 we don't notice any significant difference in the battery life. The HTC does not last playing sonic for the tigra. Also if wifi is intermittent the battery drains fast.
I get a day easily under normal use though.

I think the One X is better with the new base(2.17), and with Jelly Bean it's gonna be awesome, so don't get an S3!
I'm on my 3rd hox now, WiFi is really bad have to be in the same room as router, not acceptable if you ask me.

Because he has an HOX so of course he's entitled to be here. And enough with defending HTC and bashing the disgruntled customers. They're entitled to voice their dissatisfaction. Just because you dont have to change many times to get a defect free handset doesnt mean you can rely on that to claim that HTC has done a good job w the manufacturing process. You're HTC's customers, not their employees. NO need to get worked up when somebody complains about a real issue.

Make sure it's not a WiFi antenna disconnection, make sure that your router is not on a channel where there's loads of interference, make sure that your phone is on 2.17.

1. S3 isn't, AMOLED EATS battery compared to S-LCD2. Unless you get another battery, in which case you'll blow the One X away.
2. Make sure there isn't any interference on your router, and make sure that the fluctuations are not affecting actual use of WiFi.
3. Chrome does this for everything.
4. Overheating will happen if you charge while playing games. Don't do it on these phones unless you really want to destroy it early from overheating. If you're going to charge it, leave it alone and stick with light use. Undervolting can also help with these issues, but if you go too far you will cause the phone to randomly go into bootloops that require a power button hold down to fix, or having the phone fall into a sleep of death.
WiFi signal fluctuations may also just be the phone's signal indicator actually being more representative of true signal. The only way to really know is to look at something like WiFi Analyzer and compare the dBm.
It's the same problem I've had with all three phones, when I squeeze the top right of the phone the reception goes full, but the first few weeks of using the phone the WiFi is perfect.
I'm pretty gutted that I'm movin on because I really like this phone, I'm not the biggest fan of Samsung but its the only other equivalent at the moment, I've had the hox from day 1 and its been great while the WiFi works, that's the only reason I'm changing, other wise I'd be HTC all the way

I personally am a little let down with my S3. It may be fast but has some minor issues.. My power button gets stuck if I press it at the wrong angle in the lower area and the power button squeaks sometimes. Then some keyboard lag randomly isn't the best. The quadrant scores vary from time to time. But it does work well besides that and I feel is one of the best phones out there. Anyone having some similar issues? and What do you guys think about the s3?
And I'm sorry if there is a post for this already. I'm using the xda app and the search doesn't work well.
You may want to have sprint check out your phone and either fix it for you or replace. I've had zero issues with the power button. As nice as the phone is, you shouldn't have to deal with the button squeaking or sticking.
My home button has been solid since I got it. Has a nice click to it. As for keyboard lag and varying quadrant scores, those may be attributed to the same problem. When I was running stock I'd get the same problems too. Once I rooted and installed NoFrillsCPU Control I enabled "prevent changes from other apps" and haven't had any lag since. I think it still clocks down the CPU when it runs too hot though.
Wouldnt i be charged? and its my power button. not home.

Agreed. This is the first phone I haven't felt compelled to root. It's been great right out of the box.
By far, the best phone I've ever had. I've had it for over a month now and I still have trouble putting it down.
i have 2..my 1st(white1) works very well...my 2nd works very well however it has a power button issue..it is almost flush to the phone..it works and is responsive but sometimes i have to hit it twice and pull it back out..(the 2nd is blue)
I haven't been able to get the greatest battery life out of it. Seems to drain a few percent while idle. On my EVO LTE that things battery life was ridiculous good! I see some reloading too if I am in an app and then back out; more like a quick flash like a quarter of a second where everything disappears then reappears real fast. LI13 stock rooted is my best battery life so far - 58% right now 14 hrs - 1hr16min screen on. I get some 3G reload too at times where it'll say preparing network while loading a webpage or app etc. Looking forward to LTE cause 3G is pathetic and Jellybean, and Myn's Warm Rom!
Best phone I ever had. Solid and fast. I only miss my slide out keyboard from my Epic.
My best phone ever. No hardware issues at all, great battery life, good response, design, etc. Now just hoping we get JB in timely fashion and should make the device even better.
Personally, can't stand touchwiz, but love Samsung hardware and how much easier it is to root and put stock on. Unlike HTC, Sammy actually releases source. Haven't had any issues with this device, I do like it. I gotta say though, I did like new sense on the evo 4g LTE, but sold the phone due to such horrible multitasking and development being a step behind.
I would end up selling this one if cm10 wasn't out though. Just wouldn't be able to use touchwiz lol. Not to say that touchwiz sucks, I just do not like it, personal preference.

I've been thinking hard and long about this the past could of weeks since the Note 2 rumors/announcement. I believe I'll be getting the S3 as I don't need a screen as large as the Note 2 will have and from my comparisons of the original Note vs the S3, I feel that the S3 feels better in the hand. Well, that and I have my Nexus 7 with me everywhere.
I am really enjoying my phone. Best one yet on android. It was funny comparing my s3 to iPhone 5. Oh they try so hard yet cant come close to our coolness. Its like that one cousin or distant family member thats always showing off Lol. Only issue i found when upgrading to latest sprint built, my battery doesn't hold as much. Anyone else have an issue?

Yeah i can say im very satisfied overall, other then 1 minor issue which i can live with by rooting is that u cant transfer any of ure files to ext sd because of that darn ics sammy crap they pulled. Button works great no problems there with getting stuck or any squeaks. as ufor ure quadrant scores, scores arent always accurate plus score level doesnt mean a thing at all nor should it matter, it doesnt tell u anything nor its gonna prove anything....now why do u get random socres, its because ure GS3 is throttling back and forth. why is it doing that, all GS3 phones do that even the GS2 phone did that as well, is something that sammy did in order to prevent the phone from overheating because of the extra power its packing and to give u a better battery life without loosing much of the speed its giving u. now there are ways u can stop the throttling and have full power but i havent found it yet. the lag even if the phone where to throttle u should experience any lag, i havent atleast so yeah u might wanna take it in for inspection. i rooted only because of increase battery life and ofcourse to make my 64 gb ultra mobile class 10 microsd into an internal memory for my phone it worked like a charm. i believe the galaxy S3 is the best thing ever happen since the galaxy S came out.
TAKE THAT APPLE URE PHONE SUCKS. LOL
I am completely satisfied with the Gs3 and have had no problems after rooting it. Had a few minor complaints with the stock ROM but the phone itself was awesome.

I've reverted from the latest 4.2.2 jelly bean ROMs (primarily MMuzzy) back to 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich, because I was getting horrible battery life. Back on ICS I'm getting almost a day of battery life with 2-4 hours onscreen time, and because of that odd backwards switch I lost that ability with the camera. Even then, there was still some lag getting the camera app running, and then it took a while to focus on the subject you were trying to capture.
Good suggestion to anyone who didn't know about that, though.
Probably the fact that I can't seem to find a good GLASS screen protector for it that will fit with my otterbox commuter case and that won't start to peel up after a few months.
Besides that with the phone itself....the radios. I've owned low end android devices with specs much worse than this phone and I always had better reception.
Oh and the USB port. Just got a insurance replacement and it has USB issues off the bat. Dealing with it as long as I can because I'm hearing asurion no longer offers the 32gb nexus.

Someone got an asurion replacement and found out it was only 16gb and when he called they said that's what they had now....found it kinda odd because I just got a 32gb version from them maybe 4 days before the thread popped up. Two things:
1. Make sure that the screen lock sound isn't enabled. On flashing a new rom, sometimes I'll forget to disable it and since I can't hear it or maybe it doesn't sound, especially when playing music, it'll almost definitely cause the stutter. Otherwise...
2. Like maschiosoosai said, turning up the clock speed will stop the problem altogether. If your kernel supports it, the "screen off max" frequency is the one you'd want to change first. I've found that around 700MHz (clock speeds vary by kernel) the problem goes from every time to about 50% of the time, and around 900MHz it's gone entirely. It's worth a shot, but you really have to be aware of processes keeping your phone awake and eating up your precious battery life if you choose this as a solution.
Honestly, I've found that my personal favorite solution is to not use my device when I'm listening to music. It keeps my battery going longer, and with my battery as used up as it is, it needs all the help it can get
Is this problem specific to 4.4 or just Galaxy Nexus?
Unluckily it also happens to me in all roms
It is a "click" and I'm used to deal with it...
Right now I m using slim 5.9 with fancy kernel .. What I observed was when I use poweramp the audio does not skip but with Apollo it skips
