I didn't see this posted and I tested it, it works fine. Just go to the "older versions" and download the xhdpi version. Push to system/app with a root browser and set permissions to rw-r--r--, then reboot.
This is NOT my work it is Impact7 so be sure to thank him. Here's his thread:

You can try to convert it yourself by using this tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903598
it has worked for me
I cant get it to work. Says something bout update-binary script error message??

U should check out the inversion conversion team on droidforums.com .. They do some good stuff. I usually just copy (or replace) the modded apks in the system/app folder using root explorer, change permissions, and reboot. (back up first)

I know this should be in the development section but i am not allowed to post in it yet. My question is if i got the go launcher ex. Apk would i be able to just put it in my /system/apps folder and delete my current launcher and the phone would boot up with go launcher ex? Or would i actually have to write code for my phone to use it as the default launcher? (I'm not very good at writing code so I hope its not too complicated)

Yes you could, but you should push it in system/app with adb. But then you couldn't uninstall go launcher until you deleted it from system/app. Actually this should be in the question forum, not the development or general forums. If I helped you, thank me!

I do this all the time with adw ex, you dont even have to make the new launcher a system app.
Also, dont delete stock launcher. Rename it with root explorer to .bak file just incase you need it.
I recommend using Titanium Backup to backup and remove the stock launcher.

He's right, I don't know why you would make it a system app..... and this isn't really developing, as the title says

Oh well I've used go launcher ex before as an app and it makes my phone lag. I was thinking if i got rid of the system launcher, I'd be able to use go launcher without it lagging.

my friend.go launcher ex is a good app from china.if you want to make it to be a system app.you need to extract the lib first.
1.extract all lib files from the app's /lib/armeabi/
2.move them to /system/lib/ and set their permission
3.move the app to /system/app and set permission
now everything is ok!

Not working, is it for deodex roms only??
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
Right now, I'm using the Unicef 4.1.2 ROM with the stock mms.apk, which is a modified version of the standard 4.0.3/4 or 4.1 mms.apk. My question is, can I use a different ROM's mms.apk? I prefer the TW 4.0.4, but I've tried to install the apk in the system/app folder, but get a parsing error.
Any help?
Tw stuff usually has to stay with tw ROMs. Not entire certain if MMS.apk is reliant on TW framework... but from the sounds of it, yes it is.

But even a straight 4.2.1 or even the 4.2 from the Nexus 4 dump doesn't work.

No, just deleted the mms.apk in system/apps, and moved the new apk in its place, selected install, "error in parsing package".

Never delete... just change the extension to something random. I change the file to MMS.apkbak
You'll need to change permissions. With any root browser, long press on the file, and change permissions to look like this:
x x -
x - -
x - -
Xs are selected. If you reboot to recovery, fix perms again, then reboot, that's a for sure way of it working or not. There's probably a faster way, but this is the method I use.
