My friend owns a vzn galaxy nexus and used to be on CM9 nightlies. We would usually be on the same build but he had an extremely poor range with connecting to WiFi and Bluetooth. The best suggestion was to do a data wipe and put on a new rom. Jellybean has been put on and the pro lem still remains for him. My phone is on jellybean as well but does not have this issue..suggestions?

Wi-fi
I installed JB today and like many people found that wi-fi seemed weak on signal. Please check this link. I applied this and my wi-fi was back to its previous state if not better.

Already have that WiFi fix :/
P.S. I'm the friend w/ the messed up WiFi and Bluetooth. My phone was turned off, charging before..

??? kinda lost on that response
It happens to me. Unlocked and rooted running stock rom. Hopefully it'll be fixed in an update. Doesn't happen often but toggling airplane mode usually let's it reconnect or a reboot. But I believe its a known issue.

The signal bars being grey doesn't mean you don't have data.. it means you aren't syncing with Google services at the time...

That said I haven't experienced this, I am sorry just wanted to clarify that up.

It definitely drops data when they grey out. Any app that needs internet will display no connection.

No it doesn't.. greyed out bars mean you aren't connected to Google services but data doesn't drop. I have grey bars all the time.

You're mixing up the cause and the effect here. The bars are grey because you dropped data and are no longer synced to Google (or just do not have background sync on, etc.).
clearly its a problem that i hope they fix....the bars are grey and u dont see 3g or h... if you open the browser or any app that uses data it doesnt work..

As above you.. the bars greyed out because you lost data.. Grey bars with a 3 or H symbol mean you aren't connected to Google services.
hoping for a fix cuz not being able to talk on the phone and reply to an email without being on wifi is annoying
I am experiencing data drops as well on 4.0.3. I have had ZERO data drops on 4.0.2 though so it seems to be entirely based on the core framework from what I can tell.
I've tried the stock 3.0.8 kernel on 4.0.3 and still had drops. Tried custom 3.0.16 kernels on 4.0.3 - still drops.
Custom kernels or anything on 4.0.2 == no drops for me.
Side note: I had 5 days of success w/ the new bootloader (PRIMEKL01) on my phone w/ 4.0.3 and then all hell broke loose again so it could have just been a crazy case of pure luck for me w/ 4.0.3. I've been running 4.0.2 for well over a week now and have had no drops since.
Also worth noting - stock 4.0.2 is fine as is Paul's Ir9 4.0.2 ROM.
What version of ICS are you running?
My Phone details for reference:
Radio: XXKK6
Bootloader: PRIMEKL01
Version: 4.0.2
Kernel: 3.0.8-gaaa2611 [email protected] #1 (stock)
ROM: MoDaCo Ir9 (I used the standard one in Paul's thread here for Ir9)
Its part of known radio issues that Samsung is working to fix, hopefully in the next official update (at least for Verizon).

I would argue that it's not fully radio related simply because I'm using the same radio for both 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 yet I experience zero drops on 4.0.2 and extensive drops on 4.0.3.

Its definitely not radio related, i updated and still have drops. Im on AOKP m2 and francos latest (13?) and still have to toggle wifi on and off sometimes to renew data.

Yep. I have run into additional instances that can trigger data drop scenarios to occur. I am running Paul's Ir9 ROM WITHOUT the 4.0.3 compatibility layer and with his kernel, I get no drops. If I bake a ROM with the 4.0.3 compatibility (and no other changes), I get data drops. If I run a faux's 4.0.2 kernel (which is a 3.0.16 kernel version), I get data drops.
All of this is with the same radio so I'm convinced that it's completely unrelated. Seems like a software issue that is resetting the data connection.
i am facing an issue with wifi on my htc desire with AOKP based JB ROM (sites.google.com/site/androidromporting/changelogs).
It is basically frozen, when i go to wifi in settings, at times the screen stays blank and never loads. at times it gets stuck at "turining wifi on..." othertines it shows the wireless network and similar does not react when i choose to connect. stays inert.
i suspect that a voip calling service that i was using caused this issue when it froze during use. I subsequently froze that app using titanium and even uninstalled it altogether a little later.
i am not really finding any solutions on the net. some have suggested a factory reset which i am vary of doing as i am currently travelling..
i really am missing the use of wifi in my hotel room for using things like viber for calling back home.
any suggestions (short of factory reset) will be welcome.
try using swift wifi widget to connect to a network:

Don't know if it has been covered already, but a quick search didn't turn up anything.
I am on 4.04 stock and the problem is, i can connect to the wireless network just fine, and everything works for some time.
Quite soon, no webpages open anymore and everything just gets timed out. The connection, however, is there and signal is perfect.
I slide wifi off, then on, it reconnects and everything works again for a short period. Any idea what could be causing this and what a workaround could be?
Have you tried resetting your wireless router and modem? Sometimes that happens to me, no matter what device or rom I'm using. Shows it perfectly connected but nothing opens. I make a habit to reset my modem and router weekly now to avoid it.

I'll try it right away. My laptop however stays nicely connected and has zero wifi issues, but i'll give it a go and report back.
No help unfortunately. Wifi stays connected, however there is no internet connection after 5-10 minutes.
Is your battery level low, some battery saving feature is active ? Just guessing ?!

Try reinserting your sim card, helped me a couple of times
Well, that's the thing. No mods, no nothing extra running, battery full or almost empty makes no difference. Sometimes the connection dies in one minute, the phone's personal best is like 10 minutes probably
I will try and remove the simcard, however i am unsure how this could affect anything. I am willing to try anything at this point, this is realy frustrating.
I have the exact same problem. Currently I'm running Android Revolution 15.0, but it did the same with Renovate rom. I have hboot 1.31 atm.

I also have the 1.31 Hboot, wonder if that could be part of the problem...otherwise everything is stock.
I'l check out the topic, thank you!
Had this issue too. I switched to only use G band on my wifi box. N band was always making my hox s wifi "freeze"

count me in, ARHD hboot 1.31
problem showed up after rooting and flashing JB roms, anyway the problem existed on hboot 1.28
Hello good people of XDA. I am currently using the above rom by PipelinerArd.
The latest build (04-04-2013) is almost flawless. Everything is working great except for the Wifi.
While the device is connecting to the router, and while I'm standing less than a meter from it, it shows only one or two bars (in the Wifi meter).
Surrounding my house I have about 6-7 other wifi broadcasting network which normally the phone would "see" (e.g. with the Android Revolution HD ROM) with this rom it sees only my Wifi.
If I exit the room and move approx. 6-7 meters away from the router, with only one wall interfering, the phone disconnects from the router.
Anybody else has the same problem? Any suggestions?
wifi doesn't work at all here , same rom , i am unable to turn it off after i turned it on for the first time , even after rebooting !

Looking for some help, with WiFi Calling.
Tried three different locations
-Home Uverse - 18 Mbps
-Friends House - 24Mbps
-Work - Verizon 6Mbps
The call connects perfectly, and I can hear the caller but the caller can't hear me.
Any ideas?

Looks like T-Mobile is having issues with their WiFi Calling servers yet again. I had this same problem for months on the Note 3 until I complained and they opened a master trouble ticket and fixed it on their end.
I guess their servers are glitching up again.

Just made a few calls on WiFi calling and it all works. Sorry bro best I can do is say uninstall xposed and reboot and check.
AWESOME G3
Wifi range sucks on this phone probably phone thinks u far away and looses signal even though it shows strong bet if u close to router it will work but if u walk away it will lose signal and show connected.I dont know if a new modem or build will fix this.
Mine works fine
Not sure what the issue was, but ended up reverting back to stock.
I then re-rooted, and tested Wi-Fi Calling prior to, and after all major changes. End result....phone that is setup exactly the same, with the same apps etc...and Wifi Calling is still working.
They had a new update today thats supposed to fix some bugs with wifi calling
I've had the same issue. Most calls go through fine but probably 10% connect and there is no audio. I have to turn off WiFi and or reboot the phone to make calls correctly.

Had that happening on my Note 3. Reported it on their forums and they opened a master trouble ticket, had someone contact me to take down my info (router make, model, firmware version, phone firmware version, settings, etc.), and two days later it started working properly - apparently it was an issue on their end.
I suggest you post on their support forum with a detailed description of your problem and the steps you tried to remedy it so far.
Mine has this issue about 30% of the time. ..no rhyme or reason Must just be another "you get what you pay for" related issue. I'm actually going back to Verizon on the M8 sometime tomorrow
---------- Post added at 10:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 PM ----------
I've had Verizon for about 10 years up until about a week ago. It's been way too frustrating since switching. Sure, I'll save about $30/month with T-Mobile, but I'll have to put that $30 towards Ativan and Clonadine prescriptions if I stick with them.
My experience with T-mobile's unpredictable service quality has been a nightmare. Can't do it anymore.

Plus the M8 looks BAD ASS!!!
