I flashed the non functional cm7 rom I was the tester it messed up my phone it went straight to download mode the reason was no kernal so I flashed a kernal using odin then I booted to recovery and went off of my backup of osimood and for some reason everytime I boot the samsung logo shows a yellow warning sign under it I don't know why but the phone still boots and runs normally can anyone help me
sent from my captivate glide
its means that you flashed a custom rom. i believe its from the counter of flashing. but don't know for sure.
That's from one of the kernals if I recall. If u just want to try and flash back ur phone to stock and reroot it should go away..

I was thinking since osimood installs a kernal when you flash it. i might have installed a diffrent kernal is that the problem?

i have had that yellow warning on the boot logo since i installed my first custom rom... if im not mistaken thats totally normal and wont affect in any way the functionality of the rom... so the real question is how come you didnt had it before?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using XDA
I've flashed inception v1 and v2 and osimood and the cm7 and back to osimood the cm7 was the one that made my phone start doing it

I second that, it has been there since the the first Kernel flash. Its harmless and just indicates you have deviated from stock.

Sounds like your download is corrupt. Grab the kernel again and repeat.

Just switched phones from the evo 4g to e4gt, learning the ropes and trying to figure things out
One thing that im wondering is this:
I running calks v3 EL29 GB with rogue recovery, and every time i attempt to flash a different kernel (like agat newest built from source, it gets flashed no problem (in odin, mobile odin, and recovery) but its unable to boot as it just sits there after displaying the galaxy s II boot logo.
Thanks in advance for your help
Dumb question. Are you running TW ICS? And also there is an issue with that happening. Read the thread. I've held off flashing his new kernel for now.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Nope TW GB (Calks v3 EL29 GB Rom)
I could be wrong as I have been on aosp 4.0.4 for a while now, but I think agats newest kernel is ics based. The gb kernels that were being used were usually done by team rogue....what do u need from the kernel ur trying to flash?
Just fyi to all, if you flash a kernel in a good recovery program and it won't load ur phone, ur probly mismatching ur kernel with its intended rom.

i assumed i was mismatching but i wasnt sure, i tried a few where i didnt see whether it was ICS or GB or not.
Thanks

I first posted this in MrRobinson's excellent thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35165945&postcount=1610, but decided others might benefit from it that may not be following his instructions because they're already rooted...
For now, just see my instructions in the post mentioned above. Once I get off work this evening I will be updating this post with more detailed information. At least one other user has followed these instructions and reported that his flash counter remains at 0, even after multiple reboots and custom recovery actions.
The usual disclaimers about bricking your phone, blowing up your grandmother's house, drowning your dog, etc. apply. I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE!!!
Reserved - just in case...
I can confirm this method works as described. I also added instructions in the same thread on how you can still use this method if you happen to have already upgraded to JB via the traditional method (ie via ODIN or Kies) and have a count or custom status. It requires reverting to stock ICS and recovery and then moving forward with the above process, and the end result is Rooted JB with Custom Recovery and retaining official rom status with no counter increments.
whats the point.. if you put a custom recovery on it updates the counter anyway.. on every boot. unless you root and remove certain files.. and if you are rooted and remove those. you can use triangle away anway.
If you revert to ics, then flash jb without the accompanying bootloaders you don't have to worry the flash counter. Why is that important? In case you need to warranty it and can't get to triangle away to reset it. And some of us like to say its never been tripped
Btw, I'm running rooted stock with twrp and my counter is still 0. And i installed twrp after flashing jb.

That's the point. I flashed and KEPT my custom recovery, and it does not increase the counter no matter how often I use it. I haven't tried loading a different custom recovery now that I'm on JB, but so far all is well.
By the way, sorry I haven't followed up on the OP. Been very busy.

You're doing it wrong. Mine still displays 0 and official after installing multiple recoveries, countless zip flashes to include AOKP and TW ROMs and approx 4-5 Odin flashes. My wife's recently rooted and jb'd S3 also says the same thing.

no that is becuase one of the flashes you did removed those recovery files that comes with stock jb.. or replaced the kernel that reflashes them..
normal upgrade from ics to stock jb.. will reset counter on every boot unless you change the kernel or remove the recovery image.

It's fine on ICS... this is Jedi Invasion JB and the KT747 kernel. I wasn't sure if it was just the ROM and then noticed that others with different roms and stock roms had the same issues. I'm wondering if it wasn't an issue in the initial JB release (this is a ported T Mobile rom) that the dev built this rom off of. I'll flash another JB version and see if the problem persists.

I.E. I did it right. Doing it right the first time keeps you from having to fix it later.

So... it appears my previous issue was a bad sd card. It's kind of a big coincidence that the old card didn't work with the Jedi rom, and now the new card doesn't work with any rom. I just flashed AOKP and the correct KT747 kernel, and no love. I pulled the 32g sd card and fed it my wife's old 8g card, and it works perfectly. Is there a such thing as a rom cooking an sd card?
great find! followed the instructions with mobile odin and worked like a charm, I came from a jb aosp rom, but first I nandroid back to an ics-lg1 backup I did a few months back, no counter tripping after a few reboots into recovery
one question, is there any thread where I can find mods for this 4.1 TW stock jelly bean, like power menu, toogles, kill back button, tether etc if anyone has a link please share
many thanks!
When your sdcard went did it say damaged? That happened to me going from ics to jb mr robinsons official stock. So i put in a brand new card, then it tells me under about status is modified which it wasnt when the first sd card worked. Even odder my pc couldnt see the card, so i thought it truly was damaged. I put it back in just to try a day later and all of a sudden i can format it within the phone, which, I due and then it works again and the modified under status is back to normal. Im gonna go through the source of that package this week and see if I can find whats up and what could of tripped and then reverted that counter.

sent from the dark side of the universe....
I followed the method in this thread (using mobile odin to go from rooted ICS to rooted JB). It was pretty easy and it worked great. However, after the first restart, I started having a strange problem. Every 5 minutes, the phone will lose its network connection for approximately 30 seconds. This appears as red on the "Mobile network signal" under battery usage details, and I'm unable to make any calls. This drop happens like clockwork. You could set your watch by it.
I've tried everything (uninstalling certain programs, flashed different modems, factory reset, etc) and nothing worked. I reverted back to ICS and then redid the method from this thread, and the same thing happened (JB worked great until I restarted for the first time, etc..
Any ideas? For a while I thought it was some weird issue with the analog clock widget.... But getting rid of that didn't help. And I've tried every possible google search on this issue but I can't find anything. For now I'm back to ICS.
Yea that is weird maybe just try it over again fresh odin ics and go from there. Almost seems like something didn't take going thru the flash process

did you check the apns? right after I did the flash, it didnt have the "ATT PTA" apn so I had to manually add it

Hey guys,
I purchased this phone today, went home and immediately rooted the phone.
Everything went fine, until I tried flashing a custom recovery than the problem occurred,
I'm on a FL24 basebad with 4.0.4, and every time my phone boots 10 seconds later it restarts.
What's going on?
I rooted the phone with Odin, once rooted I installed mobile Odin and flashed a customer "Kernel / Recovery" now the phone constantly reboots.
Install the stock kernel.

Well the kernel I flashed was 0.4.0, I heard that one has reboot issues so I flashed 0.3.0 and it's working great.
The only thing I can't figure out now is how to flash CWM, keeps taking me to the download screen when booting into "recovery".

To boot to recovery
Vol up plus power and hold
Once the splash screen shows, release power and continue to hold Vol up.
You will get to recovery.

How come E4GT ROMS are so large in size, back when I had an EVO and Optimus roms were about 100MB, E4GT are about 500mb?
Well sounds like the recovery was either flashed wrong or is defective for whatever reason..
Here is how to root that version by qb77king. He is very good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqmKN2ewatk&feature=youtube_gdata_player.....
here is a video for the recovery http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb63ldWtnoM&feature=youtube_gdata_player
So I'd like to help but need to know more info to go by. Did you enable USB debugging when you flashed the recovery? Anyways go ahead and go to stockroms.net. there you can find a stock ROM to flash your phone with unless its virgin or boost.
I recommend just getting stock jellybean or wild for the night cyanogen.. I know you just bought it but I can tell you its worth it ICS is horrible,Too many problems. You can actually find a jellybean ROM that is already rooted when u flash it.. Anyways download the android root toolkit from the market... This will save your phone's root

Hey Trytohoaxme. So as of right now there is no cmw for ICS. There is Agat recovery which is based off of cwm that is for either a ICS ROM or jelly bean ROM. I have cmw that is a jingerbread kernal that interfaces with CyanogenMod 10.1 which has 4.2.2 jellybean. If you flash clockworkmod it won't work with a stock rom your phone won't be able to boost up..

Who's conceited?
I'm pretty sure he's just trying to help and avoid misinformation, no need to get offended, bud... And the op stated the issue was already resolved.
He never asked about cwm specifically, just a custom recovery. On TW ICS I've used Agat's, Ruj's, and Slesh's kernels/recoveries without issue. There's really no need for EL26/CWM tar unless you want to play it safe (which i do) going from TW to AOSP or vise versa.
And yes stock TW ROMs are huge. AOSP ROMs end up around 240 megs (give or take) including Gapps.

Well when people like you give incorrect information like you are currently doing, or makes everything more complicated than it should be, again, something you are doing, I will be rude. ICS has had source for a very very long time and has had a CWM for a long time. JB does not. I have been here for a long time and there is a reason I have recognized contributor. I may be rude, but when someone else risks someone's expensive phone, sometimes it takes being rude. If you can't handle it, oh well.
The reason for my response was because the issue was solved and the stockroms.net is not a site that I trust. We have a repository for all of our stock ROMs.

Oh okay, I was asking because the thread title of most ROMs say "[ROM] FL24 Kuban Kernal" ETC..
Since I'm on GB24, I can still use EL26 ROMs and all?

I received a replacement phone from AT&T and it had the latest firmware (I747UCDMG2) on it. I did not know this till after I rooted my phone. After rooting my phone, I installed TWRP and then went to install Task650's custom ROM. I got some errors there where it looked like it listed different baseband versions. I exited it out and tried booting up - I could no longer boot into my phone. No matter what I did the phone would say recovery booting but shut off immediately. After removing my battery and leaving it out for a few minutes, I was able to boot back into download mode. I ended up falling back to LK3 stock ROM. Finally my phone was back up. And now installing Task650
Now was I not supposed to use Task650's custom ROM on MG2? Or was it just a fluke thing?
Did you update the bootloader before flashing the ROM?
