Ensquared vs Squaretrade vs ZaggSafe - Galaxy S III Accessories

Anyone have any experience with any of these companies? Especially with ZaggSafe? -- I saw that they contract it out to Warrantech, which has a pretty bad rating on BBB. While they say the don't cover wear and tear, they don't have any list specifying what wear and tear is.. So I'm a bit iffy on if their word can be trusted or not.
Lifted this off ipadforums
SquareTrade VERSUS Ensquared on iPad 2
Lets get the equality factors out of the way first: Both are well known Internet providers of wireless protection programs; both are underwritten by reputable Underwriters: Ensquared (Fortegra) and SquareTrade (AmTrust); programs offered by SquareTrade and Ensquared are two year coverage with prepaid premiums.
SquareTrade cover iPad for: Accidental Damage and Extended Warranty only.
Ensquared have two programs: One that competes directly against SquareTrade by offering (a) Accidental Damage and Extended Warranty (b) Accidental Damage PLUS cover for Lost and Stolen
We are assuming that in making a decision Ensquared policy offering Lost & Stolen is not being considered for now (i.e. only the Accidental Damage and Extended Warranty). We also assume the device is less than 90 days old.
Premiums and Deductibles: For this program the SquareTrade Premium is $99 and there is a $0 Deductible; Ensquared Premium is slightly lower at $94.99 with a $50 deductible. However, this should be viewed in conjunction with the Claim Value (outlined below)
Claim Value: The following is where there is a significant difference:
SquareTrade (ST):
· ST differentiate two iPad 2 16GB products: (a) With Wifi only - providing a total claim limit of $499 for accidental damage (b) With Wifi + 3G through Verizon or AT&T - providing $629 total claim limit for accidental damage.
· Understand this about the significance of a TOTAL CLAIM LIMIT: It is the claim limit allowed by SquareTrade to account for all Accidental Damage claims.
· This means: Claim value allowable (i.e. $629 or $499) reduces by the value of the claim each time one is lodged. Once it goes to zero no more claims can be made. NOTE: It is possible that only 1 accidental damage claim will fit into this claim limit if serious damage or replacement is required.
· ST extended warranty normally only kicks in after factory warranty expires (in the second year). You can use it in the second year even if the accidental damage claim limit has been used up. In other words: Coverage for accidental damage may be gone before the second year or during the second year, but will not affect your ability to claim on extended warranty (factory defect issues) with ST.
Ensquared
· Ensquared claim offer is far simpler to understand: Ensquared offers policy holders 3 claims over the two year period (should be enough for even careless iPad owners)
· Each claim (three maximum) comes with a claim limit of $1000 (or a total claim value of $3000).
· The 3-claim limit does not differentiate between Accidental Damage and Extended Warranty.
· The claim limit if it transpires applies to Accidental Damage only is approximately 5 - 7 times higher than SquareTrade.
· There is however always a $50 deductible VERSUS SquareTrade zero deductible, per claim, and Ensquared do not leave Extended Warranty open-ended.
In summary: If Accidental damage is the chief coverage requirement or concern then ST falls far short of Ensquared where the claim limit on an "oranges to oranges" comparison is far higher. This more than overcomes the negative of paying a $50 deductible on possibly all three claims with Ensquared as the cover will likely endure on Ensquared until the end of the term. On this comparative alone ST does not offer enough claims or cover value (depending on which way you look at it). If Extended Warranty is the chief coverage requirement or concern then the advantage of SquareTrade is the open-ended Extended warranty that has nothing to do with the claim limit set. In our view, all things considered, 3 claims to a maximum value of $3000 is more than enough to cover Accidental damage and Extended Warranty issues over a two year period. The policyholder is not taking a big risk that he/she can run out of claim limit (which exists with SquareTrade). This is well worth the deductible if indeed claims are made. If you require Lost & Stolen as well then of course SquareTrade are not a consideration but Ensquared is.

If you are in the US, squaretrade will NOT cover anything not sold in the US. So if you have an international S3 in the US like I do, your only choice is ensquared. (Out of the two)

BS, if you buy an international version from a US store they cover it, like Expanses USA.

Ensquared is okay. I lost my Galaxy Nexus a few months ago and I got the replacement after talking to a few managers.
They didn't have any Galaxy Nexus at the time and wanted to give me some crap phones... I stayed persistent and would not take the crap they offered. After a week of playing phone tag they purchased a bnib Gsm Nexus and overnight it to me. (this was back when it still sold for $600)
The plans are cheap, just don't take crap from them and it will be okay. I recommend them. If you have trouble with customer service pm me and ill help.

Insurance for Nexus

Where to buy?
Considering I have an unlocked nexus using it in the USA, what place will insure it?
I am currently trying to decide between http://www.worthavegroup.com and http://www.ensquared.com
Worth Ave Group:
-Backed by Hanover insurance (a company I'm familiar with).
-Deductibles are $50.
-Instead of replacing the phone they just give you a check
-THEY DO NOT COVER LOSS
Ensquared:
-Deductible for the first claim is $75
-They replace your phone with the same modem if available
-They cover loss
I'm still deciding which one to go with. My concern is that perhaps ensquared may not replace my phone with another galaxy nexus in the event something happens. Also, I do like the idea of receiving a check for the value of the phone with Worth Ave Group, however I'm concerned they may try to account for depreciation and give me less than the replacement cost of the phone. Also, they don't cover loss. I'm leaning in the direction of ensquared mainly because they cover loss.
This is the one thing keeping me from buying a 'grey market' Nexus. While those dealers say they'll take care of you, in 6 months they might not be as willing. From my research online, Squaretrade wont cover grey market but they do cover eBay phone purchases. I pulled up an eBay listing of a new GN and added a Squaretrade warranty on top of it and they charge $99.
Still, that brings the phone purchase to $850. Too rich for my blood, but for others that may be worthwhile. I personally am going to hold off for a few weeks to a month to see if there is any news about an unlocked GSM version being sold in the US.
Well I spoke with ensquared and they stated that they'd cover my phone as long as I could show proof of ownership when/if I make a claim. They also said they'd order the same phone as long as it's still being sold. I went ahead and bought insurance with them, it cost me roughly $60.
They cover it even though it's not a phone officially sold in the USA?
Since Negri/Expansys/others will handle warranty claims for me, I'm not as worried about it as I am about water damage, dropping the phone, etc. And since SquareTrade won't cover phones that don't have a US manufacturer's warranty, are Worth Ave and Ensquared the only two that will? Haven't heard of either, any recommendations?

Let's do the math on accidental insurance

I've read the Worth Ave thread but I am going to pass on the college plus despite what the phone operator told me since it is clearly stated on their website that you must be a student or employee of colleges or universities.
So for Accidental smartphone coverage:
Worth Ave : $59/year with $50 deductible with no limits on number of incidents. Not sure if there is only one replacement allowed per year.
Cons: maximum of $599, no normal wear and tear or mechanical breakdown, ONLY accidental drops, spills and theft. No claims if you simply lost your phone.
Gocare insurance: $59/year with $50 deductible with no limits on number of incidents. One replacement device during the coverage term. Said it will cover jailbroken phone so I would assume rooted phone also. Coverage seems to be very comprehensive but no theft or loss coverage.
Square trade: one year is $69 two year is $99(cheaper at Amazon, $125 at square trade site) $99 deductible. One replacement per coverage term. Each accidental claim is deducted from full replacement value of phone. A little ambiguity since when I read the contract, it said PURCHASED PRICE not full replacement cost.
Squaretrade:
Given the $99 deductible and the fact that if you paid for 2 years for squaretrade, and the fact that each time you have a claim, the cost of the claim is deducted from the maximum value, I do not think that the squaretrade deal is a good deal. If you choose the $6.99/month, you still have to pay for all 24 months if you made any claim. Also suppose you need a replacement 3 months after your coverage starts, you are out $99 plus $99 and you will not have any more coverage on the replacement device since you exhausted the maximum value.
Gocare:
For $59/year with $50 deductible, I think this is a better plan. Each incident whether it requires replacement or repair is $50 not $99. Also if your phone is not repairable during the first year, you are out only $59+$50 instead of $198 if you had square trade. Also you can repair as often as you like. Crack screen twice, $100. With Squaretrade, two crack screens and you are out $198 plus you probably can't submit another claim ever on that policy if the actual screen replacement cost is half the phone cost.
Either way, it is cheaper and wiser to buy one year instead of two year. Buying one year at a time will allow one replacement each year for the worst case.
I want to hear your thoughts but looks like I am going to pull the trigger on gocare insurance.
I can confirm I claimed on square trade and was given the full retail amount to purchase a new phone

I went with Squaretrade because of their good reviews on Amazon, etc.
I have Sprint's insurance currently, but for 11 dollars a month, with a 150 deductible, I wanted to try something else.
The problem with what you said, buying 1 year at a time, is that I dont believe with Squaretrade you can do that. My understanding is that you have to buy it within the first 30 days of purchasing your phone.
So does Gocare cover loss or theft? It sounds like the best deal, but lost or stolen is important to me.

That is true, forgot about the 30 days.
GoCare doesn't care if your smartphone is new so you can just buy another one after the first year ends. Neither GoCare nor square trade covers theft or loss but I believe Sprint does.
Worth Ave group covers theft but probably requires a police report. It does not cover lost.
I took a chance and bought the $2000 coverage from Worth Ave group for a year since it is a blanket coverage of all your devices up to $2000. Since you don't even need to submit serial numbers(you can do that when you make a claim, provided you have the original box OR the receipt), I am basically covering every piece of electronics I own for up to $2000(smartphones, camera, laptop, camcorder) against accidental damage, spills, and thefts. Since I have 4 smartphones purchased for family plan, everyone of them is covered against crack screens, drops, and water submersions. For $66/year, I took a chance and hopefully if I have to make a claim, it will be a hassle free $25 deductibles.
I'm glad this thread is here, I was about to make a similar post. I'm also wondering which way to go as I currently have the Sprint coverage and would like something better and more affordable. I never heard of Gocare until now. I've used Squaretrade for my TF700 and it went well, bought a new one with the money...no deductible for tabs.
I'm thinking that will all the things that could go wrong with a phablet, if it would be better to go with Sprint for the ease. Will definitely look more into Gocare as I plan on picking up my phone this weekend.
I also was checking with Professor Google and found this: http://www.ensquared.com/GoCare-vs-Ensquared-vs-SquareTrade Ensquared is looking really good too. I'm going to put some more research into it but from their page here they look to have the best coverage: http://www.ensquared.com/catalog/phone-insurance/1-year-phone-insurance-smartphone
What about best buy? I heard we can just take the receipt and box into the store to get it added.
Ensquare looks pretty good since it covers loss also. Price is not bad for 1 or 2 years and you get up to 2 or 3 claims. I guess squaretrade is best known for service but if you need replacement within 2 years(assuming $99 2 years coverage), you will be out $198 and won't be able to make any more claims. With ensquare, you can lose your phone up to 3 times and they will charge you $75 for first time, $100 second and third time. How is ensquare's claim reputations?
Thanks to being spurred on by this thread, I have decided on insurance (which I NEVER get, but this phone is too expensive to risk) and weighed all the options. I just signed on with Ensquared. I almost went with GoCare, but read several things that said it was more a repair facility than an underwritten insurance provider. I ruled out Square Trade, Sprint and others for a variety of reasons. $59/yr with up to 2 claims ($1000 limit per claim), $75 ded on first and $100 if there's a second. Probably I will have none, but already feel more relaxed. They also cover loss or theft. Link if interested: http://www.ensquared.com/catalog/phone-insurance/1-year-phone-insurance-smartphone
Why not Sprint TEP?
Does it cost more? Yes. $11 a month.
Defective phone or wear and tear? Take it to the store. Swapped or repaired.
Lost, stolen or damaged? $150 deductible. I think there was something stating it's 3 swaps now.
Without it and with a 3rd party insurance. You have your 1 year warranty, but there is a $36 swap fee involved. Or good luck contacting Samsung. I tried and no one spoke English or had any idea of what I meant when I called in and explained my vibration issue. The motor or something is loose that it reproduces a horrid cracking sound. I have to keep it turned down at all times.

They DO cover lost...if you file a report. I.E. "I saw it here last but now it is gone", with the police. Not loss in your living room. It has to be reported.
I had extensive conversations with them. As long as you are not trying to scam them. I hope I don't have to use it either.
And to the guy that said why not Sprint. It's 11 a month and $200, not $150 to replace.

People are saying it's $200 for the Note 2 which IMO is getting outta hand.
Sprint insurance is getting so expensive it's out of the question for me. I can wait for a few days while my phone is getting repaired (did it twice with my Epic). The local sprint store (and I did not have TEP) was kind enough to give me a loaner for a week without any charge (best buy will do the same if you have their coverage).
I'm going to go with Best Buy. $169, no deductible. Sure it's more out of pocket, but I've heard of them, and after one claim I'm ahead of the game than with Squaretrade.

also consider that it covers physical damage , liquid damage , lost or stolen and also gives you an extended warranty .
so lets say 14 months from now your phone starts acting up. tmobile will do a warranty exchange with no deductible and if the note2 is out of stock you get a note 3

Exactly that's why I'm considering it as well.. Would be awesome to get a free Note3 but won't hold my breath there
Eventhough I'm very careful with my devices, anyone can have a bad day so I will likely sign up for it within 90 minutes unless people have had bad experiences with it..

To be honest, I would get all the coverages in writing. Are you certain this covers theft, loss, and accidental damage? Also, this coverage is a bit more expensive than places like ensquared and square trade. Food for thought.

I did it for now out of convenience which was a prorated amount & if I miss a monthly payment I can't get it back, do other insurers also want it added within 14 days?
I also may have a lot of grubby young hands on it during the holidays & feel a bit better about it now despite $130 deductible..
The deductible alone is enough for me to not go with the plan. Say after two years something happens you are out close to 300+ just to replace the phone? Might as well put that money towards something else

I hear you but it's better than the ~$698 with tax I paid for this new device & I wanted something to get me through the holidays (& the prorated cost was only $5 so far until mid Jan) so if you or anyone knows of something comparable that can be added after 14 days with a lower deductible let the thread know, -Thnx

Wow that is even more unappealing...
Now say that you lose or damage your phone how do they calculate what you are eligible to receive?
Thread is about "Monthly4G™ Handset Protection" which is for prepaid accounts (where such inflation would likely be less tolerated & *Monthly4G Handset Protection is not available on the iPhone®; not all devices sold by T-Mobile are eligible for Monthly4G Handset Protection Coverage) -unlike- Premium Handset Protection "Restrictions: Not available on prepaid accounts. You have 14 days from service activation, valid upgrade, or exchange to enroll in Premium Handset Protection." So far I'm preferring no contract prepaid service but I do understand such upfront investment is not practicable for everyone. We should monitor ongoing changes however. When I have more time I'll look into other options & post back.
Will existing customers that already have insurance at the old rate be grandfathered in at the old prices? If not, seems kind of unfair since they can no longer get any other protection so they really have no other option. Either go without coverage or pay the inflated prices.
Found the coverage. Interesting. It's the most expensive coverage out there. Not worth it if you ask me. I would shop around.

My 2 cents from my prev experience
Having dealt with the insurance company for a water damaged phone, I found out the following which was neither a blinding flash of the obvious nor well articulated (basically was in fine print.. big surprise) and so I thought I'll share this experience -
It's not as seamless as they make it sound. Especially getting the process initiated.
* When I called Tmob asking what my options were they said I could get a new device or pay the difference and upgrade to a newer model that may interest me.
* When I went to the store to do the needful, not only did they deny either of those as an option but also said their job is to only SELL the insurance and that I have to file a claim with the insurance company. This is where they tried putting the monkey on the other guy's back and tried their level best to escape the situation.
* I requested if I could call the insurance company using the store phone. The guy tells me with a smile on his face "I'm sorry you'll have to use your own phone." And this is while I'm holding a soaked phone.
*Anyhoo, I did some brain damage trying to get the insurance company on a line and this is what I find out -
"I am eligible for an exchange phone. does not mean they will replace my phone with a new phone; could be just as easily a "refurbished" phone. Moreover, tmob's claim that i could pay the diff and upgrade - yeah!, not so much... Insurance company told me that's not an option if filing a claim with this company (php or whatever their name is)."
Now as a financial analyst, I'd put my money on they would much rather inventory the return/refurbished devices in the initial few months of launch to service genuine victims 14 months down the lane; as against provide free upgrades to a Note 3. Especially given how desperately they try to create new revenue streams outta thin air; case in point, their "unlimited" data..
Anyhoo, my bias aside, only coz my experience was bad doesn't mean yours would be too... Just wanted to share my experience sicne rubber did meet the road here and let's just say there was a lotta screeching and burning smell
In my case what finally paid off is me following up with Tmob, yelling at them, making them realize that Ive been a customer for 5 yrs and have had enough of this crap and will right that minute cancel my business and go elsewhere (wasn't bluffing so was okay if they called me on it).. Instead they sweetened the deal quite a bit, did not take me through the crappy insurance route and gave me a good price on the upgrade.
Bottomline - would it have worked? Probably! Is it worth giving my $7 to a company that makes me feel ****ty when I need their service? Probably not!!
My takeaway from this experience was simple - Unlike some of the other forms of insurance (auto, home, renters, etc) phone insurance has not evolved enough for it to be a valuable product. I'd much rather hedge my options in other ways coz even $7 a month isn't a small amt. It's almost $100 just by itself over the aforementioned 14 months. Then a $130ish deductible and you end up with a refurbished version of a phone you first bought a year back?!?! There's gotta be a better math to adopt...
Cheers!
As I stated elsewhere, buying into Tmobile's insurance have to be pretty much one of thee most expense route you can take. I have the following insurance with
http://www.worthavegroup.com/cell-phone-insurance
these are the benefits,
1) for 2 year coverage of the phone, it cost me like $110
2) it cover all damages, including water and also covers theft
3) low deductible $50
4) You can have unlimited claims instead of the 2 by tmobile but if you abuse that too much, they can deny insuring you after a certain amount.
So pretty much, you guys that are going through tmobile are throwing away your cash when there are alternative companies out there.

I'll look into http://www.worthavegroup.com/cell-phone-insurance thanks, had you used them before the Note2 eccoodamo?
- Anyone else recommend them or others?
Technically it's still a business expense for me but that doesn't mean I don't want to save the business $ & me hassles.. -Thnx
I went with squaretrade.
Doesn't cover theft. Cost me $85 for two years.
Reason I went with them is because the warranty is tranferrable.

I wouldn't have been able to get my Note 2 for free without it so I pay it.
Why would you add Handset Protection, when you will get a refurbished unit in return when filing a claim?
I always wanted to get insurance, pay every month for about a year and then act on my claim and get a new phone from my insurance provider. Once i get a new phone (when i obviously didn't need one in the first place) i can either keep a spare for myself (and as a result, cancel insurance) or just have a device i can sell.
Anyone done this successfully?

Insuring for Galaxy Note 4

I am coming from best buy Geek Squad with no deductible. I know best buy is still much better than sprint but I am looking for insurance that offers me the best protection including accidental drops and water damage and coverage for lost and stolen phones (although I'm willing to give this up if I have to in return for a great accidental plan with low ddeductible) I'm curious what everyone else is planning to go with to protect their new phone. With bestbuy I had my phone ran over by a semi and dropped from high elevation (both theories technically not covered) but was replaced twice at no charge.
Anyone find this kind of great insurance else where?
Maybe I'll just do geek squad and drop sprints insurance

I haven't looked at specifics between plans to compare, something I need to do but I recently read an article on one of the many android-centric sites about best buy's updated insurance plan and it is not so good, a few months back it was modified greatly and at quick glance it was worse than what is provided through sprint. These aren't exact numbers but it was something like 40 dollars per claim even if work (as in fix/replace) is done or not and deductible was through the roof for high-end smartphones [audit needed]. I just remember many of the commenters on the article were saying they were jumping ship from BB insurance and going with sprint's.
No insurance for me. Never had it on a phone I've owned.

ahhh, nice, cheaper than both BB and Sprint:
http://www.samsung.com/us/owners/protection-plus/mobile-elite/?CID=AFL-hq-mul-0813-11000170
+1 Samsung
Sprint: $11 x 24 = $264 + $200 deductible, total $464
BB/GeekSquad: $149 up-front + $149 service fee, total $298
Samsung: $129 up-front + $95 service fee, total $224
Sprint includes service/repair in their monthly cost, but not replacement.
BB/GS&Samsung all charge a service fee any severity problem.

Thank you so much for this information. This is what I will be going with. Currently I have been paying $22 a month with best buy for 2 phones and never used it for one of the phones. That is $264 per device over the 24 month policy term that I paid. Samsung seems to have the best plan available for me and seems to have the lowest deductible which has been my concern. I live paycheck to paycheck and do not have $150-$200 to pay to best buy or sprint if I was to need to make a claim and $95/per claim would much easier on me. Again, Thank you for sharing that information. I don't understand why samsung has not marketed this a little better maybe in their commercials or something. Hopefully they will market it better so it will do good. I have been on the samsung site every day for the last week waiting for note 4 accessories and have never seen this.
Squaretrade is even cheaper than Samsung. It has a lower deductible and the premium is cheaper too..

I'm also coming from geek squad with no deductible on my GS4 , and I'll be going to square trade it's the best deal for $100 for 2 Years or 5$ a month and it's a 75$ deductible cheapest of all them, I'll miss the no deductible tho :/
Only the Sprint policy covers lost or stolen phones so something to keep in mind.
I'm not cheer-leading for them just adding info to the archives.
I do use Square Trade on my other electronics but will probably keep the Sprint insurance for a year.

I haven't filed a claim with them yet, but Worth Ave. Group insurance seems to be the best deal, and has great reviews: http://www.worthavegroup.com/product/cell-phone-insurance/
For a $699 phone and $50 deductible, it's $69 per year. From their site, "Each policy covers the cell phone for Accidental Damage such as drops and spills as well as Theft, Fire, Flood, Natural Disasters and Lightning Strikes. With a low $50 deductible and premiums starting as little as under $4 a month, this policy accommodates every budget. We cover NEW, USED and REFURBISHED devices."
I've been doing some more digging around about policies and this might be some useful information.
Options for people concerned with lost/stolen smartphones
-Renters/Homeowners Insurance - you'll need to add a "Valuable Personal Article" to your plan - this is also the cheapest way to go out of all of them, but only covers loss not damage (same insurers may cover damage)
-Sprint (insurance by Asurion)
If only concerned about broken/damaged smartphones (plans exclude loss)
-Squaretrade
-Samsung
Alternative ...best deal of them all but there is some risk (imo)
-Worth Ave. Group
Note: They pay out cost of plan instead of repair/replace. If you go with the $899 plan and if something happens to the phone they send you $899. The issue I found is if you look up reviews online (not on their website) there are mixed reviews, people have had problems with their claims and WAG's customer service. So there seems to be some risk here of getting the money, also the wait-time of processing the claim and actually receiving the money. [update] They don't cover loss and their definition of theft is extremely specific, read their fine print.

Also, if you're using Easy Pay and plan to upgrade in a year, you can only trade in the original device or a Sprint approved replacement. If you use other insurance and get a replacement, you'll have to keep it the full two years.

Samsung has insurance? Is it well priced?
I didn't even realize that bestbuy changed. I've been looking around for the negative reviews by Worth Ave and I can't find any. I've seen a few that claim to be negative but the details sound like people are trying to get coverage on things that were stated not to be covered. I'm not trying to defend them by any means. Just looking for where all these mixed reviews are posted.

Here is a good place to look BBB, yes they are 'resolved' but if you read them, many are not to the customers satisfaction.
There's also more, just google for it, you'll need to do some digging through ads/promotions and whatnot. Some of the complaints have to do with technicalities in the fine print that allow the company to deny the claim. For example if my phone is stolen I'd expect reimbursement from the claim under any circumstance, not an investigation into why it doesn't fit their definition of theft and then denied. Here's a scenario they would deny: Your at starbucks and place an order, you go find a table and put your phone on it, they call your name and you get your coffee, you come back to an empty table. Stupid absolutely, but the phone was stolen (theft), Worth would deny that claim because the phone was unprotected and "free for the taking". That's a simplistic example of the reviews/complaints/issues i've found. Basically there has to be some act of vandalism (breaking and entering/physical attack etc) along with the act of theft for it be covered and apparently this is in the fine print and not in their advertisements.

Thanks for that reply. I did read the BBB. At least some of them. A lot of the issues did deal with people leaving their cars unlocked or breaking in commercial used vehicles. I don't know about worth ave ads since I usual don't read the ads. I've yet to leave any of my phones unprotected and I'm anal about locking things up. However, as far as insurance goes the only ones I've looking at don't offer replacement for stolen devices of any kind. Samsung and squaretrade. Since I don't like a lot of time to go by on waiting for a replacement Squaretrade is out for me.
Aursion brunt me bad. I filed a BBB case against them myself. Had liquid damage with my note 2. After agreeing to pay the high deductible they sent me a broken replacement and refused to replace the replacement. Sprint kept telling me I had 10 days to get them to replace it but they wouldn't do it. I spoke to supervisors at Aursion and did all I could to get them to replace my broken replacement and they told me the only way they'd do it if is if I paid another 250 or whatever stupidly high price they are charging. I ended up having to wait around for a week for Sprint to get me a replacement device and surprising that device didn't work so I had to wait yet another week. I did finally get a working phone and I was refunded the deductible on the grounds of TEP not following their contract. I had to get a hold of sprint corporate in order to make this refund happen. Aursion didn't appear to be happy with the way things went and made sure I knew that I would never have to use them again.
Under the Samsung insurance if my device fails under normal circumstances will they still get me a fast replacement and not charge me 95 bucks to fix their problem? That for me is the kicker. If not, I'm probably going to go with Worth Ave. I'm not really counting on my phone being stolen but I do spend a lot of time on the water. Liquid damage is my worse enemy. I didn't want the S5 and no case so far offers waterproofing. For now, I'll just use a waterproof box and a bluetooth. Despite these measures I had one of those boxes fail on me taking my device with it. This week I'll be going through Worth Ave's terms and conditions and e-mailing them questions on anything I'm unsure about.
I still don't understand how Best Buy went from being on the best to what I'm calling one of the worst in terms of insurance. From the looks of things even it is covered under warranty they may still charge to fix or replace it. I understand people gaming the system but I think they went a little to aggressive on stopping that from happening.
i've never had an issue with Geek Squad and my Note 2 other than having to use one of my own phones as a backup until it was fixed (don't carry sprint phones for some reason). I had a bad string of unfortunate events within about a 3 month period and went through three Note IIs. They replaced each one without question. The last replaced phone was about four months ago. i suppose I'll be finding out what has changed since then when my phone comes in.

Why not go with liquipel? I don't mean the self applied external only stuff they sell but their service that waterproofs inside and all. They downplay its functionality somewhat on their site but check out the youtube videos of multi-hour submersion in water. And if you live near Santa Ana or Vancouver you can get it done locally in 20 minutes instead of waiting for shipping.

Probably a stupid question, but can you do 2 warranties at the same time? For example, i want to be covered for the lost/stolen part of sprint, but I also want the lower deductible from Squaretrade. Is that possible?

What is the 2 Year Pixel Extended Service Plan/Accidental Damage worth to you now?

Just wondering for the people who purchased the accidental damage/extended warranty plan. I purchased the 2 year ESP solely for "warranty" purposes and not for Accidental Damage purposes (even though it comes with accidental damage).
For people who got the extended plan; Is anyone going to seek a refund now that the Pixel 2 and the XL variant come with a 2 year warranty from the start?
Hate to break it to you but if you have to use the extended warranty plan even if it's for a phone defect you'll have to pay the deductible (Google sends you to deal with Assurant). With Google's factory warranty you don't pay anything for a warranty replacement.
Yeah...doesn't seem right. It's extended coverage?
So it's good for 1 year past the factory warranty. We're good for 3 years then.

Looks like Google clarified this, so it may be a little better for those with extended care. So, no deductible unless it's accidental damage.
"We also want to add some clarification on the 2 year warranty and preferred care.
If you already purchased your Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL from the Google Store or an authorized retailer, your warranty will be extended to 2 years.
The length of the preferred care program remains the same. If you have a mechanical breakdown issue in the second year, you will no longer have to pay a deductible. Accidental damage is still subject to a deductible. If you bought Preferred Care and want a refund you can get a full refund on your purchase of preferred care for up to 30 days, or a pro-rated refund anytime after that." http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/1...xel-2-xl-units-two-year-warranties-worldwide/

Yes exactly. I think some people thought that the preferred care/protect warranty didn't include a deductible if you used it for mechanical breakdowns but you do have to pay it. So by Google extending their warranty it benefits those that bought the extended coverage at well.

Good to know.
I may just keep the protection, but haven't decided yet. I like how the phone is IP67 resistant. I go kayaking on a lake sometime and get some splashes here and there. Always had to keep previous cell phones in ziplocked tight bags, but I do not plan to with this one. In case something happens during kayaking, would definitely be a claim
Also, It definitely is a lot cheaper than Verizon protection plan. Comes out to 5 and change a month over a course of 2 years? Not bad at all. Verizon would be almost double that

Verizon's plan does cover loss and theft though. Google's plan does not.
