I dislike the SMS and Hancent text programmes.
I migrated from a Nokia E71 and prefer the simple SMS format
PLEASE PLEASE help as all I want is an app that will work and give me simple texts with an INBOX DRAFT SENT OUTBOX
can someone please help?
I cant think of any reason you want to do that - non-threaded convos were one of the bigger reasons I got rid of my E71
But to answer your question, I have np idea if such sms replacer app exists :-[

Definitely agree, wen I first saw the threaded verson I thought wtf is this n how do I turn it off!! But within a day of using it, I realised its the best improvement to sms that I've seen in a LONG time. Stick with it and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for that but I also had an Iphone which I hated.
I am familiar with 'conversations' but whatever anyone else thinks I prefer the old system and find the thread way confusing and annoying!
I want a simple INBOX SENT OUTBOX
I may have a 2 week old Desire for sale if not

lol your not serious about selling your desire just because it has as default the conversation sms style?
look in the market maybe theres something for you, if not then get used to it cuz it really isnt that hard and your probably 1 out of 100+ that doesnt like this style, and to be honest most of the phones these days have it that way anyway so might be a bit tough for you to replace the functionality of a desire with a different phone that has the 'old' sms style
btw. instead of having the simple INBOX SENT OUTBOX u got even simpler all in one. theres no need for outbox anyway
Wow... I can't believe that some people don't like conversation view. It saves so much time compared with flicking between the message I'm writing and the one I'm replying to!

You're not the only one. I also hated conversation view when I got my Hero, but got used to it eventually. I might look at creating an app to solve this problem (simple mind you, like an SMS reader rather than AIO)
I can understand you because when I receive sms from my girlfriend I prefer having an isolated message than a thread thats looks more like a chat ^^ search on the market for sms manager its a freeware

What I find annoying is the small space allocated to my text message as I'm entering it. Why not devote half a screen to it so I can see my whole message as I type it? Sometimes I type a long sentence and the start has scrolled off, so i only notice mistakes after i've sent them.

I hope you will create an app?
The more & more I use texts the more & more I am tempted to switch back to my Nokia E71
OK instead of people telling this guy he's crazy for not loving it let's attempt to be more helpful in a practical sense.
What is it in particular you find confusing about a threaded conversation? Give me an example of a use case where having your messages organised in this way is less than suitable. Maybe if we clear up the confusion you'll find it easier.

well if you do go back to the E71 dont ever upgrade your phone because as far as i know all phones are using this new conversation style sms system now even the new nokias so i would try and get used to it if i were you.
Ok, so a friend asked me to text them with another friends number. Sure, I said, no problem.
I started a new message (using Polymod 2.1D) filled in the number of my friend who asked, and then started to compose the actual message.
But, for love nor money, could I find any option to insert a number from my contact list!
I exited the message and went to the contact list. I found the "Share" option, but that simply made an email with a .vcf attachment!
Is there anyway to be able to insert a contact into a text (sms) message?
The default messaging program isn't that great.
I personally like ChompSMS which does what you want but have a look though the market and see which one is best for you.
And which is Best you think?

I have strange "pop up" type messages in my status bar (with star icon)? Where are they coming from ? I purposely clicked message and it took me to picture #3. I want to figure this out since one of my family member have same issue on his Nexus S. See attachments.
It's called push notification. You have installed an app with that service. They are evil. Goto the market and install addons detector. Choose push service and it will tell you what apps have push service active. Then uninstall that crap and send the dev a email telling him to suck it.
Thanks. Those things started after installing one skin.. maybe coincidence but I will check it
Edit: Found it. Thanks !!!
No prob. Thats what community is all about. Make sure to send an email to the dev. Push service suks.
I had the same issue with an ICS skin for go launcher had a hell of a time tracking it down too.

Hi,
I am not sure if this is the correct forum for such a question, but I'm just shooting in the wild here. Please suggest to move it if not the right forum.
What I would like to know is that are there any replacement apps for the caller/caller ID for CM7. This is the screen that you see after you've dialed the number (or getting a call): with bluetooth, spkr, dialer, end call there. I don't know what it is exactly called, but I would like to know if there are any apps that replace it?
I'm using Go Launcher EX and everything looks so nice and smooth until you dial the number and a ugly stock Android screen with a small picture stares at you.
Your suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks.
Maybe You coud try Go contacts

Its called the "dialer". Just search "dialer" on the Market, and you will find a bunch of replacement dialers. And as mentioned above, Go Contacts is a good one. Go apps are well done, and Go Contacts has lots of themes, so you can tailor the appearance to your liking.
