When I do [hold]Power button -> Power off my HOV seems to go into a sleep/hibernate mode because when I power it on after that it powers on real fast (like 5 seconds).
When i do [hold]Power button -> Reboot, it initiates a full reboot (with htc logo white screen) which lasts a bit longer.
And i'm counting in the shutdown time when rebooting.
You can see it more precisely if you do 'adb reboot bootloader' and then 'fastboot reboot' when it gets to hboot.
Any ideas?
u on stock or custom?

yea happens to me on stock, if you go into your build.prop there's a string you can change, it's in the middle\bottom to stop the "sleep" thing, cant remember what the string is.
Have you tried turning off Settings> Power> Fast Boot ?
If you've checked the 'Fast Reboot' option in Settings->Battery, the phone wont shut down. It will get back to it's state in a few seconds!

And hey paarthdesai, just check the 'Fast Reboot' option if you wanna reboot it in a few seconds... But it's not a good thing to always do a fast reboot... As you see, the phone doesn't close all the processes and even if it's switched off.. It's actually on If something goes wrong with your phone (just a small problem) and you think to reboot it, Fast Reboot wont solve your problem.

Hi,I managed to root my desire and now I just need to flash rom. But I cant get into recovery menu.I tryed with rom manager, tryed with power+ volume up. Both end up same : phone starts vibrating and just shows htc logo in white screen. Can any1 help me with this problem? Also, I downloaded Cpu tuner in hopes that my phone would stop rerstarting. But that dont seem to work...max - 998, min - 245. Maybe I should make max lower ? It restarts in apps. 10 min. max of any app/game and restart. While I watch movie it happens only 1 time in middle. Also when I'am charging it,it can restart even while I'm scrolling in menu.
Put the phone in refrigerator for only 5 minutes and then start the recovery. If it still restarts then flash your desired ROM while keeping the phone into refrigerator.

Well that sounds crazy but logical
Yeah its sound crazy but this is the solution right now for boot loop problem caused by increased temperature of mainboard.
Before executing the refrigerator trick, ensure that you don't have any software problem by factory resetting.

Yes,I know. But when I select recovery my phone just starts vibrating and shows just htc logo. I read somewhere that then you need to press power+vol up. Anyway that dont work for me Anyway. I downloaded Radio 32.56.00.32U so I wanna ask how to install it and will I be able to use my phone for calling and texting? I mean maybe it changes something?
first hit volume down and then power button if u do vice versa phone will restart. simple

K,DevNull works. But not how I expected it to. Phone still restarts when I use almost any app or game. Maybe some1 have any idea why?
what about your recovery? it solved? the restart problem might be caused by over heating the mainboard.. Max of 998mhz is the normal clock of the snapdragon cpu and must not make any problem... if force close problems do Fix Permissions by recovery (if recovery is present, if not reply so I'll guide you through flashing of recovery process..)
Good Luck

SCENARIO 1: MOST DANGEROUS!! NOW FIXABLE
All One Series phoneshaving been facing this problem of QHSUSB_DLOAD where the phone is completely bricked and rendered unusable. It has been reported by many people that pressing Volume Up + Power instead of Volume Down + Power can be a deadly mistake...You have to send the phone to HTC and they will repair it but instead you could avoid this brick by being a tad bit careful and not pressing the Volume Up instead of Down...
This is just one case but it may also happen in other cases but this is easily avoidable unlike others which just happen out of the blue...This is one precaution which can help you.
SCENARIO 2: POTENTIAL BRICK!
Also if battery is extremely either switch it off or wait for it to switch off...Do Not REBOOT YOUR PHONE...That might just cause this above error as well....
SCENARIO 3: TOOOO LONG!
Do not hold your Vol Down +Power Down for toooo long like 10+seconds or it might cause a brick. IF it doesnt go to bootloader or if you are scared use this fastboot command: adb reboot bootloader or try the button combination again..
SCENARIO 4: STAY AWAY FROM ROM MANAGER
Please stick to the safe way of flashing by accessing recovery manually and refrain from the use of Rom Manager..It uses fakeflash which is potentially dangerous for most phones...
SCENARIO 5: THE UNPRECEDENTED ONE!
The above scenario just happens..It might have no proper explanation like it happened to someone while he was talking on the phone...etc
Fix for QHUSB-DLOAD issue

Not that I doubt any of the info given here, earlier I did try vol+ and pwr a few times and get into some kind of download mode, so I rebooted and nothing changed. So maybe it is something in addition to getting into that mode.
Can this maybe be used to get s-off? Download mode sounds like something that might be able to write to hboot

Yup, I can confirm. This is what happened to me. I didn't press Vol Up, just Down + Power and I think I held it for too long, then I got the dreaded UHUSB_DLOAD error.
It's at HTC right now, so hopefully get it back soon.
So you can press volume up + power at any time and it'll just brick your phone? Do you have to hold it? Seriously... I can't believe a phone gets released in this state. I will never buy another HTC phone again.
The *intended* function of Vol Up + Power is actually for accessing stock recovery after you choose it in bootloader :O Have no idea why it'll be linked to bricking.
I realize it is dangerous, but is there a way to lock power-off and/or getting into recoverymode with a lockpattern? Since all other security measures (like gps-tracking) won't matter if a thief can just power-off your phone or boot into recovery en just change the rom or things like that.
Any ideas are more than welcome
Nevermind what I posted was dangerous...
Not advisable to erase recovery as your phone goes into recovery when you power off.
Meaning if you erase recovery then power off your phone. Its likely it won't turn on again.
Think of all the bricked xls by flashing our recovery by mistake

I probably mean a bootloader lock then. That you have to unlock your phone before being able to put it into fastbootmode.

Well, the One X is still a pretty expensive phone. "Professional" thiefs will definitely know what they are steeling and how to handle it (or know someone who does). If people steel my phone, I'd like it to be completely useless to them, but still usable to me if I get my phone back of course. It sounds spectacular though, but I'm not looking for an app that lets the battery explode after 3 fail-attempts or something
Since I've had my DHD, I've installed tons of different ROM's and I'm always fascinated at what I can do, but in that time, I totally forgot about how awesome it was that I could boot my phone in like, 5 seconds when it was new. 5 second boot time was because the phone was never shutting down, "fastboot" option was ticked in power and it made the phone go into a type of hibernate power state. It was never off, that's why it booted so fast. That's why even if you had an alarm set, it ringed.
So, lets cut to the chase here.
Was playing around with my CM10.1 powered Galaxy W when it shutsdown by itself when its on sleep mode.
I tried switching it back on and it just shows the "Samsung" brand name in verry short seconds and then repeats from the start. How to fix this manually? Am i suppose to go for SSC???

If you didn't install any custom kernel/mod/system tweak, then from CWM recovery, you could try the "wipe data/ factory reset" option. See if it helps in any way. Although...from what you're saying...looks like you've got some custom stuff in there. For this case, I'm afraid your only way out is by making a pristine install of that ROM.

Well, both sound like ROM issues to me now. But apparently at least one of them (the reboot issue) should be fixed. So head over to the dev thread. Looks like there is some new stuff in there. Also if the auto-turn-on thing when inserting the battery is not fixed too, you might as well report this in that thread.

Standard battery? Could you try with another (maybe stock) battery. Also...does it happen with any CM version?
This ain't software related....it's hardware related.....guaranteed.
It's a faulty power button.
The power button is behaving as if it were being continuously held in.
If you continually hold the power button on a normally booting W I bet you could replicate these exact symptoms. The results would be the same on insertion of the battery too.....
I answered an identical question a few weeks ago in this forum....and having done some research on the issue, I can tell you the only way you're going to fix it is take it to a service centre where they'll replace the entire main board......the power button is soldered directly to it.....
I'm guessing you can't successfully enter download mode either? So flashing back to stock beforehand isn't an option either....that shouldn't be a problem though.....if you can't get the phone to boot, they won't be able to either.....so they won't be able to tell what OS you're running. Even if they can, there's NO WAY they can argue that running a cusROM caused the power button to fail. Don't forget that the warrantee on Samsung phones is 2 years........

yea... I totally agree with keithross39. it's hardware related... Me and @hurtsky have this problem before too~ what i did is, insert the battery (and it will power on automatically). then spam the power button while it's booting... and it successfully booted (because the power button is not 'holding' anymore), you will see the reboot dialog pop out or screen turning on and off automatically. If you are lucky (like me) i fixed it myself by spamming the power button add don't press the power button anymore.... For now, I use the notificationbar's widget as screenoff, use terminal emulator to reboot or reboot recovery. I know that's weird, But I don't want to send it samsung because my phone is not original, it's AP
