Introducing Terminus ROM, my first attempt at cooking a customized build. The story behind this ROM is basically that I got sick of doing the same bunch of things every time I flashed a ROM, so, I decided to put all my favorite things together in to a ROM and hopefully you all can enjoy it as much as I have. Our community has a bunch of great devs, and there is no sense in not taking full advantage of what they have to offer us.

About
Q - How do you say your nick?
A - You would say "Van-ber-gay". Or just "Van"
Q - What the heck is a Terminus ?
A - Terminus is latin, and means 'A boundary mark, border, end'. I thought that was a good name for a first ROM
Terminus ROM is
Focused on being lightweight, clean, fast
Based on stock rooted and deodexed FF18 (datajosh)
Agat's FF18 repacked kernel with Agat recovery
Full Implementation of Kobridge tweaks (Super fast version, includes build.prop tweaks)
Launchers of choice: LG Home launcher, GS3 Launcher, Stock Touchwiz
Massively debloated by Calk's bare ROM converter
Fast (Kobridge)
Good on battery (Kobridge)
Primarily stock themed, but I'm working on that.
Expanded toggles in the notification bar (slashepic and Team Venum)
Installation
TAKE A NANDROID BACKUP
Odin to EL26 stock repack with CWM found here
Flash Calk's Format All (not the modified, the format ALL) for E4GT found here
Flash Terminus Rom
I will try to hone my skills for incremental updates, but for now I can't say to do anything but a full wipe before installation.
Who makes this possible? My sincerest thanks to you all
Kobridge - for amazing tweaks
Agat - for his FF18 repack kernel
Calkulin - For his bare ROM converter and Format zip found here
Impact7 - For his port of the LG Home Launcher
Smando - For his port of the GS3 TwUX Launcher
Slashepic and Team Venum - For the amazing extended toggles for ICS
Datajosh - for the FF18 stock rooted deodexed build
Sextape - For the original leak
Chris41g - For his EL26 CWM repack that everyone uses to flash every ROM, and for some cooking advice
These devs are all amazing. Please consider a donation to them if you like their work
Roadmap
A solid theme
Including debloated apps on sdcard or data to allow them to be re-installed if desired
More intelligent installer script to allow modified wipes and keep user data
Remove boot/shutdown sounds, custom Boot animation
Taking suggestions
Changelog
6/21/12 - Initial release - Terminus Rom 0.1.0
FAQ
What apps were removed as part of de-bloating, and can I put some of them back?
Calkulin's thread lists all the apps removed. I am not including them currently, but may in the future put them on /sdcard/removedapps like Calk's script does by default. If you absolutely must have one of these apps back on your phone, you could pull it from datajosh's stock FF18 deodexed and push it back to /system/app, making sure permissions are rw-r--r--
What launchers are in this thing again?
Stock touchwiz, the stock ICS launcher, the TwUX GS3 launcher, and the LG launcher. You should be prompted to pick a launcher at your first boot. "Home" is the LG launcher. "Touchwiz Home" is the GS3 launcher. If you want to switch later, just go to settings -> apps -> all and find the launcher and clear defaults.
My battery isn't lasting very long?
If you're having any issues with battery life, first and foremost thing would be to try a different set of Kobridge tweaks. I have included the "Super Fast" version in this ROM. His aggressive and moderate versions will use less battery at the cost of some performance - it's just all about finding the right balance for you.
Nice! Goodluck with this

okay I've turned my back on the e4gt development since around the first days of the ics leaks... i just spent about 20min sifting thru all these roms (glad to see so much development! )
i have to leave for work shortly... could someone please point out a rom or two that 1. use the stock THEME and 2. have most/all of the mods/tweaks
i hate blue or excessive theming of any color ...except green

Well for one our rom "Goodness" has a green theme and we have a stock themed build also.
FF18 and FH13

Cracked stock FH23 / tweaked calk venum ROM FF18. Both are stock with a lot of tweaks. Both are from manufan721. Both roms are very smooth, stock looking, and very good on battery. Check them out.

I have newborn twins and don't have time to flash and try out everything like I used to. I want to flash an ICS ROM and it appears BluKuban and MIJJz ICS GOODNESS are both excellent options.
Knowing they are probably both awesome, all I really want to know is if either one, both, or neither is capable of looking like stock ICS theme (like the screenshot).
Besides that, any additional comparative info between the two (pros/cons) would be nice to know as well. THX.
Congratulations, first and foremost.
The goodness rom can look more like stock than the blu kuban. Both have the rom updater feature in the settings.
Since they updated the goodness a few days ago, a lot of the mods are missing from the updater so give them some time or get the second newest version.
The Blu Kuban is almost completely blue and black. It's too dark for me personally so I moved to the goodness.
But they are both pretty stable.
Of those two options I prefer Goodness. With that being said I'm currently running the vanilla AOSP ICS rom from times infinity and I love it. If you want a plain rom that works well check that out.
Goodness has the most views and downloads for this phone for a reason, go check it out.

Goodness v16 had a "stock theme" that could be flashed over the Goodness default theme and was about as close to stock that you could get while still enjoying the benefits of the custom ROM. As someone mentioned, the large variety of customizations available in v 16 have not yet made it to 17, but I suspect they will soon. In the mean time, the default Goodness theme is not a huge departure from stock. Just use the Updater once its loaded to remove the Extended Toggles and restore the standard ones.

AGREED nd if the mod and such are in the updater you can always use v16 which is (PACKED to the gills) until the server move is finished ...then fi25 will be PACKED sooner than ya think ...personally myself I've ran a few themes from v16 and haven't encountered any problems thus far! Currently playing with it.

What rom is running on your Sprint s3?
What made you go that way? Currently am using Freegs3 latest build. Using Ktweak
I am wondering which is best. It's been about a month since a rom from Free GS3 I am wondering if i am missing out on new features or is the rom just that damn good that updates are few and far between. I am kinda wanting to keep sbeam and svoice or i would just flash cyanogen.
Whats your guys' take on it?
I am using FreeGS3 myself and it is my favorite rom to date. Clark44 has been busy with school and said that as of 12/21 he will be able to start working on an update. In the meantime he said to check the UpdateMe app for additions in there. I use FreeGS3 because I am not big on color themed roms and just prefer a smooth rom with great battery life and some added features here and there. So my choices with that are basically FreeGS3 or Freeza's Fre3 rom (don't remember off the top of my head what exactly it is called). I have used both roms and they are both excellent.
Aokp cuz it's the best
Also using FreeGS, I've tried CM and AOKP and MIUI, keep coming back to this room for the motion features plus it just works!

Couldn't have said it better. FreeGS3 is the one. Performance, battery life and features are solid.
I'm not interested in flashy coloured ROMS with 3 breasted elves and tooted serpents, etc. Those things irritate me to no end.
freegs3 here too.. main reason was i wanted something stable, upgradable, unthemed, and it had options to NOT install tweaks i didn't want. very stable rom, battery life's great, does everything i need it to do.
Yeah I hate themed ROMs too, not to mention 95% of them look gaudy and make my eyes trickle blood.
I'm running LiquidSmooth for 2 reasons:
1. It's unimaginably smooth, like the UI is consistently at 60 FPS. The only time I ever notice slowdowns is when I scroll to the bottom of my apps from the Play Store while it's loading icons
2. I love the Nav Bar, coming from the Galaxy Nexus, and prior to that the iOS, it really changes how Android works. My last phone before I switched was the EVO 3D, before that the EVO 4G and then the Hero. The menu button was relevant then, but now it's really dumb guessing if an app has a menu or not. Even with the Nav Bar (set to 44p instead of the default 48p) it really doesn't use much of the screen. In fact makes it more comfortable for me to use one handed since I don't have to contort my thumb to the capacitive back button that is usually where my palm rests.
I like FreeGS3, but Samsung's implementation of the Nav Bar sucks, especially without the slide up for Google Now shortcut.
I questioned going back to the Nexus after a couple days with the GS3, because almost all ROMs on that are fully featured and are only without camera, MMS, etc. for a short amount of time, but LiquidSmooth has kept me for the long haul. Over the 3 years I've spent with Android, I never imagined it would be so fluid so soon. Not even CM or AOKP give me the same fluidity.
Currently on The People's Rom. Great options, almost weekly updates. Performance and battery life are great. (Used to run TPR on my OG Epic as well). The Nexus nav bar can be added to most roms by adding a line to the build prop.
I'm running FreeGS3 also. I've tried many of the other roms but keep coming back to it. I don't like the themed roms either, I prefer to just use morphology to change the things I want.

Exactly this, but I'm running Freeza's DeoDeoxed stock ROM. Love everything about TW..!
I run Odex Blue because I like TW functionality and the color blue and inverted apps. Also, steve is very responsive and has some great assistance that allows for fun options on an Odexed Rom.
I've been using the stock rom, I love things that AOKP can do (If you hate touchwiz and Samsung, I would go with AOKP) like emoji and stuff, but I find myself coming back to touchwiz because I like the features they did. They got it right for me so I stuck with it.

I'm running ParanoidAndroid. I love the ability to set custom dpi for each individual application... But unfortunately the developer just recently halted development... So I'm in the market for a new ROM, might check out PAC-man rom once it's stable.
I'm running Sacs23 new rom. Its light and fast. Plus he is also working on multi view option. Its new so I haven't test battery life yet but seems to be doing good so far.

Running Team Nocturnal's "Goodness" JB rom.
Using it because there are awesome devs (themers, coders, etc) working together every day on it so updates come regularly. It is stable, fast, smooth, has great battery, and the colors added are just right. It has options galore due to the built in updater so everything from lockscreen to notification bar can be changed. It integrates with Rom Toolbox as well. Has all the compatible 4.2 apps and latest features so it never feels like your phone is being left behind. Support in the thread is great as well due to the dedication of the devs/contributors to this rom.
Has anyone found a way to get the touchwhiz featurs on an aosp rom such as cyanogen. I would love cyanogen but i like sbeam alot
I switch ROMs daily (I need my fix...)
Different TW rom on weekdays, and asop on weekends :3

Been using clarks up until 2 weeks ago. Started using jellybombed then. As of 2days go its tpr. Now im in love with the peoples rom.
Its got a stock feel like clarks rom and it uses aroma installer so you can customize it the way you want it.
The biggest difference is the updates. You gotta stay on top. So kenny is da man right now.
I am using CM10 ROM stable. It has run pretty smooth thus far!
Hi
am looking for a custom ROM for this phone , which is debloated , and optimized yet has every possible stock look to it .
thanks
Though I am gonna flash the fat ass ROM.
But its not debloated , if anyone can point me to a stock ROM thats optimized and debloated then I ll be highly thankful.
Energized from The Fantastic Galaxy S3
Take a look at CleanBean v0.6. It's stock TW that has been optimized. Runs incredibly smooth and stable with amazing battery life.

Try the original version of The People's Rom. It's got options to install apps vice just everything. (Slimmer version) Aroma installer allows you to pick and chose what is added.
What about blazer?
I'm on the Sac23's Synergy ROM port V2 and it looks pretty stock, but it is optimized and it have working multi window, and a great battery life. I would definitely recommend it if you like tw

tried many , but really somehow each rom has been modified themewise in one way or the other.
isnt there any stock rom , which has been debloated to bare minimum and has some customizations added for smoothness and better reception and battery
i know i am asking for too much may be , but i firmly believe there sghould be some for stock look lovers like me

If you load TPR and during aroma installer choose the apps you want it's flashed with the boatware you don't want out. Then you can use Morphology to give it the stock theme look completely.

Your best bet is to download the stock rom and debloat the .zip file yourself. Most rom creators wouldn't be doing much if that's all they did. That's why they add tweaks. Debloating mainly involves just deleting the apps you'd never use. Over time, you'll get to know which ones are necessary and if you mess up just restore your nandroid backup.
Hey guys..I've been thinking about rooting my note for a while now, problem is, I can't seem to settle on a ROM just yet. I'm looking for something with stock functionality (s-pen, multiwindow etc..) that's themeable and not stock looking...something clean tho..no swamp monsters or whatever lol. Just wondering what you guys would recommend. Thanks in advance
I would recommend trying them all out yourself. Look at the screen Hots posted and read through the op.

I highly recommend Whompasaurus, I've settled on it after trying several others. It gives you stock functionality, and more. Plus, it's easy to tweak and theme to your heart's content. It's fast and very stable and the latest version (4.2) was just rolled out today by the dev.
Another note: The Morphology zip flashes on top of Whomp flawlessly in case you want the additional theme options of that program (You just have to flash the Macks Updater zip first). Definitely check out the screenshots over in the the Android development forum to get a better feel for the various ROMs, but I really have to recommend Whomp. Let me know if you have any questions.
