I looked in the android secure folder and found some aesc files and deleted one and tried installing the app with no luck. I can not find the 2mdl file that every ones says is the problem of why it won't install apps on my sd card. Any help would be appreciated. Running on ICS Blazer.
Thank You
I haven't seen a usable solution for this on stock based ICS. Can you post a link to this info please?

Here is a link to one of many on the internet describing this error.

I can't tell if this old post really applies to this phone and the app 2 sd issue or not and it is a completely different version as well. If anyone else has a chance to test this let us know please. I'm on GB at the moment.

Hey,
When I try to install any application to my phone its giving me an error saying 'could not install on usb or sdcard "
Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
I've tried rebooting and the whole battery removal deal. My sd card is not set to read only. And applications are installed on the phones memory then I move them to my sdcard if I need to.

That is the name of the recovery.
What ROM is your phone using? Like CM7 or Myns WarmZ?
Also, what app are you trying to install and how are you going about installing it?
I noticed this on another site the other day. http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...on-usb-storage-or-sd-card-problem-on-android/
Hope that helps.
That's the exact problem I am having. Problem is, that file is not in my sd card!
How do I find out what rom I'm using? Its not in setting.. about phone.
I can you my phone is rooted using unrevoked, and I have never changed any rom or thing like that... its just been unrevoked (the latest one) and that's it... then I just install apps. So, the default rom?
And the difference between my problem and the one you posted is that All APPLICATIONS CANT BE installed, not just some... but it's the same error, exactly as it appears on that link above.

What program are you using to view your SD card? As the article suggests, use Root Explorer to search for the file. You may not be able to see "hidden" files using other explorers. Root Explorer is the default ninja app. ;+)
As far as "what ROM," if you've only used unrevoked, yes, you're just on the stock "default" ROM, albeit a rooted stock.
I was using esfile explorer and I did select the option to view hidden files but that didn't show me everything, apparently. I know this because I connected my phone to my pc, view the files from there and then I found this stupid file that causes this error.
I didn't have root explorer and obviously couldn't install it because of the issue in was having.
Thanks for the help everyone! Much appreciated.

Glad I could be of help! Happy EVOing!
Alright, I have no clue as to why this is happening. I went to every remedy with no working solution. Tried nearly every Rom and changed kernels.
I have uploaded a screenshot of what I get when I try to boot bt5, any help is appreciated.
Also when I go into any file explorer to find the "existing" file no such file is found, even formatted SD card to get the same error.

looks like whatever version of busybox you're using isn't working properly, try a different one
I've tried every version of busybox they have. Nothing seems to work. It's always the same errors.

Hi
I've posted a few threads relating to my issue, and I keep thinking it is solved, but the issue still lingers for me. The previous posts are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791701
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808195
My current issue is having a few apps write to storage. The 3 apps that are most obvious are:
Dropbox - when exporting a file, it says 'error exporting file'
Beautiful widgets - I download a skin, but it doesn't show up in the downloaded files list.
Sixaxis - I made a custom controller profile, and hit save, but it doesn't save. The folder to put downloaded profiles doesn't seem to exist.
I'm pretty sure this issue started when I used the Gnex toolkit to backup and restore when I was updating from Android 4.0.3 to 4.1.
If I knew it would help, I would go so far as to restore back to 4.0.3, and factory reset,
Anyone offer any insight into this?
Thanks
So you probably already checked this, but I remember having this problem when my sd was full...

Yep, still have about 5 GB free
So just to clarify, have you changed anything with your phone such as flashing a rom, rooting, or a custom kernel?
If so you might want go back to stock and see if that fixes it.

Yeah.
My carrier was being really slow about releasing Jelly Bean, so I rooted, and installed it myself.
It was "bigxie_JRN84D_rooted_busybox_deodexed" for 4.1 and
Maguro_JZO54K_Deodexed_Rooted_FactoryImage_teshxx for 4.1.2
Both just zipped version of the factory image. I didn't change the Kernel beyond that.
My carrier has now released the most current version now, so I could return to stock, then root again.
Sounds like a good idea, and if you're looking for a good Rom,I would suggest minco, it's as stable as stock and a whole lot faster with better battery life.

Think I got it solved.
Previously I was doing a factory reset on the phone, so it was restoring the same ROM.
Today I used the Gnex toolkit, and flashed the stock rom from google, and re-rooted. That seems to have worked. I can export files from Dropbox no problem now.
Glad to hear it

Need more information. What ROM did you flash. How did you fry your SD? are you SURE you changed the settings? If this is just a problem with stock browser is a simple solution to just remove it and use a better one?
intergalactic 2.4 and I was coming from urban ROM and now it's saying my SD card is blank and I can't connect it to my PC or Mac neither of them detect the card and I'm 100% sure I check the browser settings

I have as well fried a few external SD cards. I always remove mine when I flash a new ROM. I just fried my girlfriends.
I do not have experience with intergalactic 2.4. I suggest running a Nandroid backup.. trying to flash over a new ROM or reinstalling intergalactic 2.4. See if that fixes the issue. Or just using a different browser if you're not too attached to the stock. I run Hellfire 1.4. Love the ROM. Hopefully someone else will have a different/better suggestion than that for you.
Best of luck!
does removing the card before you flash a rom saves it from being damaged?

ROM? If you flashed GAPPS, version? Are you able to download just random .apk's from the net and not Play Store? Have you tried using another app store like Amazon or Samsung?
Gonna try another store see how that works thxs

Not sure if you have solved this yet but I was also having a similiar problem when I first got my Note 2 some months ago. If this doesn't help or you have solved your issue disregard it, hopefully it may be helpful to others in the future looking up answers to this problem.
It seems some apps can be installed incorrectly / get corrupted and this error will always come about no matter how much free space you have. It sees the old data persisting in your device and tells you you have insufficient space.
You can solve the issue if this is the case by deleting any stray .odex files in /data/app <- (this is in the root of your phone) You will need root access and a app such as solid explorer or root explorer (I would recommend solid explorer). You can find the suspect files by looking for any files in here that end in .odex and have no icon (just a generic file icon). The rest of the good files will end in .apk and have their respective icons.
