Help! My One V doesn't vibrate at all! - HTC One V

Okay,
Short story:
May build One V had light leak, so exchanged it and got a June build One V, and I realized it does not vibrate.
Long, detailed story:
It was my brothers birthday, and I decided that we should get him a phone, and I saw the One V at a really good price ($175 on sale) on Koodo (Telus - Canadian Network), and we got him that phone. After a few days, he told me he saw a small light leak from the LEDs of the touch buttons (It is a May build of the phone) and we decided to exchange for a new device. The new one came in today, and when we had turned it on, and set it up, I realized it does not vibrate AT ALL, not even the volume thingy when you put it all that way low, not even the keyboard, nothing. I had checked all the settings and they were all fine. Now I'm pretty sure it could be a hardware issue, but I did notice it had a different software number, which means it could be a software issue. I can here the vibrator motor sound, but just for a split second.
Sorry if I posted in the wrong section :/

so to start off and future reference, can you post QUESTIONS in Q&A please.
if your phone is NOT working properly, like vibrator then take it back to the place of purchase and get it swapped for a new one.

Been reading a bunch of this 'leaking' led lights, can you post a picture(s) of this? There's one in the general section but it's way too low res to tell

i had same problem
get it replaced
dont just say thanks hit thanks if i helped

You can get back your HTC One X through your IMEI number just make a complaint about your lost phone to the police station or tell about your lost phone to the HTC. No matter if someone change your SIM card your phone can be located through your phone's IMEI number, you will definitely get it back.
Now about my HTC One V-
It's a great phone. There are NO Heating Problems too.. Wi-Fi works superbly and camera is excellent. The ONLY thing I didn't like is the options button which we had in the other phones... I'm an Android user from years and now it's a little bit difficult to have it in my mind that me phone doesn't has the options button and has the "Recent Apps" button instead. 1 more thing- The 1Ghz Single-Core processor works fine but it does get stuck or freezes for a second sometimes... However, people ask this question frequently- "How will I reboot/make my phone work again when it hangs completely?" HERE'S THE ANSWER- The Phone doesn't hang (at least I've not experienced such a situation on my One V...). It just stops for a second (SOMETIMES) and then it's alright. And I have NO Yellow spots too. Only the thing is that it's very necessary to get a scratch guard immediately as "I'm the ONE You've been waiting for" sticker has to be removed so that we can use the phone... It's also important to get a nice cover so that the great back metal body doesn't loose it's greatness.

gosh i miss Lee's Rom on the ONE X as it allows you to reconfigure the buttons... that stupid design by HTC seem to plague all ONE series phones...
Is there any good custom roms on One V which I can use?

[Q] New HTC One V Owner

Hi, first of all I'm new to this forum so hi
I'm also a new owner of HTC One V and my first attempt at Smart Phones and Android in general.
I've heard that HTC One Vs manufactured before May, have some kind of defects. Luckily, I managed to get my hands on a HT25 which is manufactured on May.
So far based on my research I should check my unit for the following:
Yellow Rings,
Wifi Signal,
Light leaks,
Volume Controls
Are there any that I missed? Are there anything that I should be careful of, like system update, etc. Are there anything I need to do to ensure that the unit I purchased is not defective?
*Also I forgot to include, should I invest in a screen protector for it? The store is offering a mat finish screen protector but I did not avail one because I want a sharper and higher contrast screen. Is the screen scratch resistant, is it doing well without a screen protector?
Thank you very much in advance.
1st of all welcome to the family mate
no u didn't missed anything
and yes investment in screen protector is must as to avoid clashes with keys and other harsh objects in ur pocket that can bring scratches to the screen
i alo recommend u to buy a case
so that if it falls u won't get a dent
-the 1st tym ul drop your mobile phone ul bang ur head thinking y did i nt purchased a cover soo as to avoid this situation i recommend you to purchase a cover
same goes with screen protectors
hope i answered all ua queries

thanks for the quick response, I'll make sure to get my baby a case and screen protector.
However I'm having problems with regards to my mobile carrier. A "Limited Service, Emergency Calls Only" is shown. And when I manually connect to my mobile provider it says "Your Sim Card does not allow a connection to this network". But sometimes it does connect, and suddenly disconnects after some time randomly. Is this some kind of a defect? If so, I should return the unit because they have 3 days replacement. Thanks
is it a carrier locked phone? if soo i don't know anything about it coz we get only unlocked phones

my bad turns out that the place where i'm charging the phone really has no signal. So far so good, I'm inspecting my phone from top to bottom. Fingers crossed, the symptoms are not showing up.
Last question is it recommended to upgrade my firmware to the latest (official)?
Thanks

Personnaly I found that mate ( non reflecting ) protectors become gray after time. The colors are more dull. The fingerprints are less showy but I prefer anyway a more transparent one. You might too, so you can better appreciate your screen's vibrant colors.

I would flash to latest firmwares personally. Although, if you're going to install a custom rom, let the developers do it for you in order to not brick your phone.

I ended up getting the matte finish as the screen protector, and I can say that I prefer the clearer one. It just happens that there's no clear one available atm. Regardless I can't stand the screen cover with the "HTC One V" sign in it.
Thanks for all the tips and answers. I'm loving my new HTC One V :good: Really great considering its price

[Q] ONE X Battery/LCD replacement query

I recently sent my phone for repair because of abnormal overheating within the battery (which consequently caused screen burn causing a yellow tint). I am happy to be informed that HTC replaced the LCD screen panel/touch panel and the bezel as well as a new battery.
I was wondering whether the battery/lcd parts are the same as the stock parts or different tweaked to stop this problem ever occurring again. Any ideas?
P.S. Have been away from the 'development' side of the OX forums as of lately (since i have no OX and didnt want to be reminded of that), I have noticed that there are now 2 android development forums for the OX, the original and the other is just standard. Is there any difference between the 2?
Regards,
There is an announcement at the top of those forums explaining the differences. & I think HTC will just replace your screen with another normal LCD/battery. They will be newer though. Sounds like yours was an unlikely case so I doubt it will happen again.

[Q] Having a few problems.

Hello guys,
My HTC One X is only two months old but I'm having a few problems with it since it has been a month old. Maybe even a week or two.
My first problem is that my HOX doesn't detect my earphones/headphones anymore. When I plug them in and play music, the music stays playing through the speaker. It doesn't matter how I turn or bend the jack a little bit, it keeps playing through the speaker. Nor does it display the earphones symbol in my statusbar at the top. Is this a software problem? Or a hardware problem?
My second problem is that when my screen sometimes doesn't react when I press the Power button, like it doesn't turn on when I press it. When I touch the screen, it sometimes vibrate though, like in it's working without any display (sometimes the buttons below the screen light up, but the screen doesn't. Sometimes both don't light up). Another problem is that my screen sometimes changes from color, like pixels becoming red or green or so; or my screen starts to act up, sometimes my screen zooms in a lot, sometimes it just start to go from up to down, like really from the top and the bottom, or sometimes it just acts up a lot like the parts of my screen go stand through eachother.
My HTC One X has the following specifications:
Android-version: 4.0.4
HTC Sense-version: 4.1
Softwarenumber: 2.17.401.2
HTC SDK API-niveau: 4.23
HTC expansionversion: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_20
Kernel-version: 2.6.39.4-g090b42e
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
Smalbandversion: 2.1204.135.20
Build-number: 2.17.401.2 CL89015 release-keys
Browserversion: WebKit/534.30
I already talked to the HTC Live Chat, they told me to boot my HOX in Safe Mode and I also performed a hard reset, none of those things worked. My HOX is still original, I didn't change anything, just bought it from the store called Vandenborre in Belgium. Also, my provider is Proximus, also located in Belgium.
Will this be fixed with Android Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 4.5? Or what causes this?
Greetings,
Digifais.
Sounds like hardware problems to me.. i dint think jelly bean will fix this.
Did you test other earpieces?
Why not just return the phone and ask for another one?

Had it been, on a custom rom, i would've said software issues, as some kernels and custom roms, just fail with some system elements. This is not the case, this is on a stock rom...confusing...
Your best bet is to send it to HTC and see if they can do anything with it, if it's still under warranty, well they don't have much choice... considering it isn't your doing which made it go weird.

Could I bring it to the store where I bought it aswell? I already e-mailed them and they said I should bring it to their store so their technicians can check it out. It's still under warranty because I got 2 years of warranty from the store. Some people said it could of been a model from the first shipment, because they were buggy or something like that.
I also tested other earphones, including the original HTC and one from Sennheiser. Both working in my iPod tho.

Possibly yeah, you should take it back and see what you can do. Yeah there's a way to check when it was built with the serial number in th options tells u the location where it was manufactured to.
For example mine is SH24X there's a method to work it on a thread on it. I can't remember how.

HOX Screen broken? GPU or software?

Good day guys,
I've read a number of threads on this forum about HOX screen problems and never quite had any until a couple of days ago.
All of a sudden I started getting yellow and pink pixels all over my screen. I thought that this was just a software issue in the beginning so I rooted, formated, installed a custom rom, and no luck, still have the same problem with the screen.
There is a number of interesting facts about this problem:
1) I have this when I restart the phone, in the boot menu, in the clockwork recovery, you can see the edge of the pixels being pink or some other random color.
2) When I press down hard enough around the volume+ area the problem seems to go away.
I wonder where this is the GPU dying on me, or perhaps this has to do with the connectors that run to the screen?
The phone never fell, or had any major damage, I did have it in my pocket all the time and when sitting down I guess that could stress the exterior of the phone.
Here are the pics:

I really do wonder if I can get it back for warranty now, since its rooted, since this is obviously a hardware problem rather than software.
There is only one way to find out. They might repair it for free if you ask nicely enough.
