And these are some of the important notes in user guide :
-When you insterts your smartphone which features NFC into the power pack , NFC is unavailable .
-While using the phone with power pack where signal strength is weak , you may experience decline signal strength of your phone .

My own opinion :
1 - pros :-
--Considerable increase in life time compared to increased size of the phone
and I see it in this way the best solution ,
First, size of phone isn't increased badly , and the shape and the style of the phone still great , perfect to hold and still have the looks ,
Also you don't have to get rid of your original battery as other solutions like ( buying 2400 mAh Battery which you'll have to through away the original battery , and stick to only new plus you have to change the back cover with ugly one except for the original 2000 mAh battery which also will not give you the same increase in battery life )
--adding 1300 mAh to 1650 mAh that is to say 2950 mAh is a grat deal but I don't think it 's calculated this way,
as it increases battery life from 40 to 45 % according to my experience . so lasts over the day with my kind of usage , I think it adds hour and half of ( screen on with highest brightness ) time , i.e heavy usage of hour and half to two ( according to my trials ) .
--it works as cover for your phone so really protects the camera ( I 've got a lot of scratches on the Camera, so I wanted something to cover it )
2 - cons :-
-- no support to Usb OTG , who know the configuration of the cable will know why it doesn't support that , as if it does , it will show a notification label " usb OTG connected all the time "
--no power button to shut it off when don't want to use it , although I see this is a useless feature , why I bought it in the first place to turn it off !
--long charging time , adding 4 hours to the original 4 to the battery that is 8 hours charging time , so be sure before you go to sleep to plug it in , or you will have to charge every piece apart ( to get only 4 hours ) . so as to save some time , although I see it normal , as it is not a single battery , it is two separate ones
so expect to spend long time charging it , but in terms of "worth it" , yeah , it gives you your charging time back
--no power cord included , you have to charge it with the one came with the phone .
3 -Additional '' to know stuff "
--tried it a couple of times , when phone is not fully charged i.e. 20% or more , and put the fully charged power pack it charge it up to 40 % or more . , so don't expect it to last much when phone is not charged , it 'll last the time the phone take it to get charged a hour or more by a little , not more .
--when phone is fully chagred thats when it lasts the most , because you only use it now (no power wasted on charging the original battery ) , so it lasts for me 4 - 8 hours according to my usage , and it is great feeling when you look to the phone after 4 hours of usage and still battery full
-- basic thing to get is , some theme or mod to remove the battery full notification , and may be the charging Icon too , I use JKay Deluxe framework for that . because if you going to fully charge it , the annoying battery full notification appears as if you pluggin' it to power cord .

How much the power pack extend the battery life in real life...?

It 's proportional according to usage
...I don't know what you mean by longer period of time but I used it alot ...
It add 40% (40- 45%) to the original battery as average ( act as a charger )
That's to say .. If you have your phone charged to 60 % then put the pack . The phone will be fully charged and the pack will be empty in hour or so the time needed for charge , but it allready gave its juice to the original battery.
According to usage as I said . If your battery usage lasts 10 hours . It will ad 4 to 5 extra ..
For me the power pack lasts ( hour and( 30 or 40 minutes ) )of continous usage ( Screen on , playing games surfing web and wifi on ) compared to 3 hours from the original battery when fully charged .
i.e. Now phone could last screen on up to 4.30 - 5 hours ..

OK,
Thank you on your answer, but can you decide (on/off) when will power pack start to charge the battery or it will been charged automaticaly when the level of juce goes down...?
One more question, does power pack fits the original new 2000 mah battery from samsung because the S2 is a les thinner with that one on it?
Better off getting 2000mah, see for yourself.
Heavy usage.
That's almost 4 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time, unplugged since 10 hours...and still have whopping 50%
It lasts me easy 2 days or more under mild usage and a total of 7 hours screen on time.
I can get through a day very easy and still have a lot of life left for the next day.
I recommend to everyone. Casing may be a problem as 2000mah adds a slight thickness, but I can assure you, case mate pop fits perfectly
Hope this helps someone, anyone and everyone

yes it starts automatically to chage , you can't decide that ..
I don't think it gonna fit perfectly except for the i9100 model by its original 1650 mAh , and as in pictures the power pack have the same curves for the back of the phone , and the 2000 mAh is little bit thicker I don't think it is going to fit it

What !!! that is way better !
7 hours !! how is that !! and 4 hours 30 ! thats great and still have 50 % ! oooh
was your 1650 mAh lasting 3 hours screen on time or my battery have some kindda problem !?
as if 1650 mAh lasts 3 hours so 2000 mAh shouldn't last 7 hours ! it is not that much bigger difference in power ! only 350 mAh increase in capacity gives over 120 % increase in power !!!!!
calculations don't say that ! galaxy note which have 2500 mah don't think will make it either to 7 hours !
the way I see it ( I don't know if it is right )
1650 mAh is less
2000 mAh is bigger
2500 mAh is much bigger
1650+1300 = 2950 mAh much bigger ! should last the most
what Rom you are using ? is it stock rooted gingerbread ?
I'm using ICS LP7 with Syiah kernal 3.2.1 and some other little modifications , I think I'am going to flash a stock gingerbread again to see how it lasts ! but I don't think it will be much !
about the thickness yeah the 2000 mAh I think is the best out there ! it's cover is better than the original in way of holding I guess and protects the camera too . and I don't see it considered as an increase ! it is just making the phone one cool brick .

Here you go guys, usually my battery life would go through to the next day, so that's charging every 2 nights. However, just for you guys..... I've been doing everything I possibly could to drain the battery alas....finally I can get to sleep lol, to show you what an official samsung 2000mah is capable of over 1650mah + power case. I expected less but am impressed with the output it provided even after forcefully trying to drain it. Have a look

Hey
You should check out my final result on my previous post... after a long wait of forcefully draining the battery just to show you guys.... still provided impressive results
My 1650mah would roughly be around 3 more or less hours depending at 50%, by 1% 5-6 hours screen on time.
Let me know what you think, I'll tell you my setup

WOooooo 8 hours !! Way too impressive
I think there is some kindda problem with my phone battery or the Rom or some app is drainning the battery .. Coz it lasts maximum 3 hours screen on from 100 to 1%
If the 1650 mAh lasts 5-6 Hours then adding up to extra three hours is pretty good deal .
I think I'm gonna flash a stock rom with no apps and see how it will last working
So , you 're using custom Rom ?

Yep, I use a custom rom made by a certain group called Hyperdriod. I've been running there roms since 2006 hd2 days. The rom itself is called hyperdroid androidmeda. I use redpill kernal which is also made by them. Regarding modems, I've found LPS to perform great and battery friendly too.
The best thing is, their rom is based off Samsung official stock rom, so everything is guaranteed working.
It has also been specially undervolted using magic config by gecko which also helps with the battery.
That's it really.
Props to all the developers for their hard work. Hyperdroid team are very hard working experienced bunch while maintaining their life. So you know you're gonna expect nothing but the best
here's the link to their rom:

Sorry for answering very late ,
But as I see from your talk
It 's not that much bigger difference , as both , the 2000 mh and the pack are official products from samsung . And from the specs I see the pack has more power ,
For me , I've tried few of custom ROMs , it always have bugs and Issues and need frequently regularly updated , so it 's annoying , compared to officialy stock every year or something it gets updated , plus you're talking about android 2.3.x which is not the last version although it offers better battery life , I prefer stock ICS 4.0.x Based ROMs anyways
Also , you 're talking about undervolting , which for me , very unstable ,and always the phone FC , and restarts a lot , and freezes and slows down ...
I didn't buy a 1.2 dual core to undervolt it to 800 or 1000
And iF it is granted working with no issues , I think samsung would do it in the first place .
So changing in configartion , is not fair in comparison .
From changing between ROMs , yeah , battery life changes dramaticaly , and with some extra apps like Facebook , twitter , skype , whatsapp , or some feeds or RSS ,that's to say with getting benfits of the phone , battery drains a lot quicker .
So it is fair to say the power pack add 40 - 45 % to the battery whatsoever ..
If it lasts 6 hours normaly so it will be 8 - 9 h
So if you want to compare , compare it to the original battery of yours , with same usage , not mine ,
And as you've said 5-6 h normaly to 8 ..it adds as the same or maybe less than the power pack .

As you like , You can charge by both ways .
But if it is charged through case it takes long time up to 6-8 hours
So Before going to sleep , leave it to be charged
Or when wanting to save time , charge the phone and the case separately simultaneously so to take up to 3-4 hours

I bought my yesterday, I am still testing it, hoping for some extra BATTERY juice for my stock ICS 4.0.3.
first test - 43 % phone charged - bit more of half actual power pack capacity 1300mAh
second test - 45 % phone charged - main difference I connected power pack immediately after its charge
I think that's it - no more power
My calculation is 1650 mAh + power pack approx 700mAh equal 2350mAh

Can I get a general idea of run time for use on a full charge running on latest EVO rom (3.0 ?). Trying to figure what's causing my horrible battery run time. I just got one of those non-oem battery with the blue label that says "FOR HT S620/DASH" . I charged it to a hundred percent and left it alone with 3 tasks running but the screen wasn't on. Came back 2-3 hours later the reading said it was 41% base on CeleTask. I didn't check the standard power management reading. So I'm not sure if it's CeleTask malfunctioning. Maybe EVO rom draining it or bad battery? Does the phone go into idle mode if you leave it alone and the screen black out or is it still functioning until you put it into lock mode(idle mode?). Any thoughts on the battery or other causes would be very helpful. Also Wifi wasn't on.
I have an 1100 mAh battery (supposedly), and the charge lasts around 3-4 days of light use.

What tasks did you have running?
I am getting about 3 hours of standby.... also when I have a full charge and I then turn on the media player or wifi I have about 15 minutes of battery before it shuts off. Then after it shuts off and I plug it in and repower it will say I have 35-45% ....really quirky. I was going to flash back to the earlier ROM and I still may but I seen that there will be a new ROM soon with better battery life
I bought one of those $2 replacement batteries from amazon two weeks ago. My original battery would take a huge dump (98% to dead) in the matter of 3 hours if I turned the wifi on for 5 minutes and then turned it back off.
With my new battery I end up with 82% by the end of the day with very very light use.
Light use on 3.00 + Battery cab.
I unplugged at around noon and it is now 12:38A.M.
and my battery is at 68%
I close apps when not in use and it updates weather every 60min Via edge.
With Moderate-heavy use(Texting, and opera) It will get about 10% by 1:30-2A.M.
Talk time is Decent though Went 2 hours and only lost about 10-15% .
\I have noticed a Concerable Drop in life after updating from 2.80 to 3.00
This is Also on the OEM 1100MAH battery(and I'm also using a little Much of a charger..so its screwed my battery)
Better battery life with a replacement
I'd replaced the original battery with an unofficial replacement, since the original was nearly dead (1 days). This one lasts about 3 days with the new EVO 3.0 ROM.
I haven't done any real measurements , but I feel like I have better battery life with respect to the previous versions.

fwood can you post a link to the battery you bought for the test

I gave the direct link of the product, but probably it expires when I abandoned the site! you have to find the product "S620" on search box
for me everything is fine I'm using the original battery, 3VO ROM with Arabic for WM6.5, many tasks opened most of time and the battery is just fine and hold for 2 or more days..
I see countless comments with people complaining about battery life not being good enough in most threads, and it being affected positively/negatively by updates.
I'm aware a lot of ROMs can have a very positive effect on battery life but I am more interested in the general overview – your battery life's life if you will! The reason I ask for your experiences is that I would like to qualitatively collect a bit of information from a fair few people and see what's to be seen.
It's worth noting that my latest HOX's battery life is exceptional and I believe it's down to a simple life/career change. It's really nothing new to someone who knows their fair share about batteries however I would be interested to compare.
So, list the times you wake up, take your phone off charge, put your phone back on charge, and go to sleep. If you can it would also be nice to know what your battery percentage is at certain points. It would also be interesting to know what hours you do on an average working week and in what sort of work environment (home/architect, office/marketing, shop/clothes retail etc).
If anyone can remember the things off the top of your head, even rough estimates just chuck then in the thread. I will then compare them all to my own personal habits.
Sent from my faster than SGS3 HOX.
Personally for me ICS was 4.0.4 was perfect, after update to JB it's really bad. On ICS i was loosing 1% of my battery during whole night on JB i can even loose 10% ; d. Overall battery drains faster during usage... all stock.
There's already a thread for battery stats.

Fantastic. I'm more interested in people's actual habits not stats about their battery because it only tells one half of the story. Like I mentioned this is more of a qualitative approach, so less battery stats.
I should of assumed that most people would be like more yourself so I will get straight to the point.
I have the benefit of working at home which means I can charge my phone whenever. I'm not forced to charge it over night; having it over charging for excessive amounts of time. I charge mine in the day and as a result I'm conscious when it hits 100% – I then unplug it. Other than natural degradation, I doubt I have ever damaged my battery in any way which has left me with a great battery life.
I was quite interested if most people charge their phones at night, go to sleep, unplug their phones when they wake up etc. This will severely accelerate the degradation of the battery.
well for me, ICS was bad...im using custom rom and various kernel to see which has the best battery life...all bad accept ncx 0.99....well some of the time its ok but some not...the battery percentage in ICS if not using will stay at 1% but for a 5 minute use, it will drop 10%...but amazingly, if you keep using in screen on, wifi or whatever, it will not drop that fast, well for me its ok....but now i have updated to JB still in stock, and the battery life is great.. i have watch HD movie using MX player in 2 hour and only drop 20%....when in ICS about 80%...big difference....i think stock kernel is best...
Well for me it's decent i mean yes it could be better but it's okay... heres my usage: i take it off the charge around 10 am when i wake up or so and it's off the charge till the next day morning with avarage 45-50% battery left and screan on time avarage 2:30 hours - 3 hours, sync with FB , hotmail and weather is On all the time as well is the wi-fi even when i sleep, my reception aint so great tho , around 2-3 bars top 4, 2g network, anyway my tops on the screan time would be around 6 hours with around 30% brightness idk how that guy managed to achive 6hours 20 mins on a single charge on medium brightness , could be jelly bean or maybe partitial charges ( i'm on ics btw ), anyway hox battery aint so bad as ppl may think, besides if you're lucky enough you'll get hox + battery into your hox ( 2100 ma ) which should provide avarage 6 hours + screan on time, tho i bet we could get around 8 with that battery. Hope this helps.
Ive got arhd and i got to say Im happy with my battery life, first I wasnt, when I went through a couple of charge cycles it got better and better. Now I can do 3.5 hours on screen time playing games and use it for atleast 24 hours with a mix of everything with watching videos to on the bus lol. So mines has been really good.
Battery has been pretty bad on any ROM. Now that I have ICJ421, my battery is near perfect. Yesterday I got 14h with 3h22m Screen On time.

Does anyone know of a better battery that will work with the zl.
As we all know this phone really suffers from poor battery life and overheating. I've managed to solve the overheating problem by flashing miui v5 and have it undervolted @ 987mv @ 1512mhz with doomkernel and kernel tuner, the phone is very cool now compared to before. However battery life is still dissappointing lasting only 10 hours a day dropping 10% every hour with light/moderate usage. Onscreen time it will die within 3 hours
So I wanna open it up and put a better battery so I can use a different rom cos miui is very restricted imo. xposed framework doesnt really work well with it.

Stock firmware gives me 4,5 hour screentime MINIMUM! So its NOT as we all know. It's your phone and your apps. Mine lasts a good day with more then moderate/light use. 13 hours with 75% left at the moment and 1 hour 10 min. screentime. Wifi always on. When out of house, 4G/LTE always on. NFC constantly on. So its you. Not your phone.
22,5 hour on single charge. 4,5 hour screen time. 8% left. I can't see your problem.

Yes you are correct, Im using paranoid rom and battery life has improved a lot. I also found that heavy undervolting uses more battery life. I'm new to android so didn't know this. What roms are you guys using exactly?
battery life
So? is there any after market battery?
heres my battery life, can someone help me?
I get around 15 hours with the stock rom. I switched to existenz but i havent tested it yet.
And i really want to change the bat.
If there was a way to put a LiPo 3000mah in this thing...
aliexpress.com
You can buy new battery for xperial ZL from aliexpress.com. Not many vendors though, but its pretty cheap.
I ordered mine and it reached from China to India safely in around 1 month. Seems good and genuine, but have not tried it yet. As others have said, it may not be a problem with the battery at all and changing battery wont do any good. Check if its really a battery problem or not.

i also ordered one from ebay it says made in japan now its working smooth and giving me extra 3-4 hours of battery life
after three years of extensive usage, my battery has now reached the end if its life. It now dies at around 30%- 40%. I tried battery calibration but it works only once. after a full 100-0% run, the next run dies at the same 30- 40% level. I have been monitoring voltage via ampere app. when it reaches 30- 40 % range, the voltage drops significantly from 3.5 to 3.2 and below and shut off abruptly. also, now during heavy usage, battery temp goes up to 50 C.
Does this mean the battery is completely worn out? or something else may also be bad?
anybody else with 2-3 years of use notice the same?
and if the battery is at fault here, can someone suggest me a link where can i buy one?

Same here, phone shuts down around 40% and whats worse is that the battery has deformed and pushed motherboard up causing a lot of problems. My ZL USB port short circuited blowing smoke and now won't boot up at all. Tested the battery and got voltage around 2.8V, which means safety triggers won't let me charge it
Hi,
I have the D855 modell 32 gig. I have tested so many diffrent roms, brokenos teslsa validus DU..and many more..
I allways had issues with battery drain. I fully charged the phone to 100. Then when im using it, it drops from 100 to 94 in just barley 20 minutes..and the things i do i just surf on Google then it keep drops..
And i have low brightness..no sync on, NFC of and also data and gps and Google play services.
I have tested diffrent kernels with diffrent govs..and now im using Project skynet and have battery mode on..but is the same bad battery..
Is my battery just broken? Because with this skynet mode people get around 6h of sot..i have 25 min of sot now and the battery is in 89..
Plz help Me..
You can install Better Battery Stats and check for any app/service draining your battery. Also if your bateery is around 2 years sold, it may be on its life end. You will get best battery life with a Stock/Stock based rom for sure.
Thx for the reply and tip.
I had my lg for A about 6 months now, so my battery should be good right?
Any other solution?
go buy another battery
Bro i think ur battery is not geniune ...buy from a authorized dealer only u will get good results also check ur charger sometimes the charger if not geniune doesnt give proper time...also check for rust in pins where battery is placed clean it small piece of paper grit
I have not seen anyone get 6hours out of this phone... If you have sync enabled and with standard usage ... I believe 4 to 4.5 was the max this phone could ever get with quad HD screen...

And sometime battery decrease from 2% in 1 second...
And an other question, today i've charge my phone but i see than the phone is charging fast ! I'm using the orginal charger from Asus.

The charger have Quick Charge ? And there is a way to disable this ? Fast charge kill the battery
Am I that person who gets +7h?
Yes, that charger is a fast charger. 18W so it's really fast. You can use QC3.0 chargers with this phone. Btw I've never heard that fast charging kills the battery, where'd you read it? I'm just asking. But using phone while charging kills the battery.
I couldn't find a setting to turn off qc.
About battery drain: did you play games? If yes, battery drain is normal but if not maybe they solve it with updates
Note: One + means you are using qc2.0, two + means that you're using qc3.0

Bro I am facing the exact same issue!! Even I was wondering that if I got a defective battery.
Initially on the first 2 days I wasn't even able to reach 4Hr SoT mark. But after update it seems to have "improved" a bit I'd say but not by a largr extent. Now I manage to get just about 4.5 to 5 Hours of SoT.
I still find it strange that how all the reviewers are able to get 6-7 hours of SoT even with their "heavy" usage for the review purposes and I am struggling to cross 5 hrs with just about moderate usage.
*Note- I use 2 sims and data (volte) is turned on most of the time on one sim, throughout the day. I also keep my location on and keep the brightness at auto settings.
If anyone else is facing the same issue and/or has a solution for this Please let us know!!
Thank you! Appreciate it!!
There is no way you can take 7+ hours SOT from Zenfone 5Z. With my Zenfone 5, i always get 5-5:10 hours SoT, IF i'm not listening to radio or Spotify too much. On a normal day, with data, sync, bt and stuff always enabled, i get 5 hours. One day that i was using it all day for youtube and netflix i almost got 6 hours, but never more than that.
I'm not complaining of course, 5 hours SoT out of a 3300mAh battery is good enough for me, but you'll propably never see 7 hours.
Hi !
I'm always getting max 4h SOT with normal use (FB, browser,..) no photos, music or video.. I'm on the last update. Don't know how others people can reach more than 6h .. Maybe a battery problem or me .. Let see if next update will increase battery life but for me not crazy.. Same as my S7E !

Like I said I was having the same issue. I was getting just about 4 Hrs of Screen-On time with very light usage, to the point that I thought that it was me who got a defective product and got in touch with the e-commerce seller (Flipkart from India) from which I made the purchase about getting it replaced. Following which the Technical support team told me to do the following..... Factory reset the phone. Then when you start up again, DO NOT back up the settings from previous phone, instead do SET UP AS NEW DEVICE. Then when you are done setting it up, you need to update all your pre-installed applications to the latest versions and also make sure that you have the latest system update running. Then you need to restart your device one last time before installing any other applications and continue with your regular usage.
I followed these steps and implemented them day before yesterday and it did actually improve my battery life from hardly 4 Hrs of Screen-On to exactly 7 Hours before my phone died (100-0) with my mixed slightly heavy usage with 4g data/wifi always on along with gaming, music streaming to speakers and a good amount of YouTube too.
Try the above stuff maybe it will solve your problem.
Hope this helps!! Peace

I have my schedule set to 10.30 pm -6 am but the phone still charges to a hundred within its usual time(an hour or so if i plug it in at 11pm). How exactly is it supposed to work?Does it just hold it at 100 then for the rest of the night? Just wanted some clarification if its even doing anything at all

For me night time drain is 4-5%. The duration is ~ 7 hours. Regarding battery backup I can confirm it will increase with time. Small advice is that dont let the battery fall below 40%. And dont charge south of 90%. I follow these steps.. I easily get 6 hours screen time with good 18-25% remaining. I use GPS in high accuracy. I have no complaints regarding battery.
Edit - if you have bought it new, then for the purpose of calibration you can drain it to 0 and charge it till 100 once. For me this worked. On the second day I did this and after that battery backup increased.
Night drain is approx 5% here.
Moreover I am getting 7 hours SOT on it
Btw I am using AI charging.

I use phone on Power saving mode (not super saving) You will not find any big difference in performance between normal and Power saving, I also Keep the phone on Auto Brightness . Since i got the phone i never used AI charging just for the info if it makes any difference .
Also I'm confident if i don't play PUBG or any other game daily, Phone can easiy go 9-10hrs even when it stays connected to Wifi all day .
Also I never charge my phone during night cause I've faced battery draining issues with my old android phones by doing that often (or even too many ) times .
