Hi everyone!
I joined these forums today. A have a great need for help. After succesfully rooting my One V, I have deleted some apps with titanium backup. While doing this, unfortunately, i have deleted a wrong one, which is i think is connected to the fm radio, because after i realized this fault of mine, i started the FM radio app, and I cant find any station, because it says turning on...
Is there a method to bring back the erased file for the radio. (I havent backed it up before the uninstall)
Another option is that you could restore from a nandroid backup in ClockworkMod Recovery. If you didn't do that, you'll have to restore your factory ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706070
After you re-root the phone, make sure that you do a nandroid backup in ClockworkMod Recovery. If your not sure how, follow the rooting link in my signature.

Assuming you're on stock ROM and CWM recovery is installed, flash the attached zip in recovery. If otherwise, let me know.
P.S. this should be in Q&A section

I just tried flashing the new wimax update and it went through and succeeded, but now my phone reboots after a minute or 2 once it's fully booted. If I'm in recovery mode it doesn't have that problem at all. I'm using baked 1.5.

Have you tried the standard "wipe cache and data, then reflash your ROM"?

I have re-flashed the wimax radio and wiped the dalvik/regular chache and did a factory reset.
did you wipe? that will solve most of your problems with out the need of a thread being made.

Did you try flashing an older version or a nandroid? If you are using clockwork make sure signature checking is turned on too, you could have a corrupted file.

I tried flashing an older version and that didn't work either. What is this thing about nandroid? How do I go about that?
Edit: I fixed it by restoring google proprietary stuff(forgot the name) and restored nand. Which one fixed it? I have no idea, but it basically restored me to factory 2.1, but with root access. Mods please lock/ delete this. It's in the wrong forum and I apologize. Thank you

A nandroid is a backup of your system you can make from the recovery, it's always a good idea to make one before you flash anything. I'm not sure if that covers your radios though.
Do you use titanium backup or anything? Without knowing how your phone is set up (what recovery you are using, etc) the only thing I can think of would be to flash the engineering bootloader. That should fix it but you would have to reinstall your ROM afterwards.

The nandroid restore worked because I had a backup I made while following the guide. I fixed it doing that, but while trying to update the radio to the current one again figuring if it messed up I can restore it and again the same problem came up, but this time nandroid restore wont work and it's telling me to use adb restore, but adb says your device is not found.
BTW all of my phones stuff come directly from the idiot proof guide(recovery etc)
bump... I'm sorry I'm sitting here with a semi broken phone. Is it possible to download someone else's nandroid back up and install it on mine? I know it will fix my problem as it already did, but for some reason now it's telling me to do it with adb, but my usb seems to not be working either.
Alright, I may have a brick on my hands but after playing with Android for two years I've found that's pretty tough to actually do so I'm still hopeful. Using Clockwork recovery, I did a factory reset and flashed the cm vision full 5 nightly build onto my G2/Vision. It gave me a boot loop so I went into hboot and tried to flash the PC10IMG. I'm getting a "Main version is older! Update fail!" message and have no idea what to do. Somehow I'm back to S-ON so I can't even try to flash a different update. If anyone has any ideas I will try anything. I love my phone and would hate to lose it three days after root happened.
I hate to be the one to say this, but didn't the thread say not to not to try it yet?

If you hate to say it and it doesn't help then why say it? And no it does not say that anywhere in the thread. Others have tried and had success.
You didn't make a nandroid backup?
No offense, but you said you've been playing with Android for 2 years. You should've known that the first rule is to backup what you already have!
Have you tried installing the stock ROM pre OTA in the "Downgrading ROM" thread?

I'm attempting it but adb won't copy my misc.img to my SD card, nor will it detect the miscnew.img I've made from someone else's misc.img.
Edit: Oh, and I WAS using the first release of the Clockwork mod for the G2 and I did not see a nandroid option there or I would have made a backup. I guess I shouldn't have tried it without a backup. Is there any way to use nandroid to flash someone else's backup?
What you need to do is mount your phone to your PC using Clockwork Recovery and copy over the misc files that way.
I had to downgrade to the stock rom myself and I used the misc files located in the below file.

I already downloaded those files, and copied miscnew onto my sd. But when I try the
"dd if=/sdcard/miscnew.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17" command it says the file does not exist. It doesn't work with the card mounted or unmounted.
If you can get into clockwork you should be OK. i think your mistake was doing a full factory reset rather than install CM and then wiping data and cache. go into clockwork and wipe everything.
Find the official pre-ota zip, go into hboot, and flash. if this fails, go into clockwork, wipe everything, then go into fastboot, flash the original recovery, then go into hboot and flash the pre-ota zip.
Otherwise, find the thread when people had problems flashing the OTA after removing goggles and use that method to reflash the pre-ota.
Hello all,
I'm sorry if my question was answered in this forum, but I wasn't able to find the answer to be 100% sure.
I used Rezo609's all in one utility, so I unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone and when doing this, the software made a backup of my phone (it's saved on the SD card).
I use Android 2.3.5. and now I'd like to try Android 4.0 on my WFS.
My question is, when it will not work for me (or I don't like it), can I restore the phone from that backup? I mean my 2.3.5, my apps, contacts, emails etc?
Thank you so much, and again I'm sorry if it was posted somewhere here

I don't know what backup it made coz i haven't used that utility ever.
But here's another way of being sure.
I suppose you have clockwork Recovery installed already, If you don't, download rom manager from market and do.
Boot into recovery.
>go to backup and restore and backup.
>It will take some time.
> Now in sd card, you'll see a folder named clockwork, save that folder somewhere in your pc cozz that is a lifesaver for you.
> Install whatever rom u want now.
> If you want to restore, just go to clockwork and restore.
Hope i helped.
Best way....... Download rom manager from the play store... Then select "Backup current rom" If backs up your rom.....
Thank you both guys!
The clockwork recovery is part of the utility so I have the backup done, that was the backup I was writing in my first post.
So right now I have to find the best 4.0 ROM

Hello there,
I googled a lot, I searched a lot here, but I did not find what I searched for.
I am thinking about testing the new Version of Cyanogenmod, the problem is that I in fact never did anything like this.
I want to set back the device to manufactures setting and then backup the original LG Software, so that I can go back to the standard before selling, or if CM isnt quite mine.
Anyone tips or links how to manage that?
Thank a lot before, sorry if this was asked before (I'm pretty shure), I couldn't find.

After rooting and unlocking, make sure you place the efs backup somewhere safe. You can also make a nandroid backup and restore it if you don't like cm. or you can use kdz updater to flash stock firmware.
I'm sure you looked all the places, except the FAQ
Okay, this sounds good to me.
Does any of the 3 Methods give me the same way of a full backup from the original software, or is there something else that has to be done?
I searched for the Faqs, but I couldn't find any?
Thanks a lot!

No, these are different things. EFS backup is to save your butt in case something happens with your IMEI. This is one of the most important things, don't overlook it! Nandroid backup is a "snapshot" of your existing ROM, including all your installed apps and their settings. This is the easiest way to get back to your previous ROM after experimenting with others. And KDZ is not a backup - it's a factory image that will return your phone to the exact same state as it was when brand new.

Look in @kimitza signature. It's his baby. :good:
the nandroid backup is like a restore image for windows. you will have all apps/settings from that time saved. here is a scenario:
1. On clean stock rom, root and unlock(unlock will also flash cwm recovery). Place FREEGEE folder somewhere safe.
2. Enter recovery mode and make a backup.
3. Flash any other rom ...and if you don't like it, restore the backup you made earlier.
4. Restore EFS with freegee.
5. Use Unroot from supersu.
6. Backup all your files(photo and other media to pc) then do a hard reset.
7. You will have a clean stock/official rom, like it came from factory.
All of this can be simplified by backing up your files and use kdz updater, followed by a hard reset. .It takes less time and it's safer.
I rooted it, but I dont have an hint of an idea how to do these efs backup?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38886073&postcount=1&nocache=1&z=7530246020855317
what is to do with that zip? I'm from germany and I have no clue what run in recovery mode should tell me. On the Phone or on the PC?
If unzipped, what is there to do?
As I want to use the cm installer with 10.2 stable, I just want to backup everything important..
Sorry, wrong link, i meant this of course, its allready rooted

Sorry for posting again, but honestly, I'm not allowed to post in the efs thread, so I cant do anything right now.
Im still waiting to flash it.
Anyone should do efs backup, so basicly people should be able to tell me how to do that or?
Please anyone!
When you unlock the bootloader with freegee, it automagically makes a backup of the EFS,amongst other things(like bootloader state, imei, partitions etc). It's enough to place that FREEGEE folder somewhere safe. If you ever run into troubles(like no IMEI shown or you just want to go back to stock without using KDZ updater),just restore with freegee. It will relock you bootloader and restore EFS(with imei).
Hello, I recently rooted my wifes Note 2 that was on the latest OTA 4.3. Was not easy BTW. I did a back up in recovery of boot, system, and data. I figured I was good to go and start trying out other roms.
The first one I flashed was Macks Allstar 5.0 rom. Everything was great. Then my wife informed me that she did not have all of her contacts backed up to google and some were only saved to her phone. So then I figure I could just restore the original backup and extract the contacts and be able to install them to any rom.
Thats when everything went wrong. Everytime I tried restoring the back up,it would crash and recovery would do like a reboot. After many attempts I figured id try another version of recovery. After flashing many earlier versions of twrp and trying to restore, I finally was able to complete a restore from version 2.6. I was ecstatic. But then my heart sank again when boot always hangs on samsung logo. And that is where I'm stuck. I am able to flash other roms no problem but cant restore my original backup.
Needless to say my wife is ready to kill me.
Please if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it. I have searched throughout this forum and internet for hours and can not seem to find any help with this issue.
I am thankful to have been able to get this far with the help from the XDA community posts I never needed direct help even with prior phone rootings but this one has got me stumped. Thanks in advance
You need to flash Phil's recovery version 6.0.7.9. If you cant restore your backup with Phil's then I'm thinking you might be sol. Make sure you know where you saved the backup to. It's either on the phone's internal sd or external sd card. Choose the correct location in Phil's recovery and if it isn't corrupt it should work. You may also want to copy your backup onto your pc just in case because that's your only backup and doing a full wipe or odin restore could permanently delete it. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I am at work right now and left the phone with my wife with a working rom. I will try phils recovery when I get home. As far as backups, I have two copies. One on my SD card and the other on PC but if they're both fried I guess that negates my efforts in redundancy. It's hard to believe the backup got corrupt so quickly. I have another backup of the 2nd rom I flashed and that one wont install as well.
Is there something I am doing wrong? If the backup file is corrupt, is there a way to extract contacts seperately out of backup?

Life of a married man. Haha!
Well, as my backup file was done with TWRP, I tried method B with TWRP recovery and it wont work so now I'm in the process of trying method A. Will update once I tried it.
I think my problem has to do with TWRP not playing friendly with 4.3 ROMS. If that is the case method A looks like it will work.:fingers-crossed:

That's exactly right. Bootloader isn't playing well with TWRP recovery. Phil"s 6.0.7.9 seems to be compatible in most ROM vs bootloader situations. Don't use latest version of Phil's recovery as it doesn't work as well and most people recommend this as well.
If Phil's recovery won't flash your restore then Odin all the way back to stock unrooted LK8 ROM then root it with the Toolkit and flash TWRP from the toolkit at the same time. Then see if you can restore at that point.
Looks like this project has come to an end. My wife likes her new rom and doesn't want to let me work on her phone anymore. She was able to get most of her contacts back I will make sure she backs her contacts to google and I will try to convince her to install Titanium backup to backup all her app data.
Unfortunately all I have is a work issued iphone that I have no interest in jailbreaking. I really don't see the point.
I am still confident that I could have eventually restored her backup successfully with the help here.
Thank you tx_dbx_tx and coletrain for your help.
