Docks for official flip case - Galaxy S III Accessories

Has anyone found a dock other than the official dock that you can use with the flip case, with the flap open so you can use the phone?

Well you can use the Zenis, front flap hangs down the side. It won't work with the flap tucked behind

Do any cases work with the docks?

I am planning to get a car dock and possibly a standard dock for my phone, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any cases that will work with the dock. I don't really want to have to take the case off every time I dock it.
I'm using the incipio feather case with the car dock. It works fine as long as you dont put the insert in the dock itself. You do have to press it down firmly when you put it in the dock to get the car home app to pop up. But it works just fine. I just got the dock yesterday and I LOVE IT. First car dock I've ever owned. Pretty sweet

That's good news about the Feather. I didn't order a car dock yet, but I'm considering one. I'm hoping to see more feedback on cases that work with the docks.
I wonder if anyone has tried a dock with the Body Glove Mirage?
I just picked up the Speck case. I may not keep it, depending on if it works with the car and/or the regular charge dock. Doesn't seem to work too well with the MM dock. The opening for the USB/HDMI ports doesn't seem to be quite big enough for them to seat properly. If the tolerances are as close with the other docks, I may shave off about a 1/2 mm so that I can get it to seat. Looks great, tho :/ I think what I'm looking for is something between the feather and the speck.
I picked up both the standard dock, the car dock and the body glove case. I love the case and it works great with the car dock if you take out the removable insert that I think they designed just for this purpose. The problem I'm having is the phone will not dock tightly enough with the standard dock. I may try the suggestion of shaving some of because I think that may fix it.
I'll post back with my shaving results.
Would love to know if someone found an easy to remove case that works with the standard dock
Body glove case works perfectly with the car dock. No issues here. Feels good on the phone and in hand. Highly recommended.

Incipio feather doesn't work with the standard desktop dock:-( but at least the case is easy to remove unlike the speck case...

Do you know if it works with the desktop dock or lapdock?
I now see the comment from marhodges above suggesting that it doesn't fit in the desktop dock.
Not sure. Only dock I have is the car dock.

I was not able to close the latch on the car dock with the body glove otherwise fits good. The otterbox commuter did not fit at all.

Mine closes perfectly fine. Did you use the plastic backing piece that came with it. Its only if you are using it without a case.

the latch will not close with a body glove case. otherwise, it fits like a glove.

Has anyone tried a TPU Gel case with the Atrix and have it installed on the HD Mutlimedia Dock or the Standard Dock?

Also using the Bodyglove case. The latch on the car-dock will not completely close. I've put calls into Motorola and ATT. No one seems to be able to point me in the direction of a case that would not interefere with the car-dock's latch.
One concern is that undue stress is put on the micro USB receptacle on the phone because the phone is not completely secured in the dock. Bumps in the road, acceleration / deceleration causes imperceptible back and fourth motion that would ultimately mess something up.
Motorola certainly made the doc for using cases on the phone, else they'd not have included the base "to use if your phone does not have a case".
One workaround, is to glue a horizontal pin (2-3 mm diameter) parallel to where the latch makes contact.
Does the Incipio Feather case work with the Lapdock? Thx.

I have both laptop dock, HD dock. Just purchased the 2 silicone cases from here in Canada from futureshop. its the only cases in stock before the phone was released today. when i got home I was praying that the laptop dock would work with the phone while the silicone case was on (taking it on and off is a pain) cannot post pics SORRY. confirming laptop dock works with silicone case on with a very easy removal of plastic part.
For the HD Dock it was a NO GO had to remove case.
EDIT: hd dock does have removeable clip aswell. Dont know how i didnt see that. Gel silicone case works with hd dock. Confirmed! !
hope this helps you guys that like the silicone cases like I do.
I've debated the LapDock myself. Even the HD Dock just for using my wireless USB Keyboard and Mouse. I have an Otterbox Defender though.
Far as the car dock and standard dock, I don't plan on getting those. I have shortcuts to use those apps without the docks. Have a hands free stand for the car that holds it perfectly with the case and modified my clip case for the Otterbox to use it as a stand as well and be able to plug the charging cable into it while it's in use.
In case anyone wonders what I had to mod the clip case, the Desk Dock clock does not rotate with the screen and to have it correct, the charging port on the phone is on the bottom of the case in the cradle. Otterbox does however include markings in the cradle to cut out for this though (very nice), just had to extend on side a tiny bit to accommodate the larger USB end so it fit snug without putting pressure on the port by pushing it sideways any.
I picked up a Lapdock today. I can confirm that the Lapdock does work with the Incipio Feather case (have to make sure that the two connectors are snugly fit into the Lapdock cradle (adapter/ fit plate removed). See here for details (PDF): Link.

official Samsung flip case

after looking for ages and ordering a Zeus carbon black flip which was so slippery in hand that wull br returning it, I went into my nearest O2 and found they had the official samsung leather flip case for only £14.99. Quality feel and has clever magnetic closer at the top which avoids those annoying flip type m agnet catches. It is thicker than the zeus but adds little in weight. If a flip case is your preference then I would say the official one at that price is bargain.

One thing I've wondered with these flip cases - does the magnetic part of the case interfere with the electronic compass or have they shielded it in some way?
Am debating about getting one...

It's not magnetic. There's just a hook that grips to the top of the phone.
May look out for one then. Thanks!
It is magnetic. The hook you're talking about holds the phone in the case and has a small metal plate on the front which the magnet in the flip down front cover attaches to.
And it makes no difference to the compass.

Smart Sleeve with magnet, auto on/off display

Hi,
is there any magnetic sleeve which will disable the screen if I insert my tablet.
I do not want something that holds the entire body of the tablet.
Usually they are called Smart Cover and require to put the tablet in a plastic housing.
I'd rather put my Nexus 7 inside a neoprene sleeve but don't want to miss the on/off functionality.
It currently even works if the tablet is placed on top of the Smart Cover. It will wake the tablet if it's moved away.
I hope someone knows what I'm looking for.
Maybe buy a sleeve with a 2nd pocket and but a magnet inside, will it work?
This is a good idea

Moko case mod for wireless charging

I went and did it - drilled a hole in my Moko case for the Nexus 4 charger to sit in. It works really well:
http://home.comcast.net/~tomhorsley/hardware/nexus7/casemod/casemod.html
Isn't there a magnet in there?
That's pretty impressive I'm waiting on my moko case same color and type

The magnet in the case is embedded near the bottom of the handstrap on the front cover - nowhere near the back of the case.
If you mean the charger, the Nexus 4 charger doesn't use magnets, it just relies on the ring of clingy plastic (which isn't always very clingy), so it sits much more reliably in the hole now.
I have a different wireless charger but the same case. The charger lays flat but charges through my case just fine... Bummer you how cut the hole.

Good mod. Its always going to be better to get the charger as close to the unit as possible. Even a few mm away the charge power begins to degrade.

stick the metal plate outside case (it usually has glue... if not you can but one with) so it will be in direct contact with the magnet, it will hold much better
Best ones are suction on the window side and magnet on the phone i glued the plate behind the case, just put your phone close to your window and voila
