Just curious, I have been searching all over the XDA right now, is there an easy one click exploit available for (4.1.B.0.431)? I had been using CM9 weeklies and just relocked my BL and did a SEUS upgrade, to try it out. I like it and I want to remain stock for a while but all the root options I found requires flashing new firmware etc. Flashtool's Root option doesn't work, presumably not up to date as far as (4.1.B.0.431) goes. So the question is, is there an easier option?
Questions go in the Q&A section.
Also, you are supposed to search before posting - if you did you'd find plenty of information about rooting 4.0.4.
I don't mind the administrative moving at all but don't assume I didn't search. I did search and I found NOTHING as to a "SuperOneClick" sort of option which was my main question. Geez, sometimes I don't even know when or if it is OK to post something on XDA when I have a question. I spent an hour searching. I rooted anyways. So to answer my own question. There is NO one click root option for 4.0.4, at least for arc.

There's an ENTIRE thread specifically for the LT15a firmware.
The root guide AND video is in the first page.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27060798#post27060798
As a matter of fact, I watched your video, not as same as I was looking for but works ...
Now having issues with V6 script because even though clearly I am running smanager as root, it says "you are not running this script as root"...
@Bushmaster78FS,
Have a look at rexstor's thread here. Before that, head over to the original V6 SuperCharger thread for ICS here. Download the fixed su binary (courtesy: wraithdu) and flash it in CWM.
If you don't have CWM, just download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market.
That should solve your Script Manager problems and will also help you avoid Segmentation Faults when you run the script.

1) Yes, you can root Generic World 4.0.4 (LT15i)
2) I'm not sure how you can miss the numerous threads on rooting for the SAME firmware.
Go here. And click on SEARCH THIS FORUM and knock yourself out.

can u teach me how?
xtacy where were you last night... LOL ... I figured it out but I was up until 4 AM. Anyways, I swapped the superuser app with the SuperSU app, that helped the root issue with the smanager. Then I discovered the odexed rom issue around midnight LOL! and followed instructions on the V6 thread. It works now, to be honest I am impressed how responsive stock rom is compared to CM9.

Hello,
Thanks to this topic : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045204
I've rooted my Arc successfully
But, since I've updated my Arc in 2.3.3 via Companion. My Arc is no more rooted !
Then my question is, can I root it again via this process : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045204
?
I'm noob, then please accept my apologies if my question seems stupid..
Thank you,
Benoit
No you can't root it using the method you linked - at the moment that only works up to and including 2.3.2.
However, you are in luck - you can follow this method posted a few days ago and which seems to be working for most (haven't tried it myself yet):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115542
Merci
Thank you fo your answer, however I've already seen your link. And this method seems a little bit difficult for me.
Do you know if there is a chance that an easy method will appear later ?

Who knows. We have to wait untill a new exploid hack is released. At the moment you can unlock your bootloader and flash a pre-rooted sys file or you can use the methode provided in the post up here.
Well, for now it doesn't seem like there is another option. But, the way things move around here, I'd expect there root to be available via another method at some point. However, I don't understand anything about how the devs do their magic (I just follow the instructions they provide) so unfortunately I can't speculate about how long it might be.
I have a locked bootloader so I don't know if I'll be able to use custom roms in the future (although I'm more than happy with root and 2.3.3). If you want to have a go at flashing the 2.3.2 firmware, rooting and then updating OTA to 2.3.3 then feel free to ask questions here and I or someone else will help you out (it isn't hard really).

Have you tried with the Zurgresh method? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582 It's very simple indeed.
P.S. Fasboot never bricked my phone and I have used it lot of times!
from what ive heard you cant root .62, .69 firmware or above, you need to downgrade or flash doomkernel which is prerooted
there is another method which involves flashing rootxperia.zip from cwm by booting binary's recovery, but i don't know it that will work
Even though I flashed my phone from instruction, I am new to the lock bootloader idea. Is it possible to use fastboot while the bootloader is locked?

You don't need Fastboot to use the script I posted and and your bootloader doesn't have to be unlocked.
Try the DooMLord Easy Rooting toolkit....google it...or search here in the forums....
Make sure you're not on the latest .62 or higher firmware, download doomlords zergrush one-click, follow the instructions in the thread for it. Simple.
Here, since you probably didn't search the forums properly first -_- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859
And for crying out loud you DO NOT need fastboot to root, or flash (stock) roms with flashtool!!
I'm getting really annoyed with ignorant people who spread false information. If you don't know what you're talking about, if you're new to xda and can barely do things yourself, don't try to give people advice!
I can't even count how many threads where we had to clear up false info about rooting, fastboot, flashing etc. because some new guy thought he was an expert and gave incorrect info to other new members.
Why do I care so much, and why bother ranting you may ask? It's simple, really. False information leads to mistakes that can leave a poor, unsuspecting newbie with a nice brick instead of a working phone.
Make sense? I should hope so. And for the love of God read the rules before you post! They clearly state to SEARCH the forums before posting, yet it seems nobody does. I'm pretty sure the forum tells you to read them when you sign up, and agree to the terms of use..

YOu can use flashtool, doesn't mean you will do some hardcore flashing.
The flashtool has the option to apply the zergrush method to root and is very easy to use. You can even install a more trustable busybox (1.19) for other rootie candies. (Even tought I update to 1.19.4)
But first thing I made when I bought is to unlock the bootloader, maybe don't work for you, but will NOT destroy your phone in case of failure.
Decided to root Xperia arc, but don't know where to start.
I searched the forum and saw many posts on how to root 4.0.2.a.0.62 2.3.4, but these root guides were for the Lt18. I have the LT15a and from what I understand, Lt15 and Lt18 guides are different and are not to be interchanged.
Can anybody point me to the right direction? Thanks for your time.

I'm in the same boat as the original poster and want to be able to root my LT15a and install latest ICS but have been googling round in circles coming across lots of dead links and confused by some of the material I've come across - you need to unlock the bootloader/ no you don't. You can't root version 62 / yes you can etc.
The second post above goes to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330314 but the thread is dead as are the links.
I have unlocked the bootloader but thats as far as I've got.
I've also downloaded
1) flashtool-0.8.0.0-windows.exe + flashtool-update-0.8.x-0.8.6.0-windows.exe and installed but not installed C:\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe as it contains 9 drivers and not sure which to use.
2) DooMLoRD_v1_Xperia-2011-ICS-ROOT-emu-busybox-su.zip
3) CWM-Install.rar
4) not managed to download an ICS image due to dead links or just not downloading.
There should be a straightforward guide somewhere.
Think I've found something here that allows install of official ICS (no mention of 4.0.2.a.0.62 just 2011 and 2012 Xperias) and then a follow up way of rooting. Digesting content but at the moment puzzled by statement that comes after ICS install "Its your wish if you want to stay on it but i suggest you to repair your phone software using SUS. It will reinstall the original ICS software in your mobile". This makes not sense to me i.e. why "repair" phone and why does it say, "It will reinstall the original ICS". The posting to use SUS 1(by 00rabh791) has "Here is how to backup firmwares..You need to reinstall the firmware". Possibly all makes sense once you go through the process but prefer to know exactly what I'm doing first.

Hello
I thank everyone who helped me make my Xperia Root, was difficult but with everyone's help I finally did, then, Thanks!
However I still remained a doubt, I think it's the last of them
My Xperia Arc and S used LT18i 4.0.2.a.0.62 Version (Without Root)
So I downloaded the version 4.0.2.a.0.42 and done using Root UnlockRoot, worked perfectly and now my phone is LT18i, With ROOT version 4.0.2.a.0.42
But I wish I could enjoy the latest version of Firmware (To keep my phone updated), it is possible to update it for newer versions and still keep the Root it? Or I would have to download the new firmware, unlock the bootloader and make the various processes Root?
If in case the answer is "Yes" it is possible to upgrade, what are the possible means? At PCC could update it without losing the Root?
Thank you!

Well you understand and write English well enough.
Flashing via PCC or SEUS will wipe your Phone, so the best way is to use the flashtool to flash a ICS ROM then use the Root kit to root.
As I'm a bit lost, I'll do a different kind of question
If I download the Firmware 4.1.B.0.431, I am able to do it with Root SuperOne Click or UnlockRoot? Or it would be necessary as well as the various processes .62 ftf?
@Edit
Ready! I think now I finally got
But wanted to know if we do not have any problem doing that ...
1-I downloaded the .42 version and did ftf Root (I do not know if it was unlocked BootLoader)
2-I did the update to version .62 ftf by phone
3-Ready, the phone is working and is also active with the Super Admin (Root)
4-With this process I have some problem with the phone?

2) that's not stock
3) if this is all that's available, i will use it, thank you for pointing me to it.
There is some threads about it that's first. Second you should even type in google or on xda here couple words before starts new thread. Third you should flash 108 kernel than use newroot and after that flash again 157 kernel. And that's all procedure
Happy flashing

People are baffled how others, especially People with around 500 posts can start such threads when the methods to root can be found in the General section, which have been there for weeks, and if you've not found a stock rooted ROM or as close as in the first few pages of both development threads that suits your needs then you're out of luck. Simply flash a stock ftf and root it if you want a clean as possible ROM, then mod it to your own needs.
