[Q] How to flash Asian device with stock European rom? - HTC Wildfire S

Hey
My uncle went back from Malaysia wih an HTC Wildfire S (A 510e with CID HTC_044) and asked me how to update it to european version (with french language), as i am an expert p) about android and stuff.
After few hours of searching and hacking, I've been able to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom rom (MHR).
Now I feel like there arealittle too many features there. He doesn't need to be root, for example, or reboot to recovery...
Is tere any way I could update the CID and flash an RUU? Every time I am trying a "fastboot oem writecid whatever" am getting an error. Zipped versions of the RUU are not flashable from CWM. When I want to flash the .img one by one, I get stuck at radio.img with "unexpected signature" errors.
Any idea ?

You may be able to do it with a goldcard or might have to flash from fastboot. Both methods are found here:
[GUIDE]How to update HTC Wildfire S/Marvel/A510e/GSM to Software Version 2.3.5
I have an Asian WFS and the goldcard didn't work for me. I ultimately had to flash from fastboot.

Thanks.
Goldcard doesn't work for me either.
I flashed boot.img and system.img, and it seems it is working well.

[Q] WFS (GSM) / Branded / RUU fails with "main version is older then..."

WFS (GSM), branded (Vodafone UK)
Locked, S-ON, hboot: 1.03.0000
Android 2.3.5
problem:
need to update a branded WFS (GSM) with S-ON with another stock rom belongs to another region
RUU was giving "main version older then..." error
since I couldnt manage to get S-OFFed and had no XTC-Clip, I tried other ways
solution (so far it works fine):
made/used a goldcard
updated hboot with RUU from htcdev, got ounlock token, unlocked the phone,
extracted rom.zip from my preferred RUU (which fails to update phone)
extracted .img files from zip
using fastboot flash <partition> <image file> from windows command line
flashed CMW 5.0.2.8 to recovery, made a backup of phone
flashed new boot and system images, wiped cache&dalvik cache
it is 2.3.3 and works nice till now
I still testing it, if it goes well, I will try to add links and more details
I am not an expert on subject, so any comments or info welcomed
like I didnt flashed hboot or radio or some other files inside rom.zip
can there be any side effects?

Question about firmware and relocking bootloader

I am using the AT&T HTC One M8. I am rooted with an unlocked bootloader and s-on. I need to change back to stock (from CM11) to upgrade to CM12 because my firmware is outdated. I cannot find a working way to do this on a Mac (my computer). The only ways I found were to run an RUU in wine and extract the rom.zip from there, flash a firmware.zip (relocking bootloader bricks my phone and gives it **UNLOCKED** and **SECURITY WARNING** flags), and using a stock nandroid (put it in /data/media/0/TWRP/Backups and it didn't show up under the restore menu). If anyone has a solution, please post it here. UPDATE: The reason I dont just s-off in CM11 is because sunshine says something about a debuggable ramdisk and flashing a stock rom. Also, right after posting this, I managed to get the rom.zip from the RUU file.

Firmware update when S-on?

I come from HTC One m7 world where it was possible to have S-on phone and still flash new firmware, as long as the CID was correct.
Now I have a M9 with CID Y_13 (and OS 1.40.401.8) using TWRP 2870 with ViperOne 2.3.1 rom. I found a firmware zip 2.10.401.1-Firmware.zip that is for Y_13 CID.
Can I flash it in either download or bootloader mode, at all? I have tried and so far get errors ERR ZIP ERROR CODE, 14 etc. I searched but didnt get a clear answer.
PS: I did make system image backup on my stock rom (1.40.401 something) but cannot find a stock recovery.. if taking official OTA is the only way to go.

Rooting without Revolutionary

Hi,
I want to increase my internal memory by using Link2SD, for which I need my phone rooted. I have spent 2 days already trying to figure this out, but I have made zero progress. I have tried everything I could google, but most guides refer to revolutionary.io website, which is down.
I found this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600904
Even though it's for Incredible, I though the steps would be similar, perhaps with different files. Anyway, I'm stuck on step one where I need to unlock bootloader using HTCdev.
fastboot oem get_identifier_token returns command error:
(bootloader) [ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY [ 0.010s]
finished. total time: 0.010s

I am sure I have all my drivers installed correctly, both adb and fastboot work just fine (both show device when connected).
From what I understand, it is because of my HBOOT version, right? I tried running different RUUs I could find, but it always ends up with an error - either model id error [130], or something saying my image is newer than the one I want to upload (maybe it's bootloader version error [140], I don't remember now).
How should I proceed now?
Thanks

It won't, because HTCDEV unlock is necessary for it. And we can't perform it because of the reasons explained in the first post.
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...-froyo-2-2-to-stock-2-1-t3187731/post62534573
installing pre-rooted update zip on S-ON - this method doesn't work, system goes to reboot on atempt to update

Hello guys! Will this method work with 2.2.2 and HBoot 0.93.0001? I was trying to find the downgrade utility to 2.1 so i could use unrevoked, but unfortunately all links are dead.
Hi! You can Root with unrevoked.com
then S-off with alpharev.nl
and then flash any firmware.
Or you can flash any RUU firmware, but you need downgrade your firmware version with this Tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24039156#post24039156
make sure: do not download and flash 2.3 firmware in step 2, download and flash for example RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2
Desire Bravo can you help me?
@Desire Bravo,
You can also root your Desire (After you get your bootloader unlocked, of course) with Super One Click, this will work if you press the "Root" button while the HTC logo is displayed.
Are you the author of this russian tutorial?
I need help with the "downgrade.zip" and the second "PB99IMG.zip" files, seems to be missing. On the other hand, I don't know when I should flash the first "PB99IMG.zip" file or how to overwrite the "misc" partition. Can you help me with this?
Thank you very much in advance. Best regards.
Hi! Yes i can help, what is your hboot version? write info from the bootloader (vol down + power)
Are you from usa? Downgrade your Firmware version nummer, then try flash RUU Telstra from http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...8.00.32U_5.11.05.14_release_150162_signed.exe
and unlock with htc dev
@Desire Bravo
Hello again Desire Bravo.
HBOOT 1.02.0001 Bootloader Locked. S-ON
Firmware version 2.3.3 Gingerbread signed 3.14.405.1
No, I'm from Spain (GSM Phone, not CDMA).
So I will use RUU WWE 2.29.405.5 firmware, but I don't know in which one of those steps I should flash the first PB99IMG.zip file (the modified "rom.zip"), neither how to overwrite the misc partition
Thank you very much in advance. Best regards.
Soooo Have you downgrade firmware version? if yes, you have version 1.15.405.3 and now you can flash "any" RUU an firmware. Try flash .exe (boot too bootloader and run Ruu 2.29.405.5 . exe ) http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
OR extract rom.zip rename to PB99IMG and flash with pB methode.
OR follow this guide and write 2.29.405.14 manuell http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550397
then run PB9920000_Bravo_Froyo_hboot_1.03.0003_R.exe

u cant just run "any" ruu otherwise why would there be so many? why not only one for each android version?
if his phone is branded, vodafone etc etc then a wwe ruu would not work, or atleast shouldnt, it would give id error. u should ask these questions first before telling people to run ruu's.
ok if you know more, tell but there isn't enough choice on the site htc dev.
At me too branded t-mobile desire, that to me didn't prevent to flash RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5 then to flash update OTA_2.29.405.14_ and then PB9920000_Bravo_Froyo_hboot_1.03.0003_R
I told as at me it turned out, at others it can not turn out, then it is necessary to try with other firmware therefore I also told "any"
I now will make experiment, it became interesting to me))
UPD: i have found simple way to update hboot 1.02 - to 1.03
I will write small tutorial soon
@Desire Bravo,
No, I didn't downgrade my firmware version yet, as I don't know when I have to flash the rom.zip file (renamed as PB99IMG.zip), that's what I'm asking to you.
On the other hand, I don't know how to overwrite the "misc" partition.
So, when I fully understand "how" and "when" to perform each one of those steps I will go ahead with the tutorial.
@jmcclue,
My original firmware was FR83G (Orange) Android Froyo, signed 2.29.405.14, I have found this firmware in a .tar.gz file but don't how to flash it as it's not a zip or a RUU file.
Can I decompress the .tar.gz and put its content in a .zip file? If it's not, please, can you tell me how to get a valid FR83G file?
Do you know how to overwrite the "misc" partition of the Desire?
Thank you very much in advance to both of you. Best regards.

htc m8 upgrade from custom (viper one 4.1.0) to stock 6.x.x?

my device is s-off, bootloader unlocked.
As i understand process, for me it should be like that.
Stock htc rom 5.0.1, flash original recovery with adb. and get OTA updates?
If it like that, can someone share i link for stock lollipop rom, the one i can flash from twrp?
and stock recovery from this version of rom?
All link seems dead that i found here in guides.
And also In some guides they say i need to lock bootloader to succesfully update firmware part when i upgrade from 5.x.x to 6.x.x is it true?
Post fastboot getvar all result (without serial & imei no.) to see your current firmware.
If it is GSM you can find stock backup here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Or maybe a RUU is available.
No.. you don't need to relock bootloader (especially for S-Off device)
was bored and found old 4.2.2 zip.
then reflashed recovery from that zip. OTA didnt worked so i downloaded RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.12.1540.4.exe from HTC site.
It did not flashed, different errors. Then i downloaded RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_4.16.401.10_Radio_1.25.214500021.06G_20.68.4196t.01_F_release_417003_signed
it flashed correctly. And tryed again with that ruu m60, stuck at eror 155, to i made fastboot oem relock. and all was fine after that.

If you were "bored" you should have spent your time providing the info that ckpv5 asked for, then we could have given you specific direction on what to flash.

You need to have the MID/CID for the US Developer's Edition to flash this. I wish folks would stop to determine what specific RUU to flash, instead of constantly trying this one. Just because the description on HTC's RUU websits says "Unlocked" does not mean it will work for any SIM unlocked M8. It also says "Develops" and you certainly don't have that version.
when i got answer it was too late already.
and this ruu was only available for download from htc website. and yes i only see now that there is US in this long name
and i flashed it somehow wo changing this things i only did what i said before.
