Light mod official firmware ICS for A101
Acer_AV041_A101_1.014.00_WW_GEN1-root.zip
It is flash through CWM or TWRP Recovery.
Changes:
Official bootloader removed
Updating to official recovery is disabled
Rooted - You must install Superuser. Do not renew busybox!
All the rest is left without changes.
thanks serves to A100?
Thank you for this. I am already rooted using your easy method, but I am sure this will be a lot of help to many others.

Thanks a lot for this, however, I'd rather try the actual leak file for now (not really bothered about my bootloader etc, which I unlocked but never got around to flashing a custom recovery).
I've found the original Russian forum, and the original leak file, but the instructions really aren't being translated very well by Google... There seem to be 4 update files in the archive, should they all be flashed, one after the other?
Path for the official A101 updating to ICS
Thanks to djinox of 4pda.ru. Original article is published on this site (russian).
Flashing through official recovery:
1. Download this archive. Unpack it. The archive contains 4 files numbered in the order of updating.
2. Rename update1.zip in update.zip and place it on the SD card. Flashing through official recovery.
3. To execute the 2nd point for update2.zip, update3.zip and update4.zip.
The firmware of ICS for A101 is received.
Thanks very much! And also thanks to djinox for the leak.
Wrong thread , sorry.
Can we please get something like this for the A100?
Hi I tried using the steps below to flash, no luck going to ICS.
Anything i might be doing wrong, i change each of the 4 files to update.zip and flashed it one by one, rebooting after each flash.

I had that initially. The actual ICS ROM is in update4.zip. You MUST do each one in turn. If you don't get the update, you did it wrong.
Thanks for the replies, I manage to get the update to ICS using CWM method, and almost bricking it, because I was on HC.
But all is good now. Thanks again
Any new ICS leaks
Hi, I am just curious if there will be any custom ICS roms for the A101 in the near future, or more leaks
Thank you

So, if you like using headphones with your A101, stay on HC.
Asking for ROM Bugs

or is best to upgrade to CyanogenMod ?
Thanks a lot Folk's
Hummm it's seem the link from LG do not provide JellyBean but ICS

Yeah, you are better off rooting, installing CWM, then flashing a ROM from there. Even if you want to use LG's official ICS, you may as well use the flashable version by HO!NO! instead of the official release, since you will retain CWM and root that way.
Ok I will install CM10 Trough CWM, so before install CWM it's not require to root the phone ?

You must root first.

As long as you are still on stock Gingerbread that is fine. If you update to official ICS you must go through the unbricking guide (to the best of my knowledge at least).

here are the specs of both devices:

Everything relating cpu, memory, display size etc seems the same.
For as far I've seen the only differences are : bluetooth version, LTE and android version.
I think in the worst case you will just keep having the bootloop, or you won't be able to use LTE and/or bluetooth the way it should..
Either way, I don't take any responsibility's on me, but if it were me I would try it.

try the 2 official one at the bottom of the post, the complete bottom.
There is an official one for both sku versions.
If you would expect any raw to work, it would be the official from asus, no?
If you get one of these two to work, quickly make nandroid backup and then you can continu to flash the one you want, perhaps via official update or so

Hello,I'm using the China Unicom (CHU) version i9082 with Android 4.1.2,and I want to upgrade it to 5.0

maybe not possible
Has anyone found a way to do that? Seems like China Unicom is the only supplier that didn't update to 4.2.2.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Would it be possible to install cyanogenmod for i9082 over 4.1.2? Any alternative custom rom out there that works with 4.1.2?
Alright, after ~10 hours of learning how to smartphone, root, flash, and deal with broken guides I managed to install cyanogenmod on my i9082 china unicom. The main problem being, if you found your way to here you'll probably know already, is that that stupid carrier doesn't update to 4.2.2, making it painful to install customRoms, especially CM
.
I'll probably forget some steps so sorry in advance, I'll give my best so you don't have to go through the **** I did.
The problem with this whole community is that your filehosters 404 all the time. It's a pity about the work and time you invested in your guides.
- (I didn't backup any data but you probably want to. Use Kies for that now. I think CWM can do that as well). Installing Kies is a good idea anyway, because IIRC it installs the proper USB driver for your phone.
- Follow Step 1 here, install CWM (CWM-touch_i9082_chotu.tar). This guide in general will be your second home for now. I used Odin 3.9 instead, but I doubt it matters.
- Step 2, the link to superSU 404s. Use this one (UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip) instead.
- In the next step ("Installing Cyanogenmod [...]") download cm-10.1-20131101-UNOFFICIAL-i9082.zip from the provided link. Download gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip from the other link. You can probably risk getting a newer gapp, but it seems to be risky.
I had the same problem OP talked about here. Phone stuck on loading screen. That's because we didn't read the last line in the guide: Wipe the data in CWM. After I did that, Cyanogenmod worked (there's also some discussion about using the proper gapp zip).
Hope this helped someone. I sure would have appreciated finding a guide that still works (which this mostly does, contrary to way too many others out there).
short version in case the guide goes down: install usb drivers, download cwm recovery, download odin, turn off phone, turn it on by holding power+home+volume down, press volume up, connect phone via usb, open odin, select cwm recovery where it says 'AP' or 'PDA' in odin, press start. Download recover file, supersu file, cm 10.1, gapp. Put all 4 on your sd card in the downloads folder (in root folder you wont see the files). Turn off phone, turn it on with volume up+home+power, install from sd card -> recover, then supersu. restart phone. Enter CWM again, this time install from sd card -> cm, then gapp. restart again. It might be stuck on loading screen, if so enter cwm again and select wipe data/factory reset. Cross your fingers and it should work. If not, I'm sorry.

Flash this in stock recovery through dload method:

Then you need the stock 801W rom, extract the update.app and flash it through dload. Then it should work and flash back to stock.
Thank you but your file has only 21kb is this right?
When i put the file in the dload directorie and boot with power + vol up + down the installer is verifying something installs it to 36% and aborts again. =(

Okey for those who did the same **** like me:
First download http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=74723&version=273368&siteCode=tw
Than downgrade to this version.
Now you can update to the corect 801-w Android 6.0 version.
Me too install wrong update I have MediaPad M2 801-L, But i downloaded 6.0 the M2-801Wxxx version and got a MediaPad M2 801-W after install update.zip. Updater in the os has no Local setting to select the update.zip. I try downgrade to 5.1.1 M2-801Wxxx version by three buttons, flash stock recovery. But on choose language button "next" not working. Continue try install different stock flash...
Sorry about my bad english....
Just what I needed.
You literally saved my tablet. I had the exact issues (stupidly installed the 801L Marshmallow update on my 801W, which resulted in the non stop rebooting every 5 minutes). Nothing was working and no other roms were being accepted until I came across your post. I made this account just to thank you! The tablet was brand new and was lying boxed and unused for 3 years, so thought I'd use it
Just in the unlikely event anybody else faces this problem, just wanna add one clarification to Isipisi281's original post; to get the first step interim update to happen, make sure you unzip the update file first, then find the update.app file and paste that and it's accompanying folder into the dload folder in your directory, or else the update will fail. The rest is clockwork.
And PS, the M2 runs amazingly after the marshmallow update. Noticeably smoother, snappier and even more frugal with added android features. Highly recommended.
Thanks again!
