I am running agats FE22_v 0.1.1 Rom+ FE22_Repack Kernel and loving it, but would like the camera beep to be completely silenced. Is there a way?
Got to system/media/audio/UI and delete the files that have the word camera
But back them up first

You'll also have to edit the apk file to delete the sounds they imbedded because of the law.
Search around and you'll find camera's already premodified for you and save some time.
download ICS Camera from the market it is identical to your current camera and has the option to turn off sounds
Thanks will give suggs a try.

I picked up the E4GT today and it is great. But whenever I snap a picture, the shutter sound goes off. Is there a way to turn it off?

You will have to root your phone to do that. They have taken the sound out on custom Rome it great

Oh alright. I was gonna root it tomorrow because I didn't wanna root it the first day I got it. But do you have to flash another ROM for it to go away?

pritty much because its baked into the camera apk and its a real pita to remove it otherwise
I think so or you have to know what file to take out of the rom to make it work. If I was you I would try out some of the roms there great. Calk rom is very fast and has great battery life too u should try it just remember to a nand backup of the stock so you can go right back to it if you don't like the other roms

Alright I'll root my phone when I get home
Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G Touch using XDA Premium
Specifically you have to replace the camera.apk (and its support file) with one that's been repackaged without the shutter sound. Also remove a few other .ogg files from the phone. If you search the forum for "shutter sound" you'll find the appropriate instructions. This was what finally got me to root.
You can actually just download one of the silentcamera apps that will kill the shutter but still leave the little beep. But you want completely silent then you have to root and us the development here on the board.
Hang on, I got this buddy.
Go Here
1: Download the camera.apk (rename it to Camera.apk after unzipping).
2: Move it to /system (should everwrite the stock camera).
3: Change permissions to match all other /system/app permissions
4: Reboot
Also, make sure to delete the shutter and video sounds in /system/media/ui - the instructions in the thread will give you all this info too.
Happy shooting!
Can't you just remove the ogg sound file in /system/media/ui?

No problem. Glad to help!
This rom has been working very well for me so I don't want to mess around with another rom but I'm really looking to add these 3 mods if possible:
1. turn off all camera noises
2. Sprint Hot spot with 3g/4g
3. Battery % in status bar.
Anyway to do this on stock rooted EL29?
Its all in the development section. Do people not like to read nowadays?
Go here for the hotspot..

And here for the other stuff. PS if you do this one it includes the hotspot so no need for the first link.

Just make sure you read this post as there were issues with stock rooted and the AIO mod until sfhub came up with a fix the other day.

Do either of you guys happen to have this file for the camera mod? It isn't included in the all in one .zip. dev-host.org/42wusjh4stgt/EL29ModifiedCamera-Odexed.zip

You flash it separately. I had it but took it off once I realized using the volume keys to snap pics killed off my zooming in and out. If anybody knows another way to zoom in with this modified camera please let me know. I definitely would like a physical button for snapping pics but not at the loss of another option..

Pinch to zoom in and out when using modified camera. Hope it helps.

I'm using tj Johnson's f18 build with kuban latest kernel. I need a silent camera apk. The one that comes with rom is silent except focusing sound. Have replaced it with several other apks from other roms and fixed permissions and rebooted but they stay on black screen and fc. Any suggestions?

why not use a file browser w/ root acces and rename/delete the camera sounds?
I have reached a point where I have fully accepted Ice Cream Sandwich. The only thing that I miss is the ability to long press on my volume rocker to go to the next or previous track. I often carry my phone in my pocket with music playing and it was so great to be able to change the song with out ever taking my phone out of my pocket.
I had a Calkulin zip file that I could flash via recovery to enable this feature but it was for EL29. Is this possible for stock FI03 ROM running AGAT_0.5.4 Kernal?
Make a backup , flash it and see if anything happens lol
If you brick I'm not responsible.lol

I have actually tried that and it went into a boot loop. The zip file contains an android.policy.jar file located in system/framework folder. Maybe I should provide a link to the zip file and someone could compare it with the ICS jar file.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
If it's just a policy edit it shouldn't be terribly hard to port it, however I haven't taken a look at it yet. I'll try to check it out tomorrow if no one else does.

Should work on all 4.0+ aosp ROMs. Just delete/rename gallary2.apk in system/apps then install the apk like normal
I'm posting this because I'm running it right now with zero issues on thddudes beanstalk rom
This isn't actually a leak is it. Its just the camera from the Google edition s4 isn't it?

But when it uses 25% of your battery overnight there should be something wrong. I tried it myself. Photosphere is not worth the no deep sleep new feature, lol.

I tried this running CM 10.1 and it seemed a little laggy for a while. Also, the quick settings did not match up. i.e. I would try and select one scene mode and it would actually pick another. If it was more stable I would use it. I prefer this new quick settings menu over the radial menu
Works well on stock Rom too. I also have problems with settings not matching up.

Meh... It's ok. I still prefer the MIUI camera, even if I don't have front camera support with it. IMHO, it's better than CameraZoom as well.

I am on AOKP and this only half works. It does do photosphere, but it only does 1 picture then it is fuzzy thereafter and the video is horrible and not usable. Does anyone have a .zip to flash back to stock camera and gallery? blah. i did a backup before but it was a a couple weeks ago and I am just not getting around to trying the camera.

Your best luck is to flash the ROM again without resetting data (no wipe)

This works great. It's how I restored my camera
meh
4.3 camera works fine on LG Optimus G F180k. I now have two Camera apps and two Galleries. The only flaw I encountered so far is the picture size. It only goes 8MP maxed and my camera supports 13MP so I only use it for PhotoSphere. The PhotoSphere works well, so far, haven't tried it outdoors yet. The new gallery app is a step up from the stock I had.
I froze the stock gallery and use the gallery app that came with the 4.3 camera. I didn't freeze or uninstalled the stock camera. I'll probably use'em both.
My theory here, maybe this works well with my phone because it first came out on Nexus 4, which is also a LG device and Optimus G and Nexus 4 almost have the same hardware with just a lil' variations like the camera. (N4 with 8mp while LGOG with 13mp, some models have 8mp too just like the N4)
and another thing, the 4.3 camera creates another directory inside DCIM folder. So the two cameras have two different folders inside DCIM.

Would you mind sharing the miui camera that you are using. I've tried pulling the apk files from miui ROMs but I always get a FC. It would make my miui v5 that much more complete.

Thanks. Have you ever gotten the video camera to shoot in full 720p? Not something I use much of, just wondering.
What I'm really wanting to get my hands on now after seeing some previews, is the new focal camera from CM.
