Since i cannot post in the arconium thread lets open a new one here.
Long story short:
Phone: Xperia Arc LT15i
1) Updated it to 4.0.2.A.0.42 using PC companion
2) Rooted with ZergRush
3) Unlocked bootloader without losing DRM (with testpoint cable)
4) Installed CWM recovery
5) Copied arconium (update-arconium-7.2.zip) to the sdcard.
6) Rebooted my phone and started CWM
7) Did a wipe data/factory reset
8) Used install zip from sdcard to install arconium.
9) The installation finished, when started the phone it gets stuck in the sony-ericsson logo forever (i waited 30 mins before removing the battery).
Since i couldn't even load the CWM anymore then i put the phone into flashing mode and restored the stock firmware and i am back to step 1
What i did wrong? There is another method to install this ROM?
I *think* you forgot to flash the kernel.

Well, i though that arconium came with a stock kernel since the doomkernel/stockplus are labelled as reccomended (and not as requirement).
I will root my phone again and try to install both arconium+doomkernel before rebooting the phone.
Lets hope that nothing else is missing.
edit:
Well, i installed DoomKerneL and used its recovery mode to install arconium from there and it worked. Thank you for the hint, didn't seemed obvious at first.
OK, I Know I did a very stupid thing but I flashed the Nordik Version of the Official ICS Rom for Arc S on My Arc.
Now The problem is when it was flashing, the flash stopped at a certain point. Here is the message
14/002/2012 20:02:24 - INFO - Flashing userdata.sin
14/002/2012 20:02:24 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted

But then After I Rebooted, It showed the sony logo for a second and then some logo of the mobile with a caution symbol (Yellow Exclamatory Mark). And thats it, after a couple of seconds, it switched off.
I repeated the process and the same thing.
Scared Then I Flashed a Doom Kernel and did a factory reset. While the factory reset, it said that it could not open \data :|
i tried formating data many times but it could not mount it saying different file system.
So I flashed a matching Custom ROM and It does not work, Nether is any app installing nor any file getting saved
Please Help!
And Anyway to solve the /userdata filesystem problem?
If flashtool stopped then try re-downloading the file in case it was corrupt, and try to re-flash. If that's not successful download a stock 2.3.4. ftf and flash that.
FTF Wasnt corrupt :\
Now I Have tried flashing the 2.3.4 Android aswell BB 48
A Very old one which I downloaded around december time to root my Arc.
That doesnt even go past the SE Logo
The Custom ROM atleast booted.
My Guess is that the userdata partition has a different filesystem than the one it can read :\
Think it's to do with flashtool being unable to handle ICS data parameters. Binary has posted some type of workaround till he updates it.
Ok, Will check them out.
Thanks!
In his post?
think so, it's mentioned in the thread.
Nope
It stops while flashing the system.sin file
Anyway to solve the /userdata filesystem problem?
Not yet, apparently. I use cm9 so don't really know, though I think there's a cwm flashable ics stock.
sinkster©
No Use of that
Try connecting in fastboot, and use the erase or format commands, e.g. 'fastboot erase boot' or erase system, in case it's a system partition issue
Then try a kernel and rom.

OK, Apparently the problem was that I was using an old version of the flashtool (0.5.8)
I downloaded the latest 0.6.9.1 and followed the 3 step flasshing process

I have tried various kernels and various roms all are giving the same issue.
I can install the ROM but cannot boot it gets stuck at booting screen. I have formatted the partition's via fastboot and by using the CWM still the issue persists. Please help.
Flash the stock firmware ftf file, then try again, or flash a different kernel.

Hi guys , Please help me as I have tried multiple kernels and roma all of them exhibit same issue,
Booting to CWM using the CWM inbuilt into the kernel takes a long time as well as once a rom is installed via CWM it completes installation and then comes to the boot screen and it sits at the boooting screena and does not get past it.
How are we gonna help if you don't state ROM and kernel and what exactly you did.

I have installed lupus v 16 kernel , with xperia ultimate hd rom and xperia blue rom both are having same issue.I can boot to cwm and install the rom but after you give reboot after the rom installation it just sits at the boot animation screen .
One thing I noticed is that booting to cwm takes almost a minute after turning on the phone , is this normal ?.

I just bought my Arc S a few weeks ago and I Flashed it with MIUI by placing the zip file in the root of my SD card and booting my phone in CWM Recovery mode from there I selected "install zip from sdcard", I choose the MIUI zip and then I rebooted but the problem is it just got stuck on the Sony logo.
I have tried every possible key combination every possibel way and none of the them did anything to my phone, flash mode didn't work and neither did recovery, that means that hard resete won't be an option.
I previously had ICS 4.0.4 with an old kenel, it was rooted and it had CWM, everyhting was going fine until I tried to install MIUI..
I didn't made any previows backups.
Is there any way I can recover my phone to it's factory defaults or do I realy need to lie to sony saying that it stopped working after an official update, because it still has woranty.
Please help, I just bought it I don't want to lose it so fast :crying:
Thanks for reading and sorry if I wrote anything wrong, English isn't my native language
Hi ! Try to go in the recovery, Do : Factory reset, wipe cache. After that, go in "Advanced" => Wipe Dalvik Cache & Battery Stats (Optional) and then, flash again. And make sure your kernel is for MIUI and not Stock Kernel. Sorry for bad english too.
And if he's still stuck on boot logo, download the .ftf files (4.0.4) for Arc S and flash it with Flashtool. (Phone in flashmode, to do that you need ; Remove battery, wait 10 sec, put it, press the back button and connect your ArcS to your PC)

Thanks for the reply but I said that recovery didn't work, I've tried Vol. Down while powering on my phone, pressing both the left and the righ buttons, Vol. Up, Home+Back+Vol Up... But nothing does anything, it's stuck at the sony spash screen..
go to repair with pcc or seus
pc comagnon
sony ericsson update service
or
flashtool and a stock rom 4.0.4

Hm.. If you have Recovery, you should be able to go in.. Push vol - a lot.. I mean like : *push* *push* *push* when you powering your phone.. Or try the flash mode. Download this file , FlashTool (Drivers for Fastboot mode / Flash Mode included).
Install Flashtool, install flash mode drivers (C:\Flashtool\Drivers)
Place the .ftf file in C:\Flashtool\firmwares and follow these step :
1. Remove your battery
2. Wait ~10 sec
3. Put the battery back
4. Launch Flashtool
5. Click on the lightning, select Flashmode
6. Select the .ftf
7. Wait until flashtool ask you to connect your phone
8. Push back button & Connect your phone on your PC. (Keep it push'd for 3-4sec)
If you have "Flash Aborted" try again. (Cause the drivers aren't installed yet )
And if you have used x-parts for install CWM, no more Recovery after update/flash phone.
relax, that was one of the challenge when using custom rom.
all problem seems solved with flash tool
download here: flashtool, get it on "instalation" folder
download the firmware (tft): firmware
follow the step provided by WrathChild08 here
Alright, thanks for all your replys,
Pushing repeatedly the Vol Down button didn't work, I'm going to try the flashtool method.
I'll report back later, thanks again
THANK YOOOUUUU SO MUCH!!
It worked!!!
I used tried flashtool, flashed it with a firmware I had and boom, it worked!
Thanks you :laugh::laugh:
Enjoy your new xperia arc S !

Hey guys,
I was flashing CM9 Nightly onto my xperia arc and it just got stuck at loading with the CM9 guy and the blue matrix animation screen?
I followed this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdxtOMS4jr0
I did flashed it fresh from rooting and unlocking bootloader since this is my first time doing this.
I started with flashing an older android version, then I rooted it and OTA update to later version (maintaining root)...then i unlocked bootloader and followed the tutorial i posted above. All was well until it rebooted.
Any help appreciated, thanks.
Try to wipe your phone in Clockworkmod Recovery and delete everything. Then.. Install CM9 again.
Don't forget to flash the Cyanogenmod kernel also through flashtool..
Have you tried flashing a stock .ftf file using Flashtool?
Have you wiped everything? No. Have you flashed FXP kernel? No, you have locked bootloader xD
Hey guys, I fixed it.
I took my battery out, rebooted and went to the CM9 menu (press volume down button a few times while on xperia free screen)...then I reinstalled the zip file and before rebooting again; I wiped out cache and factory reset (they are options below the reboot option). It rebooted and started up fine.
hello there my names kyle and im new here but you can call me sangy, anyway i have joined the site to post this
i have had my play now for 6 months and i want ics and a new kernel, i heard lupus was the best one so i flashed lupus using fastboot and the correct rom. i have followed all steps correctly and the dam thing just boot loops after 1 min of booting unless i have my usb in my pc at which point the phone will stay on like it should without a single bootloop. so with a potentially bricked phone i flashed the stock firmware back v4.0.2.A.0.58 and re flashed a different kernel and rom still the same issue so i flashed back to stock again. if anyone can tell me how to solve this weird ass issue i will rate you +1 because im getting sick of having no cwm and incompatibilities with apps and i want to overclock
ps im planning on flashing doomkernel v14 hope this problem is gone but i know it will have the same issue.
my phones current state is this
xperia play r800i
stock kernel(2.6.32.9-perf) [email protected]#1
FW 4.0.2.A.0.58
baseband 64
android 2.3.4 ginger bread with root and unlocked boot loader
thats everything i know thanks for reading and helping in advance
edit: sorry if im not been precise but by boot loop i mean hot boot where the phone will run fine for 3 min then freeze and reboot on its own until i pull the battery or plug in usb in pc upon hard reset it even does this in kernel boot up

which lupus kernel, ics+gb v7 or lupus ics beta v12. have you tried flashing through flashtool because it always works for me and which ics rom as their are tons.
hello thanks for the quick reply
ive tryed the lupus ics+gb kernel latest version with the ics beta rom for xperia play and ive also tryed the lupus gb kernel latest version
and yes i have flash tool and all the drivers but a nice reccomendation on what to flash next based on my phones spec at the moment would be nice
also why am i the only person on the internet with this problem? ive heard of having 60+ apps on the sd to cuase hot booting but for me this is just out of the ordinare, particulary when ive whiped all the phone and flashed a new kernel.

With Lupus kernel, use R800i_4.0.2.A.0.79 firmware
will be flashing that stock firmware now over my other one then put lupus gb+ics over the stock kernel
will let you know if it goes well and fixes this
unfortunatly it did not fix it rom loads up, gets to the regular sony setup then freezes and hot boots. did this with lupus kernel ics+gb and the 4.0.A.0.79 firmware you linked me to. its either the kernel or my phone
just tryed doomkernel v14 with your FW kernel still crashes and reboots, is there something i have to do in flashtool because
every kernel ive flashed yet has the same issue.
note i can get a catlog app whilst it is plugged in then unplug it and wait for the crash and send it to you and you can see where its going wrong with the kernel and tell me what to do
thanks for reading these updates and sorry its taking this long to find and fix a big bug :good:

Did you tried any other ics/gb rom? Wipe your system/data from recovery before installing (and by installing i mean install from recovery with "install zip from sdcard")
Ps: maybe its stupid question, but is your sdcard full??? How much free space on it?
what recovery? this is an xperia play they dont have a recovery on stock kernels thats why im flashing one and no my sd card is not full
literally after i flash the kernal and boot up it will freeze and hot boot. the rom doesent factor in this. ive tryed 4 kernels so far the one that comes with cyanogen mod 9 and the 3 mentioned above
would flashtool logs be helpful if so tell me how to record them to a clipboard and you can see whats going on during the flash

For Lupus kernel - when powering on, keep pressing volume down for clockworkmod recovery or volume up for TWRP recovery.
Flash ROM from recovery that match kernel. Lupus ICS/GB V7 is for ics/gb roms based on stock (Sony) roms. Read in ROM's thread which kernel is recommended
With flashtool you can only flash .img files and in Xperia Play case, that is ONLY ics beta rom (but almoust all kernels come in .img format - so Flashtool is used to flash kernel). From recovery you can flash every other rom that you can find (just make sure that kernel match rom or else you'll get kernel bootloop)
ok this will be crystal clear
i can flash the kernal but even when booting the kernal and going into recovery to even flash a rom it will freeze and hot boot
meaning i did everything correctly with flashtool to do the kernel and with just the kernel installed (no rom) it still freezes and hot boots
as soon as i can stop these kernels from freezing i can flash whatever ics or gb there is in recovery
note: what are your settings for your flashtool as i might be missing a setting also the info from flashtool says at startup to disable MTP for 2011 devices, would this be my problem?

what kernel are you trying to flash? Be specific!
What rom are you trying to flash?
Disconnect phone from PC after you flashed your rom (any one, first boot must be done while disconnected)
the kernel i would like mostly is the lupus kernel
i can flash every kernel no problems, its the fact that the kernel crashes etc i can also flash the correct rom using flashtool the same thing happens
the case im trying to make is that you first install the kernel then flash your rom in recovery then the extras like wifi modules to the kernel
the kernel (dosent matter which one i try for my device ) has the hot boot issue happen to it no matter what i do before i even have a chance to install the rom(again the correct rom stock or not).
and yes i know you have to wait for boot ups on new roms and kernels, this isnt the first time i have flashed roms as i have a galaxy tab 2 running cm10 for the most part.
again thanks for the quick replys but i think this will require more technical solutions or debugging with my phone or software.

did these exact instructions but the new xparts dosent work so luckily the community had the older version that works,
followed everything buy the book installed cwm using xparts after root went into recovery, wipe data factory reset, wipe cache partition and i even wiped the dalvik cache, flashed the lupus ics+gb kernel booted into the custom lupus recovery (scrolled through the menu a minute) then as expected kernel crash followed by hot boot
any other ideas?

Try pressing volume up when powering on to enter twrp recovery
