Many questions unanswered - HTC One X

How do you change input method once dloading a new keyboard
I GOT IT CHANGED IN SETTINGS BUT SEEMS CHANGING.IT FROM THE SECOND PART IN THE TEXT BOX BY LONG PRESS DOESNT WORK ON...HOX
INFACT NEITHER DOES YH

Yeah - they've implemented a clumsy way of changing the keyboard on the HOX.
Long press has no effect - however when typing if you look at the notification bar at top of screen you will see a keyboard symbol - change the keyboard this way 'instead - it says something like 'select input method' on the drop down

Im not seeing it typing see no symbol to change input method
Is it possible in settings i changed something for it to appear

[Q] HW Keyboard Shortcuts gone on CM7

Hey guys,
Tried searching for this several times with no luck and this (bug?) annoys the crap out of me.
Has anyone noticed that the hardware keyboard shortcuts no longer work with CM7?
That is to say:
[menu + a] = select all
[menu + c] = copy
[menu + v] = paste
Anybody know of a solution or workaround?
Thanks
Are these shortcuts also set in the cyanogenmod settings? It may be a bug of the version you are on, try rolling back one or two versions.
I've been on several of the CM7 nightlys (currently on RC4) and none of them have these shortcuts configured. They were working out of the box on stock rom, CM6 and MIUI.
As far as i Know these are standard shortcuts that have always "just worked" without having to set them up anywhere.
As detailed in this thread under the section "Keyboard Tips":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8596886&postcount=1
Nobody?
Is my question posted in the wrong section or am I the only one facing this issue?
In any text box while using the hardware keyboard:
Is anyone able to select all text using the shortcut "menu + a"
or copy text using "menu + c"

Yep
Except that in some cases the menu stills pops up when doing that, which kills the selection
+1
I thought I was crazy. Maybe there's two of us crazies, then. With CM7, I just can't Select All with the hardware keyboard. My conclusion is that since Gingerbread hasn't hit any keyboard-toting phones, there may be something missing from the code.

Me (LG GW620 owner) and my friend (HTC G2 owner) faced this problem, so we googled it and stumbled upon this thread.
We both have the same problem regarding the select all thing. Not touching the text box with the touch screen and using Menu+A does nothing. Touching the text box and then using Menu+A selects and deselects.
I guess we can confirm that this is not a G2-specific problem, since it also happens on a LG GW620 using the Open Eve ROM (CM7-based), and a G2 using CM7.

Good and Unique features thread!

There is a swype like option in the default HTC keyboard settings by enabling tracing. Can even change colour of the tracer.
The HTC note application is able to sync to evernote server.
Able to grp sms on sense ics
Please continue to add to this thread to be useful.
Thanks!
- turn off fastboot at settings/power uncheck it and reboot.
- turn off 3 fingers swipe at display
apparently these solved most of the screen glitches problem with camera and browser.
Most people may know this but I will put my part in. You can change colour of lock ring based on which scene you choose. Ands there's a pointless feature where when you touch or drag something there's a circle cursor on screen... Can be found in settings - developer options

Its not pointless. I assume its main purpose is to allow you to monitor how accurate the display is in regards to your touches (in fact I can see that my typing is slightly to the left of each button) and I know many use it to show video demos (I.e. they use it to show where they touched the screen... watch an angry birds tutorial and you'll see what I mean)

Beats Enhancer:
settings/sound/enhancer/ top left corner for 4 diff "sound enhancements" or "earphone type" options
been lurking for a while and registered to add this...
As well as the taking photos while videoing, you can take (extract) photos while playing back the video. Had a dig in the manual - couldn't find this mentioned.

go to personalize and than the second entry in the list (i dont know what its called in english) there you have 6 different "scenes" and in some of them, the lock ring color(is it color or colour?) is changed
US - color
all the other countries - colour
Here is a cool feature that I found out the other day. I'm not sure if its new or not though.
If you use google voice and recieve text messages via google voice. The HTC messaging client will bring those texts in and unify all your texts in one area. If you continue the conversation it uses the google voice number in that message.
There is an app on the phone which is called in Dutch "Laat zien" which had a lot of info about features of the One X.
I guess its called something like show me in english

I found a unique feature where if you take your phone out in front of iphone users, they look at their device in despair and start crying!!!
Found this and might be of use..
Did you know you can use the icon that pops up when you click a volume key?

Anyone planning on modding the new HTC Keyboard?

There was a pretty good sense keyboard mod when I used my Desire, wondering if anyone plans on giving the new HTC keyboard a work-over?
Yea like totally getting rid off the stupid arrows wtf with that

Somebody posted a version in the themes/apps forum, but it didn't work correctly. I believe he was holding off updating until he got his device this week so he could test it personally. Certainly hope someone figures this out. Love the keyboard, absolutely hate the arrows. I can't understand why they didn't make that a configurable options.
Arrows where there with the hd2 and the desire hd, when I got the sensation I was like wtf no arrows?! So to me there a welcome readdition.
And as I typed that message I realised there not there anymore...wtf

Get the SwiftKey Beta. The best keyboard that I've ever used.

Annoying keyboard
I too got annoyed with the arrows and lack of space between the letters in HTC keyboard. So moved to stock Gingerbread keyboard.
However that is leading me to another funny and strange annoyance in browser address bar. I have fat fingers... and now I can never edit the last letter of URL in the browser address bar. The last letter always is very close to the close (x) button of the address bar, and if I try to put curser there it deletes everything :-(

If I recall correctly (haven't used GB in a while), you can touch anywhere in the bar then drag the cursor to the end.

Remove arrows

Hello
Just got the phone. How can you remove them annoying arrows at the bottom of the keyboard?

Setings>Language and keyboards
They're useful though.
Edit - perhaps you can't remove them, I thought you could.
You should use Swiftkey X anyway

Keyboard Notification

Hi All
I got the update yesterday.
The problem I have is that the "Choose input method" notification appears whenever I use the keyboard.
I've installed other keyboards, gone through the process of selecting the keyboard and the notification will still not go away.
Has anyone else had this problem, if so, can you help?
Thanks guys
Whenever you type, a keyboard option appears in your notification? This is how JB handles changing keyboards. It's normal.
I also have this - but I only have the stock keyboard, is there anyway to remove it?
Cheers

Not that I'm aware of. Surely a keyboard icon in the notification bar doesn't annoy you? haha.
ICS used a menu shortcut, JB uses the notification. Weird choice I think.. but looks like it's here to stay.
It really does bug me lol. Can't see why you'd want a notification in the corner, asking you if you'd like to change your keyboard - just seems daft lol. Oh well looks like I'll have to cope with it lol.
Cheers
