I am having issues with data installing ics roms after flashing to page plus. I wnat to try to install ics before flashing to see if that fixes the data issue. Does anyone know how to get the evo to connect to cdma workshop and qpst to change carrier settings while on a ics rom? (since you can't put the phone in diag mode)
Not possible. What a so hard about flashing a sense rom....?
Sent from my HTC Evo 4G using XDA
Its easy to flash the phone on a sense from. My issue is after I flash the phone I get 3g data but when I install a different rom I only get 1x

Now i know theres hundreds of threads about 3G problems and im hoping this one doesnt get over looked . I recently in stalled two custom roms on my evo ( cyanogen 7.0.0 , and miui 1.1.25 ) wiped chaches factory resets etc. on first installations but for some reason my 3G is not being recognized or even showing up when i am using the custom roms. The only way i can use 3G is when i restore my phone back to my stock rom..... can anyone help me fixing the issue ....please. if i can get my 3G up and working while im running my custom roms it will make everything so much easier, instead of having to restore my stock rom when ever i want to do anything on my phone outside a wireless network
oh and kernals etc. are stocks that came with the roms.no customization has been done to the roms themselves.
has nothing to do with the kernels
you have to get msl reader and set your 3g up i think there is a thread in the developer section on it...let me see if i can find it
OK HERE IS THE FIX,
PHONE MUST BE ROOTED
PHONE MUST HAVE SENSE ROM ON IT TO FIX THE PROBLEM
download msl reader from market,
open msl reader,
write down msl code
open dialer
dial ##3282#
when asked for code or password enter the msl code you wrote down
select edit mode
select EVDO
select preferred mode,
set to automatic.
save exit reboot,
load rom of choice
and VIOLA YOU HAVE 3G
CHEERS AND GOOD LUCK
Well for CM7, are you sure you data is enabled? Sometimes tis off when you boot the rom. You can check in mobile data under wifi settings.
while that is true roxxors, since the OP stated two different roms giving him trouble and not having trouble with original load, the problem lies in how the roms read 3g...we all know that sprint roms LIE about 3g...and cyanogen actually reads actual signal...however until that EVDO change is done his phone will never get 3g on any of the cyanogen or miui or even aosp roms....
Is there a way to install a prl in zip format through recovery?
I installed ICS ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544181 Its a great rom but I now have an outdated PRL file. Which means I'm now stuck in 1x land. I miss my 3G!
The ## codes do not work on this rom so QPST & CDMA are not an option. I am trying to find any way to update my PRL without needing to connect my EVO to my pc.
1. My 1st thought was an app that would update the prl. (But I can't find the one I had on my old GB ROM)
2. Flashable zip file containing the prl so I can install in recovery.
If anyone has an idea please let me know. BTW I have the latest PRL on my SD.
I found what I thought was a solution here.
http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/09/ho...tc-evo-4g.html
Its tedious but it worked for me. 3G goodness. (Or so I thought)
Basically downgrade to Sense rom, install PRL with QPST, then NANdroid back.
Now I am trying every prl I can find and my BIG issue is now if I use a prl that has 3G it wont use 1x at all. (If outside 3G range.) I end up w/ no data at all when it doesn't say 3G. leaving it on a prl that uses 1x I always have data, albeit slow.
FYI, I do not have 3G only checked on settings on QPST. Please someone offer me a route to take so I can have my 3G & 1x!
Had this same question and resorted to the above referenced method of going back to a version that can goto diag mode, like 4.67 and flash prl there and then flash back.
Okay so let me explain my dilemma. I have a flashed evo 4g with a custom recovery and custom rom.
Since I don't have windows XP for the correct drivers or a boost phone to use so I called this store that does it.
They said they can do it on a custom rom but things like MMS wont work and I'll never have 4g. Which I know the 4g doesn't work on most custom roms thats okay.
He said it would have MMS if I just put my phone back to stock. But I wont be able to flash a custom ROM again because it will erase their patch and I wont have boost anymore because it will erase the phone.
Why is that? If I do it myself is MMS available? And if I do it myself would I erase the boost switch when changing roms? I don't see how it could if your just switching the routing address per say to the phones.
All you have to do is change the APN settings to boosts gateway for MMS to work, needs to be done for every rom flash. The calls, SMS and data settings will stick between flashes. The wipes required to flash a rom don't affect the partition those settings reside in

how do I change the APN setting? And should I switch back to stock before I have them change it?
I just got a Note 2 SPH-L900 (Sprint) it has a bad ESN for sprint but my intention was to flash it to cricket. I had noticed the same thing before the flash over to Cricket (I was messing with it over wifi etc and I did flash cm10.2 nightly just for the heck of it, then back to stock) but I could not verify service since I am not a Sprint customer. However the issue seems to not be carrier-specific.
When I flash custom ROMs I do not have service. No call, no data, nothing but wifi. The signal bar is empty and I get a big "?" Where the carrier is supposed to be. Also under "status" there is many blank spaces, no phone number, no carrier etc. Upon factory restore (which was done 2 or 3 times to ensure a bad ROM flash was not the culprit) the service icons and settings come back as before and everything works well.
I have tried two separate ROMs that give me the same issue: cyanogenmod 10.2 nightly
Rootbox jelly bean
Anyone know what may be wrong? I do not think this has to do anything with the flash over to cricket, since before it was doing the same thing. Any setting/procedure that I may be missing?
Edit: I did not do anything with kernels. My stock ROM android version is the 4.1.2

Well, i got it working now!!! i did reflash the modem to the latest MC2 version, then installed a custom kernel, Sleshepics the governor 1.7.
Then i reflashed the CM10.2 nightly and i magically have signal and data working.
SO EXCITED!
trying to flash my galaxy note ii sph-l900.. need help
i went to a couple of places and they said it couldnt be done.. it has low signal ... it only works on certain areas..
need help
Well it all depends on your signal. I live in Austin TX and cricket has great service here, with some dead spots out in the country (no big deal). 3g speeds are as fast as Sprint's 4g LTE.
The problem I was having had to do when I was flashing custom ROMs I was lising service.
I updated the modem drivers. It did the trick. I havent list service since and ive flashed like 6 ROMs so far.

I have a friend that updated his T999 to Android 4.3, after that some problems with wi-fi have appeared. The phone automatically connects and disconnects to the routers, and he has missed several things for that. I am a newbie and no developer but I have flashed many custom roms in some devices and I tend to favor CM and Slim Roms. My question is, if I flash a custom rom in the phone, will the wi-fi problems be gone? He doesn't want to try custom roms because he will lose all of his apps although I told him that he doesn't have to worry. Also, I know this is a stupid question but if I flash a custom rom, will he lose his network connectivity/ability to make calls? Most of the roms I have flashed have been in tablets and cdma phones but this is my first one and his phone isn't locked to T-mobile, he uses a different network because his T999 is unlocked. Sorry for my bad english
He won't lose network connectivity, but first make sure that auto network switch is deselected in WiFi settings and see if that fixes the problem

You could back up the apps to ext SD card. Then do a factory reset. Sometimes settings get messed with and A factory reset will put the settings back to stock. But if that don't work you will have to do a reset anyways to flash a custom rom. A custom rom could help... You shouldn't have any connect ability issues with a flashed rom I have used pac man, CM, beanstalk, custom stockers and always had wifi data and network. If you do your homework on the rom you want to use in the forum here you will know what will and will not work. And can see what people are having issues with and what they do to fix each problem.
