I have read through various posts but cant seem to have a clear idea of whether there is any way one can " unbrand" their HTC One X- is there any way?
I guess if there is not then one cannot flash an unbranded RUU onto their rooted S on,unlocked, branded HTC one X?!
No can do without S-OFF I'm afraid
thanks

Hi Guys!
I have one short question. Today I received my new One X, on power on the phone I saw that this pohone has a vodafone branding. That's not nice and not really acceptable for me.
Now my question:
Is it possible simply flash it with the original hTc Europe RUU (RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_ 1.1204.71.08_release_249238_signed.exe) to get an unbranded phone? Or is it not possible to flash it without unlocking the bootloader? I won't flash any custom ROM.

Without S-OFF it can't be done at present - you'd have to go custom to remove the branding
Whatever you do, make sure you download the RUU for your phone now (Vodafone DE) so you can always go back if needed
Thank mate for that fast answer.

And, did the flah work, or...
Having the same issue with a Vodaphone branded OneX
Apologies if this is a simple question - but there are so many conflicting posts here it's not entirely clear.
I have a Vodafone UK branded One X and I'd like to debrand it to run completely standard stock firmware from HTC, with OTA updates if at all possible (but RUU wouldn't be the end of the world).
From what I've read - you need to change the CID to a generic HTC_xxx code in order to receive the OTA updates. All good this far.
What I'm a little confused about is which action allows you to change the CID. Most posts point to S-OFF being set on the boot loader as a requirement - but I'm not clear on if unlocking via HTCdev.com will allow you to change the CID? There are some posts saying the HTCdev method is the official method of getting S-OFF, implying it will give you S-OFF (albeit with the warranty concerns). Other posts say that S-OFF is not possible until someone finds a vulnerability in the current bootloader.
If anyone could clarify I'd be very grateful (might even help a few duplicate threads being posted). Thanks.
The HTC Dev website does *not* allow S-Off (Security) because it allows access to radio and more risky things that increase likelihood of a bricked phone. There is no current S-Off method out, people are looking at it and trying to find a way to do it but nothing yet. To change CID, unlock your phone for free etc you need S-Off.
Hope that helps.
spot on, thanks very much.
I too have a One X branded by Vodafone UK.
I do want to root my phone which from what i can tell is still doable with s-on.
From what i am reading in this thread, it is currently NOT possible to replace the Vodafone branded ROM with the generic HTC Stock ROM for the One X?

Has all the answers. Going back to stock ruu is discussed throughout but mostly near end of thread.

Well, you can replace it with a generic ROM but it has to be the same base-version as what your phone has
ie right now us vodafone users are on 1.26 so we can only use 1.26 ROM's
We can't use any 1.28 until vodafone updates that.
I have flashed the 1.26 RUU (no more branding \o/ and tbf it actually behaves better )
will mull over it - thanks
Stupid vodafone branding

If you have managed to flash the standard HTC ROM for the One X as 1.26 then you should be able to apply the 1.28 patch that is available elsewhere on the forum (the official one, not the translated chinese one!)
Hey guys. Quick question if anyone can help me.
A friend has a HTC One X from Three UK which he has had carrier unlocked by Three UK themselves. I want to know if I would be able to flash the stock Rom onto this device to debrand it, without having to S-Off.
His CID is H3G__001. I initially assumed he would not be able to without S-Off, but I thought I would check my old HTC Hero which was originally on Three UK and then unlocked in the same manner.
The Hero I managed to debrand by flashing a stock RUU, but the CID on that device is also H3G__001. So I'm thinking, if the CID ends with __001, does that mean a stock RUU can be flashed?
Do any of you know what the CID is for a locked Three UK device?
My friend is looking to sell his HTC One X and I'll only buy it if I can debrand it and have it running the stock firmware.
Currently using a Desire HD and iPhone 4, but getting sick and tired of waiting for the upcoming ICS update. If HTC had said the DHD is not being update, then I would have just got the One X..!
My locked three branded phone has the same CID - I don't beleive you will be able to install a stock ruu on this phone without changing the CID.

You can still put a stock rom on the phone by going down the htc dev route but you can't use an RUU.
Hi,
I have an HTC One X, rooted and running CyanogenMod11. I am now trying to unlock it from the network. I have the code from 3 but it doesn't work!
I've read about the XTC Clip and been looking in to it, but it seems to use an SD card. The HTC One X doesn't have an SD card! Does anyone know if the Clip works on the HTC One X and has anyone been successful using it?
Thanks
If I'm not wrong you can't unlock it with custom rom, needs to be complete stock. I unlocked network from T-Mobile UK and worked fine before unlocking/rooting. You could contact http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk and see if they can unlock it for you if u can't do it yourself. I used them to s-off my hox. They are legit and fast.

I was hoping for some clarification. I have a htc one m7 801s that is telstra branded. 3.62.841.1. I have rooted and gained s-off with firewater, installed rom manager and twrp. Now what i would like to do is put my vodafone sim in and have the phone Vodafone branded or unbranded. With my current setup is it a simple matter of downloading say 3.62.401.1 (international unbranded) from gurureset and installing from twrp?
Please no hating on me, i am a noob and just don't want to stuff the phone up. Any help on the process from where i'm at, to get to unbranded or vodafone branded would be great.

Upon further reading, i think i may need t change my cid to the corresponding ruu i want, and possibly flash the appropriate hboot. Then proceed to use the ruu exe or put the zip on the phone and flash with twrp?
