Computer won't recognize phone!

I know this may be a beaten topic, but I think my case is special.
I lost my usb cable so I borrowed my brothers.
He has an HTC Desire Z, and he can do adb and all that stuff just fine with his HTC USB cable.
I tried to install the USB drivers for my phone onto my laptop, but when I used the cable, my computer won't even recognize that hardware is plugged in. There is no "device not recognized" or stuff like that. It doesn't even register there is a device attached. I tried adb devices and it doesn't list it.
I was installing PDAnet and it got to the part where it waited for me to plug in the phone, which I did, into practically every single USB port, but the computer won't register that a device has been plugged in.
Yes, I have debugging on. Yes, I can charge my galaxy nexus with that cable.
What gives? Do I actually have to use a Samsung specific USB cable?
I have an HTC cable from my Evo 4G, that worked on that device, my G2, and my Galaxy Nexus for charging, ADB, Fastboot, everything.
Sounds like a driver issue, download the latest galaxy nexus drivers from the Samsung website
I think it was this from a while ago..

The link above doesn't work. Does anyone have a link for a canadian/us website? I went here:
http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/d...9250M&srchword=Galaxy Nexus™ | GT-I9250TSMBMC
But i couldn't find where the link driver was anywhere.
EDIT: Downloaded and installed Samsung Kies, but when I plugged in my phone, it still didn't pop up a thing saying a device has been found T.T

I know you‘re on Windows 8 but I think the drivers should work fine

Computer won't recognize phone after Kies uninstall

In searching for a better way to share files between my phone, my tablet, and my computer, I downloaded and installed Kies, only to find out it wasn't what I wanted and uninstalled it again. Unfortunately, now I can't get my computer to recognize my phone when I connect the USB cable. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the samsung drivers, but it still won't recognize it, so now I'm at a loss for what went wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
PS; I'm using Win 7 x64
try unistalling and then reinstalling the samsung usb drivers

its recpgnizable on laptop and not in pc?
Well, different PCs can act differently to different hardware, software, drivers, etc.
Just curious... what PC you have (Specs)... and if you have installed Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology)? This Intel RST is a real piece of crap that is supposed to help boost your SSD and other drives (though mostly for RAID)... but seems too many people have headaches with it. I just built a new PC with these drivers that came with my motherboard... and it gave me a bunch of problems with my Note2 being detected (even with Samsung USB drivers installed). Finally I got rid of it, and presto, everything fine again.

usb connection not recognized by PC

I just got a AT&T note 5 2nd hand and it is using N920AUCU1AOGG firmware.
When I plug it to my computer, my computer didnt recognized it even I had installed SmartSwitch or Kies.
Similar Odin could not recognize it
When I plug my Note 5 from Verizon, my computer have no problem with it.
I tried on 2 computer (Windows 10 / Windows 7) with same results. You can see the F.W version from my attachments
Can someone advise?
