I am curious about the status bar. Is there a way to move it to the top like my Droid X? Also on notifications, when i receive a email , download, etc., notification, is there a way of dismissing them other than touching and openi g to dismiss them. For instance like my Droid with the red x next to each notification?
Please advise.
Thanks Much!
On ics youcan swipe them to clear them or press the little x

Iam on ics,, but I don't see a little x, I'll try swiping it.
Thanks
The little x is on the lower right corner of the notification tray after you touch the clock area once to open it.
I see it now, it gets rid of everything. I did not see it before. I am used to my DX.
Thanks Much

Hi, is there a way to get bigger voice mail notification on the screen?
I only get a very small icon on the left top notification bar that is very similar to the email notification. I looked everywhere on the phone settings but i got nothing.
Coming from the HCT sensation where you get a huge notification on the diplay this is just annoying....
Thanks in advance
I have known none. Maybe Samsung does not have it.
Someone would have to code it into the system. Other then that the android on the s2 is stock with touchwiz added, which means only small icons in the top for alerts.
"Missed It!" widget. make it as big as you like.

It should be in framework-res.apk then change the PNG to an image you want..

There was a pretty good sense keyboard mod when I used my Desire, wondering if anyone plans on giving the new HTC keyboard a work-over?
Yea like totally getting rid off the stupid arrows wtf with that

Somebody posted a version in the themes/apps forum, but it didn't work correctly. I believe he was holding off updating until he got his device this week so he could test it personally. Certainly hope someone figures this out. Love the keyboard, absolutely hate the arrows. I can't understand why they didn't make that a configurable options.
Arrows where there with the hd2 and the desire hd, when I got the sensation I was like wtf no arrows?! So to me there a welcome readdition.
And as I typed that message I realised there not there anymore...wtf

Annoying keyboard
I too got annoyed with the arrows and lack of space between the letters in HTC keyboard. So moved to stock Gingerbread keyboard.
However that is leading me to another funny and strange annoyance in browser address bar. I have fat fingers... and now I can never edit the last letter of URL in the browser address bar. The last letter always is very close to the close (x) button of the address bar, and if I try to put curser there it deletes everything :-(

If I recall correctly (haven't used GB in a while), you can touch anywhere in the bar then drag the cursor to the end.
Hi,
I'm using stock ROM and stock messaging app and have selected in the options not to display the name or content if new messages in status bar but it doesn't work and still displays it!!
Any ideas please?

Is it any surprise I'm getting rid of my one x literally less than one week after buying...have been quite disappointed with the one x and 52 people read this without any response or confirm if they have a similar issue or not...it would have took 30-60 seconds!
Should have stuck to Samsung's...we'll unfortunately I've already sold my s2 so i guess it'll have to be the new beast s3...
Thanks to those a few that did help on a few things but generally the one x forum is a little cold for me compared to the Samsung just like the HTC phones!

The problem you posted is a little obscure, I've not seen it mentioned in any other threads, perhaps nobody has come across the same issue yet? If people don't know what the answer is then they won't post. The fact that it had so many views and not one response suggests that this is the case and it's not a case of the forum posters ignoring you.

Are you talking about the option Messages--->Menu--->Settings--->Notifications-->Notification Preview, untick the option but the message will still be shown if you pull down the status bar??
From testing on my phone, when you untick the option, and get a text message...I get no preview on the lock screen, the message icon on the status bar (with no preview) but the message is there when you pull down the status bar. To truly get rid of it (no message in the pull down status bar) is to disable Received Notifications but that's counter productive as you get no alerts!
I will test on my Xperia Arc (when I get home from work) and see if it does the same (I have a funny feeling that it will do the same)
I beleive it maybe a generic Andorid thing in terms of messages appering on the pull down status bar (perhaps the more experienced guys and clarify)

Hi thanks that's correct...i still see the preview when you don't with the same settings!

It's not that no one has anything to say, it's that no one actually cares about the preview - it's MY phone so I want to see the messages. Do you share your phone? If not, it's a complete non-issue IMO

So you still see the preview on your lockscreen? Or in the status bar? Because that setting doesn't change the status bar preview, just the lockscreen one. But if in the Personalize settings you have the lockscreen type set to notifications preview, it'll show regardless of the messaging settings.

Use GO SMS Pro or Pansi SMS from the Play Store. They're far better then the default SMS app anyway, you'll find many more actually useful options along with your privacy setting, and they also have individual settings for specific contacts, so you can choose only messages from a certain contact to not show in the status bar, if that matters. Works both while using the phone and in the lock screen. The individual settings feature is included with GO SMS and is a plugin for Pansi SMS.
And don't be so impatient. It's not that everyone who reads a thread has to have an answer and reply. Don't go by how many views the thread has got and wait a day or two. There have been so many threads I've read for which I don't have an answer. It's not that people don't care, they'll most certainly help if they know how or have experienced the same thing. Almost everything can be solved, being impatient won't help. Similarly, why would you want to be hasty and get rid of such an awesome phone, that too over such a tiny issue? IMO, phones should only be returned if there's a problem hardware-wise. Not because of app-related problems or operating system problems. There is almost always an (often better) alternative for these things (apps & ROMs).

Hello, problem will remain if he keeps the stock app.
I had two notifications using handcent SMS.
I had to disable the notification from the stock app and only activate handcent notifications and it works perfectly now.
But the stock app is always living by its own without notifying me anything.
You have different notifications : mails, SMS, facebook, twitter, etc.
Which ones are still remaining ? SMS ? Mail ?
And then you also have the reports from sending SMS, this should be also disabled
or you will have receive reports for each SMS you send ...
Why I'm asking this is because of screen burn in. I know the damage is already done, but I'd like to slow down the process if I can. I know of different ways to slow it down but it will always eventually happen. Maybe for an upcoming version of android, Google or whoever could come up with a theme that didn't always have static images when you're using the phone, thus helping with screen life. Another alternative could be that there's a black bar in the notification area and you have to pull it down to see the different stats that are there currently. Top edge slide down is where the time, signal, connection type, battery, GPS and any other stuff. Bottom edge slide up could be the self hiding app drawer. That's just some brainstorming ideas. I have a feeling that the top and bottom are hard baked into the os. There's different kinds of launchers that look different, why couldn't an auto hiding launcher be there instead of a conventional one?
they have the ability to hide launcher? second option from bottom in my pic

I saw that apex launcher can hide the top bar, but I didn't see a way to get at the information if you swiped down on the bar.
I think I found what I was looking for. Go launcher ex has settings that I set that the home screen is completely black. If you slide down gesture, the notification bar appears. If I slide up gesture, the dock appears. If you go the same direction twice, it hides the dock or notif bar. Kinda neat if someone picked up the phone, they wouldn't initially figure out how to operate the phone.
Something I just thought of; while I'm typing this in xda app, the not if bar is showing. I wonder if there's a way to surpress it while using and app. The burn in from the bar and keyboard isn't when the home screen is on, it's when I'm in an app typing or browsing. Hmm...
You could use paranoid android, if in tablet mode you can hold the power button and there will be a thing that hides the statusbar, effectively going into full screen mode

Sorry if it has been mentioned before (I searched but didn't see).
I found when the notification bar is pulled down on G4 (see attached screen shot), you can only pull it up by swipe up, or tap on the red "clear".
On all other phones, if you simply tap any where else on the screen (out side notifications areas), the screen will pull up as well, not so on G4.
I found this very annoying, because after you dismissed a notification, you just want simple tap to let the notification bar go away, instead try to swipe it up again or accurately tap the clear button.
Does everyone experience the same? my configuration is H812 10C (Rogers). If it is so, why LG not fix such rudimentary bug? Any work around to make it the way how lollipop works on all other phones?
If it's my problem, how can I fix it?
Thanks
To add on my post above, I tested the galaxy S6 today with same 5.1.1 and it is no problem to tap on screen to auto pull up the notification bar. I don't understand why LG remove it on G4
Yeah i dislike their whole notification setup. I dont get why you would change something like that to be counter intuitive

Why don't you just hit the "Notification" button you already have on the soft key 'home' buttons? Just press the up arrow with the line under it to hide your notification bar when you're done. One tap and it's gone, just like you wanted, yes?
No matter which way you slice it, stock android is a much better simpler presentation of the notification panel

My g2 d802 with cloudy 3.3 rom 5.02 lollipop is the same. This should be lg specific. Otherwise the pull up down softkey in the navigation bar is freakin' awesome feature.
Or just press the back button
Never had a problem with that. Configure a "down notification bar" button. As soon as the notification bar is down the down arrow turns into a up arrow. Just tap it to bring notification bar up.

Yes. I had the down notification soft key there as a work around, but still find it is counter intuitive and un nature to tap at the bottom of the screen for things to change at top of screen, so it's not a good fix.
Thanks @lgnd for confirming even G2 is the same, then it's LG's problem, I don't know what's in their mind to do this!
I think the issue needing a fix should be how LG programmed the notification bar to work. One pull brings down notifications and quick settings? Because of this, notifications cannot be expended unless you then swipe up just the quick settings and try again. IMO, LG is also bad at coding stock android.
Not to sound like a prick, but is it that bad? You have to spend a millisecond longer to swipe your thumb as opposed to tapping.
Its not that bad. But it makes u wonder why they would think to change it with no benefit whatsoever.

completely agree, bad UI is bad UI, there is no excuse for not to do something well (especially everyone one else does it well) just because there is a workaround
Wondering what is the official bug report for LG developers ?
I am happy to follow up with them on this as well as the WiFi no autoconnect issue.

Learning from the other post buy modify UI.apk, wondering if we can fix it ourselves if LG is incompetent to fix such simple problem
