Dear Experts;
When I take a video with full HD (1080P), with mp4 format and want to play, it starts for second, then it is hung and I get the message:
problem playing video on htc one x
I have the latest updated version 1.29.401.11 and more than 400 MB free ram.
The same problem was there with the rom before the update. I made factory reset. No use. this problem happens with the galary and most of video playing programs!
Please don't advise to use other program to run. I should be able to run them from the Gallary.
One more hint. For smaller video time, this problem would not be there.
Thank you for your support.
Where r u guys!

Hi, I have a problem with video playback. When I play a mp4 movie abuot 1 hour 13 minutes video pointer( shows what minute is playing) starts going from beginning and sound restarts from beggining too, but video doesn't restart and runs foward. I have tried 2 different converters and different players. I am using CM 7. What should I do to watch my movies normally again?
Sorry for bad english

not sure if its the right place to discuss this, perhaps you should have raised this issue in the cm7 nightly thread. . but i had issues with video playback even while changing the volume in cm7. try older nightlies like 11 or 13 they were fine i believe. using ginger_yoshi rc7 now, works fine.
firstly try to resolve the issue whether it is of CM7 or not.
Donot stick to a single mp4 file. Try with many different mp4 files with different video converters. Then play those files with different video players on wildfire.
I've tried ginger_yoshi rc7, but i still have the same problem. I've tried multiple files too.
I have the same problem too. It seems no particular problem of CM roms. Had the problem with other roms installed too. I normally use a video splitter before converting. That works for me.

I would definitely agree with you...
Just to add... i have been facing the same problem..
When i flash a sense based rom the mp4 playback is flawless... But...
Same is not the case with ASOP roms... whether it is CM 7 or the latest Ginger Yoshi...
Plz... Help!!!
I really want to move to ASOP based ROMS as they much more responsive and updated...
Thank you....

I also have the similar problem but only while playing Youtube videos. When I use MX Player for videos stored on phone there is no such problem. Try watching the same video on the youtube website on the browser.

The only solutions that comes to mind are the stuttering issue while beats (eq) is active (turn it off completely), or the CPU that is running on a too low clockrate/voltage.
Furthermore have you guys tried a hard reset ? Maybe there are some rogue apps running in the background and clogging up your memory/CPU resources.
The only time I experienced such issue was when I ran the older firmware versions with the beats stuttering bug, or when my phone didn't have enough resources left to do the job

My phone does not do this with beats active. You might need to update your phone. If you want to return it I would now as I can't imagine there will be a new software update coming out in the foreseeable future.

I rarely start any threads as I usually can find answers on my own.. but so far no luck in this case.
I used to use a Linksys WRT160NL as my media server to store and provide videos which worked great with my Motorola DEFY, Samsung Galaxy SLC, and recently HTC Desire S (ICS).
Now I got the HOX and to my surprise this quad core champ has an issue - it does not recognize any video files on the media server.
I also have my Windows 7 PC set up to stream media (Windows Media Player) and those videos are seen and played by One X just fine.
So I thought that since Windows 7 is OK and Linksys is not, then I should check another router. And so I did.
I got a pretty powerful Netgear WNDR3700 and set up a media server over there - but it's the same thing again.
All other Android devices (and the PC) can see all streamed content but not the HTC One X (only music and pictures are visible).
At the moment I'm running the ARHD 9.1.0 but I noticed the problem with SW 1.29 and later stock 2.17.
3rd party apps can read the media server fine - just not the stock application (Gallery).
Please post if you have similar observations - perhaps we can find a solution or pass it to HTC.
B.R.
Mike.
Windows media player transcode your videos. Your router can't. Use right video format.

OK... and in such a case how do you explain that my Desire S on "stock" ICS 4.0.4 and DEFY (2.3.6) have no problems playing video streams from the same router?

But you're not using stock on ONE X are you?
Maybe it's a ROM issue?
Try going back to stock on ONE X first.
Personally I'm using BubbleuPNP on my HOX, and it's streaming (incoming) everything I can throw at it, video included.
Try putting a mp4 file in the shared folders.

Hi,
I have the same issue on a HTC One S (S4 - Stock Firmware 1.78.401.2) playing from a Buffalo Linkstation so I presume it's incompatibility. I can play the files locally (on the device) and I've checked that they are of a standard type. These files stream using DLNA to other devices without any problems (PS3 / Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1). I was also going to buy another DLNA server as I though this was at fault at first.
As you have found it works fine from Windows Media Centre without problems. It will display photos and play MP3 over DLNA and I can browse directories. If I can find anymore info I'll post here.
Crossman.
I have the same issue. I suspect it has a problem using anything but the default Window Media Streaming port. I am running serviio, and same issue with HTC One X. LG Home Theater can see and play the files just fine.
Update: The following makes it work however: BubbleUPnP. Used it with MXPlayer Pro. And with Serviio, it plays anything, unlike the crippled Windows Media Services

Sorry for the bump, but the stock app is still a no go for me. I can try to fix this (I've done several mods to stock apps in the past) if you could elaborate a bit more about the issue you are guessing.
Thanks.
I have a problem with almost any video on hox including youtube. So far I tried x264 and divx. It also happens in youtube app... It feels like the cpu isn't catching up... Like its always on low clock speed. Any idea how to fix it?
4.0.4 with sense (unrooted)
Btw, what are the advantages and disadvantages of putting vanilla android on hox instead of the factory sense version? I'm pretty new in android world so i'm still catching things up...
Thanks!
maybe the cores really are not picking up... install CPU Stats or Micro CPU Monitor from Play Store so you can check your CPU while playing movies.
If there are problems with the cores, you should check your warrenty
Btw. Maybe another process is using the cores, so movies are stuttering.
Already had micro cpu. Thete is only one core active while playing video or watching youtube. And if it gets to 100% the second core won't activate. However, while playing games or using chrome, multiple cores are normally activated.

But i can play correctly only hd formay. When i playing full hd format on htc one x, tends to slow down the video and the colors are distorted.
On pc same video playing correctly.
