I have a couple questions in regards to the two different ROMS. I'm currently running Gingervillain v1.4. Didn't update to 1.5 because there was a bug or something that I read into that made me decide not to update.
Now, with the release of CM7, I would like to know if I should flash this.
The main problems I have with Gingervillain that's irritating are:
1) WiFi Calling does not work
2) Sometimes screen does not go on after hitting the unlock button (talks about this being an OC issue)
3) a bunch of random reboots
But I found it extremely convenient that Gingervillain included an OC kernal within their ROM so it saved me time and research. Does CM7 have an OC kernal built in too? And what are some MAIN issues that CM7 suffer from? I've read in a few but I wanna know of the main things that will cause a problem in daily usage (I heard GPS had issues).
Get CM7. Nothing against GV but all u seek is in CM7.

I second that

I have no issues with CM7, GPS gets a lock in less than five sec., been using it since Build 0 and yes it comes with an OC'd kernel.
CM7 RC1 all the way lol. No issue at all for me

Been using CM7 since nightly #30 (were on #40 now). WiFi calling works, GPS now seems to work for everyone (confirmed working just fine locks in <10 sec), and I've never had a reboot.
I'm running at 1017mhz OC and no screen on/off issues or wakelock, although I've heard that people overclocked are having some issues here and there. I've also replaced ADW with the stock GB launcher and its extreeeemely smooth.
get cm7 rc1
Wow... majority rules... CM7 here I come.. LOL
I dont know if my gps isn't working or if it's just taking a stupid long amount of time to lock on to satellites. How can I make sure my gps is working?

1) using wifi calling in GV1.5, no issues for me.
2) OC'd screenlock issue fix: use Interactive scaling instead of on-demand.
3) (I haven't had random reboots on any gingerbread roms so I can't help you there )
not saying don't go CM7 - pretty obvious that it's a solid rom, but I quite like GV1.5 on my G2. it's snappier for me, even at stock clocks.
I run GV1.5 the exact same way I was running CM7 - same settings, LauncherPro with 1 homescreen and 2 dock screens and 3D drawer, 1113/368 with interactive scaling and no profiles set up (haven't needed to yet).
the main reason I switched from CM7 is that LauncherPro would FC every time I started my phone. GV1.5 fixed that for me. other than that, I don't think you can go wrong with either of these roms at this point...
plus, GV2.0 is fast approaching
I have a gray GPS icon in the notification bar when I'm trying to use it. But I've waited over 15 minutes without a lock-on.
Is my GPS not functioning, or is it just taking ridiculously long to lock on??
I'm aware this should go in the virtuous thread, but with <10 posts I am not allowed to do so. I figured a mod would rather simply merge this with that than deal with pointless spam to work up to an arbitrary limit.
Anyway, running Virtuous Mod+Kernel on my Indian model Desire Z (there is no Australian unlocked model available at this time), all works fine, battery is lovely, etc - the only issue is that the accelerometer stops working a few (10-20) minutes after booting. Rebooting temporarily fixes the issue so I doubt it's hardware (and yes I've tried a sharp tap at various angles!). I didn't notice this at all under stock, nor (I think, my memory is not too good at temporal ordering) before installing the Virtuous custom kernel - previously I was using the stock kernel with virtuous mod. A quick grep through dmesg yields nothing of note, but I don't know what the module is called so I may not be searching for the right keywords.
I have googled and thread searched and forum searched - the only similar issue I found was some guy running Virtuous on the Incredible with the same problem.
Is there any way to re-initialize the accelerometer without a reboot? This would make troubleshooting easier, if nothing else.
BUMP: for reference, it seems to be related to the Maps live wallpaper. Can't really be bothered flashing back to stock to see if it's really a Virtuous thing.
Same problem on unmodded Desire Z, not using the google maps live wallpaper or whatever. Was fine before the last firmware update.
It's a good time to be a desire owner these days.
The roms just keeps popping out day after another.
Question is, which one is the fastest, most stable, best one?
I think a poll is in place.
Please only vote if you've actually tried them all.

Happy flashing!
Tried 2 of them robo and Baadnewz v similar but TBH no video camera,no trackball wake then none of them is the ****
InsertCoin v1 was running very sweet for me but for some reason updated versions caused problems, probably my fault couldn't be bothered with a full wipe currently using RCMix Sv08 very happy with that apart from the 2 points mentioned above and the lack of a menu function to swap from 2G to 3G easily signal,GPS,battery life all great compass i think borked but i never use it
I selected the rcmix S, because for now it's the only one I tested, and what I can say is that it is really fast for normal use. Compared to version rcmixHD
For other ROMs, they seem to be all good as each other. The developers follow the well updated and are listening to users. The user feedback at speed and bug are equivalent for all roms.
You guys did a great job! Thank you for all your work for our small desires.

Camera is fixed in both, lag is fixed in insertcoint.
There are solutions for both roms to get the extra settings working in quick menu. (use search in thread)
There are solutions for both roms to get trackballwake(guides, search in threads).
-video rec. still down
-compas still down
anyhow, my 2 cents.. their both great! I picked insertcoin, not alot of difference between the 2 roms.. but in time that will change imo..
but for now, both very viable! havent tried ace & vision roms yet
In general I agree on:

Yes, as you noticed there are almost no differences in our roms, what i can see when i diff the roms is that only thing changed is the ril and some apps removed from insertcoin... so i dont know what is causing lag in my rom :/ strange... should be the same... It can be the plurk which he removed and i still have in my rom (possible memory leak in that app), i will check that when i come back from my vacation, now i am working on A2SD version of v08.
have a nice day everyone

well i don't know where the lag appears, i changed the rils, modded init.rc, changed all wpa related files with the ones from gb leak in an effort to fix some wifi problems, i removed some files, fonts, and moved lib_s to /system/lib.
Problem with my roms later than v01 is flash player 10.2, problem that is also on my froyo roms. and i have no clue how to fix it, thou in robo's roms the problem doesnt exists, plurk i removed from v04 so users should tell if that did the trick or not.
And as mentioned before, robocik did the hard - porting - hacking part. without this we wouldn't have a sense 2.1 rom.
btw, anyone have a clue why compass is acting strange? not that i ever use it, but some users need it
Hmmm its too difficult to compare 3 roms...coz me n baadnewz using same base even features is 100% same...only difference between tweaking n optimization...
But my vote for RCmixS coz robo is the first person who port sense 2.1 Rom...

If you look at the SuperDuperAwesomeROM v0.3 by eddyOS isn't that 2.33 Gb with an earlier version of Sense but made for the Desire, not a port and people say compass doesn't work, so maybe HTC cockup?

try to take my flash player and libs... uploading my A2SD rom, i have changed some flash stuff, we'll see if it helps for the users... have not tried it myself yet.
my users are reporting some calling issues, is that caused by the ril? i am using the one from the leaked rom... i think anyway hehe dont remember anymore.
need to run now. A2SD+ is on the way up.

if the compass problem is in the bravo leak then yes is a problem from HTC. But again the leak is a TEST Build so problems are expected.

read the thread question before posting ****! btw currently running insertcoin S v04, no problems at all, removed plurk and stocks, also thinking about removing peep but I don't know how will this affect the UI(friendswidget for example). Peep is also using a lot of memory.

would like to vote for
RC-MIX
&
InsertCoin as both of them feel very good in allday work situation
gave my vote to I-Coin cause i used it longer but now im on RCmix V8 and think i will stay there (top)
thx to Robo for making new STUFF available for our/my Desire
i couldnt find any way to get trackballwake on gb sense roms,i searched a lot.
Would someone plz be so nice to show where to get a flashable zip for it.
Why don't you three musketeers join forces to focus on just one bad ass rom?
I experienced slowdowns when I flashed the vorkmod of rcmix s 0.7, no slowdowns anymore after going back to the original rcmix s. I suspect it's some of these extra modules added (undervolt or a different governor)
btw my compass works quite well
Is anyone having problems with autobrightness (ie brightness suddenly going up and down again?)
oh my vote goes to robocik for now
On insertcoin, the WiFi randomly disconnects when the signal is low. Does this happen on other ROMs?

Hi,
Since I've installed my first (and only) rom (iH8ra!n's CM10) last Christmas, although it's every bit better than stock, the last few months I've realised how good the GPS works in the stock rom. GPS barely works for me any more. I have tried a few fixes with no luck.
So what are the best GPS roms to try for the Wildfire S?
Thanks
speeding up gps

if you need stock roms you can try my stock roms..check my signature and about gps.
use fasterfix from playstore and set your location and gps will lock more faster.(mostly default ntp servers are north america and all locations so it take time to fix on location so with this app you can change your gps.conf file and gps will locked faster)
good luck:good:

I can't believe I didn't find fasterfix earlier after all the googling I've done. GPS about as quick as my Nexus 7 now. I did try messing with gps.conf after I found some guides on here but I didn't do it right or they didn't work.
Thanks crossfire77!
