In Honeycomb, I can tap the speaker icon on the left of the volume adjust bar to mute.
But in ICS(Acer_AV041_A100_1.014.00_WW_GEN1), It doesn't work. So I can't mute the media/notification volumes without hardware buttons.
Can I mute the media/notification volumes in other ways?
Try a volume control app

I've noticed that when using a program like handsent sms that the sounds are not part of the ringer.. they are under notifications.. so for instance if I lower my volume wit my rocker buttons to lowest setting but still on ring. And recieve a txt thru handsent the ring will be still loud to what ever the notification ring is set to.. my question is a tweak or something that allows the rocker buttons to control all sound ? Not just ranger volume?

wrong section ...
... but
if you go under settings, sounds, volume you can make the ringtone and notifications move in sync with each other.
There is also an app called audiomanager (free and paid versions) that lets you manage all 6 sound profiles separately. They are:
Alarm
Music
Alerts
Ringer
System
Voice call
and comes with a handy widget. Does not change the functionality of the volume rocker however.
Hi guys,
How do you change the volume when your in the app (the app volume).
Whenever I am in an app and I press the volume buttons, it changes the media volume a bit and then changes over to ringer volume. I am also using the volume locker.
Is there a setting to just change the volume of the opened app using the sie keys.
Regards,
Abinav
The App volume forms part of the Media Volume.
Is anyone else genuinely annoyed with the fact there is no volume lock option on this device? When I want to lower the volume with the rocker on say the lock screen, only the ringer volume goes down, and I have to click the gear icon to manually adjust the volume for the notificatons/media/etc.
I know there are manual volume profile apps/widgets out there, but maybe I'm just old school and want to use the rocker to adjust my volume down for all possible audio output at once.
Any workarounds known out there?
I miss something like the iphone silent switch but it's something we just have to get use to. Simple sound widget seems to do nicely. I just pull down notification bar click it and chose from custom profiles.

In my other phones turning the volume to 0 always muted the ringer and left the vibrate function on. Now I'm missing calls left and right because I turn the volume down all the way for meetings and such and don't get a vibration. Is there a fix for this?
All the way down is mute with no vibration, n one click up is no volume with vibration

I have a problem with my N7 2013
All of sudden the volume doesn't work, well is working but the volume is very very low when I go to YouTube the audio is very low and the dock and keyboard sound I can't bearly hear it. I just check in setting and the media and other volumes are at max and I did a reboot and nothing.
Also when I press the volume button it shows a phone (picture down below)
All of this happens today. I don't know if this have to do with a Bluetooth keyboard I bough today (minisuit keyboard for the N7)
Can some one please help me I will appreciate it.
PS. Sorry for my bad spelling I'm from Puerto Rico

Help With Volumes
When you are turning the volume up, tap that small icon on the right and it will bring up the other volumes and then just slide the volume bars to the volume you want.
If you want to turn up, main volume the one with the speaker icon is the one you want
The screenshot you have attached, bares no relevance to volume. As you cans see, that is the volume for incall volume or ringtone. Have you recently installed an app for texting or making phone calls? As above, you need to make sure you are changin your media volume, not your "phone" volume. If you have an android phone, use the volume buttons on the home screen, it will display the same slider bar in your picture. Open a game and press the volume button and it will change to the slider bar for audio output.
Yeah try hugelife advice and you see that dock sound in the screen try ticking it and trying again.
