Does this harm the battery ?
I try charging the phone while downloading the sd data for games, but don't know if it will cause some serious consequences.
you put the phone to charge only for download or it was with low battery and you charge it?
if you had...45% of battery and you put the phone to charge only for download time, this is wrong
if it was low battery and you put to charge, and in this time you download the game i think it is ok
but i recommend, if the phone is in charge, let it to charge, and than do everything you want...
i though its oke. but its strongly recommended you off your handheld while charging
I just leave it there charging to download data (hundreds of MBs) and go out or something
Is it ok ?
if its wi-fi then its fine...if its mobile data then u might fry ur phone!!
simply y to take risk..
i use the wifi tethering/hot-spot on my phone all the time and cause it chews the power so much i have it plugged in aswell. i have not had any issues with overheating ect.
but i have a thin case. if you have a big thick silicon case it could cause heating issues. just a few things to think about.

Here is the problem :-

2. Exec in standby mode, got heat (warm)
3. While charging, i put it on standby mode, few second later it wake up it self.
4. while open the cover, usually have to press the power button it's only wakeup, but this time its on every moment..
Tried solution :-
Problems occured while using gprs for internet, it hang so soft reset it... after soft reset everything is fine, but the battery drain out so fast... and the device is WARM...
Flashed back to original rom (o2) - still the same
Tried flashed to WM6 - still the same problem
i got 2 x batteries... the problem still the same (not the battery problem)
anyone can help out with this?
thank you so much
try using 2А battery charger .. I have had similar problems that I decided to convert the old computer power supply for charging purposes
I was going to say your battert's old and dead, but since you said it was independent from the battery, now I think the drain and the heating might be explained by a short circuit somewhere in the non-vital parts of the device, or a malfunction of the power control circuit, causing constant drain and heating up the battery.
As for the device beng constantly on, have you checked the power settings? If those are all right, they can stil be attributed to the faulty power controller...
I suggest you take it to a repair shop(since your ROM-flashing probably voided the warranty, so the provider will just turn you away...), they might be able to do something with it.
I suggest you check back later to see if someone more knowledgeable than me offered confirmation or another opinion...
Good Luck!
theres only one thing i can think of: Turn off your wifi when you dont use it Xp Thats the only reason i can think of when your device gets warm and the battery quickly drained ; D

I don't think so...the wifi doesn't use nearly enough power to heat up the device or drain the battery that quickly. Even with all wireless options enabled, but screen brightness set to minimum, the battery lasts approximately one and a half hours for me.
I think the quick drain and heating is caused by either a non-critical short-circuit or a faulty power controller circuit...
maybe you gor ripped off. what kind of battery did you buy?
The battery that im bought recently
same as the old one.
PU16A Li-ion Polymer Battery 1620mAh
everything i tried to save the power
everything off except the phone, the backlight set to the lowest.
im charge it with my charger instead of USB port from computer
ok so i got a problem with my battery
my battery on my phone just going out to fast
for example today
i connected it so it could reload and then
when i disconnected it was 100%
then after 2 hours only that i havnt use the phone i mean havnt touched it even once
i look again on battery life and here it says 36%
and it keep going every day
can some1 tell me why it keep happening???
WOW! That's a major drain in 2hours.
My 2 cents are on a defective battery - since the phone was on standby.
You can try some tutorials on adjusting the power saving settings (like screen brithgness what to turn off and not etc.)
Also you might try caibrate the battery.
there is a thing like u charge it to 100% ,unplug from the charger and turn the phone off ,then plug in again and charge to 100% again... there is a thread about it on this forum, do a lil search it might help u
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to battery and find partial wake usage, here the apps are listed that prevent the phone form sleeping and thus causing battery drain. Also check the % under Settings-about phone- battery usage to see what app or process consumed the most battery.
Does it get very hot? I mean - if the battery really contains 1500mAh (which I doubt in this case) and drains completely in 3 hours, that's 500mAh, so 3.5V*0,5A=1,75W continuesly.
You really should notice that while it's in your pocket...
no the phone isnt getting hot
i mean it can sit on my pocket for like 2-3 hours and then it suddenly 3x %
without even touching it
Try these steps:
1. Please connect the phone to the charger with the phone powered on, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green, indicating the device is fully charged.
2. Disconnect the phone from the charger, and power it off.
3. Reconnect the phone to the charger with the phone powered off, and allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green.
4. Disconnect the phone from the charger and power it on. Once the phone is powered completely on, power it off again and reconnect it to the charger until the notification LED is green.
5. Disconnect the phone, power it on (OPTIONAL: Enter Recovery at this point and Wipe Battery Stats (from Advanced menu), and use it. You need to use this sequence only once.
If that does not solve it you have a defective batterie.
ok i will try it
but can u tell me what the point???
i mean what does it do??

The point of that, is to make the battery life longer. And actually it works. I tried when i bought my phone an the increase was significant!
Edit: Just saw in another thread that some newer custom ROMs has some things messed up, and they eat the battery more than normal when the screen is off. You might take a look at it.
yea i did all the steps and its not working
the battery still going down rapidly
so i should buy new one??
Yeah.
BTW, are you on a stock rom?
srry
no idea what stock rom means
but im on miui rom
Ok so I have one of those extended battery clips. It's not the big battery with the larger door -- it's the one that you slip onto the phone like a battery case.
So once you turn it on, the phone gets INSANELY hot, and it recharges the phone like super fast --- you can go from 50% to 100% in like 15 mins.
My friend said that this isn't good for the battery.
Today I unplugged my phone when I woke up -- it was at 100%
An HOUR later it was at 79% (21% drop) and I honestly didn't even use it once, turned the screen on twice to see the time, and that was it.
So wtf is going on ? Is my battery ruined ? It loses charge insanely fast and what's worse, even when it's plugged in, it takes forever to charge, like very very slow (5% an hour or so)
Please help
I'm not sure what's causing your battery drain. Have you checked if there is a wakelock issue or lack of mobile reception? Try using BetterBatteryStats to determine what's causing your battery drain.
As for the quick charging, it is recommended to only use oem chargers because they provide the correct amount of amperage. You can damage your battery with such a fast charger, however I'm not sure if it will ruin it after only a few charges.

I have 2 awesome apps for battery. Better battery stats doesn't say anything is draining it, just the screen, which is always the most.
One app I have turns off the 2nd core. The other puts the phone into DEEP SLEEP mode every single time the screen is off, and still none of these do anything ... 20% drain an hour when not even using it ? surely this is an issue with the battery itself and not the phone/software ?
i wish someone could help
absolutely not a single app running -- juice defender working, other apps to turn off everything, all data, wifi, mobile, 3g, etc .
EVERY SINGLE THING IS OFF.
Phone is still insanely hot. Phone is still losing battery (1% every 10 mins) while plugged in.
WHILE PLUGGED IN
please help

Hot is not good if everything is off. And in regards to the charging so quickly, this is bad for any lithium ion battery. Stop using the battery case!
See if you can get another stock battery (should be able to from the store it was purchased from or some corporate store for your carrier) and try it without the battery case. If it doesn't work then warranty the phone. If you are not original stock ROM then ensure that you put it back to stock first. Before you go back to stock unrooted make sure your flash counter reads 0 flash counts. Use triangle away if needed.
What brand battery case did you use? I would call and complain to the maker and request my money back.
Good morning everyone,
I'm not sure if this is a common issue, or it is just me. I often use my Z1C for torrenting and streaming while pluging in the charger, but the instead of charging, the battery keeps draining. is it a normal thing? sorry if this looks lika a dumb question, i'm really a noob around here, hehe
thanks in advance for the response
If the phone requires more power than the charger can provide, it'll drain. Straight logic.
From USB port you can gain to 0,9A. Your phone drain in normal usage when screen is on 0,5A. But if you use your phone more than that it can drain about 1A-1,4A so you need normal charger minimum 1,5A or higher.
While charging, streaming n downloading make ur phone hot and the phone itself stop charging or control charging current thats why it behaves like that.. It is very fustrating and in cm u will get rid of it..
hi.. should i turn off my phone when i charge it?
because when i turn off my phone and charge it, it stuck at 97%, it won't go fully 100%.
but when i turn on my phone and charge it, it can fully charge 100%..
does it mean my battery start to get bad?
and with this litium battery is it true that if we use it until it completely depleted the battery will go bad?
i know that every energy storage (like battery) has lifespan, what i wanna say is, if we use the phone till the phone drop dead (battery completely depleted will shorten it lifespan?
thanks
and i bought this phone bout a month ago

Happened at my stolen device also just like you said, but not experiencing with my present device redmi 1s (bought used device from someone).
My stolen device use stock miui 5 rom, i remembered install repair battery life app from playstore.
And somehow it worked, dunno if it caused by the app or not, you can try tho...

Yes, like i said, "just like you said" about the device,
And im currently at cm 12.1 r4 and since the first cm 12, its the opposite
You'll not have issue with stuck at 97% charging while power off, but you'll stuck at 3% while using phone (no charging), never reach 0%.

No its not going bad. Its normal for the charging to slow down alot at 97% since overcharging is bad too. Just unplug and use it once its >95%
And yes its very bad for lithium batteries to go completely flat, and their lifespan will be longer if you charge it more often - that is a shallower discharge depth is better.
