[Q] Will microSDHC work? - Samsung Captivate Glide

Will a microSDHC work with my Captivate Glide (AT&T if it makes a difference)?
On the AT&T product page for this phone it said it supports microSD, so does anybody know about SDHC? Also, can I use any class of microSDHC up to 32 GB?
thanks.

Yes. They're same size, but in the manual it says tested up to 32GB. HC only stands for high capacity

Someone on here has reported it working up to 64 GB.

Hm, does music scan the external sd? I need to try that. Good idea to put ROMs on there too.

Memory for digital cameras is usually SD, while phones use MicroSD.
I wouldn't waste money on it unless I knew for sure. G2/DZ support up to 32gb. Maybe, maybe not. Please do tell if it works

Bumping this back up - has anyone tried 64gb MicroSD yet?
If you don't mind me asking, dafuq r u gonna do with 64 gb of storage?
I have 8gb and I don't even use it all lol.
Mostly music tbh, but also pictures, videos, apps, a couple of full backups. You tend to fill up the space when you have it. I have had to delete files to keep under the 32gb I have at present, so I would use 64gb if available.
I might buy one anyway to use in my next phone if not this one...

Anyone tried a 64GB microsd?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYUg14u_co8
I read that it works but there are performance issues. Interested in the 2 cents of someone who has tried it vs a 32gb microsd. I personally wouldn't mind just having multiple 32gb sticks and switching them out if there is a performance loss with the 64gb.
Has been tried by others and works fine.

I use the Sandisk 64gb and have no issues with music or movies. For pictures, there's a pause, but I can't say if it's slower than a 32gb class 10 card

[Q] Anyway to get a 64 GB microSD Card with a 16 GB S3?

It's only expandable up to 64 GB. If I use a 64 GB microSD Card on a 16 GB phone then that would go up to 80 GB of storage. The guy at T-Mobile even told me that I could only use a 32 GB microSD card. Basically if there was a 48 GB microSD card then I could use it because it wouldn't go pass 64 GB. This is all pretty much info from the guy at T-Mobile.

I think he means that u can't use any SD card bigger than 64gb. It shouldnt interfere with internal storage.
You can use any sd card upto 64gb regardless of internal storage.

dude, i had to read this like twice to get what you are trying to say.... and i'm still confused.
let's make this simple. people at t mobile don't know ***t about anything technical 95% of the time. so just, that whole conversation you had with that clown, crumble it up, burn it with fire and hatred.
your device will support an EXTRA 64 GB of storage (via a micro SD card)..... the problem, however, is 64 GB micro SD cards do not come in FAT32 format, which is what you need it formatted to for the device to recognize it as external storage. basically what will happen is you will plug the card into the device, turn it on, and your device will say it is not recognized or something along those lines.
Just to be clear, because i know this all sounds complicated, and it is.... the problem is the formatting structure of the two disks.... you MUST have FAT32 as your external because that is what the device is programmed to recognize. 64 GB cards come in a different file system called exFAT (which is what your internal storage is formatted to)... issues. obviously.
furthermore, the problem with re-formatting the 64 GB card (because this can be done as well to get around that issue) is that because of the file system structure of FAT32, it does not run optimally when the disk size is larger than 32 GB... i have partitioned disks larger than 100 GB to FAT32, but performance suffers.
basically, just get a 32 GB class 10 card and call it a day. unless your ROM/kernel supports exFAT in the external storage, you will not be using anything larger than 32 GB.
hope that made sense. it's late. read up on file systems and block sizes on FAT32 and exFAT disks and you'll understand entirely what I am talking about.

I got a 64GB SanDisk that I formatted to FAT32 and it works perfect. If there's a MicroCenter near you then you could get a good deal on a micro sd. The SanDisk I bought was 55 at MicroCenter and 100 at BestBuy.
This one works for me:
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter-SDSDQUA-064G-U46A/dp/B007WTAJTO
most people around here recommend the Samsung... because SanDisk had a bad batch of microSD cards... and even they accepted it... that said I have a SanDisk 64gb and it's working flawlessly so far...

I followed this method when I bought my sandisk ultra 64gb card. Somehow when I format with my PC it only recognizes it at 32gb. Tried with windows xp and windows 7 same result. Using the software below worked perfect.

What ^^ he said.
$50-$60 (sub-40 quid if you're british) for a class 10 or UHS-1 64GB uSDXC card is a reasonable price. I still like SanDisk, they did have a bad batch before Christmas (and I unluckily got one) but they replaced very quickly with no fuss so they get my vote. I used amazon for my last one.
64 gig is fine for tonnes of music and photos, only time I'd want more is if I was taking my entire DVD collection everywhere with me.

I would recommend newegg or adorama.
Amazon's "Warehouse Deals" section usually has open-box/repack Sandisk and Samsung UHS-1 cards for a little over $40 and $50, respectively.

Yeah, I've seen the 128 GB full-size SDXC cards for quite a while now, but no 128 GB micro SDXC. Main reason I need all that space is my full music collection is around 75 GB, and I'd love to finally dump the old iPod classic and just have the whole collection on the phone. :good:
