It seems like Iphone or Ipod has run over the android platform in this area. Can it really be that theres no video recording app for android, like the iphone's 8mm app, Vintage video app and so on ?

I'm unfamiliar with those iPhone/iPod apps, but what do you mean "video recording app"? What exactly do you want from this app?
I use the default camera to record in 720p all the time
sorry i might not expressed my self clear enough When I record video its plain video. I mean an app that applies filters to the video like Vignette does on photos.
There is an app called "videocam illusion" that can add filters and effects

I just saw in apple store there is an app 8mm HD http://goo.gl/Gof5S for vintage video recording.
in Android Market there is an app RetroMoviePlayer with the same effect but it crashes on SGS2.
Does anyone know if there is another similar app? (i couldnt find one)
I think it would be really nice to be able to record vintage videos on SGS2
Thanks
Did you try videocam illusion. Try lite and go for pro version.Vintage is not there but u can get near vintage video with some other video effects.
As a recent Droid Incredible user, I've been using Screencast to record my screen on the DInc. Unfortunately this does not work on the Nexus.. it does record the screen but throws a black layer over the video, from my understanding is something to do with the hardware "screen wise".
Is there a workaround to fix this, a different app that will record or am I just doomed until Screencast Devs fix this?

Screencast would be on my gnex in a minute if it was compatible. As you said, everything works perfectly except that the video itself is blank (black).
I noticed that the screenshots by Screencast have the same problem. Maybe if the Screencast dev(s) pinpointed why their screenshots are blank, which would seem to be trivial since there are so many working screenshot apps for the gnex, the same fix would make their videos work, too?
At any rate I hope they get it working. That's an app I'd pay for.
Well, I have read stuff about the Nexus 5x saving upside down images/vids with 3rd party apps that didn't use API correctly, but today I saved a video, which looks OK on the device, but when I send it to the PC.. it is upside down.
Is this common? it has any fix? can I fix the vid somehow?
If this happens to the stock camera... what the **** Google..
I've read somewhere that it's normal, the sensor it's upside-down so it puts a flags for apps to turn it around.. the problem is that I tested any program on Windows (Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, VLC, WMP, etc..) and ALL of them show the video upside-down...

Hmm, I downloaded the last version from hpc hc yesterday and it was still upside down. What is that madvr render stuff? Some sort of plugin? This is interesting because if this works im keeping the n5x, if not im returning it (because I want the video reproduced well on pc)
Thanks!
No special settings. Just set madVR as default renderer and launch video by double-click. At least it working in my rig with external GPU. Here is also the feature request in mpc hc trac: https://trac.mpc-hc.org/ticket/2202.
How has google/LG not come up with a better fix for this? Two of my apps that use the camera (Stampt and Chase Mobile Banking) show the video upside down. It is extremely annoying. I realize that the app *should* be updated to the latest API, but if you make upside down hardware YOU should be the one to fix it, not force everyone else to conform.

Works! Thanks a lot!!!! Too bad madVR lags some the video reproduction (specially when returning from full screen) , I don't know why I have to move to such thing just for this device. I hope MPC-HC adopts it soon!!

Google. They didn't even use the API how they say on most of their apps. Google is the enemy of nexus lately.
Another option in MPC (Media Player Classic - Home Cinema) besides MadVR is to rotate the video while playing. Use the following the shortcuts (alt + numpad 3) twice to rotate to 180 degrees as shown in my attached image.
I know it's a pain but this is a workaround for now at least. Along with MadVR.
The Open camera app from the Google Play Store has a curious little feature called "Video Stabilization" among its various options. I tried it and I cannot tell for sure if the output is indeed more stabilized than otherwise. I wanted to ask if you folks have observed anything in this regard.
I read that it's possible to enable EIS for video stabilization on the 5x by modifying the build.prop. Perhaps the setting does nothing until that change has been made.
