Am I the only one which notices that the birthdays of my friends through the FBiX service are one day ahead of what they are supposed to be? Any fix?

Same problem here on my old Lt15i and on my current LT26i.
But I saw the same problem in other models, such as the Samsung Galaxy. The only thing in common was the version of Android, 2.3.x
its most likely a bug/error in the app
-if you've haven't updated FbiX try updating it
-if its been updated, its probably an error on the FbiX app and facebook has to fix it
an android version of any phone has nothing to do with the problem, its the app itself which has to be fixed/updated
I've had innumerable errors when using Sony's Facebook Inside Xperia. Plus syncing events and birthdays used to eat up my data. So have frozen all except the fb main app and Messenger.
I've exported all to Google Calendar and synced with my account. Plus it has this nifty feature wherein it can SMS you a day prior to the birthday. Never miss a birthday again! :highfive:
For fb contact pictures, I'm using HaxSync.
same problem here.... if anyone discover a fix, please share it with us...

Hey guys, I have a MotoDefy with the original 'blurred' 2.1-update1 android on it (rooted, and I use launcherpro, but I don't think either one matters), and I just can't set my facebook account on it. If I try to add an account, and click on facebook, nothing happens. The facebook widget works, so I really have no idea what's going on. Help, please, any ideas?
Yeah, mine did the same. First time I clicked Facebook it took me to a Facebook page, I logged in, the app works but the Facebook account doesn't work. From the second attempt on, nothing happens when I try to add a Facebook account. I think you have the same greek Defy that you can find in Romania too and, from what I know, these are not actually "blurred", they lack the motoblur account functionality.
Sorry...
i definitely have a blurred firmware, all other blur functions work, and i see a process in the task manager called 'motoblur services'. you sure yours is 'deblurred'? btw i'm from hungary so it's possible that we have the very same firmware, and this thing with the facebook account is a bug. looking forward to the 2.2 update, hope they fix this

this happens for me also. I have an indian version of defy. I think this problem is there for all android 2.1 facebook syncing. Lets wait till 2.2 comes.
And btw indian version doesnt have blur i guess!
but if every defy with 2.1 on it, why didn't i find anybody complaining about it? and how do you know yours is not blurred?

There is an app T-mobile social buzz that can synchronise facebook and other contacts. First you have to download market enabler and fake your on t-mobile.

May be you can try to remove the facebook app and install it from the market.
What is your firmware version?
I can't uninstall the facebook app, looks like it's built into the software. (and I checked in the market, it's up to date, so i doubt that it's the source of the whole thing). My software version is 2.34.1, should I update? Could that solve my problem?
Fist of all 2.34.1 is not a blurred fw, there some blur services but you can not create blur account and you can not syncronize Facebook with contacts.
Blur missing from all CEE versions.
But Facebook app should work. You can remove it with Titanium Backup, or you can try to upgrade your fw to 2.51.1.
I know Facebook fell out with Google about data sharing and stuff.
But I thought currently that only affected Nexus S.. (and new handsets after that).
Just noticed that my desire (currently running 2.3.3) can't sync the facebook calender like it could before on 2.2...
Anyone know if that's by design now?
I would have liked the birthday information coming across even though I rarely use FB.
I guess if I can't get it across I'll export and import it into my google calender... but it was nice to have!
cheers
Hmmm
Extract Facebook events and upload to Google Calender
Do this using a laptop

that's exactly what I was thinking was my last resort.
Not that I can say the FB -> Android calender was any good - I had loads of issues with birthdays duplicating and not showing up, and some showing up from people I had defriended... but it saved me from exporting and importing!
just wondered if any updates to GB was kicking off this 'service' nowadays
there's a nice looking guide here: http://androidforums.com/incredible-tips-tricks/83350-how-sync-contacts-birthdays-calendar.html
Morning all!
if I go into accounts & sync, add account, Facebook
nothing happens, it goes back to the list which has Google & Twitter in it. I have Facebook installed
any ideas?
cheers
The Facebook App needs an update to use the API and sync the contacts i guess.

We believe it is very important that users are able to control their data. So in the over-the-air update for Nexus S, we have a small change to how Facebook contacts appear on the device. For Nexus S users who downloaded the Facebook app from Android Market, Facebook contacts will no longer appear to be integrated with the Android Contacts app. Since Facebook contacts cannot be exported from the device, the appearance of integration created a false sense of data portability. Facebook contact data will continue to appear within the Facebook app. Like all developers on Android, Facebook is free to use the Android contacts API to truly integrate contacts on the device, which would allow users to have more control over their data. We are removing the special-case handling of Facebook contacts on Nexus S and future lead devices. We continue to believe that reciprocity (the expectation that if information can be imported into a service it should be able to be exported) is an important step toward creating a world of true data liberation --and encourage other websites and app developers to allow users to export their contacts as well.

My bigger problem with the facebook app is that the menu button is not accessible in ICS. As a result, you can't change the defaults for how often the app refreshes (I like to disable auto refreshing).
I prefer using fb throught the Browser.... facebook app is the most battery draining app ever.

it's not for me, it's near the very bottom of the list
For some reason my lte gnex will not let me add my Facebook account under the settings: accounts has anyone had this problem or know a solution?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
That feature is not available in android any longer. They took it out in 2.3.3 b/c of a spat between google and facebook. Right now I believe you can only get it working with a custom rom or if you have a phone with a skin like sense or touchwiz it will work.
Facebook will show up under the accounts option as long as you have the facebook app installed. It does not sync with your contacts though.
For more on the syncing question go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393924
Try SyncMyPix from the market. works really nicely!
For what it is worth, extra support for this should come with 4.0.3, though who knows how on-board Facebook will be.
SyncMyPix is good. You could also check out Friendcaster.
Awesome thanks!

I will second Friendcaster. It will not pull everything like you want it to; however, it is pretty close. It also works better with more options than the official Facebook app.
I took my old phone and did an export of contacts, I emailed that to my new phone and got the large portion of them that just didn't seem to synch correctly.
No problem with linkedin and others. But when I try to add Facebook, I'm kicked back to the list of accounts.
Tried to reinstall facebooks, tried to clear the FB data ad cache. Even was not possible to add FB account after installing a stock 4.0.4 ROM from google (after full phone erase).
Google and FB are not friends anymore?
Facebook's Fault
Facebook never made or modified an ICS version for there app. Consequently you cannot add account and phone will not sync. There are numerous fix solutions with root. My Gnex is not rooted so I simply use an app called SyncMyPix in Play Store. This app will at least sync you photos for contact purposes. Facebook just need to optimize for ICS and things will work better!
The issue is actually Facebook not using the correct API for contact sync and hasn't moved on the issue for over a year: http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/22/google-disables-contact-sync-in-facebook-for-android-only-nexus/
If you want a deeper integration on stock android like status updates in you "people" app you can get something like HaxSync (don't know if there is a better or free solution).
