So I was messing around with various options the other week in alquez's CM7 port and changed a setting so that when I unplug the phone from USB (computer or just charging) it turns the WiFi off. Not sure why I did it but I did!
Basically I can't find this option again! I've searched through all the settings and looked in relevant apps that may have this as a setting and can't seem to find it again!
Anyone know where these options are?
Thanks in advance for helping this fool!
try menu -> settings -> wireless and networks -> wifi settings -> menu -> advanced
sounds like wifi sleep policy is set to 'never when plugged in', set it to 'never'

is there a way to prevent the locking of the device while the AC-or USB adapter is connected and loading?
I don't know if there's something that does that "automagically"...
You can, still, turn on the "stay awake" option in Settings -> Applications -> Development.
Or, use No Lock widget when the phone is connected.
Oh yeah. Thats it. I thought I had already checked that option. Obviously not. Thanx again.
Problem solved
I'm using CM 6.1. I've searched and asked and cannot figure out if there is a way to change the way that the screen fades in and out when you hit the power button. I would like it to be instant instead of the fade. If anybody knows of a way to make it instant let me know. Thanks
I had searched for this answer for ages and couldn't find a thing. This is why I strayed away from AOSP. At times it distorted whites on my screen when locking the phone. I couldn't deal with it.
I'd be curious to know this answer as well, it might trigger me to flash back an AOSP rom.
don't know the exact answer but my guess would be the "Automatic Backlight" section.
Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> User Interface -> Automatic Backlight.

That's exactly what it is. Thanks
I have tethering working on my phone from rogers rooted and unlocked. The way I did it was to go to settings > wireless and network > Tethering and portable hotspot > USB tethering checked. Its working now cause im posting The problem I seem to have is when my screen timeout past 30 seconds and goes to the main slide screen I lose internet connection on my computer. It seems that the USB disconnects when my screen timeouts like that. When I put my screen timeout to 10 minutes its fine for 10 minutes but there's no longer option in the display section. Even if I hit the power button at the side I also lose internet connect. Can anyone help me??! Im running Android Version 2.3.5 and Kernel version 2.6.36.3 if that helps.
There is an option in Settings -> Applications -> Development, called 'Stay awake' which causes that screen will never sleep while charging. I think that should help
I have low needs for my phone and would like to have power saver enabled automatically, however I cannot find a way to do this. Is there any setting, app, tweak, command etc. that will enable power saving mode to start automatically and be the default mode?
I have turned on Powersaver and rebooted my phone. Powersaver stayed active.
I have turned on Extreme Powersaver and rebooted my phone. Extreme Powersaver dit not stay active.
If you require Powersaver only, then it shouldn't turn off once you activate it. If you're referring to Extreme Powersaver, I wasn't able to find anything on that. I will add that I do have a custom ROM. I am not sure if the ROM is why Powersaver stays on or not.
For your use I would do this:
Turn on Powersaver
Turn off Sync
GPS Off (Go to Settings >> Location >> Mode: "Battery Saving")
Turn off scanning for WiFi even while it's off (Go to Settings >> WiFi >> [Click the menu button, 3 dots on top right] >> Advanced >> Uncheck "Scanning always available" There's some other settings you may want to look at as well, like "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" and whatnot.
This is all I can think of to help you out a bit more. If you don't use the internet for background syncing, you can turn off data and turn it on when you get ready to check something. In better service areas, you'll usually have data by time you're done toggling the service.
Thx. you are right about power saving staying enabled through a reboot. However, I would like to not to accidentally disable it. Is there a way to keep power saving enabled and have it not show up on the lockscreen? There should be a way to disable lockscreen notifications for power saver but I can't find one.
I've just bought an S22 256gb and the issue I have is that the Wi-Fi keeps turning off. I've done several factory resets and turned off all automation, disabled adaptive power saving and everything else I can see that might cause it to turn off. I'm not on an unlimited data plan so this is driving me mad! Any help or suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks.
Try turning off the following settings:
Settings -> Connections-> WiFi -> 3 dots in the upper right corner -> Advanced:
- Switch to mobile data (this is probably it since it was on by default on my device)
- Turn on WiFi automatically
- WiFi power saving mode
Thank you, I'll try that.

No good, it's been returned as faulty.
Thank you for the suggestions.
