Anyone know if there's a way to get tasker yo change Google voice settings MN
I get terrible service at home and like to just use airplane mode. I want to be able to make a tall to switch Google voice to messages in app. Then click another one to switch back to call forwarding SMS to phone number when I leave the house. Is this possible? I can't seem to figureit out.

So I just bought a new car, and while hooking my dinc up via Bluetooth I noticed that I cant call out from my phone because I have it set to ask every time I make a call if I want to use Google voice...it gets stuck on that screen and fails to make the call.
Is there a way to prevent the Google voice app from asking when calling out via Bluetooth?
Anyone? I could have sworn it worked Thursday when I picked the car up, that's the weird thing...
I'm not sure exactly where it is but there is an option in the settings somewhere that dictates how Google voice handles calls. It can be set to use Google voice, not use it, or ask.

I think that's for international calls. But, you phone might be dialing an international prefix before the number. That normally wouldn't matter, but Gvoice will take notice of it. I set mine to never ask because I never call internationally.
Ah yeah, I think loonatik is right. So if you do have 1+ before the number, GV will probably pick that up and that might be what's giving you troubles. Maybe?
No, I have it set to always ask...but I was hoping there was some way to override it if the call is made via Bluetooth. I could have sworn I had it working Thursday, but now it just fails because it gets stuck on the Google voice screen ...
Anyone know of any way to override the setting if making a call thru Bluetooth?
Or, an alternative would be for me to turn it off (or on) for all calls and have an easy way to bypass it...
Possible solutions...
Free, but a pain in the butt:
Drop the Google Voice Settings widget on one of your home screens. The third button (the one that looks like a handset inside of a settings button) toggles call modes for GV:
-Use for all calls
-Do not use
-Use for international
-Ask every time
Free, but I have never tried the app so I can't personally comment:

Looks like you could set this up to perhaps side-step the GV behavior of manually answering every time
I was about to write out how to do it with Tasker and the Locale Google Voice Settings plug-in. But I just realized that it doesn't have the all/none/ask choice as a plug-in setting: only the online stuff like forwarding phones, etc. Bummer - but maybe you could contact the dev about future integration
Google Voice always ask and bluetooth
Did you ever find a good work-around or solution for this?
I just got an S4 today, and I was hoping that the Google Voice app on the Android would be similar to the iPhone one. It's not.
I use google voice to call/text my friends (I ported my original # over to Google) and the main number for work. But when I tried making a call over bluetooth in the car, got the same problem as you, it got stuck on the "Always Ask" prompt. The problem with making it never ask, is there is no dialer to just go to like there is on an iPhone when you do want to make a call using Google Voice. So you have to keep switching the option on that widget before every call. So annoying.
Suggestions?
I was looking at the specs for this phone and i thought I saw it said that it has wifi calling. Anyone know how to use it on this phone or did sprint block it? I don't see any options on this phone other than under contacts there is a box that says Internet calling but it doesn't do anything.

If you have a Google voice number use it in conjunction. With the Groove IP app. It makes free calls over wifi. Great signal as well
I just used wifi calling extensively while in mexico.Grooveip did the job well enough even with a hotel lobby wifi signal. Just a heads up, but google voice will not work with sprint business or government accounts yet

Groove IP works well. I use it myself.
Use Google voice for WiFi calling
I use Google voice for WiFi calling. I don't need any other applications to do it. Used it exclusively on my frequent Canada trips (and yes, to Whistler also) and in Europe.
As long as you "disable Google Voice on your Sprint phone" in your Google Voice settings page, you'll get additional option in Google voice apk on your phone - "Making Calls". It has several choices. When I'm in US I leave it at "Only use Google voice for international calls". When I go to Canada I switch it to "Use Google Voice to make all calls". That's it. Of course you'll have to be on WiFi to call out.
Again, to get access to that "Making Calls" option on the phone you have to disable Google Voice Sprint phone integration in Web Settings.
Figured it out the hard way - there're still dents on the wall from my head.

When you first installed Google Voice on your phone, did you have to choose to integrate it during setup on the phone, and THEN go online and uncheck the integration? I like keeping my Google Voice number and my Sprint number completely separate...
Doing it that way, does it allow a wifi/network hand off? I know when I was with T Mobile we had wifi calling but it wouldn't hand off to the network when we stepped out of the wifi range - the call just dropped. However, with a Blackberry we were able to use UMA calling and it would switch back and forth during a call.
I have a question about google voicemail. I have finally decided to use it instead of the sprint voicemail. I activated from my browser(voicemail only I didn't integrate google voice) and dialed the long number it told me to dial. I tested it and it works but there are 2 things I noticed about it and I was wondering if there is any way to change them. I set google voice up to notify me via the status bar. When I pull down the notification and tap it, it takes me to the sms app. Is there anyway to change this so that it takes me to the google voice app without making google voice my default sms app? The second thing is that when I dial my voice mail from my phone by either pressing and holding the number 1 on the key pad or saying voicemail on the voice dialer, it calls the sprint voicemail and it tells me welcome to sprint voicemail and that I have not setup my voicemail. Is there anyway to get it to default to dialing my google voicemail instead? I know the google voicemail is working because when I dial my cell phone and it drops into voicemail I hear the greating I recorded. Also if I manually go to the voice app, the voice message is there and I can play it.
You can change what number you dial with 1 in call settings. Google Voice works best with the app.
Turn off text notifications in your Google Voice settings to get rid of the notification problem.
So I use to use GVoice as my primary voicemail. I have all my calls to my mobile phone forward over. However, just today, I noticed that the *71+Gvoice number no longer works. I've tried other variations (*90, *91).
I simply get a prompt for the PIN to access my GVoice account. I've tried deactivating the phone on the website. No luck
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
I'm not sure exactly what you did.. to use Google Voice for voicemail I just enabled it in the app and in Android settings.. then I just checked the box in the app that makes them show up in the call log like normal non-Google Voice voicemails.
I may have misunderstood you, but either way good luck.
I know what I did.
The reason I wasn't able to forward my calls was because my Google Voice # my default Voicemail on my phone. (You can do that when you go to the phone app and then go to settings and then go to Voicemail set up). In order to have the call forwarding work, you have to make sure the default voicemail number on your phone is set to your MOBILE number.
Anyway, it works now.
Thanks!
I'm on root box using Google voice for voicemail. Every time I receive a call I have to answer the call then press 1 on the number pad to actually answer the call. I don't know whether this is a function of the dialer or Google voice but is there anyway to bypass this feature?

go to google voice website and disable call forwarding... while your there might want to adjust all the settings to your liking i hate google voice for that reason you cant just plug and play you have to set it up and god forbid if you want to stop using it you have to go back to the website and turn it off... thats why i always use the sprint voicemail and blacklist 9016
