Hey guys.
I am about to buy HOX and it would be nice to know what problems should I look for after I get it (so if I have a faulty unit I could get it replaced in the store immediately). I want to know this since I'm getting the phone from Prague and I don't live there (if anyone got the phone there please give some feedback).
P.S Is there any possibility to use warranty straight with HTC (for possible fixes) and not the company that sold the phone?

Hello everyone,
I'm currently a T-Mobile Pulse Mini owner, and I desperately need to upgrade my phone.
I am looking at the Motorola DEFY on T-Mobile but I am concerned about the speaker issue. I don't really want to have to send it away within a week of getting it.
Has the issue been fixed in the manufacturing process? Is there a way I can check for the "Blue Dot" or whatever (and is this a 100% sure method of checking) whilst in the shop?
Thanks,
Pete
(No, I'm not trying to get around the "10 post" thing, I just want to be sure before I buy this phone)
Check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10540192&postcount=34
If that's available, chances are very low you will have troubles. If not, there is an real chance you will have to wait for it 3 weeks when it's in repair.
Alright. I'll check for those when I'm in the T-Mobile shop. Thanks, much appreciated.

That's what happend to me. I bought defy,in few days my display died and I was like 30 days without my defy. I got it back and now after few months my speaker died and today I'm sending it again
I went into my local T-Mobile shop and asked about the speakers.
They said "The ones we have in stock have all been fixed, but if you do find a problem, we'll send it off free of charge and have it back within the week"
Yay good news =) Should be buying one when this damn bursary gets in...
Hello,
I have a HTC Desire HD that has just died on me, it just stopped detecting the SIM car. Everything else works just fine.
Gave it to HTC service here in India and they gave me a quote of 13000 INR ($260) to replace it. Since its out of warranty (15 days over) I'll have to bear the expense.
Now I got this phone for 25000 INR($500) it makes no sense to go for this replacement. Now my dilema here is what more can I do with this phone besides using it as a glorifed paper weight
I doubt root it would solve this issue. But would love to hear from you.
Kind regards
I'd just went out of the similar problem. One day my DHD turn off and... That's all ! It just turn of and never came back. I'd to send it to HTC support, they return it to me saying something like "we changed the motherboard".
Now I think "Whatdafuck is this phone whitch can die one day without any aparent reason !!". At it's next death I'll get a Motorola.

Atleast you were lucky that you device was under warranty. I am well and truly screwed.
cheers
Personally, I'd get it repaired, since you could easily get another years' use out of it (more, but other devices will start to make it look old).
That would then work out at $20/month, compared to say $40 ($500/12 months) for a new phone, even via an operator's subsidy.
I'd also let HTC do it so that they can respond directly, should anything go wrong.
Sorry I saw you replied.
If you pay the HTC support can repair your phone.

I would try to buy very cheap non working phone with broken digitizer or similar - many people (at least in europe) sell their phones when they are broken and get new ones. And I would change the mainboard myself. its not that difficult. Ive done it with my old htc topaz...
Suffering at the hands of HTC
Last week, my 1.5 years old Desire 816 was working absolutely flawlessly. 5 seconds later, I pick it up and it is dead! :crying:
The HTC Service Center guys are asking for Rs. 9,700 for changing the Motherboard and I am like WT*. I can buy a new phone at that price. A bit of research and find out that Motherboard issues are very common in HTC. This surely was my last HTC phone.
Now I have 2 questions:
1. Is there any way I can get this phone repaired in the open market?
2. I was using CDMA as my primary number. I am not finding any other reputed manufacturer who has CDMA smartphones. I am not willing to ditch CDMA as of now. Any suggestions for a good smartphone that is not HTC?
I know this is a mother board problem, but because I was impatient, and bought a gray import before the Desire was officially on sale in my country, I can't get a warranty repair, also, it is more than 2 years old.
The problem has gotten worse over time, such that now graphically intensive games can cause a boot loop in less than 1 minute. phone calls kill it in under 10. It doesn't help that I live in a hot country, air temperature in my apartment is often 35-40C.
I decided to bite the bullet and pay for the repair myself, but, I am having difficulty finding an authorized dealer to make the repair (because of the phone status) also, I can buy a used phone for less than the cost to repair mine.
So, my question is... Is there anyway to know if a used phone has either had the mobo replaced, or is a production model with a modified mobo?
I don't want to get another phone and find that it has the same problem.
I like the desire. it does everything I need, so I don't want a different phone. I have a 7 inch tablet which I use for movies etc. so I don't need a bigger or better screen. I just need reliability.

Hi everyone.
So I have bought Maylong M-150 universal android tablet couple years ago and its screen is broken. So I got an idea to do something from it.
Is there any way to make something like wearable PC out of this "tablet"? I know it is stupid question but i'd like to know if it's better to sell it for parts for someone or make something usuable. Or maybe just fix the screen and use it as usual?
Thanks for advices.

Hello Guys, im new to 10 forum but in the past 12 years i used only HTC devices so im planing to leave my m8 and jump to 10
My question is this: I have a offer for a HTC 10 in brilliant cosmetic condition no sratches no even single sratch on the panel perfect as brand new condition never been droped or watered but the phone cannot switch ON.
The owner of the device have it from around 3 months and tell me that he was trying to SIM UNLOCK it somehow even he don`t know what he was doind coz he is not very familiar with things like this and NOW the phone its seems dead.
Its a Shame because is even under waranty but was locked on a network.
Anyway he is going to sell it for about 50 USD im asking you
Do the deal worth it? and what can cause the reason for this DEAD HTC 10 after trying to Sim Unlock it.
I think to try eveyrhting posible to give this phone a second life and after a week will be able to take it and see whats goes i don`t know more info i mean do i have access to Recovery or Fastboot since the device is not here till the next week but my question is do this worth it and what can be the cause of NO switching ON anymore.
The owner sayd that before to attempt this Sim Unlock the phone was worked perfectly fine.
Thanks in advance for the advices and of course when is with me will Update the thread with more info about the device.
Thanks

Do the deal worth it? and what can cause the reason for this DEAD HTC 10 after trying to Sim Unlock it. Well that's enitrely the problem with buying phone not working. You can't troubleshoot all the internal hardware like you can a PC and test what works and what doesn't work. you would need a working HTC 10 to swap parts with to test.
That said my opinion, forget about this phone. Go buy a working phone on swappa, ebay or HTC.com they are having a $200 off sale and you would have the peace of mind, knowing that you have a working phone. swappa would be best if you wanna negotiate a good deal with a seller.
Or go to ebay - factory unlocked 10's are $400 delivered all over the place.

I know what you are saying but listen
I know this guy is a friend of mine i know the device is brand new he bought it before 3 months in this case when is bricked after atempt to Sim Unlock im sure its SOFTWARE related problem becuase like i sayd the phone is in Mint perfect cosmetic condition no a single dust or scratch.
I know that its HARD to really Brick a device forever on a software level.
So i know also how much cost a brand new or second hand HTC 10 the goal here is do 50 Bucks worth it coz if i think stright only the Rear and Front Panel and the Displey in my opition worth more.
Im asking you what can cause Broken phone after attempt to Sim Unlock.
Thanks in advance

If its software why cant your turn the phone on? If its software you need the phone to be able to boot to download mode to flash RUU. I think your friends is lying to you. If its still under warranty why doesnt he return it back to the carrier? How about he give you the phone and if you get it fixed you give him the $50. If hes your friend he would understand.
