Hi Guys,
I was trying to root my Desire Z (originally running 2.3.3) and managed to downgrade in order to try and install Android Revolution.
EDIT: Fixed! Installed a different custom ROM and all was well. Apologies!

[Q] Rooting

you know when your rooting the desire hd, is it exactly the same as the desire z? ive got the desire z rooted and my brother just bought the desire hd, so i just need to know if its the same in rooting?
check his software version, if he has version 1.7x+ you need to downgrade before rooting, other than that just use visionary

[Q] "DesireHD > Inspire4G" identity mod not working

Hi,
Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I have searched and cannot find an answer.
I have a HTC Inspire 4G. I have used attn1's rooting method, and then flashed LeeDroid 3.2.1, flashed radio Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2, flased kernel LeeDrOiD GB V3.1.8 - 2.6.35.13 BFS, and have tried installing LeeDroid's "Convert DesireHD > Inspire 4G" at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056727 using ROM Manager, to change the devices identity in phone identity back to HTC Inspire 4G, which got changed to HTC Desire HD during the ROM install process.
The problem is after installing this zip, the phones identity is still HTC Desire HD afterwards. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what is the fix for this?
Cheers

[Q] I tried flashing a new ROM with S-on after HTC Dev unlock Bootloader

Hello!
I flashed my Toshiba Folio a year ago using a guide from this forum and it worked brilliantly, and because my HTC Desire Z was getting slower by the minute, I decided I wanted a custom ROM on my DZ.
I used the HTC Dev Unlock to get root, that went all perfectly.
After that, I installed Clockwork Recovery Mod and tried to flash 2 different Custom Roms (Android Revolution HD™ 7.0.0) and CyanogenMod-7.
What I didn't realize was that I needed S-off to flash a custom Rom, and now I only get a white HTC screen at startup.
It is still possible to get in Hboot/fastboot and into the Clockwork recovery mod, but I can't find a solution to what to do now. ADB isn't working in hboot/fastboot and the ways to get S-off are with ADB. Can I get my DZ back into original state safely, or is there another way to get S-off?
Thank you all in advance!
Ps: I also tried flashing a lower (1.34) ROM or a Stock Rom, but they don't work

[Q] HTC Desire Z will not update to 2.3.3

Hello,
After my first HTC Desire Z broke i got a new one (second hand) yesterday. The phone was not used for a long time and still was running Android 2.2, for some reason i do not get the over-the-air update to 2.3.3 it simply tells me there are no updates available. After browsing some forums i see many links to htcdev.com where the update should be available for download... well it is not there anymore..
Has/had anyone the same problem and does anyone know how i can get my phone to Android 2.3.3?
Thanks in advance!
tijn
Current versions:
Android 2.2
Build: 1.34.405.5
I think it's better to root the phone, not update, and u don't have to downgrade for rooting. Think about root instead
Thanks for your quick reply, i thought about rooting the phone but i'd rather have it with the stock firmware. I'm affraid i might break it somehow.
So my original question still stands
