[REQ] Camera hack

How hard would it be to hack the camera app, and allow it to use a line in input while in camcorder mode, instead of the internal mic? If anyone could do this, it would make a boy very happy

Headphone jack. According to another poster, voice recorder apps work with a mic plugged into the 3.5mm jack with use of an adapter.

Broken ICS roms cluttering dev section

Is it just me or is there a sudden surge of broken ICS roms being released that don't rework? Am I the only person that find this annoying and cluttering the dev section. I mean I don't know about you guys but I don't wasn't to have to wade through countless broken roms to get to a working one. I mean what's the point of releasing something that doesn't even have basic functionality? You'r thoughts guys?

Well, you see, they are previews. Other developers can get them as well, work on them, and all the devs work on the same project and it's most likly to be finished faster.

It's almost like they are in the development section because they are still being developed.

OP is right. There should be closed QA process with closed Betas and maybe a carrier approval process.

What?! That's an April fools joke, right? Cause there's no way those can still have work being done on them. I thought ROMs with no signal and odd auto rotations were normal.
On a more serious note I don't mind all the ICS ROMs in the dev section, as said they are still being worked on it's not like they drop 'em and abandon development on them. The devs will get a working kernel whether it's with T989 ICS source when it drops or not but I can only imagine how much time something like that can take even though it may seem simple to some
Now if it was just 1 dev crapping out the same threads I'd say that's cluttering up space

I might agree if they weren't just kangs of a non working base. Atleast use one that you can make calls from imo. A rom that you can make calls from might make more sense. All I'm seeing is people taking raver x's base and retheming it. Meh I guess it is what it is lol!

You dont know what youre talking about because xravers rom is AOSP and all the other ICS Roms are not AOSP.
EDIT: I guess you are referring to the MIUI port since its the only AOSP base ICS rom.
a) thats an alpha of a MIUI port ie nobody promised for it to be fully working
b) xraver was looking for someone else to take that project on.

That's the whole point of the 'development' section. XDA was meant to be a website for developers to help each other develop. The influx of smartphone availability brought people like you thinking the world revolves around them and every dev caters to what they want. That's why the moderators are so anal about people not posting things related to development within the development threads.
Mods, please delete this thread. Ego-centric newbie that doesn't understand the purpose of the forum.

Besides the MIUI and AOSP (lack data but still being worked on) the other ICS roms are not broken they work fine minus a bug here and there (auto rotation)
So no I do not see it cluttered

This is not Pimpmyphone.com it is a development site, I don't think it is all the ICS ROMs that are the clutter, I think it is all the NOOBS and people who don't care to learn that are cluttering up the place ...

What the hell are you talking about broken.The only true issue with the i.c.s roms is the auto rotation.That is a kernel issue and is being worked on.In my option these i.c.s roms run better than some G.B.roms IMO.People everyday posted about i.c.s Leak or TMobile said that about it or I'm reading about it's coming.Well we are here,let's help these guys produce the best product for our phones.

Is that an April fools joke? I have been going to xda-fullyworkingroms and it redirects me here now. Damn these devs that can't get leaked roms without source code working in a week. Foxconn wouldn't allow this, back to the XDA dormatories.

Were cluttering xda with more cry baby topics. If you read the descriptions you will see the bugs, no questions asked. Grow up or get an iphone.

Why don't you appreciate what you have? You try to get make a AOSP build. Or an AOSP build from a TouchWIZ kernel. Or at least modify framework.jar or Res to get stuff working. You haven't done any of that. You will see how hard it is. Just enjoy the little things.

What the... The OP was probably the one crying about that we don't have ICS...now we have it and people still complain. it hasn't been out that long. relax and let the Dev's develop the ROM in the development section....sheesh!

Its kids like this that end up causing devs to abandon their roms... its so sad. I hope the original poster may learn what exactly xda is about. We are a development community. There should never be closed locked betas. Developers share their work to everybody so we can all make progress. No matter what phone it is never ever criticize the developers who are making YOUR phone better.

Sorry for placing this thread in wrong section (thanks for moving).
It is one of the best ROMs on XDA (or the best one) so it's a bit stupid to delete the thread just like that with no comment.

I don't think the mods just hide/lock threads because they can. They obviously did it for a reason. Single apk or copied the whole Rom, it was hidden for a reason. They know what they are doing.
It's a great Rom though.

I am sure they know what are doing. But i still will not understand it.
Sabsa Prime is a FREE rom, so nobody have paid for it. The developer has not got any commercial purpose, just to give to the Desire HD (or other devices) users the best ICS + Sense ROM, he has made an amazing job and dedicated a lot of hours just for this reason. I think all of us must appreciate this, and say thank you, without exceptions.
So, sorry, i will not understand that a developer/moderator/whatever accuses other one of "kang" when it is not a commercial ROM, and the only purpose is to give us the (probably) best ICS fully functional ROM for FREE without bugs.
Who is interested in this situation? Who wins getting the thread hidden?
The users? The developer? I don't think so.
Maybe i don't really understand what is behind this, but I would have never expected to see this into a developers community. It seems more like Apple reporting patents issues.

[Request] Free up more RAM on CM10.1 ???

Hi guys,
I have a problem with free RAM on CM10.1/SGT7 latest ROM for Kindle Fire.Alot of games are crashing on JB due to lake of RAM while it is working just fine on stock ROM.I know that JB requires more RAM but is there anyway to minimize RAM used for JB ? I got about 260 MB free on stock while the maximum on JB is 200 MB (after killing launcher app while game is launching !!)
I have also tried swap which made some games works but it was terribly slow and I have heard it affects your memory on long term.
I know those replies already-please don't post it again ! ( impossible request/a noob dreaming!/this is your device maximum abilities,Face it !/go back to stock! ) and so.
I have also heard about moving cache to SD using A2SD but I don't know how it works?/Is it really useful?/Will it be harmful like swap ?
Really appreciate positive replies and waiting for XDA geniuses help here ! (They already helped me to get a lot from my Kindle Fire already!)

Although I agree with gold flame, to your question: you can stop this by using apps like greenify that will hibernate apps when not in use making more RAM. Another option you have is to revoke a apps permissions, but unless your a Noob you don't want to mess with permissions since that might cause FCs.

I have been over on the nexus 4 & 7 forums lately, not saying much, many already have beat me to the punch and I miss the days when I was able to help more with the devs of the Cappy glide.
This phone was so much like it's predecessor, the one difference, we had a small community compared to nexus and the sgs Cappy..
So are there any devs going on that could use some beta testing? Known issues would be a bonus, but as always, not as much fun to know about.
I want to put back cyanogenmod 4.2.x because everything I had worked except the Bluetooth which was needed for my stereo Bluetooth creative labs headset but, my nexus can be used for that..
So please shoot me a pm or a friend request. Thanks.

Check the brainstorming thread, in general cm10.1 bugs thread, kickass kernel and pacrom thread.
That'll get you caught up.
Main issues right now is bluetooth and audio w/ skype.. .brianstorming thread will help you understand.
Spyke, bubor and lorddavid I think are the most current "dev's".
