cspire experia play - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all. I have a rooted CSPIRE experia play and I am about to unlock my boot loader. I do have cwm installed through the installer app and I really want a new rom. This 2.3.3 is just getting old to me and I dunno when ics is coming to me. I have asked the people in the 1st post for help and the guy with wonderful (verizon) told me to look in the thread for it. Where is it? Anyways. I been looking for a while and just needing some real help. As I have said before. I am not new to flashing, rooting, unlocking or any of that stuff. Just new to this phone. Thanks for any help

I seen your post in the cspire R800x fourm I'm also a cspire user but I don't have a nand backup of my original firmware I got bricked and had to use flash tool to Flash the verizon ftf. 88 its caused me to jump towers and it just asks for activation. So know calls or data it roams but doesn't connect. But anyways to get to the point is there any way you could possibly help me out with a nand of your stock device or anything with a cspire kernel I've searched the web to no avail. Your the only one I've seen with the cspire version and I got mine :in November.
So I just had to ask. Thanks for your help even if you can't spare a backup.

two questions:
1) Does reactivation only result in Verizon's message?
2) have you asked C-Spire if they'll reflash you're phone to their network?
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk 2

1) If i just rebooted i won't roam until i try to call someone so if the first number i call is 611 ill get transferred to C spire they see my number as normal but if i dial *228 or any other number i get Version but after that i get a triangle by the signal bar but the signal acts as but if go to settings>Mobile Network and change roam to home only i drop all signal until i change it back.
2) This morning they told me they had to write a job ticket up for it and said i had to wait 3-5 days for a tech to respond to me before they could do anything else.

Ok, from what I can tell, your apn settings are needed up. There are two ways to fix them.
1) you need a fellow C-Spire member to post an apns-conf.xml. If they do that, root your phone, and do
Code:
adb push apns-conf.xml /system/etc/
adb reboot
(I'll look into it, and see if I can't get them for you)
2) If you can find C-Spire's apn info, open up voice dialer & say "set apn" & it should let you set it manually.

Crap, it's because you're build.prop is also different. ANYBODY ON C-SPIRE. IF YOU COULD GET ME A COPY OF YOUR BUILD.PROP (LOCATED IN /SYSTEM) I NEED TO SEE THAT THEN I SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE A FLASHABLE ZIP SO YOU CAN USE VERIZON BASED ROMS. (apns-conf.xml located in /system/etc or /etc would also be nice, but I can test it with the apn info i listed before)

I think it may also control the size of MMS messages sent through the network. I would flash back, but I lost my original backup of my stock ROM.
Also, I have a build.prop for Verizon that does work on cSpire. Hope this helps.

Thanks you so much for you efforts and the help i've received so far reading this thread. Please, can you explain the above quote? I feel like i am so close to fixing my phone. I've got android running again, but it keeps trying to connect to verizon network.
What to I set for the sid/nid? where do i re-add my phone number? when you say "added apn" is that pushing the apn file to the system/etc directory?
And CDMA workshop, i'm sorry i am a noob but what do i use it for?
Please help, and thank you in advance.

Need some help

Ok so even before rooting my friend was unable to send picture messages after root it still continues to be a problem. She called sprint today and they told her that they can no longer access her sprint account because she is rooted so now I've come here for help does anyone know hoe to fix the messaging bug she is experiencing. Any help will be greatly appreciated

If the person's phone is rooted, is she running a particular ROM. Is it a ROM which is Sense based? Does the phone have EPST capabilities? Also, the phone being rooted would not cause issue with Sprint being able to access her account.
Not sure about the epst but I set up cm7 for her and even before when the phone was stock it was messing up. And I told her that rooting wont do that but I guess its what the sprint store told her

You call sprint cs not a store sprint stores are lazy which is why they refuse to work on rooted phones I activated my evo to a different line while running evio3 before gb was even officially on the evo sprint didn't say a word about it other than how cool it was I was updated way ahead of schedule lol every csr I talk too is cool about rooting and usually ask me for opinions on what rom they should run if they happen to have one of the 4 phones on our account, sprint cs even sent a few of my friends to HTCDEV to unlock their bootloaders

e4gt on boost now

my question is can i load a ics rom on my boost without losing the boost settings?
i had it flashed at a store i did not do it myself. i have looked through queite a few treads and can not find this answer out. could use some help please.
I think they stay between roms

Mine is on Boost.
I've flashed from GB to ICS and every ROM in between.
You're good. The Boost settings stick between ROMs.

When you do flash just make sure that your MMS settings are unchanged. I have found that when flashing GB and ICS roms that MMS settings change back to default - at least for me it did.
Thank you all very much

Im on boost as well. Much cheaper
Sent from my "Other Phone" using Tapatalk Premium Application.
You should be fine flashing between ROMS.
Worse case, you will loose MMS, but thats a simple fix.
Download "MSL Reader" in the playstore
Dial the usual ##DATA#, select edit and enter your MSL, and tap Advanced, then scroll down to "MMSC URL" and tap it.
Enter:http:// followed by mm.myboostmobile.com, click OK and your MMS is done.
If you happen to wipe out your network settings, just do a profile update, and you should be good to go.
And always remember to do a backup before changing anything.
Could someone link me too how to setup our phone as boost?

You can port it over before leaving sprint. But if you cut off your sprint account prior to porting the number its almost impossible to get it again.... Just sign up a phone on Boost and tell Boost that you want to port your existing number and they will know exactly what you mean. Then cutoff your Sprint account...
And yes, there is a guide in this section on how to flash your phone over to Boost mobile. You will need to purchase a "donor" phone to do it. Read the thread for more details.

So boost picked up the e4gt? Will there be some kinda flashable zip? Or do we have to go through that cdma software. Copy this, push that
I switched from Sprint to Boost. Bought my donor phone off ebay but really didn't need to since the local store I went to when I flashed had plenty of donor's. Once your e4gt is flashed you can load any rom and your settings will stick, except mms as noted in posts above. As always, be careful of what and how you wipe to avoid emmc brick. You can find a modded no data wipe that will preserve your data when moving from rom to rom. Right now I'm rocking the ICS build FG31 from manu. Solid everything and made for Boost. The great thing is you can play around and see which one fits your tastes. Enjoy!

... im a newb :(

So I have a rooted epic 4g with cm9. I bought it used and is already fully flashed for metropcs. The guy I got it from was using metro with internet and mms unlocked already. So I take it home and call metro to switch my service over from my super nice admire ._. And I had no problems with the esn or anything. I got as far as the programming step and when I enter ##000000# and/or the other ##468xxx# number they told me to, to program it but no edit option popped up. I assume its because its a rooted device. Any help on this would be great as they switched me half way, so neither of my phones are activated now ._. Anyone know how to get to that edit option after entering those numbers on cm9? Prease and fank yoo

Virgin Mobile E4GT

Virgin Mobile's new S2 is actually just an E4GT with VM branded software. VM runs on Sprint towers, but if we flash your roms certain things won't work. I'm here to ask if any devs would be willing to help us. Our forum is on phandroid, but most of you guys are on xda. Like I said, your roms will boot but certain things (mms/4g/3g) won't work. If anyone would be willing to help us, please contact me on xda or find our forum on android forums (it's under "Samsung Galaxy S2 4G"). Thanks and merry Christmas.

One thing I'm going to experiment with after activating the GN2 today is a quick flash of CSC data. The goal would be that you flash this image in Odin after a build and it will apply the correct settings.
Now keep in mind I won't be able to test beyond flashing as this phone will be deactivated. But if it works - and I should be able to see what the settings are at least - I'll put it out there for others to test.
Until then the best way to get around it is to modify the settings manually. Sprint, Boost and Virgin are the same h/w, all the issues you are experiencing are settings based only.
I'm quite curious about this... Will the Sprint rom work for this phone? Or would I lose some kind of functionality?
I'm about to recieve Virgin Mobile's S2 and I don't want to run into any kind of issues
It will just gotta change MMS settings
Were you able to change your APN settings on a custom ROM? I'm on paranoid and its not letting me I'm trying to flash a e4gt to metro.

I think you'll have to go in and change it manually. I think the file is called apns.xml? Correct me if I'm wrong, someone.

Should just be a mmsc setting change
Sprint touchwiz doesn't have files to work with virgins mms. That's why there's no tw fix yet, only cm10. You can read more about it in one of the mms fix threads, but I can't remember which one. I'd expect it to be okay with the virgin Mobile rom sextape is going to release soon though. :fingerscrossed:

Help please, no service.

So first off, im running The Devil's Reject v6 with a cwm touch 6.0.2.3(?)
and i flashed over the intergalactic v2.5 kernel, soon after that my messages werent going through so i thought it was just the kernel that didnt wanna work with my phone, so i flashed the intergalactic 2.6 and same issues, i could connect to wifi and i have one to two signal bars but the 4g or 4g lte never came up. i then flashed the stock kernel that the TDRv6 was originally running and the issue was still the same. no service but wifi connection and signal bars. later on after some research i learned that i had lost my imei number. i was able to recover it but still the service never came back..
Please any help would be great!

Sounds dumb but verify that your imei came back and is the same as behind the battery.
Check to make sure your APN settings are set up correctly.
There has been instances where no data after restoring imei, there is a thread dedicated to it. Simple search will help you.

Yeah I have lte in my area. Ive had it for a while but it wasnt that, I had just flashed something and somehow in the process I lost my imei number which didn't allow me to do anything under the network. Idk if it was an issue with the recovery or with the zip file but I got it all worked out, thanks.
