so ive been really annoyed with game lag on my phone recently . I used to think it was just a normal part of android and the way its system works and keeps interrupting the processer to do other tasks in the background while I play, but amazingly enough i looked at some youtube videos and saw people playing on it with pretty much 0 lag. So what do you think I should do to get this fixed?
1. My set up is as follows: Inspire 4 G running Absolution Rom overclocked to 1.3 GHz whenever i open a game, using ADW launcher with 7 home screens and 8 main widgets apart from shortcuts on my home screens : widgets = android pro widgets facebook widget and calendar widget, speak to it assistant widget, some random clock widget, time magazine widget, CNN widget, evernote widget and a bookmarks widget. One day ago i also installed chainfire 3D trying to solve this but havent noticed any reall difference and the NENA mark test actually got worse with only 29 FPS now instead of my previous scores of 32 and 34 on a regular basis. active programs that i think the system would keep on all the time are whatsapp, Go-SMS, email, tasker, and the call recorder.
2. the games lagging that ive tested so far: temple run and real racing 2. gun bros used to lag on the stock rom but is okay on absolution.
so what do you think is my problem? should I download some plugin for chainfire? overclock some more? is it my widgets?? also would a phone slow down with more programs installed? I have a large 32 Gb Sd Card, does that affect my phone's speed?

No need for chainfire...
1. what i know from my personal experience, is that sense roms are ram hungry so you have to pretty much kill all the apps before playing games.
2. If you want good gaming experience? get LC ICS as it has the latest gpu drivers for adreno 2xx, and overall gaming on it is much better according to my own experience.
Absolution isn't a Sense ROM. I use Absolution as one of the ROM's on my SD card on my Boot Manager & it plays Temple Run flawlessly. With no overclock or ChainFire & undervolted -50ma. It's something with ur setup. Did u do a full wipe before flashing Absolution?

Everyone has to have some favourite apps out there, share them here to get the word out there so others that may not have heard of them can try them out too!
My favourite apps are:
1) Tasker- This app runs everything on my phone and is invaluable. It's got a steep learning curve but once you know what to do there is endless possibilities.
2) Beluga - Just discovered this app earlier in the week and it's already replaced Kik as my go to messaging app. It is a group chat messenger that has native iphone and android apps, but also works through text, so any friends without smartphones can still communicate, great for organizing events and parties, but obviously also works for 1 on 1 conversations as well. A blackerry version is in the works as well. The UI is beautiful to boot.
3) Titanium backup - Flashing with my GT- i9000m scares the crap out of me due to samsungs garbage design for the phone risking it dying every time, but I know that if it does this will have all my info there when the phone gets replaced.
4) MX moto - not the greatest of games but I use it to kill time without draining battery like something like dungeon defenders does.
5) 3 (cubed) - by far my favourite music player, I used this app for over a year trying out other music apps but none of them had the same charm. I tried out double twist, even bought air sync (which doesn't work at all) the player crashed randomly all the time and the pc client is slow and laggy garbage, deleted it all and now its back to 3 for me!
ADW Launcher EX - Best launcher, if only it had the launcher pro plus widget lol
Handcent SMS - Best one for me
Beautiful Widget - Awesome weather animations and all..
SMS Backup+ - Saves sms to gmail
Fring - Use frinngout a lot!
Super power
Browser
Google Maps
Market
Cashe Cleaner
What is the best ICS Rom that plays well with games? I want an ICS custom rom where its stable enough to use daily and can run all of the emulators and xperia play games fine (battlefield, nova, dead space, ect).
ICS++
Where can I get it for the Xperia Play??

Well it depends what type of ICS you are looking for. The best I would say would be the official Beta sony released a while ago!
here is the link: http://developer.sonymobile.com/wp/...or-unlocked-xperia-play-smartphones-download/
But if don't like the Sony firmware interface and the loads of crap thats comes with it then I'd also say ICS++
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599906
But I have to say Atarii is no longer continuing with ICS++ he has GalaxyS3 and won't be around as frequent. So I'd say having said that you'd be better off with ROM that DEVS are working on ATM i.e.
1) Cyanogenmod 9 by Freexperia: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447542
Touchpad/gamepad and Gaming Optimisation: Medium (Emulators work still a work in progress) More stable with normal games
2) Official ICS port of Xperia ray: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599269
Touchpad/gamepad and Gaming Optimisation: Good (Emulators work still a work in progress - New game launcher)
Well I was happy with GB 2.3.4 for gaming until I decided to play HAWX. No Gamepad support… then I found GAMEKEYBOARD. At that time there was no support for touchpads, only the game buttons. The only option was JOYSTICK CENTER, only available for ICS! I decided to try it, also willing to get a better user interface…
The first rom I tried was the official sony ICS Beta version, very stable, however it was slow for some high end games (TDKR for example). Some OLD games crashed such as Shadow Guardian and HAWX.
I installed the Pureless ICS afterwards, however the user interface and figures were a little bit too fancy for me…did not tried the performance
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822118
Then I changed to Markphyton’s Stock ICS… great rom too. Stable and with nice user interface and widgets, such as menu when scrolling down the screen. 180 Mb RAM size… realy nice! But TDKR was still slow and the crashing game issue still happened for old games… When Wild blood came and even with overclock the game was lagging…I decided to change it back to GB!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1854682
So… I went back to GB… this time NXT light… what a rom. The rom itself is only 80 Mb, so there is a lots of RAM free! Very stable. Some things I like about it:
- All games run lackless!
- The apps already installed are exactly what I needed (except the file explorer).
o The Music player (Clean Music) plays directories and even skips the song when pressing volume button longer!
o Quick Pic is fast and let me select multiple Pictures at same time
- Percent Battery icon is even better than Markphyton’s Stock ICS
- Menu when scrolling down the screen
- Camera works with buttons and FOCUS and TAKES the picture when pressing R button stead of only focusing like the Camera MOD app in googleplay.
- The cool old TV looking when screen turns off
So I also tried NXT2JB rom just for fun, but it came with so mane apps that I do not use that I went back to NXT light right away!
PS: Gamekeyboard NOW controls touchpads in xperia play... so I am finally happy!!!

Yeah, ICS ROMs are pretty sweet, but some games only work on GB and I'm not willing to part with them.

Have you tried any N64 emulators?
How do they run?
Also, is the interface smooth?
I am looking for a gaming rom tha is really really fast.
Thanks for your comments!!
Hi,
One of the first games I bought for my HOX is Reckless Racing 2, problem is: it stutters slightly. It's not that much, but enough to make it frustrating to play. Anyone have any idea how to fix this ? It seems to me the HOX should be able to easily run this game.
This is the only game where I have this problem.
My HTC is at stock rom, and I'm using Nova launcher
Hello, i play this game too and have no stuttering at all. Everything is nice and fluid ...
but don't know what can cause that except another task using CPU for example.
Make sur you don't have any application in background syncing or uploading something ...
To my knowledge there is nothing running in the background. But even then, this device has a Quad core, unless something pretty heavy is running, it should be able to handle that, no ?
What tool can I use to check if something is running in the background that uses cpu ?
Go to settings> Apps> Downloaded> Reckless> Clear Data and Force Stop. (If you dont want to delete your gamedata then just clear cache and force stop). Now reboot and launch the app.
OR
Redownload app, reboot, and launch the app. Then report back
And do hit thanks

lol this runs @ locked 60fps
since its running in low detailes mod, blurry textures, no shader effects no nothing
clumsy port
I cleared the cache and rebooted and it is indeed better. Not perfect, but better & playable.
Do you have an explanation as well ?
I just downloaded the game, its runs perfectly without any lag !
Running pokemon rom with bricked kernel !

Anyone have any issues with the CM 10.1 Zoe Rom for the Dinc2 when using Google Navigator?
The ROM is fantastic, but I just cant seem to keep the screen from moving around while using Google Nav. The only other time any weird video happens is when i play "Dice for Buddies", the homescreen becomes garbled for approximately 4 seconds, then the app loads up just fine. I'm assuming it's due to the lack of resources from the Single Core CPU, but the device runs "Clash of Clans" app without video issues and that app is very graphical compared to a simple Yahtzee clone.
Verizon Droid Incredible 2
Rooted
S-OFF
4EXT Recovery
Only running one desktop screen with folders and no widgets to minimize resource hogging.
Nova Launcher (Trebuchet is a resource killer)
Any ideas?

Hi guys,
I'm about to travel and I was looking for a new device and I've thought of the xperia play as it can be bought really cheap these days
Though, I wonder :
Can it run smoothly, android 4.x, a minimalist nova launcher home, a custom keyboard, texting, a couple of web apps and of course PSX emulation ?
I don't even 3g or fancy features
Sounds like quite the dream to just text and call and be a swipe away to resume a bloody roar game in a train when I see my galaxy nexus stuck below 20 fps for psx emulation
Sorry if I'm not in the good section
thanks

Hi dude:
run smothly android 4.x : No , its laggy on new games
Nova launcher : YES , it can
Custom keyboard : Yes , it can
texting web : Yes , it can
PSX emulation : Yes it can
just FYI , i was waiting for 3 years for xperia play 2 , but never happened ... do i've alrease note 3
galaxy nexus have newer and much powerful hardware than play. if you cant get sufficent fps on galaxy nexus, you wont be able to get higher valules on play.
you will not be able to instantly switch between heavy games and apps, cuz play have only ~270Mb of free ram, which is not enough for even app only multitasking.
Maybe you can do smooth gaming when staying on 2.3. I've been using an ICS rom from Markpython for almost two years now. It was quite fast at the start but I must say that it's getting slower and slower in my daily use. I use more apps now than I did at first and perhaps the apps have gotten heavier over the years.
I don't even use the facebook app, I currently only have these apps running and don't have anymore space:
- Whatsapp
- Youtube
- Google maps
- Link2SD (this is a must, you need to use an app like this to force your apps to be installed on the sd card as the intern card is very small)
- Tinder
- 9gag
- NS (local train app for train times in the Netherlands)
- ES file explorer
I will be trying Mike's CM11 build now that wifi works soon so I hope that makes it better.
