This is my first post here, so hello everyone.
Secondly, I searched not only XDA but many other resources for a resolution. I also attempted to post in the threat for the CM9 Reloaded ROM, however I do not have permissions to do so.
My issue is this. I am running CM9 Reloaded V1.2H and kernel #7. My kindle will not mount while running (it asks to install Kindle Fire drivers - as far as I know it should not do that) and will not charge while connected to the USB. It does appear to be charging when plugged into the wall. I can also get the device to mount from within TWRP.
Has anyone run into this?
If you need additional information please let me know and thank you in advance.
It still charges over USB, it just won't show up as charging. This is a bug with Hashcode's kernel.
The lack of storage has to do with the ROM though, since it works properly with AOKP. I'm currently trying to figure it out myself.
I've been out of the loop for a few a few days so unless something has changed, the new kernels won't work with the old roms.
[Edit:] Disregard. Something has changed.

I am trying out another ROM (hellfire) and it seems to mount from within the ROM alright.

I would love to see boot manager ported to the kindle fire as we have multiple ROMs that I can't decide which to stay on.. I have some knowledge with android in general and little development knowledge, but I don't have the slightest clue on where to start with boot manager.
Anyways, this would be awesome. And I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants it.
I think its kinda silly you want to port a Android app to a Android device
I am new to development also we can create it together
Boot Manager doesn't need to be 'ported', as much as the devs who own it (it is a paid app) need to add compatibility for the Kindle Fire.
I'm 'working' on it, as in I've given the devs some information they need (I don't think they have a Kindle Fire to work from) and bug them about it, but it is up to them to add compatibility.

I've done some beta testing for them in the past. Got a hold of him yesterday, provided some files, tested some beta versions.... as of right now its somewhat working. I have cm9 as my "phone rom" cm7 and miui installed to different slots and am able to reboot into each one via the app. There is some issues to be worked out tho. But official support shouldn't be too far away
Yep, I have been told that the next version should have official support!
Now all we need is USB host, or some way to solder in an SD Card... That internal space is looking mighty tight...
BTW, how is the performance on the SD ROMs? I'm thinking they should be pretty fast, since it is just one area, yes?
Greetings XDA,
I know for certain that many new Kindle Fire tinkerers have issues with ADB drivers when first starting off... I had problems myself. After following several tutorials, I finally got everything up an running on my work PC. At home, I'm still having issues - still not sure why, but that's not my question today...
Here we go (and please feel free to simply reference another thread if you think it'll help... i couldn't find anything to meet this specific issue)
After rocking the stock rom for a while, I rooted and flashed a couple CM7 and CM9 roms... Then switched back to stock and stayed rooted through the 6.3.1 update.
All drivers and KFU working just fine.
Then I gave the gedeROM v1.25 ICS rom a shot. I love it, I'll probably stick with it for a while... Probably my favorite so far for a number of reasons.
Anyway, I plugged it into my work computer this morning and realized that it was installing the drivers over again.... and it couldn't install them all.
I re-tried everything that I did when I first had this issue and it still won't work.
Keeping in mind that this computer has worked fine in the past, what could be the problem now? Does it have to do with the CM9 rom?? Or the fact that the Model Number shows up as Galaxy Nexus in the "About Tablet" section?
Please help!!

Well, this was definitely the sort of response I was hoping for... I'll start asking my questions over there...
Nothing seems to be working yet, but I appreciate the help.
ADB driver not recognizing KF after 1.25 Install.

From the 1.2 build to the 1.25 build, Gedemis "Fixed" the device description so that the standard KF driver would recognize the KF without modification. To get mine working again, had to uninstall the modified KF driver and re-install the stock one. After that no issues for me.
Thanks for listening
Sincerely,
William

Edit: Realized this thread marked solved after posting this - Sorry.
About 6 or so months ago I bricked my Kindle Fire in a rushed attempt to install ICS.
Basically instead of properly installing the firmware, I mounted the root, and dragged the new firmware files (extracted) onto the old ones, without changing permissions or anything.
I know I'm stupid, and details may be fuzzy since it's been 6 months. I've installed ubuntu on USB since I've read there are some methods to fix it from there, maybe someone with my exact problem in the past could help.
I really, really don't want to buy the recovery cable, so if there is some other way that would be sick.
Thank you for reading!!!
I just tried using soup kitchen, I don't know what I'm doing really but it says "ADB STATUS: ONLINE" that's a good thing right?
Hate to triple post, but I'm getting this error using every option.
I'm hoping the only way isn't to use the factory cable, what about the shorting method?
Okay I have been searching for hours, trying to root my kindle Fire. I installed the drivers as showed. Im showing up in device manager under android phone / android adb interface. When I run the kindle fire Utility It comes up and says ADB status Online, Boot status unknown. I have tried plugin right into the back of the computer with the USB cord thinking it was the hub from comments i read in another thread but no luck. I have also reinstalled the drivers several times, at one point restarting after every step and still no luck. Any help on this please?
You might have a kindle fire 2. Check your firmware revision in device info or about device or whatever its called in settings. If its 10.something you probably have a 2. It has a faster processor and more ram but it has a locked bootloader that no one has said they are actively working on as of yet. Hopefully someone will pick it up soon. It can be rooted and have Gapps installed but no custom recovery which means no custom ROMs. If you develop or know someone, give it a shot. I know there are at least a few people eager to have a full tablet.

Hey guys, I tried to install TWRP by following this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277105 and I successfully boot into TWRP.
But then terrible things happened. Maybe I got wrong by clicked one more bottom on fireflash herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168512.
Then TWRP tells me no OS found, I can only boot into recovery now. Since Kindle Fire HD got no external SD card, what can I do about it?
Only factory cable, which I nerver want it, can save my Kindle?
Help please!!!
You don't need a factory cable to fix, and I think they don't work on 8.9” models anyways. This tutorial might not sound like its for your problem based on its title, but it will fix it nonetheless. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459498
