So I've done the whole search thing, and XDA now offers a cool display of related threads when I start a new one...but I haven't found something related to Cyanogen Mod 7.1 for our variant of the GSII.
I hesitate to flash cyanogen because 1. it's not stable anymore (according to their forums), and 2. our model of the GSII is arguably not like any of the other GSII's because we have a different chipset.
Had anyone tried to flash cyanogen mod onto this phone or does someone know that it works?
Thanks in advanced!
10-22-2011 EDIT: So people don't need to sort through the clutter, the answer is no there isn't CM7.1 for the T-Mobile variant of the GSII and no one should attempt to flash the one from cyanogenmod's website for the GSII.
Thanks for answering my questions!
Cyanogen mod roms are built specifically for each device. Don't ever try to flash a build from another device. Even the ATT and International galaxy s2 have differently builds even though they're pretty much the same phone

I believe CM isn't even available for our phone yet. Only for the other SGS2 models.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
DO NOT attempt to flash roms that were not specifically made for our devices! The ONLY roms that are safe for the TMO GS2 can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1332
Thanks for the information. I thought that would be the case.

None of the unlock solutions from the market work on our devices. If you are a T-Mobile customer, you can call in and request the unlock code, otherwise you can get it by faxing in your sales receipt. There is a good discussion of the topic here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18643213

My statement was in reference to the GSII only. Users reported too many bugs...but again that's not for our GSII.
If you check their forum there is no more "stable mod" link to 7.1 for the GSII.
The mytouch4g should be fine.

I apologize to you if my question was naive. At least I didn't go posting in the developer forums.
The development seemed active enough for this device that I was considering there was a chance of availability. I'm also not rushing or demanding anything from the developers/developer community. I also give thanks and donate to them.
Other's have graciously answered my question, and to them I say THANKS.
Hi,
I live in Canada and have my GN with Bell. I've been stuck on 4.0.1 since I got the phone; no updates were ever available.
Recently, I had to get my phone repaired and gave it in to the Samsung place here and when I got it back, it was updated to 4.1.1 (I attached a pic of the info)
I just wanted to ask you guys if all the info there looks good/correct. Also, not really sure how the tech managed to update it since nothing was ever available...
On another note, I was wondering if any of you could direct me to rooting methods (preferably on mac) / ways to change to yakju (also preferably on mac) on the version of the phone I have now... I searched and saw a bunch of different methods and whatnot, but I'm terrified to choose a potentially "wrong" one.
Thanks!
they must have updated it using Odin. is the IMEI the same or a different phone
I don't think I've ever seen that baseband before. I wonder if Samsung is actually close to releasing something for the Candian yakjuxx variant.

Before you change to yakju, would you mind dumping your radio, bootloader and ROM please? You have a new radio, so I'm sure lots of folks would like to try it out. And I'm sure lots of Canadians would like to try out your ROM as well.
I can post instructions later tonight.

Someone has a temper today! Just posting a link isn't too hard, isn't that easier than being a ****?
First off, the OP never said they wanted the flash apk. They wanted to know how flash preformed on the Optimus G. All the other posters talked about it performing on other phones. I gave a little insight about flash not being on newer phones and that you would have to find the apk. Yes saying that if you don't know how to find it then you shouldn't be on here might have been harsh. But it sounds like your are a little butt hurt. It's ok. There is a thing called the search button that usually will provide anyone with a multitude of answers. I could provide a link but, couldn't you have done the same thing rather than coming on here and calling names? Or maybe it's because you yourself don't know how to find it.

If you aren't smart enough to know that asking the original question doesn't necessarily mean I don't know the apk can be found through a search, then you don't belong. ..anywhere
Yknow it is possible someone had gone through the trouble of installing the apk since this phone has been out longer on carriers other than Sprint.

I'd like to ditch the stock 'Google' boot splash for something else but I can't figure out how to do it. There aren't any obvious 'splash' or 'splash1' partitions. There isnt an initlogo.rle or similar in the ramdisk. The .ppm's for the kernel are all 3+ years old, so i doubt that's them.. Any ideas?
AFAIK, it's embedded into the ramdisk. I don't know how to edit that, but good luck! If you do figure out how to, please make a detailed walkthrough thread on here for the rest of us.

Ok guys I think I have a solution which worked for me on a previous device, and it s an app, and it s permanent, and replace the splash image.
Hope it works for you !

I'll be watching this
I don't think that app would work with any Nexus device... It replaces the boot splash that's encoded in HTC's proprietary format (correct me if I'm wrong).
Just be careful if you're going to try it. I'm pretty sure it won't work.

Hello there. I am new user of galaxy nexus, I got android 4.2.1 . and I got heavy lags, I think this is TRIM problem, and I saw 4.3 solved this problem. But my phone won't update. Always says that system is up to date (Clearing data in Google services framework won't help). So I can't find exactly way to update my phone. And another question why there is no factory image for 4.2.1 even if I using it? Maybe that's a bug that I updated to 4.2.1 and the reason why I can't update to 4.3.
Maybe your build is yakjuxw.

I thought takju were designed for USA, and will not work out-USA. On your opinion is it fine to install it instead yakjuwx?
Have you read the threads regarding the conversion?
The only difference is the inclusion of Google wallet. Nothing about it would cause it not to work outside the US.
If takju didn't work outside the US, there wouldn't be so many people using it or recommending it. Just go do your own research. The answers are out there for you to read.

Its a hard phone to kill. You can always reload stock and relock the boot loader. People worry too much about this. When you have a nexus you shouldn't worry so much about modifying it.
