I am scared for my rooted kindle fire. Please help.

Okay so basically my Fire is rooted and currently running gedeRom latest ICS rom. It comes on to the blue kindle fire intro screen with the power button green NOT orange. It turns off by itself literally after two seconds. It won't charge via usb or the original wall plug. Let me clarify what I said last.... basically the power button doesn't light up at all when I try to charge my kindle fire. I can't access recovery or anything for that matter because it shuts off so fast when I try to turn it on. My battery did die before I can charge it, but as of right now the damn thing doesn't want to charge and I think it is fully charged at the moment regardless of whether it lit up or not. Every time my Fire is dead it shows that animation screen that tells you to charge it and not that blue intro screen. At this point I really need any assistance I can get and I am more than happy to upload a video of the fire or whatever because at this point I am absolutely clueless. The computer does not pick up on the Kindle Fire at all even when I try to turn it on and plug it in right after. Nothing happened to the device or I didn't try to install or flash anything. It simply just died from no battery left and now the damn thing is giving me more trouble than I have encountered previously. Please if anyone can help me or guide me through this I'd really appreciate it.

Your version of FFF should help prevent that. Have you tried leaving it plugged in with the stock wall charger for a few hours?

plug in to wall, this turns on kindle so then it goes in a power loop due to flat battery. the answer is, plug in to mains charger then hold power for over 20 seconds, this will turn off kindle but should leave it charging. next leave it overnight. ie. a good few hours
edit. the led is sometimes missleading, ignor.

Once again I really do appreciate you guys taking out the time to assist me in this issue that has never happened before. At the moment I am currently working on a HTC flyer I just bought from a friend and now I have to find the HTC Scribe for cheap somewhere lol. Take care.

Still not working...
I can't access anything (Tried so many times to get into recovery or something that I lost count at this point) because it shuts off so fast. At this point I know for certain it is not a problem with the battery not being charged, but in the same breath I know for certain that I have never had a problem like this that was so extremely problematic. At this point I have lost all hope and think it is messed up even though it was working beautifully on Gederom's ICS rom before it fully died. I charged it for the whole night and now it won't show a charge light when I plug it in to the original KF wall charger or it won't link up or charge with my PC. It also won't turn on when I have it plugged in to the OEM wall charger and it doesn't light up when plugged in to charge. I do have an actual video of me with the device showing exactly what happens when I try to turn on. Just go to my youtube channel under the name fatjoejr2001 and watch the latest video I posted. If anyone can please help me get on track I would really really appreciate it and would be extremely grateful. Thanks

power it off and charge it via usb with your computer it will take some time so set your computer to not sleep while you charge

from whst you sre describing it acting like your battery is flat. (i know you say you used the stock charger) sorry to ask, but are you sure, does it say 1.8A on it?
can you use your charger on another phone etc (to test it).
the only other thing i can think of is your bootloader is screwed ie fff.
can you catch fastboot in the time its on?
type fastboot getvar in a terminal from where ever you have fastboot installed on your pc
it should say "waiting for device".
then switch on kindle. does it do anything in your terminal?

Yes I am a 110% sure I am using the right charger and I cannot access recovery since it shuts down so fast. It doesn't show up on my PC when connected via USB and it won't turn on when either plugged in to wall charger or to my computer. I can't use Kindle Fire Utility or any such methods when the device will not function while connected to my Windows 7 desktop. I am just completely oblivious to what is going on because I have a htc flyer and Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and nothing like this has ever happened where I can't recover some how. What can I do at this point? From what I am hearing people think it may be the bootloader, but how do I go about fixing this when I can't even access anything on the Kindle fire????

I've tried and to no success. I charged it again last night and am currently charging it again with my PC, but I know for sure that isn't going to work and that is not what is causing this issue. My device was working fine till the battery fully drained and died. Now it is just non-functional. Maybe I didn't have the proper TRWP installed for ICS or the right bootloader?

ok if its dead you should try the fire kit
but it involves making a ubuntu flashdrive and booting with a script on the root of the flash drive, then taking off the back cover and shorting a pin out instide whilst inserting the usb cable. it sounds scary but its not too bad if you follow the instructions exactly.
(no shortcuts).

if you need any help let me know where abouts you are in the process and what is going wrong.
this will work as it doesn't even need the battery connected.
it resets your partitions, reinstalls twrp &reinstalls fff.

Very Strange, Random Boot Problem

Hello everyone,
So I installed Jelly Bean onto my kindle fire, and switched between a few different builds and what not, everything happening normally and as expected. I've really had no problems with jelly bean whatsoever and this issue may not be related to it at all.
But, my kindle was working fine this morning. I plugged it in to charge (doing the whole batman movie last night I never plugged it in, anyways...) and when I came back it was completely off, and pretty warm to the touch. I haven't been able to get it to turn back on since.
I have plugged it in to three different chargers, tried connecting to adb to see if it was on somehow, and just plain let it sit for a good chunk of the day...and I have gotten no results.
If anybody has had a similar problem to this, I could use some advice...as of right now I am just hoping that it fixes itself. But it is quite the phenomenon to me.

I have had this problem before, since I rooted my kindle. If you hold down the power button for 10-20 seconds it should hard reset and when you touch the button again it should boot up. It is probably plenty charged but it can't hurt to put it back on the charger if it was at low battery when you put it on when you left for the movie. (The JellyBean ROM/Kernel doesn't have fast charge yet so we will have to deal with the dismally slow charging until that is implemented in future builds haha)

I found a discussion at the Amazon site about it as well so apparently it's not too uncommon.
Haha the one time I didn't use Google first...I always have bad luck with starting threads. It seems like I usually answer it myself anyways.

HTC One X Suddenly won't turn on!

Hi guys!
I bought my new HTC One X on contract with three UK about 10 days ago. Been working great and I've flashed several different roms on it, the latest being the AOKP jelly bean.
I was in the middle of setting up my Go Launcher last night, when the phone suddenly died. I thought it must have just crashed following some rom/kernel issue, so I tried to turn it back on, no luck. Also tried holding the power button down but to no avail.
I supposed that it might have run out of battery, as it was fairly low at the time, so I left it charging on USB (with the indicator light flashing) all through the night (around 9 hours) and this morning it still won't turn on.
The screen won't come up at all, and the phone doesn't vibrate or make any noise but if I connect it to my computer it will sometimes be detected and I can see the device in ADB.
"adb devices" first shows the device as offline, then if I run "adb kill-server" and try again then it shows the device as "HT23YW105462 recovery".
I've then tried running commands such as "adb reboot", "adb reboot-bootloader", "adb reboot -p" but no luck. The phone seems to recognize the command as it disconnects, but it doesn't turn back on.
Any theories guys? I hope my new toy hasn't been bricked somehow! If this happened to my Desire HD I'd just take the battery out to make sure it was fully off and try again... is this a good idea here?

Ok, it seems to have been resolved at last... just for anybody who gets the same issue, here's what worked for me.
After doing some more searching I found someone mentioning this method: Leave the phone plugged in to your USB port for a while until the orange LED flashes. Leave it flashing for a few minutes, then quickly swap the lead from your USB port to a wall charger. If you leave it unplugged too long then it seems the LED stops flashing and it won't work, so do it quickly.
If successful the LED will keep flashing while plugged into the wall, and it will start to charge up. Give it a while (I left mine for about 25 minutes) then try and turn it on. This worked for me, but even after this period of time it had only charged up to 2%!
:S This is an odd phone indeed.

Very strange resolution IMHO.
This problems must be caused by discharging the battery more than it should (which I guess custom ROMs can cause)

Very strange indeed... I tried pretty much everything I could before this, but this was the only thing to get the phone to boot. Charging and working fine now :S. I'll have to make sure to never run it flat if I can help it, this would be a right pain if it it happened while I was out

Just saved from similar issue
My battery run out last night when I had the phone connected to the tv through USB>HDMI when i put it on the charger the charging light would not switch on. Phone wouldnt switch on either it was really dead!. Left it all night hooked up to charger and this morning still nothing, wouldnt switch on.
So I Hooked it up to the PC and after 10 minutes or so the light started to flash and I quickly inserted the usb charging cable and it started to charge.
Pretty sure I either discharged the battery to much (did update to 7.2.2 yesterday with 30% bat), OR something to do with having the USB>HDMI cable inserted when the battery run out.
Odd but brought it back to life (phew!)

Hmm, seems like a pretty common fault. Maybe an app that cuts power to the phone when it reaches a critical limit might be a good idea... I noticed that most phones seem to turn themselves off before fully dead, whereas ours now seem to completely flatten themselves. At least if it shut down at 1% you could still turn it back on when you found a charger, and it could tell you why your screen was about to go black rather than "poof, gone".
Anybody know such an app? Or should I make one (been wanting to get my hands dirty)

im unable to see led light i believe unsupported kernel fryed phone

[Q] What the hell just happened??

So I'm watching tv, and I plug in my phone to charge it a bit because the GPS had gotten stuck on this morning and I burned my battery down to 40%. All of a sudden I hear it buzzing over and over again...like a reboot loop.
So I pull it out of the charger, pull the battery and let it try to boot. Gives the samsung screen for a moment, then flickers, and again to the reboot loop. Holding down power for 10 sec makes it do the same thing, I can't force it into recovery or DL mode without it bootlooping either! At one point I was able to get to the download mode screen, but just 3 seconds and the screen goes black, and back to bootlooping.
I literally did nothing to it. Only thing I did different today was the GPS got stuck (which it has done before), I rebooted the phone, then when it booted again I went ahead and just shut off the GPS. But this was like 20 minutes before this started happening.

My first guess is your battery is shot. i was gonna recommend the power button failure but if its staying off it might not be that. but id let it charge fully then try to boot up.

Thanks, oddly after a bit of messing around finally got it to boot up. Immediately backed up in CWM....seems to be acting OK now. Idk what happened...

i'll guess, the USB connector got short-circuited when you plugged in, and it caused a cascade failure that fried the SD card or something else inside the phone
there was a factory defect back then with the old SGS 1 (i9000m) model, they fixed that after the 3rd batch, everyone with an old phone from 1st and 2nd release batches, were able to exchange i for a new one.
however in your case, that's not a factory defect, but you plugged it wrong (my guess)
because it has happened to me before when i plugged it in, but the battery was still not charging even after several minutes, yet the phone was getting really really hot
then i unplug, and plug it back in and got the sound feedback "tuu tuud" and then it was actually charging after a few minutes
the first time around even though the charging icon changed, there was no feed back sound, and that was the key, it was not plugged in properly.
so after that time, i always made sure to verify to make sure the phone was plugged in properly and not just relay on he visual icon.
check back after a few minutes, to make sure the phone doesn't get very hot, and it actually increased 1%

It happened again today! After a full charge overnight and no problems for the day up to a little while ago, I opened my email app, it froze, then proceeded to start boot looping. I'm in class so I don't have my computer to try to bring it out of it...so yeah that sucks...
I do remember when I got it to charge yesterday it showed it was charging for 20-30 minutes, but after I "revived" it, I found it hadn't charged at all.
I have been using a Nokia USB cable to charge my phone since I got it, because it was longer than the cheapie Samsung cable that came with it...but it hasn't ever caused problems before. And it charged just fine last night.
How long is the warranty on these things thru tmobile? I may just swap it out while I still can.

Also on an unrelated note, I upgraded to the LG3 radio because I was meaning to anyways...

I pulled it out of it again! This time I held the power button while putting the battery in, when it vibrated I let go, it vibrated again, showed the Samsung logo, and then booted like normal

CM9.1 nightly 9/3 with included kernel

It did it a third time during class while it was in my pocket, the power button trick didn't work this time, I had to pull the battery after the samsung logo, plugging it back in to get it to boot...but...
near the end of the CM9 boot animation, when it vibrates and the auto brightness kicks in, it started it again! I have yet to revive it...
This is a bit upsetting because I had just got CM9 the way I liked it and I don't exactly have the time right now to mess with warranty and a new phone...I would like to fix it.
There are about 20 different threads on here on how to revert to stock...let me as a last ditch try to revert to stock and see if it keeps doing it...unless somebody has any ideas...

I was working in recovery mode, i super-wiped my phone to see if installing a ROM from scratch would help, and my phone even does it in recovery mode. Warranty time.
So whats the fastest way to restore to stock? Who knows how long I will have after reviving it before it breaks again.

Well, finished playing stupid for T-Mobile, in two weeks I will have my replacement T989. Now all that's left is returning this thing to stock before it starts acting up again.
And my temporary replacement phone?

Thanks! got it all done, back to ugly, ugly stock lol...and just when I thought maybe I would have to brick it myself it did the reboot thing again...so pulled the battery and there it sits factory reset.

KF shuts down when connected to cable

I really want to root this dang KF but every time I hook it up to any charger or cable it goes black and shuts down.... I have read all over the net the last few weeks and seems this isnt super common like the charging port problem... It works good when running on the battery. Anyone have any ideas before it gets used for target practice?
Oh and I am not a total newbie, but its been several years since I have been here and made a new user name.

First generation kindle fire? Are you using the correct cable? If both of these are true seems you have a kindle with a serious hardware issue. How do you manage to charge it? Best to avoid rooting this one till that issue has been remedied.

1st gen and Yes I have tried the amazon cable/plug, and many others that I have laying around.. It charges just fine, it just goes black screen when I plug any cable into it via wall or PC. I have done every hard reset I can find on the net... I got this at a friends pawn shop so I am not out much.. I was wanting to root it and give it to the neighbor kid that has downs syndrome.

Try this when connected to charger long press power button for 1 min. then let go then press as if to simply power on the device. Sending a bootloader to this Kindle is extremely risky if it powers off during the send the bootloader can be broken. This is the second hardest brick to recover from the first being a dead battery . Chances are this device has been rooted before and that`s why it was pawned look for evidence of being opened maybe someone incorrectly applied the short trick to recover from a hard brick. Which might be the best way to go about rooting it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430038 . Are you sure the backlight is not remaining on but just giving the appearance that it is off? The first gen. kindle fire will not charge without a running system.

I am not home right now, but will try your suggestion when I get home. I have never owned a kindle so I am not sure of how the start up progression is.. But when I plug it in the screen seems to go black ( in a dark room) and once I take it off the charger and push power button it brings up the "Kindle Fire" screen and it kind of pulses then goes to the unlock screen.. Its there suppose to be a charging indicator light? I dont see one when I plug it in

Ok I tried the 1 minute reset deal again, no joy.. I inspected the case and there is zero sings of tampering.. While I was out , I ran by my friends pawn shop and got another kindle charger.. He had another kindle he just gave me in case I needed parts... This new kindle wont boot on Press the power button and nothing shows up .. It shows orange charging light and green power light comes on briefly when power is pushed and then the green light shuts off after 3 seconds.. I am going to read the thread about firekit and shorting info.. Goal is to get the one that actutally boots repaired then might study up on the other one..

Just an update.. Dumb me , I said it was a 1st but it is indeed a 2nd gen... Sorry all for posting in the wrong forum.. But even with that said, it still shuts off the minute I connect a charging cable LOL.

2nd gen same issue...shuts down when connected to computer- computer won't recognize

Did you ever figure out how to solve issue? I have same problem. It used to work fine. I have another, identical, it works fine. All the sudden, one of the kindles 2nd gen HD started to act up. If I connect it to computer it gives me error message that it is a low powering device.. computer does not recognize anything was plugged in then kindle shuts down exact way as you described it. Tried reboot computer, kindle, long holding power button, connect while off then start up...you name it. (Charges up fine with wall plug in too... I fully charged it to make sure that is not the issue...all I keep seeing on net is reset...but that did not solve my issue.) So if you can share any wisdom it would be great!!!
